A chieftain’s daughter destined for an arranged marriage, Aithne is resigned to her role as a pawn in the clan’s alliance negotiations. Only her growing love for warrior Aodhan makes her dream of something better.

On the day of her betrothal, she’s attacked by a different clan leader’s son. When she realizes her captor plans to make war, she knows she must escape to warn her father. And more than ever, she longs to find a way into the arms of her only love.

Until the moment the chieftain announces Aithne’s betrothal, Aodhan always thought he could let her go. He doesn’t think it can get worse until he finds blood and broken pottery in the forest.

Now that he’s lost her, he knows he can’t live without her…

Between Duty and Desire is an enjoyable read where the characters actually feel real. Though the story is short, the connection between Aodhan and Aithne was felt. It’s an awesome love story that really touched me as a reader. Under the circumstances their relationship wasn’t possible since Aithne was promised to a chieftain, but how they longed for each other from a distance was so romantic. Their love story is mesmerizing. The author did an incredible job in portraying their relationship in more than words. It actually felt like a love affair that could have actually happened.

The characters were strong and likable. Lairgnen, Aithne’s father was trusted to handle his duty to protect the clan. Then you have Aodhan, whose desire for Aithne lead him to take a stand against clan tradition. The men were strong and the daughters were ones to admire for their bravery to and commitment to their clan.

I enjoyed the storyline and the scenario is the right setting for this novella. The setting and time of the story was right in that the story flowed and gave across a satisfying read. The writing style was a pleasure to read, including the description of the actions and the scenery were enough to place me right there in the story.

Awesome read! Truly one I would recommend.

Grief over the death of a beloved cousin deepens to shock when Kristen Delmont is given custody of her cousin’s four-week-old son, Matty. When the birth certificate reveals Matty’s father is none other than her sexy next-door neighbor, she is torn. Should she hand over the infant to his father and walk away, or should she honor her cousin’s wishes and raise the baby as her own?

The more he behaves as a playboy, the more Kevin Grady wants a family of his own. The beautiful realtor next door and her “inherited” baby seem like the perfect opportunity. The startling discovery that her baby is his couples disbelief with anger, and he storms off with his son.

Two people, one dream. Will Matty be the glue that keeps them together, or will a heart be shattered forever?

Kristen Delmont is a happily single realty agent who happens to live next door to handsome pediatric doctor Kevin Grady. Their neighborly relationship was going quite nicely until Kristen gets a call to met her deceased cousin’s attorney. When Kristen returns home a guardian of an infant son will this put a halt to the neighborly relationship that was just starting to ignite?  Will little Matthew Parker be the fuel to speed up the sparks between Kristen and Kevin or will he fizzle the small flame ?

This is a well written story that has an amusing plot. I enjoyed the characters. Kevin is a sweetheart. Kristen was nervous and weary about caring for a child, but Kevin was a comfort during this stage of Kristen’s life.

For the Love of Matty is a quick one setting read that I found to be heartwarming and likable. The scene between Kristen and Kevin is set and the vibe is one that I enjoyed reading about. It gave me a happy feeling to see two available single people able to acknowledge their attraction for each other, and not include the physical parts so early on in the relationship. It is nice to read about romance and thoughtful men that like to show women affection. In addition, they both seem to have their life together and should be able to find true love. I like the little twist that the author included in the plot; I didn’t see that coming. It was a joy to see the relationship between Kevin and Kristen grow. I like how both were willing to step up to care for Matty, both willing to include him in their lives.

This is an adorable story that is sure to charm any reader’s heart.

Eva, a minor goddess of the Venus variety, descended from a distinguished line of matchmakers, operates a business called Someday My Prints Will Come, a virtual lost-and-found of mismatched prints for photo processors around the country. She uses the leftover space on the database to accomplish her primary mission as a modern-day matchmaker. While Eva successfully helps others find their soulmates, she has never been in love.

No matter how hard she tries, she can’t find the perfect woman for a particularly picky client—Noah Prince, the emissary for rich and powerful CEO Adam Prinsky of Prinsky Electronics. Noah holds the key to Eva’s past, and he’s hoping to win her heart before he has to break it. This paranormal/fantasy tells the tale of how the matchmaker, who also hopes that one day her prince will come, finds a match.

Eva never doubted her abilities as a matchmaker until she met Noah.

