Olivia and Dezz’s “relationship” has spanned decades. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at some of the situations they find themselves in. Through all their ups and downs, they refuse to acknowledge what everyone else already knows. Olivia and Dezz are in love. Unfortunately, neither of them know to express their feelings in a healthy, adult way. The friction between them is evident from the very first page. Consequently, their battles have become increasingly epic and both Olivia and Dezz are at a breaking point. Will they open up to each other, or let their road trip take them in separate directions?

I can’t believe Olivia and Dezz have fought with each other for so long. They have great chemistry underneath the intense conflict they generate. While it was entertaining to watch them pick at each other, it was also bittersweet, especially when they reminisced about the past. Each memory pinpointed a missed opportunity to change the dynamic of their relationship. Neither one seemed to know when to stop, especially Dezz. There were so many times Olivia showed a softer side and instead of responding in kind, he chose a sharp jab. When Dezz finally begins to understand how much time he’s wasted, he makes a desperate play for Olivia’s heart, but is it too late?

While I enjoyed watching Olivia and Dezz spar, I feel that it was drawn out too long. The whole book was about them trying to find a different way of life, preferably together, and it almost happened several times. Unfortunately, something always happened to keep them apart and then either Olivia or Dezz would lose their nerve and walk away convinced they didn’t belong together. This generated a lot of interesting tension, but it became a bit much after a while. I won’t spoil the story with too many details, but I will say that there is a point when they find their way to each other again and they seem set for a happy ending. After everything they’ve been through, all the confessions, and all the revelations, the moment finally seems right for a total reconciliation, but everything falls apart again. It was very disappointing to build up to what could have been a happy moment only to have it snatched away yet again. It was just one time too many for me.

Despite this issue, I am pleased to report that this strange couple does eventually find their way to a happy and satisfying ending. Readers definitely need to have patience when following the misadventures of Olivia and Dezz. I’m sure their future will be interesting to say the least.

I enjoyed reading Wild Goose Chase. Olivia and Dezz are well rounded characters and their relationship is undoubtedly intriguing. Readers looking for a book with a couple on a difficult road to romance will certainly want to give Wild Goose Chase a try.

He won’t be paid but he will get some publicity and he’s hoping his sister will see it.

The story begins with hope, there’s a murder that Ed is accused of, and nothing happens in China without bribes. The backwoods villages have a shortage of women available for marriage so any woman there that has no one to protect or provide for her gets abused. It’s a sad story but Ed does get some justice for the mistreated women.

This look at China is like a visit to the areas they don’t want you to see. There is plenty of non-fiction out there to support Mr. Qiao story. Reading this will make you very happy you live in the US. The story reads smoothly, draws you in and pricks your interest. Just don’t let it give you nightmares.

Even though this is a book dealing with the harshness of war it is also heart warming to read about the families and how they deal with their men away at war. With the task of recruiting many men and writing letters for the women Charlie gets to hear the most intimate parts of many relationships. Charlie develops a fondness for the women that brings a heart warming feel to the book. To read and see that Charlie still suffers from mental stress of his time in the war but that he also turn around and make something loving come from that bitterness makes Charlie a real hero.

I see this as an inspirational story because of Charlie’s dedication and compassion for the men of military service. The story offers flashbacks of Charlie’s war time and his current position as a recruiter for the Army. While recruiting, Charlie is adamant that the women write to his men.  Charlie’s life seem to revolve around keeping the men at war encouraged. This is where his compassion for the men is displayed so strongly. He could have served his time and went on to do his duties as a recruiter. His being away from his mother and sister and not getting returned letters made him upset and frustrated. This could definitely play a vital part in his need to make sure others stay in contact with their families.

The book is well written and tells a unique story based off of true events. I did find the book entertaining. I wanted Charlie to find a happy ending. The dialogue such as:  “Ya’ll, Marser, and sah” took awhile for me to get use to. Readers should be mindful that the language used in the book is dialectic that was acceptable during the 1800’s and the description of war scenes may be too harsh for readers that don’t want to read the details of war.

I would recommend to those that enjoy a good read, but not necessarily one that ends in a completely happy ending.

Anne was pleased to see the detective she’d met on a previous murder case. She had lied to him then, so she know he wasn’t going to resume their friendship as it was in the past. But she was determined to be at least friends and maybe something more.

When another agent is found in dead in his room, the case speeds up. Anne finally remembers what she had forgotten and almost gets herself killed by letting her face give her away.

It’s a fast, exciting read with lots of characters to both love and hate. It’s easy to feel sympathy for Anne who is trying to recapture a lost love, get rid of an unlikeable critique member, and stay alive.

Why not take a walk in the publishing world and see just how cut throat it is?

The dialogue, misunderstandings and the reactions of the characters are so well crafted that the reader feels that they are watching the events unfold rather than just reading about them. The events that occur are believable and the world line of the main characters and secondary characters is so strong that is a reader picked up Fate Forgotten without reading the prior book, they would not be lost in the story.

This is a fantastic read and all of the characters have dynamic lives. The descriptive feelings that the characters experience are completely explained and the reader sees the amazing world from the point of view of the character. The author does a phenomenal job blending the storyline to make it believable and to give the reader an opportunity to look into a world that would not normally be visible to mortal eyes!

