Looking for inspiration, designer Genevieve Hoffman agrees to an apartment swap and heads to the south of France. But when the apartment owner’s brother returns from deployment, she finds herself with a man who inspires fantasies rather than fashion.

Etienne Gagnon barely made it out of Syria alive during his last special forces assignment. All he wants is a little R&R in the apartment he shares with his sister. But the woman making breakfast in his kitchen isn’t his sister. He might not understand a word coming out of her mouth but he has no problem reading body language and likes what she’s saying just fine.

Etienne has come home suddenly to his apartment in France only to discover his sister has swapped her living arrangements for a month. Instead, Genevieve is staying in his sister’s room, and neither of them are particularly happy about it. Can they each find love in the country most renown for it?

I found this to be a funny and lovely story. While Etienne is good at languages he’s not yet learned much English. And Genevieve – despite choosing to stay for a month in France has almost no French skills at all. So their initial interactions were funny and difficult to say the least! Initially I thought the fact Etienne and Genevieve struggled to communicate would frustrate me, but I found it actually made the story all the more sweet. The author did an amazing job of showing me how they interacted and learned to communicate together and keep it interesting and fresh at the same time. Of course there were small issues when they didn’t understand each other properly, or when someone else tried to interpret for them and there were miscommunications, but this just added to the story.

The sex was both steamy and sweet. I found the lack of verbal communication helped keep a sort of elemental understanding between Etienne and Genevieve. They had to show through actions, kisses, touches and simple words what they wanted and where their emotions and desires were at. Cutting out so much of the verbal sparring and posturing that happens so regularly really kept this story clean and simple. And I found I really thoroughly enjoyed it.

I found this story different and lovely. Sweet but still erotic and enticing, this was a very different kind of story and I really enjoyed it. Recommended.

Melinda James is finally out of Skyview Haven—an asylum where she was confined for years—and is living her life, free at last. However, things are not going as planned; harassed by unexplained paranormal experiences, she doesn’t feel safe in her own home. And when she turns to her best friend Trent for help and support, she is surprised to find her feelings for him have grown far beyond a simple friendship.

Trent Miller isn’t prepared to fight evil, but he will do whatever it takes to save Melinda from an evil entity that is seeking revenge for past events. Armed with knowledge gleaned from television shows, a team of paranormal investigators, and the prayers of family and friends, he is ready to face anything.

The question is, does he tell her about his feelings for her before or after he fights a battle with evil for Melinda’s very soul?

Love is Strong.

Nothing worth having is ever easy. This story shows that love can be strong and worth all of the bad we go through to find it.

Melinda has been out of the asylum, where she has been wrongfully admitted, for two years. She has her own house, a roommate and goes to university for her classes. However, her new life with Trent, who may or may not be the love of her life, comes with a couple of hiccups.

Trent and Melinda start experiencing events and accidents that are not only improbable but down right paranormal. They know that what they are experiencing is a paranormal event, they are being haunted or the house is haunted. When Melinda disappears, Trent knows that he has to get her back from where ever she is and he will do anything to bring her back alive.

Trent and Melinda are first shown as just friends. I just think it would have been nice to read about how they become friends and then how Trent fell in love with Melinda. This book did show their attraction towards each other and their concern or love for each other with a couple of almost kisses and a whole lot of heat between each other, perfect for readers who aren’t interested in being in the bedroom with the main characters.

The Other Side is a ghost story. The first half of the book was pure ghost story and slowly the story starts evolving and the other elements of the plot began to appear. Then it starts becoming more fantasy than ghost story. I think what surprised me was how much of fantasy elements I saw in this books because it is not what I expected.

My expectation was of a typical paranormal. The main characters are being haunted, threatened by unseen forces who want their death for some reason and they find a way to eventually save themselves. This book showed the other side to the haunting that I don’t normally get to experience in a book. I liked it. It was different. Readers who enjoy a good paranormal experience but want something new should give this one a try.