Eva is a very talented matchmaker. She brings couples looking for love together with ease. Unfortunately, Eva has been unable to find love for herself. I was very surprised at how little Eva knew about men and love in general. Her naivety is confusing and yet also endearing. Noah opens Eva’s eyes to love and seduction in a very personal way. While he is very persistent, he is also very gentle and patient.

Eva’s past is a mystery for the majority of the story. The first chapter is the only glimpse into her history until the very end of the book. Most of the story focuses on how Eva matches couples. It was fun watching her pair up different couples, but I kept wishing the focus would return to Eva and Noah’s budding relationship. They had great chemistry and some very charged encounters, but I was left wanting to know more. Noah clearly knew who Eva was and had some sort of connection to her past. I was hoping that my curiosity for knowledge would be satisfied as the story unfolded. Unfortunately, all the information about Eva’s past is revealed at the very end of the story all at once. While the information did clear up most of my questions, I felt that the story ended very abruptly. Eva learned so much about her past, her magic, and Noah in the space of a few moments, but she wasn’t given any time to absorb it. If I were in her situation, I would have needed some time to process it all. Instead, everything just ended. While Eva’s story has a happy ending, I felt that there was more to tell.

Overall, I liked Someday My Prints Will Come. It is a fun, fast paced story sure to delight fans of light hearted romance.

Writing murder mysteries is all in a day’s work until an obsessed fan brings Phoebe’s stories to life.

Mystery writer, Phoebe Anderson, owes her success to killing her first husband on paper seventeen years earlier. Now, someone has actually done it. When she decides to take a few days away on the ranch of her best friend’s brother-in-law, she doesn’t expect romance to find her…or murder to follow her.

Mason Meadowlark is happy with his wild cowboy ways, avoiding love since the death of his baby and the end of his marriage twenty years ago. When Phoebe shows up, he fights to control his emotions, but soon wonders if she just might be worth the risk of opening his heart again.

With an obsessed fan close on her heels, Phoebe is thrown into her own murder mystery…and the next target on his list is Mason.

Phoebe had her life all plotted out until a night with Mason changed everything.

Phoebe had a completely disastrous marriage years ago. Since then, romantic commitments aren’t high on her list of priorities. Instead, she prefers to keep her relationships short and fun. However, a one night stand with Mason at her best friend’s wedding leaves an impression on her that she just can’t shake. Even though Phoebe and Mason have explosive chemistry, I have to admit I found it a little strange for Phoebe to ask to stay at Mason’s ranch for a while. While he is the brother of her best friend’s husband, they really don’t know much about each other. Furthermore, Phoebe and Mason spend most of their time tangled up in bed. Despite this issue, I really enjoyed their flirtatious banter as I hoped they would find a way to a deeper connection.

While this story is a romantic suspense, most of the drama comes from Phoebe and Mason trying to figure out their feelings for each other and what they wanted for their future. They both have been badly hurt in the past and have let their pain rule their lives ever since. While Phoebe and Mason’s situations are very different, they have chosen to cope in very similar ways. When they finally start to open up to each other and have more meaningful conversation, I could tell they were going to be very good for each other.

I must admit that I found it very easy to figure out who was behind the murders. After that, it was just a matter of waiting for the killer to make a move that would expose his identity to Phoebe. The killer is extremely deluded, disturbed, and very frightening. The sections of the story written from his point of view definitely gave me the shivers.

Southwest of Love and Murder is a very enjoyable book. Although it is book two in a series, it can definitely stand on its own. I recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic suspense with a sexy hero and a sassy heroine.

When Nick reluctantly accepts the temporary transfer to the Scenic View Fire Department he doesn’t plan on playing Santa Claus for the kiddie Christmas party. Sticking around town for the special assignment will give him a chance to get to know lonely, local sweetheart Lily and find out why she wants nothing to do with him.

Lily is a lifelong fixture in Scenic View, sick of living hand-to-mouth in a place where everyone’s nose is in her personal business. Just when she’s ready to move out of town, she meets the gorgeous newcomer, and it’s lust at first sight. The only thing is she doesn’t date firemen, which is too bad, because charming Nick seems like a real keeper. With a little Christmas magic and help from the Santa suit, will Nick find a way into Lily’s heart and change her mind?

This novel was a lovely and quick read that I enjoyed very much. Ms Druzy created such likeable characters and a story filled with sweep-you-off-your-feet romance.

Sleeping With Santa is a fantastic read, that I have recommended to many of my friends. The story takes place in a small town was almost everyone knows everyone’s business. The mains characters, Lily and Nick both have a hot-and-cold sort of romance going on when she running into him in town one day. Both Lily and Nick have a very strong emotional connection from then on out.

