A while ago, I read the first book in this series. It was a standalone, as is this one, but I was hooked. Once more, Ms. McAllan, does a great job of pulling me into the world of Diomhair.

Secrets Remembered has a bunch of secrets and mysteries, first and foremost, who is the protagonist and what is she doing at Diomhair? Little by little, McAllan reveals the mystery and as she does so she also reveals amazing characters and a blooming romance that is off the charts.

Sadly, I felt that the change in Ailsa, the heroine, is too radical because she goes from hardly having any knowledge about BDSM and being very frightened to being the perfect submissive in the blink of an eye. From my point of view, the end became too fanciful and lost touch with the realism that seemed to permeate the rest of the story.

However, I would still recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for an interesting read with some sizzling BDSM sex.

His dedication not just to his job, but to getting justice for those who deserve it, is impressive. So when he takes a chance on Slade by taking him in and beginning a relationship with him, you aren’t surprised. You know he’s going to give everything to the kid and that if it doesn’t work out, it won’t be for a lack of trying.

As a follow-up to All Fired Up, Copping an Attitude is a darker and more intense story. Delving into the world of prostitution and the abuse and exploitation that goes along with it, this isn’t as light of a novel as its predecessor. However, I didn’t find the romance between Parker and Slade to be as believable as the one between Trent and Shawn in the first book. That said, Parker really does exhibit a ton of love and patience when it comes to winning Slade over and that makes up for a lot of things. Copping an Attitude is an excellent sequel and shows that Ms. Knight can really spin an intense story. I’m anxious to see where book three takes us.

Shawn Everly is what I like in a man. He’s stable, he’s gorgeous, and he’s just alpha enough to get things done, but not so alpha that you want to kick him in the shin every time he opens his mouth. Considering he’s a cop, that last bit is a huge surprise. I love that he’s able to take the teasing, harassing, and everything else his partner and coworkers throw at him in stride. It says a lot about his character that he didn’t shoot any of them, especially after the embarrassing incident at the beginning of the story. He’s the exact kind of partner that Trent needs.

Now Trent Marshall, on the other hand, is a bit too alpha for my tastes. However, as you begin to become privy to his backstory, you begin to understand why he acts like he does. His overprotective streak borders on obsessiveness at times and it can be a real turn off. Thankfully, Shawn helps him come to terms with the loss of his former boyfriend, who was also a police officer. Once Shawn begins to cope with that, his domineering attitude loosens up somewhat, making him much more likable.

I will admit that as a local of this odd town, I was looking for inconsistencies or errors and I am happy to report that I didn’t find any. That always impresses me because it’s too easy to choose a city and make it up as you go along, but in this case, I was able to easily picture where Shawn and Trent were at all times. The author obviously did her research and it shows.

All Fired Up is an extremely sexy and sweet story about two first responders who can’t get enough of each other. It’s a very real example of how hard it is to work as either a police officer or fireman and how much harder it is to love someone who is either. It’s a great introduction into a new series and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Knight has in store for us next.

Cade Davenport is a gardener with a secret – he sometimes stars in adult films for his boss’ husband. He’s smooth, charming, and completely irresistible as far as Reece is concerned. I wasn’t sure I was going to like Cade much at first, it’s clear he’s leading Reece on, but for what reason you don’t quite know at first. Once you figure it out, it makes him a little less sketchy and more likable.

In part one of Caught on Camera, the scene is set. Reece is seduced and then scandalized by Cade. I was a bit surprised that Cade was so bold as to send Reece a video containing the steamy highlights of their afternoon tryst, but the more you get to know Cade, the less surprising it becomes. In part two, the fun really begins. During this second installment, you get to see Reece loosen up and begin to become more comfortable with himself and his newfound role as porn star. You can see an inkling of a real attraction blossoming between the two men and that only makes the sex hotter and the passion more intense. The third installment really ups the ante by flying the boys to Vegas before adding adult film star stud Bret Hadden into the mix. Soul Temptation is the second book in the Souls Entwined series and its not just about Serene’s awakening, but it also deals with Oliver’s interaction with his father and the family business. It is also a love story and despite the fact that they are now related by marriage, Oliver and Serene want to take their relationship to the next level. I enjoyed Soul Temptation because of the many layers the story has. It is a good story, somewhat slow in some areas and it could use better proofing, but all in all it was a very good read.

That said, there were a few things I struggled with. I’m not a tall person at 5 feet tall. For Russell to struggle with driving the SUV…he’d have to be shorter than me. Did that make him less handsome or harder for me to see in my mind? No, but that hard-to-believe detail did detract from the story a bit. The cabin in the woods and meeting in a snowstorm trope has been used, but Alexander writes the story in a fresh way that had me invested in what would happen next. Also, Xavier and Russell seemed to know rather fast that they were meant to be. For some, this might be a problem. I actually liked this angle because love can happen in a matter of minutes.

