When the world is on the line, will love be enough to save them all?

Farren Azar came to college to get his degree. However, he knew he couldn’t let anyone know about his djinn blood. The djinn had been exiled to a different plane, and if his heritage was discovered, he could be banished too. When a djinn and a fire god become involved in his life, he has to figure how to handle two powerful entities without losing himself.

Dan Stewartson knew Farren was the one. A glance between them had him hooked. When strange fires begin popping up around campus and fingers are pointed at Farren, Dan refuses to believe his lover could be responsible. Will he be able to save Farren’s reputation, or will secrets come between them and wreck their budding romance?

I enjoy the idea of a world where magic is the norm. The other stories in this series kind of were a bit more paranormal since there were wolves and mates involved, but in this one there are fewer werewolves and more just pure magic which I absolutely loved.

Farren is part djinn and djinn were banished, so he doesn’t flaunt his heritage, but between his vengeful djinn grandfather and catching the attention of a fire god, well life isn’t a picnic or an easy ride for poor Farren. I think he handles it all beautifully and takes the punches thrown at him in stride.

Toss in the wizard who is very sure Farren is his mate, even if wizards don’t really mate. Dan is the perfect foil for Farren, he’s everything that Farren could ever hope for in a mate, and doesn’t bat an eye at learning the truth about Farren, which I totally loved because it made me fall a bit in love with Dan myself.

My one big complaint with this story, it ended super abruptly. Things do wrap up, the story line does end, but without an epilogue, it just felt unfinished. I wanted to know how things ended for Dan and Farren, how they recovered from events in the story.

The story has a lot of action and I found myself holding my breath a few times. I really enjoy when a plot keeps me that entertained.

Overall, it’s a great magical fantasy story, with a healthy dose of two men falling in love and loving each other physically, the scenes when they do get a moment alone are both sweet and very hot.

A cop, a criminal’s twin and a cabin where anything can happen.

Carolyn Trufant has only recently discovered she has a twin. When Jasmine calls for help, she goes immediately, not willing to lose this new-found bond. Once in Atlanta, she finds herself in a succession of whirlwind events that result in a handsome cop taking her to a secure location in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. But she’s not her targeted sister. And so the secret begins.

Declan McBride is the Atlanta PD cop assigned to protect Jasmine Hoyer, a woman who drives him crazy with all her escaping and disregard for the law. After he decides to put her somewhere safe that she can’t escape from him, he finds that he’s strangely starting to like this new Jasmine.

They grow closer and endure a lot together. But what if Declan discovers she’s not quite who she says she is? And how will Carolyn cope when she finds herself having to take her new identity to a dangerous, life-threatening level?

Carolyn Trufant always thought she was an only child which was what her adoptive parents told her. Imagine her surprise when she is contacted by her sister, and not just a sister but her twin. Now imagine receiving a call from that twin telling her she needs her and to come meet her in Atlanta. Carolyn didn’t have any choice but to leave her perfect life in Madison Wisconsin and help her sister Jasmine.

Jasmine did not have the same upbringing that Carolyn did; her adoptive parents had died which left her alone in the world that is until she found Carolyn. Jasmine had witnessed a crime and was supposed to be under the protection of Declan McBride but she had other ideas. She knew that there were men looking to kill her, but if she could get her sister to distract officer McBride she could do what she needed to do.

Declan McBride did not like Jasmine, she was a pain in his neck but he was assigned to keep her safe and that’s what he would do. There was something different about her but he couldn’t put his finger on it. He also found that he was very attracted to her which confused him since he never had those feelings before. All he wanted was to keep her safe until she could testify.

Preconception is a very good book which will keep you interested from start to finish. The interaction of the characters, and Carolyn’s look into her twin sister’s life allowed you to see what one person would do in order to survive. The attraction between Declan and Carolyn was potent, and when they finally came together it was worth the wait.