Renata Cabral needs to hide for the weekend. Her cousin’s Valentine’s Day wedding means she’ll face embarrassing questions from her large, extended family. Questions like “Why aren’t you married yet?” Since the breakup of her last relationship, she’s not ready to answer that question. She invents a work-related excuse and escapes to a friend’s lakeside cottage.

Noah Brownlee has been hiding for two years. But now he’s ready to come home and mend his broken relationship with his brother. When a friend offers the use of his lakeside cottage, Noah arrives in the middle of a blizzard with his English Mastiff, only to find the place is already occupied. With her big brown eyes and quirky sense of humor, Renata stirs feelings he thought long dead.

As the blizzard rages, the candy hearts predict love. Can Valentine’s Day work its magic between them?

Renata is taking refuge in her best friend’s cottage – using it as a much needed escape for a few days. Unfortunately, Noah had also been allowed use the cottage and Renata is loathe to give up her weekend just because some guy happened to be there as well. Can she chill out when they’re both snowed in together?

This is an interesting “snowbound” style book. I found both Renata and Noah’s characters to be layered and complex, which was a big help since the book really did center around them with very little supporting cast. I found the “two steps forward one step back” style of the story a little frustrating at times. While it was perfectly understandable both Noah and Renata were a little prickly – they both have pasts and in their own way were running from their lives and themselves – after the first few times of one of them cutting off or shutting down on the other it got a bit repetitive. It was clear they were both interested in each other, and while Noah was prickly and secretive and Renata had been burned in the past they seemed to run very hot/cold with each other and this sent plenty of mixed signals – to each other but also to me as a reader.

Readers who like a slower pace with plenty of give-and-take between their hero and heroine should find this to be a good read. I thought there was a good length to the “getting to know you” period between Noah and Renata and they each shared plenty of themselves and their history while the attraction grew steadily between them. The only real conflict was the sometimes prickly interactions between them when one or the other closed off a bit emotionally. The plot was very character-centric – more than the first half of the book revolved around them learning about each other while snowed into the cabin. There was also only the one sex scene, so readers wanting a bit more spice might find this slower pace and less physical style of romance a bit slow. I personally found it satisfying, but not overly descriptive so I feel it shouldn’t be too much for most sweeter styled romance readers.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. For the most part I liked both Renata and Noah’s characters and while I got a little frustrated with them both a time or two it was a real pleasure to read about them finding love together and filing the empty place in each other’s lives.

A corporate retreat provides laid-back Tadeo Xalvador with the opportunity he’s been waiting for—close quarters with co-worker Kit Emelin. She’s brushed him off in the past, but he’s banking on her brusque manner having less to do with the professional competition between divisions…and everything to do with avoiding the attraction sizzling between them.

Her type A personality drives Kit to view the forest retreat as another place to display her leadership skills. Nowhere in her plans does she allow for a board game of wanton words with the sexy wonder boy of sales. She clings to her rule against dating a colleague. But when coyotes drive them into an empty cabin, adrenaline and lust lead to unquenchable passion she can’t deny.

Kit and Tadeo are both on a company retreat. There’s plenty of chemistry between them Kit can’t deny – but she has a personal rule against dating someone from the same company. But Tadeo is determined to bring them together and won’t be dissuaded.

This is a fun, deliciously spicy story that I greatly enjoyed. Naughty Scrabble, plenty of double entendres and a hero determined to seduce his heroine – what more could a reader ask for? The chemistry between Kit and Tadeo is pretty intense from the start, and it was delightful to see them explore that. As this is quite a short story they jump into it fairly early on – and the sex is scorching hot. I liked how it wasn’t a casual thing, especially for Tadeo. Tadeo – to my mind at least – is the kind of character where it would have been very easy for the author to make him some sort of Lothario – a playboy style of character. But he’d thought seriously about Kit and how he wanted to seduce her and I really enjoyed the care of thought he’d put into it. It made me really love his character and helped me see that this wasn’t some random, casual fling for him.

