I found this to be an interesting mystery/suspense story. I enjoyed the Christmas premise – and thoroughly enjoyed a Christmas story where the heroine pretty much hates Christmas – I found it quite refreshingly different. I also enjoyed how there were a few sub-plots mingled in with the main plot of the killer who murdered Sabrina’s family and held her captive a number of years ago.

I thought the cold and isolated lake was an excellent backdrop for the murder-mystery and with a strong set of secondary characters my interest was captured quickly. The sub-plots with such a cast of good characters kept me turning the pages eagerly, deeply invested in what would happen next. I was exceedingly pleased when a number of my guesses about the various plots turned out to be incorrect (nothing I love more than a mystery that keeps me wondering!) but I did manage to predict a few of the more clichéd aspects of the plot. Still, I found overall the mystery was refreshingly different and kept me on my toes, so I really enjoyed that.

There is plenty of – very antagonistic to my mind – chemistry between Josh and Sabrina. Usually it annoys me when the hero and heroine spend most of the story at each other’s throats and then magically decide they actually really like each other toward the end of the story. In some respects this really frustrated me. While there certainly was chemistry both Josh and Sabrina really did seem to strongly dislike each other so that made their eventual romance seem fairly unrealistic to me. Thankfully I found this story so heavily invested in the suspense/mystery aspect of the plot I could just ignore the small romantic sub-plot and I don’t believe this lessened my enjoyment of the story at all. I feel this is a really wonderful mystery/suspense story, I just personally found the romantic aspect of it lacking.

With plenty of interesting and strong secondary character’s and a few really intriguing sub-plots as well as an excellently written main murder plot I found there was a lot to enjoy about this story. I very quickly found myself invested in both the mystery and a number of the characters and would happily read more mysteries by this author. A good, suspenseful read.

Readers looking for a quick, naughty and hot short story should definitely find this one delectable. I enjoyed the dirty talk between Marcus and Emily and the sex was blisteringly hot and certainly explicit. A part of me wished that there had been more time to explore Marcus’ character. This story was told from Emmy’s first-person point of view, so while Marcus’ attraction to Emmy was certainly clear and understandable, I didn’t get as good a feel for his character as hers. With such a short story, it is also of course very difficult to get a solid, good feel for what their relationship really is and how they would interact outside of the bedroom.

Sizzling hot and slightly kinky (calling Marcus “Sir” and a bit of light spanking) I believe this short story should appeal to many erotic romance readers. There is a definite Happy For Now ending and I would certainly read more about these characters in the future should another short story come along.

There are quite a few chaste kisses, but all other physical affection occurs off-screen. I love how the author didn’t just info-dump all of Penny and Del’s history – but rather the two characters caught up on all their missing time together, sharing and telling each other stories and exchanging that information in what I felt was a really realistic manner. This also helped me see the small sparks of attraction grow between Penny and Del and made the start of their relationship feel so much more special and wonderful to me.

I enjoyed how they got to know each other again, how they didn’t just jump into bed or race toward their Happy ending – but how they allowed their chemistry and relationship to flourish at a slower, more enjoyable pace. This really helped make the whole story feel more solid and enjoyable to me as I could relish and take time to appreciate everything Penny and Del already had, and what they allowed their relationship to grow into. My only small, very minor disappointment with this story was that the conflict aspect of the plot (Del’s ex-wife and Penny’s ex-fiance) really felt stilted and a little unrealistic. While I can completely appreciate that the author wanted some form of conflict/antagonist in the story, I personally feel that stories that revolve around the characters as strongly as this don’t necessarily need such a clichéd conflict to make the story better.

I found this to be a lovely, slow-paced, wonderfully sweet romance with interesting and appealing characters. A wonderful story that readers of all ages should enjoy.

Evan Galworthy’s story intrigued me. The secrets, hardships, and his survival skills are remarkable. However, an undercurrent of anger and hurt about his murky past that nobody will tell him about makes him feel unworthy to pursue a life with a wife and family. How his story unfolds bit by piece kept me turning pages. Even though he loves Constance, he feels he must let her go. He does get a “set-down” from her when she tells him not to presume what she needs and then she proceeds to take matters into her own hands—delightful reading!

Mrs. Crook, the inn owner, and the bishop are two of the most interesting secondary characters I’ve read about in a while. They do surprise.

Sarah Richmond does a great job of revealing how the social structure is changing as new inventions and a new rich segment of working people come emerge in early twentieth century England, while entertaining the reader with the deeds and misdeeds of flawed characters, some of whom rise above their flaws and others who cling to their flaws to the very end. Her writing style makes for smooth reading.

Once back home, Diarmad has the weight of being the new laird of his clan—a clan hit hard by all the warring that has taken place. Duty and desire have him conflicted.  Mara’s heart breaks in a thousand pieces. She plans to leave.

