I really loved seeing the two main couples together first, finding their chemistry and having them set the tone. Then watching them come together as a foursome – with all the discussions, emotions and complexities that brought. I loved how nothing was really glossed over, at least not to my mind. Everyone’s goals were discussed, worries, what each of them wanted to achieve. Secrets were bared and honesty was integral to the blending process. This really read to me as how two groups of friends could enter into a foursome in a real way, deepen an intimate relationship and make something so highly complex work for all involved.

I loved how there was tons of sex – but more importantly there was strong love and a connection behind it all. At no stage did I feel like various characters were simply pairing off – or swapping over – to complete a check list of whom had been with whom. The author has done an amazing job of keeping the flow natural and wickedly logical. Each scene followed smoothly from the last, and the characters exploring and refining their relationships and boundaries was a delight to watch unfold.

I really enjoyed this book. Great sex, loving and interesting characters mingled in with an emotional and highly sensitive plotline have melded together for a wonderful book. I greedily devoured the entire novel in one sitting and am looking forward to immediately jumping back into it to catch all those small things one invariably misses upon first reading. A loving and emotional book that’s gone directly onto my keeper shelf. Highly recommended.

This isn’t a story where the main characters meet, fall instantly in love and have large amounts of rambunctious sex. Each have their own baggage, and both have plenty of stuff to work through to find their way to each other. I enjoyed how the story didn’t drag, but didn’t gloss over any of the hurdles and race to the finish line either. I feel the author should be commended on the pacing of this story.

I also really enjoyed the characters. Levi and Philip were both vivid, three-dimensional to me. I felt a particular kinship to Levi and found myself very sympathetic toward him. While the plot “twist” toward the end is easily guessed – as is the ramifications and resolution – I still was impressed that there was a plot, and a decent one to boot. Not just a throwaway, easily “fixed” thing made to pad out the sex. While not precisely original, I found the timing and conflict really added to the characters development and the forward motion of the relationship.

A strongly written, heartfelt erotic romance, this is a lovely story to curl up with. It’s great for a relaxing weekend with a lovely hit of spicy sex and tons of emotion. I really enjoyed the characters and pacing and would happily try another book by this author.

This tale starts off well, tracking down animals. The writing is fluent and engaging, and both men, July and Rhys, are hotter than a sunny day in June. Their dialogue is fun and light. Unfortunately the sex is off-screen, so to speak. Nonetheless, a quirky start to the anthology. Recommended.

Black, One Sugar by Jae Christopher

Aaron and David meat through a mutual friend, on a blind date. They hit it off in a big way, compatible and easy. But David harbors a secret, and eventually it comes out, putting the two men in need of a decision.

We get this story in first person from David. The outing isn’t a pretty scene, with yelling and anger. It’s almost like prejudiced hate talk. Kinda sad. But apologies follow, and the scene is set for a real talk among adults. Progressive is the fact there’s a drug for lycanthropy, like a real disease, known in the world. David describes his condition starkly, as a full sensory experience, giving the character depth for such a short story. Still, all dialogue, no sex in this one. The funny thing is that the whole incident started with coffee….

Night of the Jackal by V.L. Locey

Jasim and Sahl are jackal shifters. This is a fantasy tale, where the two men get into trouble in the desert with the Madr Pash’s hunter caravan encampment and its chief. Jasim is caught and Sahl has to rescue him.

We get this from Sahl’s first person point of view. He describes the jackal life as a harsh one, with all kinds of enemies close to the riverbed they call home. The story is also told in present tense, which can take some getting used to. The details of how a jackal interacts and senses the world are given in great detail, which was a unique and descriptive way of writing. Plus, the change is apparently painful, so Sahl and Jasim are rarely human men. So much so that while it’s easy to engage in the plight of captured animals, as men in love… I didn’t quite get there. But of the stories in this anthology, this one most captured the essence of being an animal with a human mind.