I enjoyed the fast pace of the story and found many of the descriptions of the retreat’s location really lush and wonderful. I was a little disappointed that the only real conflict in the story was Kit’s own, personal worries – baggage from an ex-lover and worry about hooking up with a co-worker. These concerns while completely understandable made Kit feel less like a strong, modern woman to my mind, particularly as Tadeo had been nothing but sensual, appreciative and supportive.

Overall I really enjoyed this story – the sex between Tadeo and Kit was delicious and graphic, the fun team-building games and other retreat aspects of the story were fun and a good, lighthearted counterpart to the serious, spicy relationship between Tadeo and Kit. A short, quick read that is sure to leave you with a smile.

Volunteering at a horse rescue has helped heal schoolteacher Kelsey Hunter after her celebrity ex’s betrayal. Life in the rural California community suits her better than the bling of Hollywood. When she seeks help for a classroom project, she’s thrown into the sphere of a down-to-earth organic farmer and horseman who could really steal her heart…

Landry Mills, successful mega-spokesmodel for a famed Westernwear line, returns to his hometown to regroup and reconsider signing the next contract. Meeting Kelsey explodes feelings in him he wants to make real. But finding out a fancy director’s son recently crushed her spirit has him take things slow. What will Kelsey do when she finds out he’s a celebrity in his own right? He might not be able to bear it…

Kelsey had moved into the countryside for the man she thought she’d marry – only to have him break her heart and leave. Instead of moving again though, Kelsey decided to stay. She loved her work as a teacher, and particularly loved spending time at the Horse Rescue ranch. Then she stumbles upon Landry. While their attraction is immediate, Kelsey has been burned before and isn’t sure she wants to jump back into the fire. Can Landry convince her to pick him?

This is a fun and lighthearted story I really enjoyed. Warm and sweet it’s the perfect Valentine’s Day story. I loved the slow, emotional pace of the story. Kelsey has been hurt in the past, but she can’t resist Landry. And Landry is tired of the glitz and soulless glamour of the modeling business and being semi-famous and just wants to settle back home with a real, traditional girl. They’re made for each other, but neither is willing to jump head first into anything. So I found this really set the pace and tone for a sweet, soft, gentle romance and was not disappointed.

I also really enjoyed how there was such a country feel to the story. Set in farming country, with horses and plenty of healthy farm-style work this book really feels like one that can pass the test of time. It could have been set twenty years ago – and likely will still be pretty relevant and feel right in twenty years time. While I found the conflict side of the plot pretty predictable it didn’t hamper my enjoyment of the story too much. The fresh characters and slow, lazy progress of their romance helped me enjoy their sweet kisses and romantic ending.

A sweet story with lush characters and a happy, feel-good glow at the end. Recommended.

Summer Dawn Riley’s an extraordinary elemental witch whose troubled past haunts her. She’s created a calm life for herself teaching yoga and keeping people at a distance. Her life takes a one eighty degree turn when she enrolls in a women’s weapons class and meets ruggedly handsome Devlin Sawyer. Devlin, a former Navy Seal, has sworn off women after two long-term failed relationships, but there is no denying his attraction to Summer. She intrigues him like no other woman ever has. Despite her attempts to ignore him, Summer is drawn to Devlin. His magic signature is strong, but he’s no warlock. Will Valentine’s Day magic find them a future together?

They have a connection. Is it magic or just old fashion chemistry?

Summer is a yoga instructor who owns a local studio. Her past experiences led her to participate in a women’s self defense weapons class, where she meets the handsome former Navy Seal Devlin Sawyer.

Charm Me was smooth, with both of the characters getting to know each other more with an added family element that made this book a lot more homey for me. It showed how these two individuals, each with their own past and relationship issues, were able to get past all of it with the help from the other as they fall in love.

I have read a lot of paranormal and one thing that is different from other paranormal romances is that this one is a lot milder in the paranormal elements. For me that was a plus.

Another thing I counted as positive is that since this is a short story the author chose to keep the message simple. It has a single plot line rather than multiple interconnecting plots that might have made the story feel clumpy and confusing.