Author Aliyah Burke is one of my favorite authors, and for me I know that when I pick up one of her books I will have hours of pure entertainment. The characters are people you can relate to and care about, the storyline will keep you intrigued.

Preconception is a must read in my opinion, it is well written and enjoyable.

Take two men who think the best years of their lives are behind them. Throw in one raging attraction, and stir liberally. Giving in to a mutual case of lust could be the best idea either one ever had.

Daniel Haversohn is stuck in a rut, and he knows it. The kids are grown and gone, he’s years past being ‘over the hill’, and the only excitement he gets these days comes from the occasional argument with a supplier. Owning a bar keeps him busy enough, but each night he has to go home to a cold and lonely house. Enter Joe Masterson.

Joe has known Daniel for longer than he cares to remember, but the military was his life. Now, after twenty-five years of active service, he’s a free man again. And he hates it. When Joe goes to his favourite bar to drown his sorrows, Daniel sees him moping and offers him a job. Tending bar is definitely a downward career move, but Joe is just bored enough to take it. The problem? Leaving the army behind must have knocked something loose in his libido, because he can’t stop staring at his boss’ arse. Now Joe has to decide if he can throw aside a lifetime of training for one moment of passion. And, just maybe, something deeper.

Just when you think your best is behind you, life throws you a curveball you can’t help but swing at. Take it from Daniel Haversohn. Feeling like an empty nester with all his kids gone off to college, what’s he got to look forward to other than his bar? Cue Joe Masterson.

Daniel has raised his kids and sent them off into the world, leaving himself alone and wondering what he can do to fill his time. Spending more and more of his days at his bar, he’s falling into a predictable pattern he’d give anything to break out of. All he needs is a little excitement and he’d be good to go, I think. I really liked Daniel. He was fatherly but not overly so. Took in those who needed some guidance or a job and steered them into the right direction. He’s the kind of guy your best friend has for a dad and you immediately like on meeting. It made him the perfect guy for Joe, who needed a little patience and guidance.

Joe, on the other hand, is a career military man who doesn’t know what to do without the service. That he even takes the job Daniel offers him makes me want to really like him because, to me, it shows he’s willing to do whatever he can in order to try and reestablish a new life after the military. His friendship with Daniel only makes their coming together later that much sweeter. I loved that this relationship began with an established friendship, one that was based on trust and mutual respect. Joe is adorable in his resistance of Daniel’s natural charms. That neither of these two were perfect only made this short story more enjoyable.

A Good Idea really is a good idea. A very cute and sexy story about two older men trying to find their feet in the dating world. Their clumsiness and reluctance to actively engage the other is charming and a lot of fun. One drawback is that there could have been more back story between the two. We’re told they’re old friends but not much more. Aside from that, the fact that they have sex that is even more awkward than they are really made this sweet novel so much more relatable in the end. Entertaining characters and a lot of less than perfect relationship building make this a worthwhile read.

Let the games begin…

Franco James is in for a night of self discovery when the owner of Dark Encounters, Trevor Keaton, takes him on a tour of the naughty toys on display for the Sex Carnival. They start with a nice Farris Wheel spanking and explore just how far Trevor can push Franco’s limits, but at the end of the night—will Trevor be his forever Sir?

In the dark, sultry world of dungeons and clubs, is it possible for two soul mates to find each other?

Franco James is pursuing a rather satisfying career at BDSM club Dark Encounters. He enjoys his job, works hard and knows the rules. The owner, Trevor Keaton has organized a Sex Carnival for his patrons and Franco is in charge of the popular Ferris wheel spanking machine where Doms and subs are queuing up for fun and a crowd gathers to watch.

The club’s boss, Trevor has had his eye on Franco for sometime. They shouldn’t be together, should they? Boss and employee? Well regardless of that lust and passion takes over and they find themselves in the back office having a whole host of fun. Boy, these two are great together.