If you want a book that’s got hot moments among the cold, then this might be the book for you. Recommended.

The connection between Jess and David is palpable from the start. Their talk, their banter, the way they act and react around each other is very well written and easily drew me into their heads.

David is my type of favorite hero: handsome, hard-headed, unable to give up, dominant, alpha and yet capable of laughing and enjoying life. Jess is his perfect counterpart: intelligent, beautiful, in control of her world, except when she’s with him. That change in attitude when David is around is what makes their Dom/sub relationship perfect. That, and the way Ms. McAllan describes their attraction and the sizzling sex that promptly ensues.

The story between David and Jess ends happily, but the author expertly delivers one more blow that has enticed me to read the next book in the series.

Secrets Shared is a well written spicy read with love, attraction and a little mystery, that you won’t be able to put down.

One of my favorite parts of writing is being able to put my own spin on reality. Taking something that is not of the real world and making it come to life. Creating a reality different to this world and where readers want to live. Be a part of the story as it unfolds.

To do this I can make it up totally in my thoughts and build it or take pieces of history, folklore and other interesting tidbits and molding it into what I want to. Doing this is a powerful aphrodisiac. The balance of creating a story that brings a person into it is just like a seductive dance. First you have to let them get a feel of your rhythm. Once they do then you move to the groove. Spinning it around. Weaving that reality to bring them deeper into the reality you’ve built. This is what I strive for in each world I build.

In the world and myths of my latest release Firestorm Encounters (Phoenix Intelligence Agency, Book #5) this is what I’ve done—put my own spin on reality. I’ve taken many parts of history, folklore and other interesting tidbits to create the world of the story. In writing the book I sank into the myths that I was creating. It was fun to bring in various things I find fascinating. Kaitya Erutan, my heroine is an Amazonian Warrior and Firebird which are two powerful races. Kaitya is a recently made hybrid and she is coming to terms with that when fate puts a man who will change her life in her path. The mythology of her and the world she inhabits grows with each book. This mythology is embedded into the very earth. Fyodor, the Shadow King has many obligations and things to overcome. The two come together as a couple and each has their own quirks and personality which leads them on a road to love. It is an exhilarating ride for them. As usual I put a major spin within the story which makes the series keep evolving and growing. When I built the world of the Phoenix Intelligence Agency I knew it would have so much to be revealed brick by brick and layer by layer. There are so many beings and things in that world to explore. As I write each book I’m having a wonderful time laying down the layers of the world and going on each adventure.

Each time I write a new book I wonder where I can go next. I get to push boundaries of belief and bring the reader into the journey of the story. I love doing that and making up worlds that become real. A world which readers want to become a part of. That is the thing with writing, you get to do a spin on reality.

In a world where the only allowed relationships are those with marks, Nick and Barrett live, love, and laugh as much as they can together, all the while praying nothing changes for them. Unfortunately fate stepped in and Nick develops a soulmark on his neck. When Barrett fails to show a similar mark immediately they are devastated knowing they should part, but neither one wants to give up on their relationship, regardless of the consequences.

Only You is book two in the Soulmarked series by Willa Okati. I didn’t realize this when I got the book but it was easy enough to understand what was going on. There were certain characters and situations that I was lost without the previous information but since the focus of the book is on Nick and Barrett I could get by decently. I do think readers should start with the first book in the series and then move to this one but this definitely wasn’t one where new readers would be totally lost start to finish. That said the characters are engaging and I liked their relationship. I get the feeling there is a lot of instant love in this world of soulmarked pairs so it was nice to see a couple that built their relationship in a familiar way. Now they were faced with keeping that relationship together against the odds.

I think the story threw a few too many unnecessary tangents in to make the narration gripping. There is the set up for the third book with Daniel and the continuation of the first book with brief appearances by that couple. None of these scenes really added to the story or the main couple at all. Additionally I got the feeling that sex kind of cured a lot of the problems between the men. As long as they were having sex, life was good. There was very little communication between Nick and Barrett about how to solve their problem, instead a lot of aborted talks, sex, and deep individual thinking. I could feel their strong connection and love so I liked the ending, which seems obvious but I thought the book would go a different direction.

Overall I enjoyed reading this despite the fact that I came into the series late. I think it’s an easy read and one that fans of the author will enjoy. The writing is very typical of everything I’ve read of this author so I also think it’s a good book for those new to the author to see if they like her style. It’s not one I’d read again but I liked the side character of Daniel enough that I may check out his book next in the series.