It was sweet and sexy with a lot of passionate sex. Perfect for readers who wants to read a paranormal romance but without being overwhelmed by the genre if it happens to be new to them.

When her domineering fiancé cheats on her, pastry chef Kate Sweet trades the city for her hometown of Barnesville and works as a waitress in her parents’ diner. Lonely and insecure, she tries to start over but instead runs into Michael Hart, the boyfriend who sent her away after he was paralyzed in a tractor accident. All her old feelings for him return in full, but Michael is just about to get married to someone else — her old rival for everything back in their school days.

Michael is drawn to Kate again but resents that she left him. He doesn’t remember how pain and painkillers changed his behavior and made him so sorry for himself he literally ordered her to go.

Now she must decide whose happiness is more important, his, now that he has a fiancée, or hers…with him. How can it be both?

Kate Sweet is back home after two heartaches. The first one made her run away from her hometown and the other made her return to it. The first was caused by her ex-boyfriend Michael Hart when he pushed her away after his accident. The second by her cheating ex-fiancé who wanted to change her into someone that she could never be.

Returning home is bittersweet. On one hand she’s far away from her manipulative ex- fiancé, on the other she knows she’ll meet Michael who broke her heart when all she wanted was to be by his side. And to make things worse, Michael is now engaged to the one woman Kate could never stand.

Always You is a story about second chances and big misunderstandings. It’s a story about letting go and giving another chance to love. Kate and Michael have been through a lot and they’ve both made mistakes. The story focuses on how these two make things right. The pace of the story is fast and everything turns out just the way it was supposed to. It was easy to like both Kate and Michael. They felt real. Their feelings towards each other felt genuine.

This is a short and satisfying read that I read in one sitting. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I recommend it to all who are looking for a quick read about second chances.

Allison McCall, supervisor in the Romance and Proposal Department of Cupid Corp., firmly believes rules are meant to be followed, yet her own love life is unfulfilling.

Preston Carlyle, Allison’s former boyfriend and one of her more creative agents, believes rules should be broken occasionally to give true love a chance. Only, he’s having a hard time convincing Allison and Cupid his techniques are working.

From the disastrous paperwork and the frequency of Allison’s visits to Cupid’s office on Preston’s behalf, she fears her position and his job are in jeopardy.
But when she finds out he’s requested a transfer to the Holiday Security Agency, Allison decides to prove she cares for him…even if it means breaking a few rules.

There are many times when you really should follow the rules in life, but falling in love might not be one of them.

Preston was a well-rounded and fascinating character. There were times when his stubborn antics made me shake my head, but even his biggest flaws were there for a reason. It was fun to see how he grew and changed as a result of the things that happened to him during the course of the plot. He stayed true to his original personality while also surprising me with how intelligently he responded to everything that challenged him.

The chemistry between Allison and Preston never felt quite right to me. I liked them both quite a bit as individuals, but their personalities clashed in so many different ways that it was hard to imagine them as a couple. She was straight-laced while he was impulsive, for example. There were times when I wondered why they were ever seriously interested in each other because of how deeply set into their ways they were. The fact that it didn’t work out between them the first time around only made me think about this even more.

This was one of the most original fantasy stories I’ve read recently. Ms. Miller spent a lot of time showing the audience exactly how the Romance and Proposal Department operated. I felt like I knew the entire department inside and out by the time she’d finished describing what it looked like, how its employees were expected to behave, and what happened when people broke the rules. It was nice to have such a clear understanding of it all, especially once Preston’s job was on the line because I knew exactly what he was risking.

I’d recommend www.Cupid to anyone who is in the mood for a creative Valentine’s Day tale.

A hacker is targeting Meredith Crismis’s struggling new dessert company. But when the tech firm she depends on sends hunky computer expert Vlad Wiznitsky to fix the problem, things begin improving for Meredith, both personally and professionally.