To tell how the author resolves this conflict would be a spoiler. I’ll just say Laura Strickland does a masterful job of keeping all the characters ‘in character,’ gives some really ‘bad guys’ their comeuppance, and manages to give more than one couple a happy-ever-after

Highland historical novels are one of my favorites. Honor Bound was a joy to read.

I liked Nell from the moment I started reading. She’s feisty, smart, compassionate, and resourceful. Unfortunately, Nell’s latest target, businessman Colin Doyle, might be her last. His scheme is far more nefarious than Nell ever imagined, and Doyle has the resources to pull it off.

As Nell pursues Doyle, her path becomes tangled with Sam’s. Their attraction to each other is clear right from the start despite Nell’s unusual disguise. They work very well together and it immediately became clear to me that they would make a great couple. Nell and Sam find themselves in some pretty dangerous and intense situations, but when Sam has a quiet moment with Nell, he lays his feelings out in the open immediately. However, Nell isn’t quite ready to surrender her heart for fear of losing her identity and independence. Sam proves himself to be a true hero in that moment. He makes his feelings plain, but gives Nell the time and space to make her own decision. Even as Nell tries to push Sam away, it was clear to me that this couple was destined to be together, even if they need a bit of a push from the spirits that guide Sam to make it happen.

Ms. Kelley has a great sense of humor that shines through in the dialogue of various characters, particularly Daisy, a delightful secondary character well on her way to becoming Nell’s best friend. Daisy’s colorful interjections are always good for a laugh.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Spirit Ridge. Nell and Sam are wonderful characters, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to follow them on their adventures. Fans of historical romance will certainly want to pick up a copy of this fast paced romance today.

Ms. Sams writes a tale that flows well, it’s short and sweet and it’s touching. It skims the war, talks about his family and his shock at finding Lyra alive. It’s an entertaining read (do you want to survive by eating lizards?) and it’s also sweet. The ending made me happy. It’s a good thing they talk to each other. This was a feel good story and I liked it.

The book is well written, the character are developed and the unique plot kept my interest. It has a somewhat intriguing start but spent a lot of time introducing characters and talking about horse training. I like the diary entries because they were informative and helped narrate the story along by giving more details. The story is interesting and told with a variety of characters and events that all combine into a balanced story with the mystery being solved by the end. Strange things are happening and items are disappearing. The author did a good job of pacing the story and explaining so that it was easy for me to follow the story as it unfolds.

The book wasn’t only about family history and huntings. The author threw in a threat to Ashby’s marriage. Luke hires a young lady that seems more interested in him than in working at his veterinary practice. This plays out in the mist of the paranormal mystery and is resolved.

Even though this book is part of a series this can be read as a standalone. I was not lost and was able to complete the book without questions or confusion.

This was a satisfying read that I would recommend to the reader that enjoys a book that is a balance between mystery and paranormal.

There is a beautiful lesson that comes with reading this book. The author did a wonderful job of portraying that members of God’s family know there is a place where all are welcomed and loved.

The story touches on several issues such as race, family and freedom. True freedom is not determined or controlled by man. This is a happy, heartwarming feel good read with a great plot that is well worth the read. It’s filled with loving and caring characters whose voices are still with me after the story is over. At the end I found myself appreciating the author for the task of writing this complete story and was glad that I picked such an awesome read.

Abby Rose’s life started under grim circumstances: being hunted down to be killed by her grandfather, but fortunately Momma Hattie was there to help her. Along with the protection of Jack Bradley, the two remain hidden from John Wesley. Even though it’s been eighteen years John is still on the hunt and Abby could still be at risk of being found. The characters are well developed and Momma Hattie is an example of strength and encouragement. Though she endured hardship she kept a positive mindset. Her words in a conversation to Lawrence are still fresh in my mind. During a life of slavery when Momma Hattie could have held hate and anger she chose to focus on her blessings instead of dwelling on her tragedies. That just spoke volumes to me. When something crappy happens, or life isn’t going our way, we have to change our perspective.

This was an epic family love story about building a family and relationships. It’s love beyond race and blood. It’s standing for a change even though tradition has already written how the laws of man should go. This wasn’t just a book that when I finished it, I was done. This is a book that left me thinking about what traditions I carry and what I can change.

Lawrence Mallory marries Elizabeth Bradley and moves to the south to help his sister Kathleen and her husband Adam O’Daley on the O’Daley Ranch. With Elizabeth’s mental condition her father sends Momma Hattie, Abby Rose and Eli with Lawrence and Elizabeth. Building a home in the south takes some getting use to for everyone but mostly those in contact with Elizabeth and her worsting condition. This book offers a full story of events that are hard to summaries but the over all message is one that was delivered without being preachy.

I highly recommend this to readers who enjoy a clean read and one that covers the good and the bad in life, but still gives the reader a happy ending.

Tender, light hearted and a twist that I didn’t see coming. All these kept my interest to the end of the book. I pleaded silently with the two main characters to get their act together. Did they listen? The book needs to be read to find out the answer.
