Leanne and Mickey were clearly the main hero and heroine, and I greatly enjoyed their slow, sweet drop into love with each other. There was also plenty of interesting and really well written plot to keep me turning the pages. Between the nefarious happenings at Mickey’s club, Mickey working office hours where possible for his dad at his business and Mickey’s moonlighting as a singer there is more than enough action happening I feel to keep most readers interested.

I found this to be a wholesome, really well paced and lovely story to read. Very romantically sweet, it’s the sort of story I’d happily share not just with my friends, but also my mother or younger women just beginning to explore sweet romances. While there’s certainly romance to it, the happiness and sweet spark is something that lends itself to being shared with family and friends. While I was a little disappointed that much of the plot was fairly predictable, that in itself was rather like a cosy, warm blanket to wrap myself in. The fact nothing too outrageous or crazy happened is sometimes exactly the sort of romance story one wants to read.

A delicious, sweet romance full of good plot and excellent characters.

This book offers good writing style in a entertaining format. It has a hint of action with a lot of romance. Elle and Patrick were put together to track and destroy a demon that could be Pyro. The story fell short on action and hunting demons but spent much time on the attraction between Elle and Patrick. The action and fight scene with the demon was very brief. The book spent more time discussing Elle and Patrick’s growing attraction to one another. I didn’t like how the story changed so quick from fighting and staking out the demon to sex and having a romantic relationship.

This was a quick read, not wordy, and it tells enough details and description to build a story that a reader can easily follow along. The characters were likable and both strong. Even though they live as humans they are willing to fight for a cause. Elle has a kind soft side to be a preschool teacher but then is able to handle her own when needed to fight demons. Patrick is set on not being a part of the war in fighting demons. He has his music career that he enjoys but he also is able to hold his own when up against a demon.

Dark Deliverance didn’t really deliver much action, but focused on the romantic connection between Elle and Patrick. I hope that this installment of the series was just setting up the relationship and that the next book will deliver more action and hunting.

If you enjoy a quick well written read that includes a fast paced paranormal relationship this is a story that you may want to add to your reading list.

This was the perfect book for me to escape from the summer heat. It was literally refreshing to read a story staged during the late winter season in Colorado with snow. I lowered my A/C and snuggled with a blanket and thoroughly enjoyed reading about Maggie and Colton’s growing attraction & evolving relationship with each other.

I was a little annoyed with Maggie’s insecurities regarding trust in Colton that he wouldn’t leave her but, lucky for her I can’t resist reading about a hero that is a strong cowboy with an instinct to protect those he loves.

The story was cleverly written and often made me chuckle at Maggie’s quick wit and Colton’s persistent humorous teasing. The synopsis mentioned a mad man was after Maggie which made it difficult for her to run her cupcake bakery shop. This suspense kept me turning the pages.

The plot wasn’t totally predictable; I suspected who was threatening Maggie’s life but wasn’t 100% sure. I thought the story was well written and flowed smoothly with plenty of interesting twists. I particularly enjoyed Colton’s clever and unique proposal to Maggie at the end. I have to mention that the descriptions of the cupcakes were to die for. I seriously was craving one of Maggie’s cupcakes and wished her shop existed locally near me.

I am curious if a story will be written for her best friend Lizzy and Colton’s brother, Dade. They would make an interesting couple. I would definitely buy this book and recommend it to my friends but I’d warn them to have a cupcake to go with it. 🙂

I found this to be a lighthearted, sweet and fun time-travel to the Old West style story. There were a few mysteries I wish that had been given explanation. Like how Phebe went to sleep in jeans and woke in an olden-style dress. Or how there was almost no commenting on Phebe’s very non 1866 style of speech (from calling the Sherriff an asshole to slang like “one way ticket to crazy town…”). While I completely understand explaining these sorts of things might have been difficult and possibly jarred the flow of the story, I really feel they could have added significantly to the story-line and enriched the world to my perspective. Partly by deepening the experience – how would a modern woman fare with the speech, style, food, hygiene etc of 1866? – but also by adding an extra layer of realism and complexity of the interactions between Phebe and Rafe. Plus it could have been downright fun to see much of this from Phebe’s point of view.

That said, I really enjoyed Phebe’s character – a modern woman and firecracker, struggling to fit into a time long gone. I also really enjoyed Rafe. I found him not just to be a traditional style, honourable and strong law man – but also quite decently open minded (particularly given the time period). I was thrilled that Rafe listened to Phebe’s thoughts and didn’t just expect her to be a shy, retiring woman. The sex was hotly written and fairly explicit. Nothing kinky or outrageous, but certainly modernly written and with no closed doors. With just the one sex scene (and some deliciously hot kissing here and there) I don’t feel this story is too sexy for most romance readers.

Toward the end of the story there’s a clear link-in with previous books. I hadn’t read any of the previous stories in this series, so that part of it didn’t mean as much to be as longer-term readers might find. Except for a few parts right at the end the rest of the story can certainly be well understood as a stand alone.

