The romance is sweet and it’s rather old fashioned and the couple faces innumerable odds to their HEA. The love scenes are sensual, but are hidden behind innuendo and masked enough to offend only the modest of readers, but even hard core romance lovers like myself will be able to visualize what’s behind closed doors to our satisfaction.

This will entertain you if you like a science fiction romance, a romance filled with angst, a romance who’s hero and heroine have an obstacle course of a courtship and a romance with many good characters.

The world Helen Scott Taylor created is rich and fascinating. It’s a world of Garbage Kings, the Shining Brotherhood, Foul Jinns, and clockwork creatures animated by apple spirits. I was drawn in almost immediately. Melba and Turk are engaging characters and Turk’s conflict is compelling.

My only real complaint? The prologue is a bit of a spoiler. It makes the story too predictable and isn’t necessary. I’d recommend reading it at the end or not at all.

Despite that, A Clockwork Fairytale is a sweet, fast, fun read perfect for the YA market. I’d give this book to my twelve-year-old daughter without hesitation, knowing she’d love it.

Along with the dragon egg, Nahma brought home a blue seed pod and planted it. When government officials come around to see the dragon and learn from him, Gina helps Nahma hide the seed pod.

The author uses the grandfather’s video skills and comic drawings to introduce the dragon to the world and keep the officials from confiscating the dragon. I thought that was pretty inventive and added to the story.

Gina has fallen in love with the dragon, Turk. But there is no way a blue dragon and a human can mate. Or is there?

If you want to know what Gina decides to do and how it turns out, grab yourself a copy of novella and read it. It’s light fun read for young ones and I enjoyed it, too.

I like Kay, have liked her since the beginning of this series. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about her finding love again, but thankfully our hero, Flynn Dowd, was just the perfect guy for her to move on with.

Flynn is funny, handsome and laid back. He rolls with the punches, though that doesn’t mean he’s a wimp. Far from it. To be competitive, new treatments will need to be get free levitra busted. The Pat I knew from the other books wouldn’t have been so over-the-top angry and unkind and that was a bit frustrating. Also, as in the previous books, the mystery is secondary to the romance and in this case was far too easily resolved.

Still the chemistry between Flynn and Kay was what truly mattered here. Watching them go from smoking hot lust, to affection and love despite the obstacles in their path was truly heartwarming. And the writing team of K. M. Daughters has such skill with their words that I couldn’t stop reading, even if I’d wanted to. Their characters, their emotional hooks, and in depth, clear description kept me glued to the pages.

True, this wasn’t the strongest book in the series, but that’s a bit like saying milk chocolate isn’t my favorite candy. It isn’t, but I still thoroughly enjoy it when I indulge. K. M. Daughters remains one of my favorite authors and I look forward to their next release.

It’s that balance of independent woman with a white knight tendency and a strong moral and ethical back bone, and the little girl dreaming of princesses, magic and the power of love hidden inside that made her a delightful heroine. She confounds the hero but delights his sidekick. She annoys the villainess yet challenges her too. Nora also has to deal with her mother and an ex-husband. Add to that the responsibility she takes on when she not only wakes up the sleeping beauty but decides that the men in the story are so daft, only another woman could successfully help the poor girl. Nora had no idea what she was getting herself into.

Blackstone is the hero. He’s not a very hands-on type in this story nor is he a major player. He’s supposed to be but his role for the most part is pretty passive. He is on stage to create some flash and fire and to bewilder and confuse Nora with thoughts of interest and attraction but he is not a mover and shaker of the plot. He sets the story in motion initially but then steps back to let Nora have the spotlight. When he does show a reaction to the heroine, it’s not very dramatic or pointed. It’s more a mystery to me and to the heroine. Blackstone is confused a lot during the story because the man has to face a huge reality – he’s a man of the 21st Century with magic steeped in the past and who has a frozen ideal about Emma, his sleeping beauty, and her place in his life. How he faces his actual wants and needs and what he does to change things was interesting. The hero can be romantic and he enjoys the grand gestures of romance but he has a lot of growing to do when it comes to courting the woman destined to be his.

I actually liked Sancho, Blackstone’s buddy and partner in crime. Being mysterious worked well for his character and I liked his twisted sense of humor. I never got the impression that people were truly fearful of her — just annoyed, bothered and accustomed to her petulant ways. Sure, she is a force to be reckoned with but for all her machinations and dastardly actions, her character seemed traditional and anti-climactic.

There were other secondary characters, that being Nora’s mom, and the surprise helper for Emma, the catalyst for this tale. The other character I won’t disclose is a cute touch and made Nora’s mother more interesting. I certainly liked the affect it had on the heroine. The Fates put on a brief appearance and once they got to the business at hand, they were alright. The initial scene where everyone first came upon them was unnecessary to the story and it could have been omitted.

The wrap up of the book was pure romantic fairy tale and it embraced the elements that make those stories timeless. There was the amazing revelation about the heroine, the hero’s realization of what true love really is and who has captured his heart, the evil lady vanquished for now, and even one of the cats gets its own kind of purrfect ending. The happily ever after between Nora and Blackstone is as sweet as a vanilla cream puff and just as satisfying.

Utterly Charming is a delightful and endearing tale. For readers who look for stories to read as they cuddle amongst pillows in comfort, and want to enjoy an uncomplicated romance that is entertaining and cute, they will find that and more with Utterly Charming. I credit Ms. Grayson for surprising me with this fresh and fun interpretation of one of my favorite fairy tales.