Jambrea Jo Jones never disappoints in the m/m department or the D/s plotlines and this book is no exception. The writing is seamless, the characters sexy and the location pulls you into the story. I enjoyed the imagination of the toys and the way the couple came together with such longing. The relationship drama wasn’t too great that it got in the way of the story making Ride Me a quick and steamy read perfect for fans of the m/m genre to enjoy on a coffee break.

Can bondage save a marriage? Once Nick uncovers Laura’s hidden desire for BDSM, there’s no going back. Laura craves his touch, but Master Nick wants more than her body. He demands her total submission.

Laura can only find the excitement she so desperately craves between the covers of the latest BDSM novel she reads alone in their bed. Then one night Nick, her loving, cater-to-her-every-whim, vanilla sex husband discovers her hidden library. To her everlasting surprise, he decides their anniversary getaway is the perfect time to turn her fantasies into reality.
Before he can put his plan into action, Nick must figure out how to tell his wife she’s actually married to a Dom. More than that, Nick is also part owner of DiscipliNation, a successful chain of kink clubs and an erotic toy manufacturing company. Can he dominate his lovely ‘ballbreaker of the boardroom’ wife—while keeping his balls intact?

Laura’s treacherous body revels in Nick’s domination. As a natural submissive, she thrives under his strict, unyielding command. He trains her to respond to his every touch and the line between pain and pleasure blurs— so much pleasure, she’s lost in it. Laura craves his firm hand, yet his sin of omission shakes her trust. She willingly offers her body, but guards her heart. Quickly, she learns Master Nick isn’t just a hotter-than-hell, leather clad, flogger wielding alter ego. Dom isn’t a role he slips on like a mask. It runs in his blood, defines his personality and once unleashed, there’s no going back. Master Nick won’t play at D/s. The gift of her body isn’t enough. He demands her total submission.

When you’ve been married forever is it possible to surprise each other? It seems it is!

Bondage Anniversary is the story of Nick and Laura, a married couple who both work hard in their respected professions. Laura also loves to read, and her preferred material is erotic romance, particularly BDSM stories of Domination and submission. Nick discovers her store of books, reads them all and then is stunned by this new side of his wife’s desires.

Nick and Laura have always stuck to a vanilla sex life but with this new knowledge Nick plans a weekend away to dig deeper and go further than they ever have before – all the time wearing his Master Nick hat!

The interesting thing about Nick’s character, as we discover, is he is a closet Dom.  He has been involved in a chain of BDSM clubs “DiscipliNation” in a professional capacity at work and – excuse the pun – has learnt the ropes!

Laura is a feisty one to handle; as much as she craves submission she struggles with balancing that with the high-powered job she has. The author handles these insecurities really well and I’m sure many women who find themselves in this position would relate to these emotions.

I enjoyed the flow of the story and certainly the characters were hot and sexy. At times I felt like Nick was reading from a How To BDSM Manual, he was so careful to say everything correct and be sure that safety was the priority (which of course it is) but sometimes it was too smooth. I would have liked to see him a little unsure or struggle just once.  This was, after all, his first time in a Dom role with Laura.

The sex scenes were off-the-scale steamy. Ms Carson sure writes `em hot, much to my delight. So if you’re looking for quality erotica that explores a couples newfound BDSM relationship and all the physical and emotion tangles and pleasures that surrounds that, Bondage Anniversary is a definite read for you!

Dyer’s whole life is nothing but a game of play pretend. When he attempts to drag Derrick into his make-believe world, it tips on its axis. Suddenly Dyer doesn’t want to play anymore.

Dyer Cambell could escape all his troubles with a starring role in a new gay dramedy. At least he thinks so. Unfortunately, the producers want to cast true to script actors. Simple enough, Dyer will make them believe he’s gay. Problem solved.

Enter his best friend’s brother.

Derrick Verns had no intention of being Dyer’s personal show and tell prop. But there is something about Dyer that is oddly compelling. Derrick wants to find out who the real Dyer is—the one that doesn’t play make believe all the time.