First, her relationship with Vlad heats up to the sizzling point, then Meredith’s given the chance to snag a wealthy customer who could put her company’s bottom line permanently into the black. It seems like a dream come true, until the persistent hacker turns her “Divine Desserts” website into an X-rated marketplace, the wealthy customer demands a discontinued decorative item or else no sale, and her relationship with Vlad begins to unravel under the pressure of her obsession with professional success.

For a woman who deals with creating intricate wedding cakes and luscious muffins, life has suddenly become the ultimate recipe for disaster.

Meredith had worked hard to open her own little shop – Divine Desserts. She loves everything about baking and adores her business – but has serious computer-related problems. After calling her regular tech support they send someone out to help her. But instead of her usual middle-aged technician Vladimir appears on her doorstep. Vlad’s determined to help her – Meredith’s computer has been hacked three times recently and she’s worried it might lose her business. Can they work together to solve this puzzle?

I really enjoyed the slower pace of romance between Vlad and Meredith. While the chemistry and attraction is instant, neither jump straight into the hot stuff. That slow, gradual progression was wonderful to read and made the end-point all the more sweet to my mind. While sex between Vlad and Meredith was alluded to, nothing was shown in detail. There were some lovely kisses and plenty of chemistry, but the bedroom door remained firmly closed. Readers who enjoy a sweeter style of romance should find this quite appealing, but there was still enough chemistry to my mind that the story shouldn’t be overlooked by readers who enjoy a bit more spice in their books.

There were plenty of interesting secondary characters that I felt really supported the story and made it interesting. My only small disappointment was that the conflict felt a little put-on. In most respects Meredith came across as a sensible, level-headed woman. Yet when she got all twisted up over a really big order it felt a little like she lost some of that intelligence. I can totally understand getting caught up in something so important, and obsessing over it, but it felt a little out of character – almost as if the author had blown it slightly out of proportion to instigate the argument between Vlad and Meredith. The argument had a good purpose, and was well-written, but the basis for it seemed a bit strange to me. I even ended up back-tracking and rereading much of the lead-up to be sure I hadn’t missed something, and this really drew me out of the story.

That said, overall I really did enjoy reading about Meredith’s computer woes, her difficulty in juggling her various clients and starting up her new business. The characters were interesting and fun and I found this to be a sweet, mostly happy story that made it a quick, good read.

In 1905 New York City, affluent Millie Moore wants to be outspoken like the suffragettes she admires. She also wants to rid herself of an annoying and controlling suitor. For a well-brought up young lady whose mother fears her impending spinsterhood, speaking her mind is an uphill battle.

When Raymond Wilson sees Millie at a rally, it’s love at first sight. Not wanting his stutter to ruin his chances, he enchants a little candy heart to do his talking for him.

For Millie, Raymond is a breath of fresh air. And maybe, just maybe, someone she could love. But for her social-climbing suitor Guy Elliot, he’s a threat to his plans. And Raymond isn’t the only one who knows something about magic. Now the ante has been upped and Millie is the prize…

Don’t say it with words. Say it with candy.

Raymond was such a likable guy. I appreciated the fact that the plot spent as much time as it did showing how he spent his time when he wasn’t falling for a woman he’d just met. Seeing him dote on his nieces and nephews and struggle with his stutter only made me like him more than I already did. He felt like a real person to me because of how well I got to know him.

The fantasy elements of this story were faint. While I wouldn’t expect a romance to necessarily go into as much detail about how the magic in that universe works as I would from something that was purely fantasy, it would have been helpful to have more clues about Raymond’s abilities and how they worked. Mentioning them without explaining any of the rules about what magic can be used for made certain scenes confusing for me because I never knew what Raymond was and was not capable of. Had it all been clearer, I would have chosen a higher rating as I really liked the plot overall.

The chemistry between Raymond and Millie couldn’t have been better. Their personalities complemented each other beautifully. What was even better than that was how effortlessly they brought out the best parts of each other when they spent time together. Seeing them get along so nicely made me hope they’d have a happy ending.

Marry Me is a good choice for anyone who is in the mood for an old-fashioned romance with a hint of fantasy.