I absolutely love Christmas and when I heard of Sleeping With Santa I was very excited to read more. The holiday feel to this novel kept very much in the Christmas sprit throughout the story. The back-and-forth between the two main characters, Lily and Nick, had me not wanting to put this book down as I have a soft spot of romance story like that.

I was very pleased to see that both Nick and Lily’s point-of-views were included and I could understand both of main characters actions as the story unfolded. This style of writing has to be one of my favourites.

Overall, Sleeping With Santa was a brilliant holiday romance novel perfect for anytime of year. I would recommend this entertaining and well-written story to those who like light hearted novels with a side of steaming romantic scenes. I very much look forward to seeing what Ms Druzy comes up with in the future.

The Deveraux line is famous…for a family curse. The rich must marry the poor or lose their prosperity. Peter Baring is the last of the Deveraux and sinking slowly into poverty. But will marriage to his icy business partner save him?

Beatrice Nottham dreams of leaving Earth for a fresh start. But only married couples are allowed to move off-world. Marrying a man she’s unsure she loves will solve that problem…but at what cost?

Beatrice didn’t want to leave earth until she’d traced down her family lines. After all, shouldn’t she know more about the family curse?

The author sets this story in contemporary times but includes a centuries old curse that is still coming true all these years later. I like the mix of cultures, the main characters, and the way they work on curing the curse. A bit more length to this story would have fleshed it out better. As it is, you get a bare bones story that reads fast and entertains well.

Beatrice is from America and when she travels to England to finish her genealogy work, her boyfriend is mad at her. She’s amazed to find out she doesn’t care. She’s marrying him to get off world but she’s not sure she loves him. She travels to the priest she talked to through emails and visits the church hoping for more information. He has no more to show her but sends her to the old graveyard that holds her ancestors. When she’s there, she meets Peter, Lord of the Manor. He asks who she’s searching for and offers to let her search some artifacts and bibles he has in the house. She also meets Francie, Peter’s fiancé. When she looks down her snooty nose at Beatrice, she knows where she stands in her eyes.

This is a soft, easy romance where the characters start out by sharing dreams, their own lives details and develop a friendship right off the bat. It’s not far down the road before they both realize they are setting themselves up for failure in their future marriages. How much are you willing to give up for future dreams? How much would you give up for real love? Just what would you do?

Ms. Kneale answers these questions and more in an interesting read with family history and English sunsets and sunrises to keep the pages turning.

Detective Reid Sanders doesn’t believe in the supernatural, but when he’s faced with a crime scene that defies the laws of nature, he has no other choice but to start believing. And solving a magical murder involves working with a witch.

Liberty Sawyer embodies the look of your classic evil witch, so, it’s no surprise when she uncovers the murderer is a witch that she becomes Reid’s number one suspect. If she can’t convince him otherwise, more people could lose their lives to dark magic, including her.

Supernatural crimes can’t always be solved by logic and reason alone.

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of someone calling your name. As soon as I read this part of the opening scene, I couldn’t wait to figure out what happened next. It was such an eerie way to introduce the characters who were involved in it. I appreciated being thrown into the middle of the action like this with little indication of what was going on or who I should trust. This technique worked well with the overall tone of this story.

The plot often told the audience what was happening instead of showing it. These tendencies were especially noticeable in the final scene. It had all of the elements of a strong ending. Had there been more detailed descriptions of what was going on and more time spent showing how those events affected the characters, I could have easily given Witch of Death a much higher rating.

With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by what happened in the final scene. The twist wasn’t something I’d figured out ahead of time, so stumbling across it was a treat. It was especially interesting to read this section because this wasn’t the first tale I’ve read from Ms. Fey. I’ve been enjoying her career so far, though, and am quite curious to see how she writes the endings in her future books!

I’d recommend Witch of Death to anyone who likes seeing how the urban fantasy and mystery genres can be woven together.

Strange things are happening in King’s Harbour. Midwife Maggie Wilson vows to find the person who almost murdered her sister. When her sister’s behavior ignites old superstitions, the townspeople threaten to send her to an asylum. Maggie turns to handsome Ian for help in a town where everybody is against her.

Apothecary Ian Pierce wants nothing more than to feel whole, as he does when he is near the beautiful midwife, singing to her soul with his music. Only then can he forget the horrors from his past when false accusations sent him to Bedlam.