With interesting and complex characters, time travel back to Old West and returning to the modern era, spicy romance and all sorts of good and bad guys I found this to be a lovely, good read with plenty going on. I’m sure most readers will find something to enjoy in this fun and adventurous story.

I found this to be an interesting short story. The start was a little clunky to my mind – while we open in the present day we fairly quickly move back in time to Danielle and Luke meeting. While I feel the author tried to make this regression seamless, I personally find it easier to follow time-jumps (even small ones of a few months like this) if there’s some sort of sub-heading – or “Three Months Ago…” to mark where the time has changed. The normal “asterisk break” simply signifies a normal scene change to me, so I got a little lost at the start.

Aside from this though I enjoyed the story. I liked Danielle and thought the meeting up with Luke was different and fun. Although they got together quickly, I expected it to happen fast given the length of the story. I would have loved a little more time to be spent on Luke’s recovery – instead of jumping ahead in time maybe have had Luke and Danielle talk about their future, make some plans. Considering Luke’s accident was where the story started I feel it would have been a bit more satisfying to spend more than just a few pages in that place before jumping back and forth.

Readers should know there was one creepy scene – certainly not horror (to my mind) but enough to make me shiver. For an otherwise happy, fluffy and light romance story I found it a little jarring – though it definitely gave the story a unique twist and will remain memorable to me.

The author managed to mix good characters, an interesting plot and inject just a little bit of small-town psycho into a story in a very small number of words. All up this made the story lovely to read in my mind. Overall I enjoyed it and would definitely look for more by this author.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Barnesville is a nice small town and the story was believable in that aspect. The small town people and closeness of such. Everyone knows everyone, the gossip mill and the picture of the legendary Main Street; the location for the family restaurant and church. I found it puzzling that Gillian came back to town because her mother was sick, but Gillian’s purpose seemed more about who was her daughter’s father. What mother wouldn’t want a father for her daughter? Gillian’s prom night left her inebriated and pregnant. Now Gillian has found the courage to find out what happened that night.

Gillian’s mother is sick and the story really didn’t touch much on why the relationship between Gillian and her mother Rachel was dysfunctional. For Rachel to be on her death bed I would have expected her to be more compassionate and wanting to leave with her daughter’s relationship in a better place. There was no resolution or feelings to the mother-daughter relationship. Since this is such a touchy matter, as a reader I would have liked to have been given more about why there was such a strain on this relationship.

Gillian wasn’t aware of the feelings Andrew had for her. She has always had her eyes set on Lucas. For some reason Gillian’s mom decides now is the time to reveal family secrets and this leads Gillian’s pursuit to turn towards Andrew. This made her seem desperate and in urgent need of a man. Once Gillian and Andrew start their relationship it moves so fast it was very difficult to believe. The story was set in length to possibly keep the reader in suspense, but to me it was pretty predictable.

The writing is good and told in a easy to read format. The plot is interesting and one that had my attention to know why Gillian didn’t know who was the father of her child. There’s something about stories that take place in small towns that I find very likable. The plot was one that had a few holes in it to me but overall this is an enjoyable quick read with a resolution for Gillian. If you enjoy a book with a happy ending of love this is a book you will want to add to your reading list.

Soon Toffy begins to find lost items and solve the unsolvable with the help of her spiritual advisor. Adorna simply cannot believe that ghosts exist and even if they did why would a Roman ghost be residing in her humble lodging house?

Adorna is running a bed and breakfast to keep her household running and allowing her to take care of her aunt. Her husband has died and left her a bit of money but not enough. Now if she could just get Aunt Toffy to stop talking about a ghost she visits with…

This the beginning of a cozy mystery series and it’s a very good start. The author gives you interesting characters, builds lot of quirks in and even throws a bit romance in for good measure. It’s not a long but a lot happens and you will sit in one place until you’ve finished the story. It’s too much fun to read to leave it.

She ends up with an odd fella that wants a room and hauls a duffle bag along with him. He goes out early each morning and comes back dirty and sometimes wet. He won’t tell anyone what he is doing.

Adorna has regular tenants and she’s very thankful for that. They’re like family. But the gods are conspiring against her. When Rawlings grandfather suddenly decides he must get married and have children NOW, it makes the story all that much more interesting. Especially since the ghost doesn’t like and pinches the bottoms of the ladies his grandfather is interviewing. Then word gets out that they have a ghost. Soon she has no one staying at her inn and lots of people gawking.

There is a ghost. Rawlings has one at his house, too. This story is fanciful but its great fun to read. I’ll be watching for the one in this series. After all, Rawlings is still a bachelor and he hasn’t solved his quest yet. If you like cozy mysteries, you’ll love this one. Rawlings’ grandfather is a unique individual.

Jennifer Ellis, in Finding Rose Rocks, is at one of these crossroads in her life.
