Truthfully, the story is pretty predictable, but what makes it worth reading are the secondary characters. This author’s true skill lies not so much in plotting, but in creating a fictional world that feels real and is populated with interesting, fun characters. She has the whole small town nosiness down pat, and every character, from the most prominent to the least, is fully fleshed out and unique.

I really did enjoy the story, and happily read it from beginning to end in one sitting. Though I might have wanted to give James a good shake, I really liked him and could understand why Beth fell for him from the start. This story rates high on sheer entertainment. It’s sweet, fun and real.

With a great resolution to the conflict and a fun, believable ending, this story made me grin from start to finish. One good read.

I would have enjoyed The Dragon King much more if I hadn’t been waiting for the dragons to appear.

Still, the worlds of The Dragon King were well crafted although I did feel a bit out of my depth at the beginning as the people and places were confusing. The author showed much more ingenuity when revealing the human way of life and social interaction. The Dragon King is a pleasant book with adventure, intrigue and romance. The planets appear medieval but have light technology based on zeel which is only found on Pelicosia. A good read with a well thought out plot.

The arrival of Daphne’s father brings on the seemingly insurmountable conflict. Deception is a big obstacle to overcome. How Christine Merrill works through the emotional upheaval, fears, and tears makes page-turning reading. When she finally gets Timothy and Daphne back together with their true personalities in place, the house in Wales, so long full of negativity and fear, bubbles with joy of lovers reunited and happy children secure in the knowledge that they are LOVED.

She thinks he doesn’t want to marry her and is being forced to. However, he is constantly warm toward her and wants to kiss her. Are those the actions of a man who feels trapped?

Despite this, the book is delightful. The ending is charming and unforgettable. Amelia Grey can write a great tale. Regency fans should check this one out.

Linda Engman brings us this novel which could be from the local TV station in the middle of the afternoon tuned into any of the soap operas out there complete with larger than life GQ characters and hot sexy steamy love scenes; the one thing different is you’ll like these characters even through all the mistakes they seem destined to make and repeat.

You’ll find yourself pulled into the drama and it doesn’t let you go until the end. Her characters are outlandish and yet could easily be the guy or gal next door and she lets us know each one intimately. Her hero Cooper and heroine Heather define a relationship-impaired couple and it’s we the readers who get the fun of seeing them tossed about the tornado known as falling in love. The love scenes are hot, steamy and you’ll definitely need to turn down the temp to survive it. At times during these scenes I felt the narrative a bit forced and it lost its flow just a bit. Other than that it was great and this tiny problem did not lesson my enjoyment of the read.

Do you like larger than life characters, cold winter scenes, hot love scenes and love that will warm your heart, well then look no further and give “Falling for You” a try. You’ll be glad you did.

Where do dreams begin? Where do tragic losses and nightmares end? Both Catherine and Luke have dealt with their fair share of loss. Catherine needs to begin again, hence starting out at Lost Angels. And Luke’s reception is anything but warm and kind.

In this emotionally gripping and gritty novel, Ms. Conn creates a tale that keeps the pages turning. The conflict is high and the suspense plays second to the romance between Catherine and Luke. The characters are memorable and distinct, and interesting to read about. This is a story about a second chance, starting over, and learning to let go of the past. As Luke spend more time with Catherine and has deeper feelings for her, the two still clash many times throughout the story, but they are always pulled back to each other. That does get a little tiresome, but it wasn’t too over the top.

If you enjoy a contemporary suspense novel, then Where Dreams Begin is a book you should look into. It’s emotional, thrilling, and has characters that the reader will enjoy.

At 1 a.m. the other night, after starting Playing with Fire, I found myself walking towards the bus stop to go home when Drew and Heather popped unexpectedly into my mind.

Their story is not anything new or innovative; it’s the old tale of the supposed whore falling for the rich and reputable man, but that’s all right because Playing with Fire has such a sweet tinge to it and the author, Kimberly Nee, is so good at generating expectancy that I couldn’t help myself from reading on eagerly. Nonetheless, the dialogue sometimes was a bit too simplistic, almost giving the impression that that it was done simply for the purpose of filling pages. Much the same happens with certain parts in which the author goes on and on about how beautiful Drew’s chest is or how happy Heather is and how perfect everything is.

Finally, another fault I found was that the evil character just wasn’t up the task. I got the feeling that he was just thrown into the story to ruin the perfect state in which they got immersed in. A little more background on him and his evil schemes would have been nice.

However, I became extremely fond of the characters: Drew’s strong temper, his good looks, his sweetness, his winks… Heather’s spirit, her frustrations, her romantic nature, all of it makes up for the other flaws in the story. Special mention deserves the author’s descriptions which are all well written.

Playing with Fire has a sweet fairytale quality to it that makes it a worthwhile read any time and will catch you off guard fantasizing about it.