Eliza finds herself in a real unfortunate situation. The man she’s engaged to is abusive and has been stealing her blind. The worst part is that her signature is on all of it. She trusted him once but not anymore.

Roan is the Goblin King who lusts for Eliza and wants her as his queen. But he can’t ask a contemporary woman to leave her world behind and join him in his world. He has hope it will remove the curse on him and he can once more be a Celtic man instead of a goblin.

It was fun to watch the author make her character, Eliza, take back her life. Now, imagine what happens when she sees that world. So much is at stake, more than normal. It’s entertaining to read about her futuristic sensibilities set against his Victorian gentlemanly qualities. This creates a great chemistry between the characters and strange situations. She has depth, and he’s impressed with this. Simon is a different kind of hero. He doesn’t want the enemy dead and hopes for the villain’s redemption. Sometimes though, I wondered how he was able to understand Joan’s futuristic vocabulary so easily.

No Proper Lady is a great read with caring, worthy characters. The mix of cultures (past and present) makes for a wonderful story.

When I read the blurb for Dragons at Dawn, I was immediately intrigued. I have read Ms. Sookoo’s book Vegetarian at Midnight, so I have encountered Mona and Braeden before. I was surprised that Braeden would be filling the role of hero in this book since my impressions of him from the previous book were less than favorable. Still, I was more than a little curious about what sort of trouble Mona and Braeden would find themselves in, so I eagerly started reading. Note: though it is helpful to have read Vegetarian at Midnight, Dragons at Dawn can be read on its own.

Mona wanted nothing to do with Braeden. However, she found herself bound to him by a dragon ring that she accidentally put on. At first, Braeden’s only interest in Mona was monetary. Her family has offered a substantial reward for her return, and so he and Mona found themselves tramping through the wilderness of Moussai. On their journey, Mona and Braeden bickered constantly. In the beginning, I found this amusing. Personality clashes in a hero and heroine can make for some interesting chemistry. However, Mona and Braeden fought all the time about absolutely everything. It was a little hard to take after a while. Every time I thought Mona and Braeden would reach some sort of truce, they’d end up fighting again. This made it hard to get into the book at time, and even harder to hope for a happy ending. Despite this issue, I still wanted to know how Mona and Braeden’s story would end.

Mona showed impressive character growth as the story progressed. When I first starting reading, she was a lost soul with nowhere to call home. She typically ran from her problems or let other people solve them for her. By the end of the story, she had matured considerably. When dark forces threaten to take over Moussai, she digs deep and finds strength she never knew she had. I was glad that I’d been able to watch her blossom into a strong, independent woman.

I had a very hard time warming up to Braeden. He came off as selfish, arrogant, and even mean. Yet, every now and then, Ms. Sookoo gave me glances of Braeden’s soul. Though Braeden wrapped himself in a tough exterior, deep down, he really did have a good heart and was more insecure than he ever let on. I was so relieved when Braeden’s shell started to crack. Though Braeden kept insisting that he wasn’t a hero, I had the feeling he just might surprise everyone, even himself.

I enjoyed reading Dragons at Dawn. Although Mona and Braden travel a rocky road, their happy ending made it all worthwhile. Anyone looking for a paranormal romance with a feisty couple should give Dragons at Dawn a try.

Monogamy Twist has at its core, a wonderful romance that grows from a practical base. The hero treats it like a business deal and the heroine treats it like an adventure and a challenge. What they both don’t expect is that their personalities mesh, her sense of humor and his inner torment balance each other out. They both heal, they both find love and they both are stunned that a dead woman could have such a profound impact on their lives. The charm of the story is their journey and they go from perfect strangers in lust to friends and partners in love.

Rhia is the heroine and the owner of Thor, the dog. She’s spunky, intrepid and I enjoyed her ability to rise to a challenge and not get bogged down with emotional angst and typical female hissy fits when it comes to jealousy and backstabbing ex-girlfriends. She’s pragmatic at best and equally lusty for her neighbor.

The story is strong and the romance is a delight. The issues that knock down the rating for this book are varied. There is head hopping, strange word/phrase use, a few five dollar words like, ‘salubrious’, a hero who wails his complaint, emotional bouncing not in keeping with the character’s voice or scene, over the top embellishment – case in point, how Luke’s father died – and a lot of narrative where it came across not as a character’s point of view but the author filling me in on the details. The revelation about Luke’s mother made me laugh; the use of Danielle had me rolling my eyes, and after awhile the author forgot all about Thor. I didn’t. Amazingly enough, despite all of the above listed, the author created likeable characters in Luke and Rhia which kept me invested to finding out how they would eventually have their happily ever after. And even though there were some odd mixtures of phrases, their dialogue was often funny and entertaining.

Monogamy Twistis a cute story. It’s lighthearted, enjoyable and Luke and Rhia made a terrific couple. I’m glad I got a chance to read this book because it was a fun way to pass the time.

It’s certainly not their enemies’ fantasy.

The short stories are written well, grab your attention and keep you reading. You find yourself turning pages so you can see what kind of mess Alicia and James get into next. Portions of this story had me chuckling. If you enjoy good light stories, this book is for you. I’d like to invite this couple (and their cats) over for a visit (though I’d prefer if they left the goat home.)
