Mastering Maya is the second story and at once, I was captivated by Lisbet Sarai’s vision. Maya is a Domme that stays detached from her subs during dungeon play and feels the eyes of a new Dom watching from the audience. The magnetism and pride take them both in interesting directions. The name, Master Shark, was different, but it didn’t change the way I felt about the story. It was hot. The building tension between the two characters was fire hot and when they ended up at opposite ends of the flogger, things sizzled and popped.

Wagers of Sin is the third piece and Elizabeth Coldwell does an excellent job of teasing the senses with her description of a Dom having the tables turned on him and the sub taking the reins. I eagerly turned the pages on this one and could not get enough of her descriptive style.

Still the One is the fourth story by Wendy Zwaduk. This story was a little different as it has a setting in the racing world and not in the usual bondage situations. Here you have a man stressed out of his mind and erupting after his promotion into the job of manager. His friend has a suggestion that will blow his mind in more ways than one and we are happily along for the ride. This is an original story and a bit lighter than some of the other reads in this collection, but the application is still the same. Boy, isn’t it nice to see the tables turned and oh what a relief it can be.

Switching Off is story number five. It is penned by Amy Valenti and as with anything I have ever read by this author, it gets right into hot sex scenes and some pretty interesting predicaments. Management is stressful. No doubt about it. How wonderful that our heroine Nina has a Dom in the closet friend in Jon who can help her with her little problem. And take her in hand he does. Nina was a bit of a pill at first, but as Jon works her into submission, I found myself sighing contentedly wishing I could borrow him for awhile.

Who Compels My Strength is the last piece and was written by Lauren Gallagher. I enjoyed this story. What if you thought you knew somebody and had sort of, well, slept with their husband a few times in a swinger kind of way and all of a sudden they judge you for your kinky ways? People are funny. It happens all the time. When Bridget and Ian are left feeling bewildered after their dinner date goes off kilter, Bridget has a plan to turn the tables to see things from the other side of the whip so to speak. This story was imaginative and really led you into what it feels like to hold a Dom in your clutches and have your wicked way with him. Seriously. I was half taking notes.

These stories are perfect for readers of BDSM erotic fiction that want a bit of a change. It was great to see the tables turned on Doms/Dommes and see the other side of the coin is just as shiny. Absolutely stunning with imagery, sex scenes, dialog and overall emotional draw for the reader, this book has some great scenarios. The only points in the book that bothered me at all were very minor. Master Shark as a character name in Mastering Maya and Nina’s attitude in Switching Off, but neither of those things made any impact (with a flogger or otherwise) on my extreme savoring of this collection.

If you are game for a bit of a different flick of the wrist, try this collection. You won’t be disappointed. It is one of my favorite reads lately.

It is rare to see a couple that you immediately know they are meant for each other, even if they do not realize it. They are one of those lucky couples. It made the reading of this story that much more entertaining because I just wanted to see how they got past their personal issues to eventually recognize what I knew all along.

Beckett’s story is one that really touched my heart on many levels. He may be young in age, but his circumstances have made him extremely wise in many ways. Even as a child he was forced to grow up quickly and be the parent that his mother and father couldn’t be in some ways. This, coupled with the relationship with his siblings really helped to mold him. I like that while he many seen reckless and naive, in fact he is just a person who is finally getting to live his life with a little less weight on his shoulders. It made me root for him as the story went along and really hope that he got the help and compassion that he truly deserved.

This book is a true underdog story and because of it, made me sympathize with the characters. The emotional attachment I experienced because of this really kept the pages turning. Add in an entertaining plot and the next thing I knew, I had finished the story and was left wanting more. It was that good.

Woods managed to draw out emotions in me while reading that I haven’t had come up in a while. Each page I became more and more invested in these two men. I laughed, cried and wanted them to get their happily ever after.

This book might not be for everyone. It’s not a light and easy read. There are strong emotions and some serious issues dealt with in the pages. At first I pitied Reese. The guy was given a rough hand, but as the story progressed I realized I didn’t pity him as much as I rooted for him to get what he deserved. Doug. Doug isn’t a saint. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good guy, but he’s done things he regrets, but the interplay between Doug and Reese is so emotional. I loved every moment.

If you like a book that will reel you in and not let go even after the last page, then you might be looking for Holding On.

Gage and Russ have a one sided mating and they both knew it was only a matter of time until Russ found his mate. Russ gets points for not immediately throwing Gage aside when he finds Kaden. The idea of triad of mates was intriguing and very well done.

This is the first in a new series and it has the makings of a great series. More backstory on the war would have helped this story but it wasn’t so confusing you couldn’t figure out what was going on. The love between the three wolves was explosive. I could easily see these characters falling in love, I loved that with such a short story that the author didn’t expect me to buy into lasting love instantly. Yes, they are fated mates and will of course love each other but it was nice that it was built up to and not instant.

If you love hot werewolf stories with hot men falling in love during wartime, you’ll love this story. So pick this story up and you’ll find yourself hooked and impatiently waiting for the next in the series with me.