When they unearth the deeds of a sinister killer, Ian’s most daunting battle will be to safeguard his sanity… and win Maggie’s heart.

So many lives depend on Maggie.

Maggie is a woman under immense stress. The life of a midwife is hard and the hours are long. Fortunately, Maggie is a hard worker and very good at what she does. It is very easy to admire Maggie. She is strong, determined, and fiercely loyal to her family. She has a bit of a temper, and the surest way to set her off is to threaten those she cares about. When her sister nearly dies, Maggie makes it her mission to find out who could have done such a thing. Unfortunately, Maggie’s sister might not be the only victim. Can Maggie solve the mystery before another woman dies?

Maggie has never desired romance, a husband, or children. Her father’s treatment of her mother led her to swear off men. However, Maggie never planned on meeting Ian. Maggie is instantly drawn to Ian. However, she doesn’t for one moment think that any man could see her as beautiful. Maggie has a very low opinion of herself and often refers to herself as a “workhorse.” Ian thinks Maggie is the most beautiful woman he’s ever met and endeavors to convince her of his sincerity. Maggie doesn’t make it easy for him. Their courtship is far from normal. Everything about it is odd, from the place they first meet to the circumstances that ultimately lead them to take the next step in their relationship. They are a very interesting couple with explosive chemistry. I enjoyed watching Ian open Maggie up to the possibility of life beyond her work. Maggie is so used to taking care of others that she practically melts when Ian takes care of her for a change.

I must also mention that I found Ian’s mental illness particularly interesting. It is a very rare thing to come across a hero with this sort of flaw. I truly felt sorry for him as I watched him struggle to control it. Especially since he is living in a time and place when very little is known about mental illness. His determination to lead a normal life is truly admirable.

The paranormal element of Mercy of the Moon is creepy and permeates every page of the story without being overwhelming. When I read the title of this mystery, I expected it to be about a certain kind of paranormal entity. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is about something entirely different. I found that very refreshing.

The villain of this tale is truly terrible and has no redeeming qualities. When the deeds and motives of the killer were revealed, I was horrified. However, I’m pleased to report that justice does prevail, but not before the father of one of his victims exacts some gruesome revenge.

I really enjoyed reading Mercy of the Moon. Maggie and Ian are well rounded characters, and the plot is intriguing and well paced. Looking for a unique paranormal? Check out Mercy of the Moon today.

Voted BoM by LASR Readers 2013 copy

When Edwina’s father invites ten titled lords to spend Christmas at his medieval estate so Edwina may choose one for a husband, she finds the idea romantic. She dreams of gazing into the eyes of one of her suitors and falling deeply in love. But it soon becomes apparent the lords in question are far more interested in gaining her father’s estate than Edwina’s hand.

Thorstan’s in attendance, but he hasn’t been invited, and he’s no lord. A former mercenary, he’s come disguised as a jester to get near Edwina, long adored from afar. Edwina quickly falls for his charm and quirky humor even though she fears her father will never approve of a commoner for her husband. But when Edwina is abducted, only Thorstan—a skilled swordsman—has hope of rescuing her in time for the promised Christmas wedding.

At first, it sounded like fun. Her father would invite ten lords from neighboring villages to visit and meet his daughter. She would pick one and then marry on Christmas Day. All these men wooing her and trying to win her heart would be fascinating. Surely she would grow to love one of them.

Ms. Strickland writes a fun story. She creates an environment of suitors that would make anyone barf. They are weak or strong, smart or dumb, some smell, some have impossible attitudes and the one that thinks he’s going to tell her what to do and how to act after marriage doesn’t have any idea he has just driven her away.

Only nine showed up. Not one of them is what Edwina wants to marry. Their only interest in her is her father’s property. Some even call her names when they think she can’t hear them. What she doesn’t know is how dangerous they are.

The touch that made me smile and touched my heart is that after meeting all those “wonderful” lords, she ends up falling in love with a jester! Now you and I both know her father isn’t going allow that marriage. He wants a good life for her, why can’t she love one of the lords?

There’s a sword fight, kidnapping and rescue all before the end of this book. The very last line of the book made me laugh out loud. I really enjoyed reading about subterfuge, the stolen kisses and the plot the two lovers make up. This story is one I’d read again because it was full of action, gave me laughs, and ended up happily. What more could you want?

Raven Hart, a succubus bounty hunter for Hell, is on a hunt. With her query in sight, she hits a brick wall, or rather the very hard chest of a giant sexy man. She might have lost the prize for now, but she’s a winner when the hottie wants to get physical.

