I’m a sucker for short stories and even more of one for tortured heroes. This short story certainly delivered on the tortured front. My heart bled for Jake.

I commend the author on tackling a difficult topic. There are some people who look at the world through the lens of depression and can’t see a way out. There are others who need order and logic, but can’t comprehend emotion. That’s Jake. The author wrote him in a fashion that made me both love and hate him. I didn’t like how combative and sharp-tongued he could be, but I’ve known people like Jake, so in that sense he was realistic. As for the other hero, I appreciated his desire to stick with his mission.

That said, this wasn’t the kind of book I might have picked up otherwise. There were rough edges to the characters and the ending wasn’t what I expected. If you’re looking for something fluffy and light, then this might not be the short story you’re wanting. But if you want something a little coarser, then this is the kind of story you’ve probably wanted for quite a while.

I like the work of DC Juris. I have for a while. I know I’ll get hot characters who can’t wait to get together and will probably have lots of sex before the story is through. This short story was no different. Well, no. It was different, but it worked. The writing was good and I read this in one sitting, so it was a great way to spend the lunch hour.

That said, I had a few quibbles. There were a couple of spelling errors that bugged me (form versus from, for example), but once I got to the next sentence, it wasn’t as much of a problem. Another one was the story itself. Malagan and Orion are solid characters and I suspect there are more stories in this world. If there are, then reading those would definitely be a good thing. I wasn’t lost, but I kept thinking I’d missed a few things along the way. This is a very short read and while one character is pining for one character, the interaction is with another. Now, its HAWT interaction. I loved Malagan. Strong, tough, but he knows what he’s doing. Solid. Orion was plenty angsty and was good for the story. But this felt like a taste test instead of a fully fleshed story. I hope there’s another story in this world, because that door is certainly left open.

Still, it’s a hot read and anyone who likes a short, meaty BDSM story won’t be disappointed. Grab a copy and see for yourself.

I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this story. In my opinion, the author did an amazing job with it. Charlie had been rescued by Julius from slavery and so Charlie’s past was incredibly checkered and I found Charlie to be a deeply interesting and complex character. I really liked how Marcus knew and understood so much about Charlie’s past – so the pace of the story could be kept at a good clip, without massive amounts of info-dumpling to explain everything to the reader. This history, however, understandably made Marcus reluctant, not certain of how to handle Charlie best while still loving him and wanting do to what was right. I found this gave the whole story a bit of a darker tone than I had originally expected. Charlie craves the pain, needs his limits seriously pushed and this is a very fine line to walk, between what is too much and how much Charlie needs in his submission.

While I personally really really enjoyed this story, there’s quite a few hot buttons that might not appeal to other readers. Charlie’s sex slave history – though it’s not gone into in detail and as much as possible is laid out in a positive manner, it’s present and very integral to Charlie and his needs. Also the level of pain and submission Charlie needs probably won’t appeal to lighter readers, or those new/unknowing to M/M BDSM style stories. All that said, I thought it was tastefully written and strongly emotional. I enjoyed how the author progressed Charlie and Marcus’ relationship without glorying anything from the negative past but also showing me as the reader why Marcus pushed Charlie. I felt the love and need from both characters and this helped me enjoy the slightly harder, darker sex the two men enjoyed together.

Not a short story that will appeal to everyone’s tastes, I however loved this and would strongly recommend it to those who like the envelope pushed just a little. While I didn’t think there was anything outrageous in the storyline, this isn’t a light, fluffy tale and I think sometimes that’s exactly what I want to read. A brilliant short story and an author I will certainly be checking out again.

I found this to be quite fast-paced, which I found surprisingly enjoyable. Like a speeding train, events unfold one after another like dominoes falling. I thought this was both excellent and difficult. I liked it because needing to know what happened next kept me turning the pages, completely addicted. The only real down side to this was I felt a little like I just couldn’t catch my breath and enjoy each moment.

Lucky and Jack’s relationship has a few rough patches in this story. I was quite nervous for them in a few places but was delighted that things always got resolved – usually with a lot of very hot sex! One thing I really loved was how the author somehow managed to make something that sounds absolutely insane not just actually occur, but make sense. I can’t imagine any other situation where a specific threesome could occur. Somehow Lucky and Jack (and clearly the author!) make the absurd completely possible and damn hot at the same time.

A fun, fast romp, this is an awesome short story and one I enjoyed.

His drag persona, Honey, is a total extention of himself and, in many ways, she’s the man he wants to be. Honey’s forthright, determined and unafraid. She’s also an incurable flirt and all around great gal. I loved the way she helped Rob cope with his feelings for Boone as well as bring them together in the end.