The characters were wholly believable and certainly had me investing in them, and the theme – betrayal – was really well handled. It was realistic, the emotions eloquently portrayed, and the complex twists and turns of a heart, and head, in pain was beautifully put onto the page.

Francesca’s agony was tangible, as was her bitterness and confusion. My heartstrings actually tugged reading her story, and I completely understood why her friends, best friend in particular, had to take a stand. The flashbacks were hot and soul wrenching. They made me feel she really had lost the best guy ever!

Mark, when he finally appears, is everything she remembers him to be. I don’t want to give any plot details away, but suffice to say as a reader I was not disappointed in the least.

Ms Black is a new author for me and I will eagerly be on the look out for more of her books. Love, Interrupted is definitely a read I would recommend because of how totally the author had me rooting for the characters and how she didn’t shy away from tackling a complex range of emotions that could have gone wrong without the proper amount of thought and skill. Great read!

Julianne and her husband Charles were involved in a car accident that killed him and almost took the life of her unborn baby. Her daughter Marissa was born at twenty-two weeks and was not expected to live. Now for Julianne, it’s she and her daughter together weathering any storm that may come their way.

Keenan Callaghan is an ex cop who after helping a fire investigator solve an arson, decided that he wanted to become an investigator. When he met Julianne in the hospital after the fire, he was immediately drawn to her and promised himself that once the investigation was done he would pursue her. He asked her to go out with him but she refused, however she finally asked him to go out with her after running into him and his niece while rollerblading with Marissa.

Hurricane is a story of love lost and new beginnings, Julianne and Keenan knew that they wanted to be together but she had issues. The story moved a little slow at first which had this reader a little bored, but then once they started to delve into why she couldn’t allow herself to love again, it piqued my interest again. Hurricane is a good story and Taige Crenshaw is a great storyteller, I’ve read many books by this author and can say she is one of my favorites. The supporting characters were entertaining and helped to round everything out. I wouldn’t say that Hurricane is a ‘must read’ but it is a pleasant read and one you may enjoy.

Deena Stevens operates a farm in an upscale neighborhood selling her pesticide free vegetables and eggs to the women there. As a result, the ‘Botox Brigade’ which she lovingly calls them, has included her in their monthly book club meetings which is led by Suzanne. Not being as polished as they are, Deena is comfortable with the few extra pounds she wears and the haphazard way she wears her hair. This particular day, Deena was late as always for the meeting which led to Suzanne calling her and yelling about her tardiness.

Bill Swenson is the handyman Suzanne uses to fix things around her house, it doesn’t hurt that he’s tall, blond and gorgeous. Which is why Suzanne constantly finds things for him to fix; after all who wouldn’t want such a beautiful man around? One look at Bill and Deena knew that he would never be interested in her until she took a second look and realized that Bill was her summer camp crush when they were fifteen.

This was a very good story, the author portrayed a not so perfect woman among cosmetically perfect ones and still showed how love can look past the surface. Not everyone is perfect but everyone deserves a chance at love, and Bill wanted Deena. Suzanne was the bitch you knew you would hate, especially with her snide remarks, and scheming ways. She couldn’t stand that Bill only had eyes for Deena, especially when he had someone as perfect as her in front of him. Mr. Fix-It is an enjoyable read and if you do pick up a copy I hope that you will enjoy it as much as this reader did.

I particularly liked the scene in the boardroom when she is hidden under his desk. You can guess what happens I’m sure! All good fun and hot stuff!

If you want a quick read that’s not just steamy but also has emotion and a past, present and future then Switching the Control would be a good choice.

Johnny Francis, the new butler in the household, has been secretly watching Lizzie and joining in the fun in his own way. After a short discussion, wrought with sexual tension, Johnny, who isn’t exactly what he seems, convinces Lizzie to act on her wildest fantasy. She puts herself in her boss’ shoes and becomes a lady of the evening; Johnny dutifully acting as her customer.

This was an entertaining short story. The writing was vibrant, and helped keep me in post-World War II England. Lizzie had a good heart, but was lonely and stuck in her position in life with little hope of escape. She was sassy, but smart, and seemed to know the appropriate times to speak and keep quiet.

Johnny was a little harder to peg. He was definitely love-struck, and a genuine man at heart, but other than his intense feelings for Lizzie, we didn’t get to see much of the rest of his personality. He was likable, but I would have liked to have gotten to know a little more about him.

As the book ended, I was happy for the couple and believed their feelings for each other. The beginning, however, it felt a little awkward. This may be because the first quarter of the story focused heavily on Emmaline and her “customer” for the evening, instead of the background of the relationship between Johnny and Lizzie. There was mention of how they interacted a little, and the reader knows the two are attracted to the other, but neither has told the other. To jump into a sexual act so quickly was physically hot, but I initially didn’t feel the connection between the two. After further conversations and time, however, the love they felt for each other began to emerge and they go their happily ever after.

I give credit to any author attempting to write in a foreign time or place, and Ms. Dae does it very well. If you’re looking for a fun, historical escape mixed with a love story, Minute Maid fits the bill.