Dyer Cambell is one of two actors getting a final call-back for the lead part in a new play. The only problem is, it’s a GLBTQ play, and Dyer isn’t gay. Determined to not let this opportunity slip by him, he convinces his best friend, Harry, to get his brother, Derrick to help teach Dyer to act more gay. Derrick is gay, and has indulged in a few, very secret, fantasies about Dyer. When Dyer proposes Derrick move to LA for the six months the play will be on for, Derrick is torn. Part of him certainly wants to pretend to be Dyer’s partner, and heaven knows moving to LA for a while will help boost Derrick’s artist career, but it seems just a little too good to be true. It might only be make believe, but sometimes those lines between fantasy and reality can blur a little too much…

I really liked both Dyer and Derrick’s characters. Dyer is like a force of nature – almost impossible to stop once he has an idea and is rolling with it. Derrick is far more grounded, but I got the distinct impression he really loves Dyer’s flights of fantasy and outgoing nature. I wasn’t quite sold on some of the plot surrounding Dyer – particularly that of his repressing his sexuality. The premise the author set out was logical, but it was only briefly skimmed over and so I never quite fully believed in it. Perhaps if there had been some more detailed flash backs, or even a hint of interest from Dyer at the beginning I might have been more convinced, but for a story this short it’s also possible the author simply didn’t have the space to fully do justice to the depth of complexities of Dyer’s past and those consequences.

All up this is a wonderful, fun and lighthearted short story. I enjoyed Harry, Dyer and Derrick’s characters and their interaction. Despite the short length of the story I felt the author really explored their characters and made them stand out on the page, I didn’t feel at all short-changed as a reader. I also felt the plotline of the play – and the irony of a “straight” man potentially not getting the part an interesting twist – fresh and well handled. The romantic side of the story has a wonderful, complete ending that should leave readers with a smile on their faces just like it did to me.

Finn McMurphy convinces himself his spoiled dogs are all the company he needs. Then he meets Crawford, his sexy new neighbour, and everything changes.

Patient soul Finn McMurphy teaches music and drama to middle schoolers. By the time he’s finished with after-school rehearsals and the private lessons he teaches to make ends meet, he’s too exhausted to think about dating or even hanging out with friends. He’s resigned to life with his music, his students, and his ludicrously spoiled Yorkies.

Then he meets Crawford Bixby. Crawford may be the most perfect man Finn has ever met—kind, good with kids, gorgeous, and completely unconcerned with Finn’s lack of ability to be coherent around him. Finn falls hard for him, but he’s terrified of what he feels. Will he be able to step out of the controlled world he’s created for himself and take a chance on love, or will he keep making excuses—rehearsals, papers to grade, dogs to walk—and push Crawford away?

Finn McMurphy inherited his mother’s two dogs – Yip and Yap – when she passed away. While grading papers one afternoon the two little monsters got free of the garden and barked like crazy at a gorgeous man walking down the street. Crawford Bixby hardly blinked at the two furry dogs, and waited patiently while Finn got them under control. The two men got to chatting and Finn was somewhat embarrassed at his rusty flirting skills. But Crawford knows a good thing when he sees it, and he’s not about to let Finn back down.

I found this to be a wonderfully sweet story. The chemistry between Crawford and Finn is smoking hot, and the two dogs gave me some good laughs. I thought Finn was charming and adorable, the way he was so flustered and awkward. Crawford has tons of patience with him, but still manages to be quite the alpha male. I thought the premise of the story was quite realistic, and although their misunderstanding in the middle was a little clichéd, it all fit together really well and was completely understandable.

The sex is hot and graphic, but I don’t think it’s steamy enough to turn off readers who enjoy M/M. There’s a strong emotional connection between Crawford and Finn that I really liked and helped me think this would be a lovely read for those who enjoy some M/M with their spicy stories. There’s also a really well resolved end to the story and a lovely Happily Ever After that had me sighing with pleasure. Recommended.