I’m going to come right out and say it – I’m a sucker for a guy in drag. The level of confidence it takes to put on a dress and heels – something I don’t even do as a woman – takes more courage than I’ll ever possess. Both Rob and his alter ego, Honey, are portrayed so well that they both come off as complete, separate characters bound by a common thread. It was refreshing to see that although Boone struggled with a lot of things once he and Honey arrived at his mother’s house, he didn’t let any of it get him down while he figured out exactly what he wanted. Although some of his family’s big reveal seemed a bit out of place, I respected the fact there was a little substance to Big Mama’s easy acceptance of all the crazy Boone and Honey brought into her home. Overall, this was an extremely cute and funny story that makes me want to know where they go from here.

While not a traditional threesome – these are both “one time only” deals – all three men do sexually interact together in two luscious, seriously hot scenes. I also liked how Hamish and Ethan struck up a kind of friendship. Ethan might be Paul’s ex, but they’re friendly and still work together occasionally, so seeing Hamish be accepting of this and get to know Ethan a bit was something I really enjoyed reading. All too often the “jealous of the ex” thing tends to overshadow any chance of common ground or friendship and it was refreshing for me to see Hamish act like a secure, grown man. I also felt this might easily lead into a following story, perhaps revolving around Ethan and I’d really enjoy reading that. I was a little disappointed that the ending seemed sudden – while there wasn’t exactly a cliffhanger I feel fairly certain the story is far from over. Readers who like every loose end tied up might find that frustrating – but it’s an excellent way to ensure people continue to look for the next book!

I really liked how about half way through the story the perspective swapped from Paul to Hamish. This helped me get into both of the men’s heads better and I liked the feeling of understanding both men quite closely. Readers should be aware while written in a fun, light and slightly humorous manner there is a fair bit of kink to the sex between Paul, Hamish and Ethan. There is a fairly serious Puppy Play scene – which I personally found tastefully written and pretty darn hot to read – but might not be a kink all readers will enjoy indulging in. Personally I felt the sex was dealt with really well and readers who are curious about Puppy Play or just kink in general might want to give this short story a try just to see what it’s like.

A fun, sexy story that should had me reaching for a lovely cool drink. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for other kinky stories by these authors.

Despite Cannon not really being out at work, he loves to fuck and has a very healthy sexual life. Readers should be aware that – at least initially – Cannon and Lucky are not monogamous. Cannon has a few no-strings hook ups. I adored how regardless of that, Cannon reluctantly admits to himself that he knows his attraction to Lucky goes more deeply than just getting laid in a mind-blowing manner. And Lucky might have wanted more from Cannon immediately, but his patience really appealed to me. Instead of trying to corner Cannon or manipulate him into a deeper connection, he was willing to tempt his lover instead. This really appealed to me and made for an excellent story. I was satisfied with the Happy For Now ending and a part of me hopes there might even be a sequel or more stories to come with these two interesting and complicated characters.

Similarly, the plot of the book was captivating and well-woven to my mind. I loved the intricacy – the double-plays and sneakiness of how nothing is ever as easy as it seems when it comes to police work. I really commend the author on an amazing job of balancing the intrigue and suspense of Cannon’s work with his anticipation and slow fall from lust into love with his romantic life. These two aspects of the book blend really well and made it a pleasure for me to read.

I found this to be a well-woven, interesting and complicated story with some really steamy sex. I loved both Cannon and Lucky’s characters and would eagerly read more of them both. Recommended.

The two begin to be connected even more as they indulge themselves. Sebastian learns that trusting and loving his Alpha is the right thing to do. Sokel goes above and beyond to help the man that he loves.

This new part of their adventure moves at a good pace and had me more than intrigued and cheering for the love that is between them. Readers are treated to a wonderful story that centers around Sebastian’s Daddy kink which does involve male breast feeding but gives you so much more. You never doubt the love and devotion from this couple and I am glad to see the bond and love grow deeper as the men explore.

Wow, what an intense story. Everything from the torture chamber to the big chase later on made it impossible for me to stop reading. The fast pacing worked well how energetically the plot was written. I simply had to know what would happen next and if Emma-Rose would get away from her captors. Ms. Bashe did some interesting things with her flashbacks that made me smile. I barely knew anything about the two main characters in the beginning, and she didn’t reveal very much about them until several scenes had flown by. It was fascinating to get to know them so well before learning anything about their previous lives. I also liked seeing how the author tied even the smallest and simplest memories to what was currently going on in the characters’ lives. This isn’t something I’ve seen done very often in this genre.

Initially I wasn’t thrilled by either Darian or Tony. Both came across as a tad too tentative and I thought they’d be more dominant. Now, that said, I loved the book. I really did. I got emotionally involved with them and needed to see what would happen. Kudos to TC Blue for doing that.

The sex was hot and the tension thick. I’m glad I read this book and can’t wait to get back to Darian and Tony’s world. I would really love to see what’s in the future for these two.