Raising Cain by Winnie Jerome

You think combining a role-playing convention, a hot shifter, and geek is impossible? Then you’ll love this. Blake is ultimate geek who is rescued at a parking lot by a mysterious man. Then he plays against the same mysterious Cain—with whom they have explosive sex. But then he finds Cain in a ritualistic scene, changing into a huge dog, and all bets are off.

Memorial Day for a murdered pack omega. Damien, brings about a melancholy mood, and then his ex-lover, Joshua the minister’s son, appears, seeking shelter with the pack and confusing things. Death follows in his wake.

This reads like a family tale despite the paranormal twist. Themes like acceptance and loss are dealt with subtlely. The impact of death is shown well, as it effects both humans and wolves. The hunting scene as wolves and the subsequent sex and mating are written with a sensuous tone. When Joshua arrives in need of protection, the story takes a darker turn toward action, rage, murder and vengeance. What’s amazing about this story is that the human community is willing to come in defense of the wolf pack when needed. That gave the story a larger context of friendship.

Nuts, Bolts, and Chihuahuas by Tray Ellis

Arlo’s responsible for the protection of an ancient canine talisman. At a local hardware store he meets TJ, the owner’s son. Then Arlo’s shifter secret gets out (a Chihuahua…adorable!) when TJ sees Arlo doing his guarding thing.This little tale read like a chapter in a longer story. We don’t get to see the talisman, we don’t learn why bad guys want it, and we see no real resolutions. A few kisses, no sex. When this ends, you’ll likely feel the same as me: What just happened? Is this it?

The Dingo Ate My Dildo by Rob Rosen

An American journalist goes on assignment to the Australian outback to a tiny shed in the middle of nowhere. Since no one’s around, he decides to go sunbathing naked. Told in present tense, this tale is sweet and sexy. With little bits of dialogue, both characters come through clearly. Zach’s the big bad wolf and Tobias the cute puppy. Despite being animal shifters, these men feel realistic and nice. Though not typically a fan of present tense, I liked everything about this story.

Search and Rescue by Lorn Rodman

Clancy’s a hybrid wolf and Terry’s a mind-reader. They volunteer at search and rescue, their only goal in life to help others (and make a little profit as they go). Because of their abilities and secrets, they’re both alone. When they find each other, it feels like a miracle.

It was wonderful to read about a different kind of pairing, a wolf and a psychic. Plus, they want to help others with their gift, so that made them all the more endearing. Their banter is delicious and fun, their connection pure, and their sex awesome. A great ending to the anthology. Recommended.

Even though Quincy quickly talks himself out of starting something – his last boyfriend had stomped his heart to pieces – he simply can’t resist Topaz. Things aren’t as simple as Quincy first believed though, and as tempting and fun as Topaz is, Quincy struggles to embrace life as fully as his lover does.

This is a wonderful, vibrant story, full of colour and laughter. I really enjoyed the four main characters. Stephen and Leo are soul-mates, but have plenty of love left over for Topaz. The three men live together, sharing their lives and hearts. Although it’s not a traditional house, it’s filled to the brim with sunshine and happiness, and there’s plenty left over for Quincy to share. Topaz can see something within Quincy, something that calls to him. I loved how Topaz needed to be patient, for as wonderful as their household is, it wouldn’t be an easy life for Quincy to just dive straight into. And as tempting as the author has made it, I relished that realism – the doubt and worry, the fact it took time for Quincy to feel as if he fitted into the dynamic. Topaz, Leo and Stephen have a magic all their own, and slowly but surely Quincy finds himself being woven in, and I felt it didn’t detract one inch from the fun and colourfulness of the men’s lives.

Added on, Quincy and Topaz really share something special, something magical. Neither man can deny it and I enjoyed watching them grow and flourish together, become something greater than the sum of their parts. Even when I felt sad, when the drama buffered against them, there is just something so bright, so lovely about Topaz and his outlook. The sex is smoking hot, but I really found it was the relationship between the men – all four of them – that took center stage. For this story, I thought that was wonderful and added a depth others sometimes miss. Yes, there’s plenty of sex, and delightfully so – but it’s the interactions between the men and the complexities of their relationship that really makes this book so awesome.

