I’m not even sure where to begin this review. I’m in awe of this story. There are so many moments where my emotions were engaged in a very real way. I was invested in its outcome. Trust me when I say it’s a good thing. A very good thing.

Mr. Manchester is a genius in creating Mac. I can see why Jen loved him so much. I can believe that his family is as wonderful as it is. And when things start to change, it was done so slowly and with insidious perfection that I found myself unable to put the book down. What in the world is happening to Mac? Why is he acting in such a profoundly erratic manner? I had to know. I had to understand.

The book was mostly told in Mac’s point of view but Jen’s side is told too. What is happening to the hero had a major impact on me because I was in his head. What I saw was not like the man I first met. If I was confused, it was even more poignant listening in on Jen’s internal dialogue. The confusion, the hurt, the pain – it’s all relatable and understandable. There were a lot of powerful scenes of introspection but no cure or hint as to the cause of Mac’s crisis.

The love between Mac and Jen is palpable and wonderful to witness. Their passion, though definitely behind closed doors, might at times have sounded like it might be able to fall into the sensual category, but I found it sweet, true and romantic. In light of all that, what happens to the two of them later is all the more heartbreaking because I got to meet them when they were the best of themselves.

The main theme, though hard won, was hope. There were also scenes of fervent prayers and the most commanding and potent of them all came from his kids; the youngest especially. Kids have simple needs and yet those uncomplicated prayers tap into the heart of very complex human necessities and desires – Unconditional Love. Forgiveness. Family. Three Shoeboxes is chockful of teachable moments that, in all honesty, came at a time I needed to read them. I was going through a rough patch when I read this book and at first I was depressed. But I kept on reading. Why? Because of Mac. His love for his family gave him a strength I respected. A goal I could relate to and I had a strong desire to see him persevere. Mac is a true hero. He’s not a stereotypical one-dimensional creation – he’s real. What he faced, felt, suffered, fought through and for, were all part of a very human and flawed human being and I could relate when he came to his pivotal moment. Does he give up? I would have understood that choice because I FELT it. When he looked at himself in the mirror, really looked, I teared up. How many people, every day, face that same moment in time?

Three Shoeboxes is a well-written, beautiful story. It’s not a light topic, that’s for sure. What it is, is inspirational – in prayer, in faith and in hope, and the joy of rediscovering the basics and what truly matters in life. The openness of emotion can be a freeing experience and I think Mac found his freedom and the author shared it with readers. Sure, Faust had something to do with it, absolutely, but that’s because the inner light in Mac was strong to begin with. Faust had something to work with. Mac had just lost his way and he needed the right person in his life to steer him back. He was blessed with a few good friends too. Truly, this novel is like emotional lasagna – many layers and mixed flavors, but when devoured together is fulfilling, satisfying and an experience to be grateful for.

Three Shoeboxes is a must read. It just is.

Protagonists like this one are one of the reasons why I get so excited when Mr. Frankel releases another book. He knows how to create characters who are multi-dimensional, and Sam was an excellent example of this.

I loved seeing how the romance between Sam and Esther developed. They had such similar personalities and interests that I couldn’t help but to root for them to end up together. The compatibility between them seemed to be pretty high from the beginning, and I only found more examples of things they had in common as I got to know both of them better.

The pacing was handled perfectly. Sam encountered new twists in his adventures at precisely the right moments. My interest in finding out what would happen in the next scene remained high. There was always just enough new information to keep me reading without pushing the plot faster than it should have unfolded. I especially liked the fact that the main character had plenty of time to introduce the audience to the people who were important to him before too many things that defied explanation began happening to him.

Ether is a must-read for new and longterm fans of this author’s work alike. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Everything I look for in a book was incorporated in this romance. I love it when both the hero and heroine have strong personalities yet have vulnerabilities. They are equally intelligent, caring and mutually attracted to one another. This was a sweet romance with the bedroom door firmly closed.

I was smitten with Justin. I’ve never had a man fight for me nor do I wish for that. However, I swooned over Justin’s chivalry.

The plot was absolutely riveting from the first page to the last. This story was exceptionally well written. I’m excited that it’s book one in the Parish Orphans of Devon series. I really hope the next book is about Mr. Finchley and Jenny. I hope there are some guest appearances from Justin and Helena.

This story evoked many emotions in me. I laughed, I got teary eyed and even experienced anger towards Helena’s uncle. The unpredictable moments had me feeling on edge. Mostly I felt happy. I love it when there is an epilogue that leaves me with a book glow.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this story. Unfortunately it’s past my bedtime. Please give this book a chance if you enjoy historical romance novels. I’m glad I did.

That piqued my interest.

With that being said, it would have been helpful to have more details about the setting and time period of this tale. So many parts of it were left for the reader to make educated guesses about based on a small number of clues that I had trouble putting the pieces together. As interested as I was in figuring out what was happening and in how many ways Billy’s society was different from the one I live in, at times it was frustrating for me to have so little information to work with.

The ending was well written. There were so many different things going on in the beginning and middle that I wondered how the author was going to tie everything together in a satisfactory way. Not only did he meet my expectations, he exceeded them. Everything from Billy’s fate to why, exactly, reading fiction was so forbidden in this world was explained nicely.