When appearances aren’t everything…

Shea Laporte is a twenty-four year-old professional twink. He gets his way with a bat of his eyelashes and a swish of his hips. Coffee bars, nightclubs and late, lazy mornings in bed are routine for him. He’s never regretted being who he is—after all, his lovers know what they’re signing up for—but he’s keeping a secret. One he’s more than happy to keep to himself until he meets Murdock ‘Murk’ Rouse, the new tenant in his apartment building.

Murk has been watching Shea flounce in and out of their shared complex for months. At first glance, he thought Shea was nothing better than the whores down on Eight Mile, but after one brief run-in with the spunky blond, he knows all Shea needs is a firm hand and a man who sees him for everything he is—smart, kinky and sexy as hell.

Shea Laporte has never seen more of his mysterious, dark haired neighbor than the twitching of his curtains when Shea arrives home late at night. Murdock “Murk” Rouse didn’t want to be just another of Shea’s sugar daddies or short term boyfriends. He wanted more. So he hung back, biding his time and trying to learn what he could about Shea. The slender man was a puzzle, and Murk loved to solve them, and he felt certain Shea would be worth the effort.

I really enjoyed how neither Murk nor Shea were at all what you perceived upon first glance. The author has done a great job of making both characters far more complex than you’d initially guess. Also I liked how even though this is a short story most of the focus is on Murk and Shea’s characters. This isn’t some quickie where the protagonists are introduced and they immediately set out to screw each other senseless. There’s a far more subtle game at play, and that’s something I really enjoy in my erotica. And when Murk and Shea finally do come together their sex scorches the pages and is well worth the wait.

There is some subtle, very mild cross dressing. While that kink isn’t a particular favourite of mine, it’s subtle enough (and well written enough) that I didn’t mind it at all. I would think that only readers who really hate any amount of men dressing in women’s lace panties (or a single, very brief section in the epilogue where there’s a little more cross dressing) will find this distasteful. If lace on men really turns you off, it might be an idea to give this a miss, but I’d still recommend the story for people who aren’t fussed. It’s just a small kink of Shea’s and the characters and story are well worth the read to my mind.

I enjoyed the happily ever after and really liked the depth of both Murk and Shea’s characters. Lace aside, this is a fairly standard M/M and I think it should appeal to many readers. Recommended.

Vincent has missed Julian for two years, but now The Master is on his way back…

After an altercation with Vincent, Julian leaves the ton as captain of Le Frai de Démon, trading his wares in foreign parts. Two years pass, two years of Vincent abstaining from sex and mourning the loss of his love.
Once a month, men gather in Devil’s Spawn, Julian’s club, and though Vincent doesn’t partake in sexual contact, he visits the club as a way to bring Julian closer despite his absence.

One night, Vincent’s life is turned upside down with the return of Julian. Though his heart tells him to open up and allow Julian in, his pride rears its stubborn head. Will Julian be able to break down the barriers? And will Vincent find out why Julian is really called The Master?

Sometimes a second chance is scarier than the first. Vincent has been waiting two long years for the love of his life to return from the sea. All that time Vincent has stayed true to Julian, even though he knows Julian has been with other men. However, nothing can dampen their feelings for each other – not time, distance, or other men. When Julian’s ship docks in the town once again, Vincent is torn between clinging to his hurt and wanting whatever he can get from Julian.

Vincent: Part One is the first in a five part series of short stories. I was pretty sure I’d read this years ago and when I saw it re-released with TEB, I wanted to read it again. Mostly I remembered it being smoking hot and I’m happy to say it certainly is! The story is just an introduction and rather short at that but it manages rather skillfully to give background on the two main characters while offering quite a bit of tension, both sexual and emotional, within the short pages. Vincent is an excellent narrator and almost immediately I could get into his head and feel his emotions. He feels surprisingly three-dimensional given the restraints of the short story. Yet I felt for the character, his hurt, and his love. I wanted to see the two men together and was drawn into their love affair, something that rarely happens for me in a short story.