A fun, heartwarming story that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I feel this should appeal to a wide range of readers, especially ones who like something more complex than your average erotic romance. Recommended.

How about a couple of tales from out of this world? The first is about a woman warrior with a dragon; the second is about a very good cook that gets herself and her whole kitchen transported to a space ship. Neither story is boring!

Short stories are fun to read because the author has to get his/her storyline across with a minimal number of words and also needs to make them interesting enough to garner your attention. Ms. Glassman does a very good job with that. She also has a good imagination and can make your eyes stick to the pages as you read. Her sense of humor is also apparent.

The first story is my favorite, partly because the woman is a warrior trained by a wizard and partly because she has a pet dragon that turns into a horse when it’s tired. (Sounds handy, doesn’t it?) She’s trying to make some money and enters a contest to earn the prize: a woman. The man who contracted with her says she’s his bride to be. It’s untrue…

The second story is the one that made me chuckle. If you aren’t Jewish or don’t have Jewish friends, the humor might escape you. The cook is getting ready for Passover when she’s transported onto a space ship. The aliens look strange but what they want is her cooking. They ask her to make a meal. She does; they love it. Now they are going to keep her. So she cooks again and gives them matzo to eat. The results could be expected…

Here you have two great stories that are fun to read and don’t take too long. You could even fit them in during coffee breaks if you read fast. Why not go back to work with a smile on your face?

From snowed-in airports to walking down the aisle, Noah and Sawyer know one thing is certain: true love is delicious.

Noah was stuck at the airport, grounded by snow. It’s the day before Valentine’s day, and he hasn’t seen Sawyer for almost two weeks. Despite the fact they’d never made a big deal out of the day before, this was the first Valentine’s day they’d been engaged for, and for some reason Noah wanted it to be special.

I found this to be a really sweet and somewhat tender story. This is the first book I’ve read about these two men, and even though this is clearly mid-way through a series, I didn’t find that detracted at all from my enjoyment.

Noah and Sawyer are a solid, very loving couple and watching their antics was fun and delicious. There was none of that awkward, getting-to-know-you stage but it was lovely to still see them learning new things and exploring their future together. I thoroughly enjoyed this and was really excited to read more about these two.

Birthday Cake:

It’s Sawyer’s birthday, and Noah wants to give him a special day. While they always spent their birthdays together, Sawyer only wanted a day with Noah – so that was exactly what he planned to get. When Noah discovers Sawyer has a few tricks up his sleeve, the day turns out to be far more important – and special – than he could have ever imagined.

I really enjoyed this story. Sawyer and Noah are both extremely comfortable with each other, but it was nice to see Noah have to stretch a little. Sawyer might be the singer and musician, but Noah has a lovely voice and Sawyers insistence that he wants Noah to sing with him for his birthday is a really fun, special present.

I thought the small twist at the end was an excellent rounding out of this fun and heart-warming short story.

Wedding Cake:

Noah and Sawyer are getting married in just a few days. They’re in Boston with a whole bunch of their friends and Noah’s parents have turned up. Everyone is there – except for Sawyer’s family. But with so much to celebrate, and such an important, joyous occasion before them, neither man can think of anything except the other.

This is another really sweet, mostly happy short story that I thoroughly enjoyed. These snapshots of both Sawyer and Noah’s life have been fun and I’ve liked seeing them come together and be so happy in their relationship and being together. Noah and Sawyer are so deeply in love, watching them get married and celebrate that special moment was just magical.

This book is a nice collection of short stories that all revolve around a few couples. In these shorts, we meet Jim and Marcus, Billy and Tanny as well as Simon and Jeremy. Each of these couples has their own story to tell and if you follow this author and The Hammer series you will recognize their names and may have even read their stories. However this collection gives us short glimpses into their private lives. These men are devoted to one another and will always be each other’s rock. Each couple must face their own dilemmas and readers are taken along for the ride.