I’d recommend Literature® to anyone who enjoys solving literary puzzles.

I’m a sucker for the works of CH Admirand. The author has a way with words. In a few lines, I end up drawn into the story. I couldn’t put this one down. Granted, it’s a short story, but worth the hour or so read.

Margaret wants to save her father. He’s in trouble and she can’t let him get in deeper. Lord Avery spots an intruder on his property and takes matters into his own hands. Their story is rather simple, but Admirand adds special twists to keep the tale fresh.

It’s a sweet book and ends at just the right moment. I couldn’t ask for more–other than for the story to be longer so I can spend more time with these characters.

The story has a lot of pulling together, falling apart and secrets being dragged out. Cam’s son adds a bit of levity to the story, but also heartache when he appears to bond with his father. This is a nice romance story with lots of tension although some of it seems a little over the top. Still, I enjoyed reading it.

The major spikes in the story come from Autumn’s friendship with Thomas Dudley who Sib absolutely hates.

Nice read. This story is amusing, a pleasant read for an afternoon indoors.

I will not lie, I am a huge fan of the Oak Grove Series. Wedding at the Rocking S Ranch was a winner. It secured the Oak Grove Series in first place in my mind. This book can be read as a standalone, however, it is worth looking up its predecessors and reading them. The author’s note says “The town and its inhabitants have become so real to me that I wish I could go there and visit them in real life!” I also want to go to Oak Grove, Kansas to meet all the characters that I’ve grown to love. I have yet to ever binge-watch on Netflix but I would if the Oak Grove series was made into a T.V. show. Someone needs to start a petition for that to happen.

Wedding at the Rocking S Ranch was a heartwarming love story. The heroine, Cassandra, was once an outgoing, fun-spirited girl who lost herself after a set of unfortunate circumstances. Watching her journey to regain her self-confidence was cheer worthy.

Watching the hero, Wolf, be a part of Cassandra’s healing was rewarding. Wolf was patient, strong and kind. Wolf was treated unfairly by people because of his heritage which resulted in him being cautious and skeptical of other’s intentions. Wolf and Cassandra were brought together by a mutual loss. It was humbling to see that common thread between them blossom into something special. They each deserved love and joy in their life.

The plot was riveting. I couldn’t put it down even when it was well past my bed time. There was a hint of suspense intertwined among three shady characters. Even now I’m left feeling a bit of trepidation since they didn’t get the typical punishment handed to them. Usually I’d complain about that but given the set of sequences it all made perfect sense and was justified.

It goes without saying that the characters were well developed and relatable. The writing style was flawless. The pace was a steady quick momentum. I enjoyed every minute reading this story even when I finished it at 3:15 AM. Good thing I’m on vacation this week otherwise I’d be a walking zombie, though it’d be worth it.

I’m thankful that I got to read and review this book. It will go on my keeper shelf. Kathryn Albright is definitely on my favorite author list. I encourage others to give this book a chance and to check out the other books in the Oak Grove series.

The author has not told a love story with descriptions of what happens, she has shown the strong emotions between the hero and heroine by way of their actions. The Snow Globe is an integral part of the story and through this they discover a possible solution to Irene Elizabeth’s disappearance.

I love this book. It is short, deep and beautifully written. If this is what the author can do with a short novel, she must be a whiz at a longer one.

I’m not much of an Urban Dictionary follower but the synopsis for Mallory: The Mail Order Bride was an excellent example of “Hook and Reel”. Though, after finishing the book, the phrase “Hook, Line and Sinker” feels more appropriate. Where I come up with these analogies is astonishing to me. My husband says that my brain works like a spaghetti module when they are trying to predict the path of a hurricane. Regardless, if the synopsis sounds intriguing to you as it did to me then definitely give this book a chance. I was hooked and the plot reeled me in and the epilogue sunk me.

This happens to be book three in the A West Texas Frontier Trilogy. I did finish book two and went straight into book three. To be honest I haven’t read book one. I guess that’s further proof of my spaghetti module brain or the fact that these books in this series can be read as standalones. I was surprised after reading book two and immediately reading book three that the hero, William Gregor, was still at Fort Clark. I was left under the impression that he was going to have to be reassigned at the end of book two. I guess that doesn’t matter but I picked up on that. That little tidbit wouldn’t matter to a reader reading Mallory’s story first in the series.

Hebby Roman is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, for once again she wrote a superior quality romance story. There is depth to her plots lines that pull at my heartstrings. I am consistently engaged in the setting, with the characters, and with the thought provoking emotional conflicts.

The heroine, Mallory, has endured more than any one person should. To see her triumph over life’s challenges gives one encouragement and hope. It was touching to see William’s heart heal from the loss of his wife. Together, Mallory and William made a sweet romance.

The first couple of pages in this story start off slow and then all of a sudden I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath. The narrative did settle down after that heart stopping scene and glided steady throughout the rest of the book. There was a couple of other tense moments but not as thrilling as the first. Needless to say this story provides the reader with unpredictable entertainment.

If you live in a tropical climate and need to escape to a vast and treacherous mountain terrain, then this is the book for you. With the dry air and cooler temperatures, this refreshing, lovely romance story makes the must read list!