Additionally the story is incredibly hot. The chemistry between Vincent and Julian leaps off the page from the moment they’re together and continues to build and build, far beyond the obvious climax. The BDSM nature of the story is definitely a component – Julian is called the master after all – but it’s subtle in this first book. I expect it’ll play a more prominent role in the series but the first book is extremely mild. Just a few hits with a crop and some ass play with a wooden phallus. But it does set up the dynamic between the two men. I am intrigued to see where the series go but I especially appreciated that Vincent is not a doormat. He’s a strong willed man that loves Julian whole heartedly but makes Julian work for his forgiveness, master or no.

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this on even a second reading. It’s clever and articulate and manages to offer a compelling emotional relationship alongside a combustible sexual one and all within the space of thirty pages or so. I’ve read full novels that don’t manage to do that so for that alone I’d recommend this short. And it’s free right now! But beyond those arguments, I found this short historical story to be engaging, wholly entertaining and smoking hot. It’s only a small time investment and hopefully readers will enjoy it as much as I did.

Dreams can come true—but sometimes nightmares are very real, too.

When Michael—Mikey—Fawkes bags himself a job as a handyman for a film production company and meets his favourite actor, gay porn star Colin Meighan, he believes his dream has come true. Colin indeed appears to be a dream turned to flesh. Handsome, young and as insatiable sexually as the roles he plays suggest, he makes his way into Mikey’s bed and introduces him to unknown carnal pleasures.

A slick lover and sweet talker, Colin also finds a place in Mikey’s heart, but as Mikey lets his new lover lure him deeper and deeper into a world of decadent on- and off-screen sex, their indulgences begin to take their toll on Mikey. Curious to find out more about the strange and inexplicable effect Colin has on his sex partners, Mikey discovers that there is a terrible reason why one man alone can never be enough to satisfy Colin’s hunger and he realises that dreams can come true—but sometimes nightmares are very real, too.

Be careful what you desire, you just might get it. Mikey has been lusting over his favorite porn star Colin for years. He’s seen all of Colin’s films and is shocked when his new job is a gopher on a porn set. He’ll finally get to see Colin in action. What happens goes beyond Mikey’s wildest dreams as he not only gets to know Colin on a personal level, but they actually start dating. Just when Mikey thinks he’s gotten everything he’s always wanted, he realizes there may be a price to pay. And it’s not a matter of money.

A Nightmare Come True is book one in a new series. The blurb specifically warns that the storyline will be an on-going arc throughout all the books. I didn’t know this going into the first book but I’m not sure new readers need to be warned as the book functions very well on it’s own with a definitive happy ending and conclusion to most problems. I assume the characters and story line will be embellished in future books. For the first book, it’s a decent introduction to both Mikey and Colin and the supernatural component of what exactly Colin is. I can’t say because it’s kind of a big reveal at the end but it’s definitely integral to the whole story.

I found the story easy to read and the characters likeable but there is an awful lot of sex. Now, I love some great sex scenes so I didn’t mind really but I did want to warn readers that there tends to be more sex scenes than anything else. Mikey and Colin’s relationship develops primarily through their intense physical attraction and later through an emotional one. I do think there are a few lingering questions, such as how Mikey and Colin can stay together long term but I think these will be addressed in later books. Instead here the story sets the porn stage and backdrop that the series will no doubt revolve around rather than go into a lot of detail and complexity with any character or the plot itself.

Sometimes I found myself frustrated with the lack of emotional relationship between the men when they were too focused on having lots of sex and ignoring the consequences. I would have liked to see more of their relationship outside the bedroom. However their desire to be together is very clear and they have obvious chemistry from the beginning. As a more erotica driven story than romance, I think readers will appreciate the many hot men in various positions having lots and lots of sex. Perhaps the romance will develop in later books but I think for a first book in the series, the story is entertaining.