These stories are full of emotions and there are some intense sexual scenes between the subs and their Doms. The love and devotion between these men is so strong in these stories that you can just about reach out and touch it. I enjoyed getting a look at each of the couple’s intimate moments and loved all of the men. They all have unique relationships that give each man just what he needs. Every man is different; from a shy quiet sub to one who goads his Dom and another who needs something entirely different. I loved the differences in all the men and their relationships. While every relationship is different the love and trust is the same and just as strong. Love comes easily for these men and is shown freely.

While you can read this collection by itself I think that reading their initial books would make this a much better read and understanding of what these couples have gone through and the love that they have for each other. This book enhances their original stories and should not be missed.

ZA: And the Dead Shall Rise is the sequel to another ZA book but easily can be read on its own. I haven’t read the other book but this one focuses on Guy and Tracey almost exclusively so readers won’t be lost or confused. The story is decent with the expected harrowing circumstances: zombies overrunning the city, needing supplies, encountering other survivors, the quest for safety of some sort in the new world. At the same time the relationship between Guy and Tracey advances quickly, as one might expect, from hot sex to something deeply emotional as well. I found the story rather uneven with action in fits and starts. Sometimes it would go so fast I felt as if I was speed reading but other times the action would slow down considerably with lengthy conversations that seem redundant or unnecessary. I found my attention sharpening or waning depending on the pace of the story, which often would pull me out of the enjoyment of the book.

Guy and Tracey are enjoyable characters with depth but they lack subtly and nuance. They’re both exceptionally well suited, too well suited, to the apocalypse with multiple necessary skills that will ensure their survival over almost anyone else. They seemed a little too perfect sometimes and I was confused by the progress of their relationship. While it made sense and I enjoyed watching the two move from hot and seriously kinky sex to companionship between long time lovers that still have hot and kinky sex, sometimes I was baffled by their lengthy conversations. They would ask each other inane questions such as favorite color or movie in an effect to get know each other better but from my perspective those answers no longer matter when the world as you know it ends. It’s not as if the daily minutiae of life affects compatibility when survival is the most important factor and likely will be for the foreseeable future. Instead of caring what kind of music the other person likes, I’d be more interested in whether we could work together, and withstand each other’s personalities, to ensure we stayed alive and zombie free with sex as an added bonus.

The story has some really enjoyable moments but it ends up being this odd mix of normal relationship progression from attraction to sex to emotions to commitment and love and a race for survival in a new world order. To me it always felt as if they were from two separate stories instead of one cohesive book. I think this will likely work best for readers who liked the other book in the series.

This is a lovely story, rather like tales my grandmother used to tell me, full of wild woods, animals that act like familiars and all sorts of magical creatures. Of course, it’s rather sexier than anything I recall from my childhood – but that just added to my enjoyment! I really enjoyed how the timing and place of this story could be almost anywhere, anytime. While not contemporary, whether this is historical, an alternate earth or just a fable is left vague, and I have found myself numerous times after finishing my first read through of it pondering this. I have to assume the author has left that open for interpretation on purpose, and I find that a masterful stroke. This is a story about a man and a fairy, thrown together by circumstances and Father Winter. Geoff and Mauve come together and learn about themselves and each other.

I loved watching Mauve and Geoff bond and build their relationship. They learn about not only each other but the pleasure they could share. The pacing of the whole story was something I found particularly perfect. Geoff and Mauve learned about each other physically and sexually, but I really enjoyed their talks about the differences in their lives, their cultures. They connected on many levels and this made the sex even sweeter – and hotter – for me. Toward the end I was terrified the ending wouldn’t be all I hoped, but I was completely proven wrong – it was even better than I imagined it. I can’t believe even the most die-hard of romance readers being disappointed. This is a sweet, hot, lovely old-style tale and I can’t wait to reread it.

A wonderful, magical read.

Thor and Paul are wonderful together, with sizzling chemistry and unable to keep their hands off each other. I found this a funny, sweet and romantic read. While initially the men were both happy to just hook up, the bond they formed together quickly deepened and I found the ending really satisfying. Sexy and full of tenderness, this is an excellent read for romantics looking for a bit of spice, or M/M readers who are easing themselves into the genre. I really enjoyed this wonderful book.