Be sure to take an adventure with Fate Forgotten, it is one in-depth story that should not be missed!

Fraser and Cassie have the potential to be a great couple. When Cassie figures out that Fraser is a witch, he doesn’t take the news well and their budding romance is derailed. Fraser doesn’t automatically accept everything Cassie tells him. His entire world has changed, and he needs time to process that. I find that very realistic. When Fraser’s world is rocked by another change, will he and Cassie find strength in each other, or let their chance at love slip away?

I would really like to know more about Cassie and Fraser’s world and the rules that govern it. Are there lots of angels and witches or are they rare? Do angels and witches cooperate with each other often? Are there other supernatural creatures? What sort of training do angels and witches go through as they learn to control their powers? While Ms. Copper provides enough information to make this story satisfying, I felt like I’d just skimmed the surface, and I was left wanting to know more.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Love Supernaturally. It is a fun and quick story sure to delight romance fans.

She gets pushed around and distracted quite a bit by the men in her life throughout the story, especially by Bryan. She can’t be blamed for falling in love, and I understand that Ivy would want to relax and have some fun after leading very serious life. However, Bryan is suspected of murder, and I felt that she needed to be more forceful in making Bryan see how serious the situation was.

Bryan made an interesting hero. He seems like a typical playboy at first, and he sets out to distract Ivy from her purpose by dragging her to multiple parties. However, I do see quite a bit of change in Bryan as the story progresses. Underneath Bryan’s flippant exterior lies a more serious man who is masking his pain by playing a role. I think his character had more potential that I would have liked to explore in greater depth.

I enjoyed reading Love and the Pursuit of Law. It is a quick and entertaining read easily read in one sitting. Readers looking to take a spin through the Jazz Age might want give this romance a try.

After finishing this novel, I felt as though I had made a room full of new friends and found a little extra meaning to living life itself. This is a debut novel for author Kathy Weyer, which amazes me further. Stitches does not read like a book written by a novice writer, but rather one written by one of the greats.

Is it without its flaws? No, unfortunately it has many editing errors, simple ones that even a novice proofreader should have caught and fixed before sending it to print. Considering the high quality of writing and storytelling, these errors were disappointing. I would have gladly elevated this to a “Best Book” status if it were not for the editing mishaps.

Stitches is one of those rare books I am sure to find myself reading again before too long. And I am genuinely excited to see what comes next from this author! Not only did this story have ghosts, it also had a mystery to solve, the truth behind why so many ghosts are inside one home. I guessed who was at fault in the first third to half of the book, but this was not a problem. The real mystery and interest to the book is in the twist on how they did it, and the history behind their criminal activity. This was fascinating to uncover and completely unexpected. This discovery and the bonds between ghosts and the human characters kept me wondering which side would win and survive to see another book, and whether the ghosts would ever be at peace.

Sloane as a character starts one-dimensional. She has one need and lets little else get in her way. This makes her foolish, and she jumps into bad situations too quickly. It’s also realistic. She is in the depths of mourning for the man she grew close to and, after his death, convinced herself was perfect.

Sloane’s partner in solving crime, Jonah, is an FBI agent and so not always at hand to help her out of her emotional crisis, and this story’s crisis. However, he is loyal, patient, clever and comes across as very attractive. The problem? She’s not only hung up on her dead ex, but Jonah is also her ex’s best friend. This creates a romantic crisis to go along with the plot’s tumultuous ride through a murder mystery. (Be warned: violence and neglect are explored in the telling of the murders and could cause upset.)

In terms of sexual content, the only fully fulfilled sexual acts are with the dead romantic interest, Michael, in a kind of alternate reality which Sloane reaches during her darkest moments. I found that it was written well but I could not immerse myself in the story as it was written as if it was between a memory and the present, as well as with a person who is now dead, which makes the whole process somewhat odd.

However, the new, dreamy FBI agent is clamouring for Sloane as much as she is in denial over enjoying his company and I foresee a sequel with as much thrilling action and fulfilling mystery as this book, only with the addition of blisteringly hot trysts with a new partner. Bring it on!

Mel had very few friends, but she took care of a lot of ghosts in her salvage yard. Her father spent most of his time on the road collecting salvage with ghosts attached to them. Some of the resident ghosts earned their keep by attending to matters in the community which would be difficult for a fully fleshed human to do. Others stayed for a while then passed to the other side.

Her loneliness ended when she met Becker, the local vet, and they started dating. He gradually became aware of the ghosts and Mel was relieved when it didn’t seem to make any difference to their relationship.

Their peaceful existence changed when marble statues began appearing in the center of the town and Mel is convinced it has something to do with a rogue ghost. She and Becker set out to capture the ghost and return the statues to life.

This book is warm and lighthearted with a little bit of strength and determination. I knew Mel and Becker would win as they are such strong characters. There was no way Mel was going to let a ghost terrorize the town. A bit of humor also helped the story along and I found it to be one of those books I couldn’t put down. Although only 86 pages long, it packs a lot into these pages and provided me with an excellent few hours of reading.