Marcus Dionysius, a Nephilim working for Heaven, has one mission—to prevent Hell’s beauty from stealing souls meant for the higher plane. But he soon realizes he’s met his sexual match. She’s naughty enough to tempt his senses, but her innocence means he can’t walk away when she needs him most.

Working together to discover who’s snatching souls from Heaven, they realize the true danger is falling in love.

They say oil and water don’t mix. You can shake them up, force them to combine, but they’ll simply separate into their own states of being. One could say the same for Heaven and Hell, and for the most part, that’s true. But Raven and Marcus have broken the laws of attraction. By all rights, they are enemies, and yet, they just can’t seem to play by the rules. We can’t always control our heart or inner most desires. And for some strange reason, neither can resist the other.

A bounty hunter for Hell, Raven doesn’t mind a little rule breaking—she is supposed to be bad, after all. But for Marcus, the repercussions are far more dangerous. He’s been sent to eliminate Raven, and yet, he just can’t seem to bring himself to follow his directive. As far as his boss is concerned, she’s been ripping off Heaven of its rightful recruits—stealing souls. Despite the evidence stacked against her, Marcus senses there’s another player involved, one who has no problem letting Raven take the fall.

Raven has no idea what she’s gotten in to. As an incubus, she’s forced to do her master’s bidding, even if she doesn’t like it. Her boss is a succubus and he’s much stronger than she. He could eliminate her with ease. But it isn’t until she meets Marcus—her assigned assassin—and hears him out on what’s really going on, that she realizes her boss is using her as a scapegoat to do his dirty work. She’s good at her job, perhaps a little too good. She’s never questioned who she’s supposed to kill before. She doesn’t like her boss, but she stands no chance against him should she deny his demands. If she refuses, he’ll kill her. If she continues executing innocent people to pad Hells hallways, she’ll stay on Heaven’s hit list. Either way, things don’t look good.

Marcus isn’t one to question his boss either. When he’s sent to eliminate Raven, whom he’s told has been stealing souls meant for Heaven, he’s ready to find and take her out as ordered. But when he finally has Raven face to face, all he can focus on is the lure of her soft curves. The temptation of an incubus is difficult to deny. While he’s not like any mortal man, he has the same needs and desires. When he gets his hands on her, it’s not in a manner his boss intended. Suddenly, things get complicated. Marcus suspects Raven is being set up, but by who and why? If he hopes to save his little temptress, he’ll have to hold Heaven’s wrath at bay long enough to find the real villain and bring him or her to justice.

Hell’s Bounty by Kayden Claremont is one of those easy to read stories that pulls you along as the plot unfolds. For anyone wanting a steamy read, this book has plenty of sex. Both Raven and Marcus are masters of their trade, two bounty hunters equal in cunning and skill. While they should be natural enemies, the chemistry between them overcomes their differences. Both have had their fair share of partners in the past, but neither was prepared for the powerful emotions and feelings of completeness the other invoked deep within.

Marcus quickly develops a sense of protectiveness for Raven. He knows he can’t kill her, but he’ll have to protect her long enough to prove her innocence. That’s easier said than done when you have a kick-ass woman determined to take matters into her own hands, in more ways than one.

When you think of Heaven and Hell, you typically attribute good and bad to their names. Even though Marcus worked for Heaven, and Raven worked for Hell, both were simply doing a job. I got the feeling that Raven didn’t really enjoy her line of work—killing bad guys with meaningless sex—but she dealt with it. Marcus offers her something she’s never had before, something she’s never felt. I think what she wanted is what a lot of us are after and Marcus presented that possibility. Despite the odds against them, she’s willing to fight to have him, even if it means standing up to her boss.

I enjoyed Hell’s Bounty pretty much from beginning to end. I guess if I had a complaint, it would be the wrap up at the end. I think the buildup of catching the bad guy kind of fell short and ended too easily. I was surprised by one character in particular—didn’t see that coming—but it made sense. Overall, I consider it a book worth having read and would recommend it to others, particularly readers who love a strong heroine.

A sexy-as-hell bounty hunter and a tough-as-nails target; the two should be polar opposites and yet, when they come together, their joining is explosive. There’s plenty of steamy sex to keep your heart pumping, and enough excitement to make you eager to see what happens next. Ms. Claremont has penned a super-hot read that easily held my interest until the end. If you’re looking for a something to start your engines, be sure to pick up a copy of Hell’s Bounty, it will get you going for sure.
