As far as plots go, this one was fun and clever. Most everybody has seen the reality bachelor/bachelorette shows and knows how very little reality there truly is…in most cases. Finding Mr. Right Now keeps true to the stereotype but there was more. There was some real romance and characters that made me care about how the story would end.

One of the aspects of this book that really drew me was how realistic it felt. I could totally picture the behind the scenes production of a show like The Bachelor or The Bachelorette being very much like this. I found it interesting that the chosen Bachelorette for Mr. Right wasn’t a typical mean Hollywood Diva. Instead, Ronnie is the epitome of America’s Sweetheart when I met her. I wondered if that was the real her or if she was more of an actress than anyone knew. Only time would tell. Even if she’s not an actress, she’s definitely more observant than she’s given credit for. One of the elements I was looking for was to see how her story would turn out or if it would continue on in the next book.

The real heroine of this story is Monica, associate producer of the reality show. That is not a job for the faint-hearted. Essentially her job is to “deal with it”, whatever and whomever “it” was in any given issue. I liked her. She was, for lack of a better word, real in an industry that excels in proliferating make-believe. She’s also not nearly as jaded as she could be from working in Hollywood.

I liked Paul as well. He was only doing his job when he gets roped into being on the show as opposed to being behind the scenes pulling strings for the show as a writer. That’s a cutthroat industry so the way he gets forced into accepting the position of bachelor #10 was totally believable. The sparks flying between him and Monica were just as obvious. I wondered which direction the author would take it. If the bachelorette, Ronnie, would be a serious contender for his attention or if the focus would be on how he and Monica would develop a relationship around the show. Also, there’s that reporter, Cathe, they have a history and she seemed like trouble the first time I met her.

This trilogy is centered around the town of Salt Box, Colorado. It’s barely a speed bump in the road but the town has some interesting characters and also has an interesting affect on the tourist passing through. Nothing magical in the sense of paranormal. More like a chance to enjoy the slower pace, relax and consider life’s opportunities. Freedom, cleansing and the chances of new beginnings are the words that come to mind.

Altogether, this was a good read. I actually chose the second book in the series, Love in the Morning, to read/review but felt like I needed to see how closely the two were tied together so, I chose to read this one first. I’m glad I did.

I really loved how Avery and Tanner’s friends just kinda threw them together and helped set them up. I found it fun and unique – don’t think I’ve ever read before of a wedding planner being lumbered with one of the groom’s friend to set up a huge wedding in three weeks before. It was a great plot and lots of fun to read. I enjoyed how Avery came across to me as a modern, busy woman. One who was sensual but too professional and busy to indulge. I was a little disappointed in how fiercely she resisted Tanner’s careful advances.

Tanner might have had the reputation as a ladies man, but was not arrogant or conceited about it. He simply was modern, and enjoyed his sexuality. Owned it. That really appealed to me and made him seem strong and sexy without being a jerk about it. I also was impressed he recognized his feelings for Avery weren’t his usual fleeting impulses and how he was prepared to open himself up for something deeper and stronger relationship wise. I found throughout the story he was funny, sexy and flirtatious while very studiously toeing the line between not pushing and letting Avery know of his interest. The manner in which she shut him down after he’d gone to pains to show he was seriously interested – and not in a fleeting, wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am kind of way – really had me thinking less of her as a character and getting annoyed with her. It also made me feel rather as if Avery’s so-called confidence wasn’t real or as genuine as I would have expected. It put a bit of a dampener on my enjoyment.

There is plenty of chemistry in this book, which was a pleasure to read, and one steamy love scene. While graphic I found it tastefully written and very well led up to – no “their eyes met and they jumped into bed” here. Readers who don’t like any descriptive sex might want to skip those few pages, but I strongly recommend trying the rest of the book. The sex scene is only one tiny part of it and I feel it would be a shame to miss such a fun story for the sake of a few pages. Personally, I enjoyed the well-deserved culmination scene between Avery and Tanner and found it delicious and very much the happy ending this story needed.

A fun, quick read that I enjoyed.

Had a stressful day? Had enough drama for a while? Then The Greek’s Nine-Month Surprise is the perfect book to kickback with and relax. This is a comfortable, sweet and well-told romance that is soothing and can make a reader happy because the HEA is so full of love.

I kept waiting for something harsh, sour or some other kind of manufactured conflict to heighten the tension but I never got it. This novel does have a conflict but it’s mostly internal, emotional and familial. There is passion between the two main characters of Niko and Sofia, but the author focused on their getting to know each other, and of Niko trying every way he could think of to seduce Sofia into saying ‘yes’ to marrying him. He has a few flops along the way. Niko’s got a lot to learn about being a well-rounded human being and I enjoyed Sofia teaching him in the only way she knew how – by being herself.

This is classic romance and quite entertaining. There were some dialogue gems sprinkled throughout that enhanced the story’s ability to grab my attention and keep it, and allowed me to connect with the hero and heroine.

I think the most poignant element was watching Niko discover his heritage, his family and how much his grandfather truly loved him. That was the strongest scene in the whole novel because it really tugged on my emotions.

The Greek’s Nine-Month Surprise is definitely worth a look. It has heart, it’s simple and it’s a pleasant, pleasing read. I’m happy I read it.

There are multiple plots and the author has made sure that readers won’t get bored or get lost trying to keep track of what is happening. Joe and Cara’s first meeting was probably seeing her at her worst. In time they got to know each other well.

I would recommend to all readers to start from the first book to fully understand Catching Cara as there is one minor plot that started with the first book, which is still continuing. Though if readers want to read this one as a stand alone, they absolutely can.

Set during a time and place where the class system is firmly in place, Tournament of Losers is a very clever and original concept for a story. The main character, Rath, caught my attention immediately. He’s in the lowest of the classes and is self-aware enough to know he’s where he’ll be until he dies, so he lives one day, one job at a time and tries to stay out of trouble. Easier said than done when his father is so worthless more than one person suggests he’s literally worth more dead than alive.

His father’s latest scheme has Rath facing a three day deadline to acquire an astronomical amount of money or die. Thus the Tournament of Losers. If he can survive to the second round he’ll have the money he needs. If. If he could win…but the chances of that are so far south of slim to none, he won’t even consider it. He’d need more than Fate on his side. But what if he had something stronger than Fate in his corner? What if he had love?

This story is a romance at its basic plot. I wondered who would be the other half of the equation and how Rath would find time for a relationship with everything else going on. I liked how the author works it out and seeing who it would most likely be before it was confirmed, it led me to start speculating about how this story might turn out. Rath seems to be an equal opportunity whore (his word) so it could have been either a man or a woman. No matter the outcome of the tournament, falling for Tress was clearly going to change his life. I liked Tress a lot so, I was totally okay with that.

I was intrigued when I realized that someone or maybe a group of someones didn’t want Rath to do well, or even be in, the tournament. But who and why?

Since Rath is from the rougher, dirtier side of town, the story has a gritty feel to it but isn’t terribly dark. He has a cynical sense of humor and the majority of the Low City people I met seem to genuinely like him. I think it’s because even though he has to take care of himself the best way he knows how, he looks out for those who have even less and treats his fellow Low City dweller with respect…or at least the ones who deserve it.

I found it interesting to watch Rath’s growth in this story. He starts out as a likable character but he still had room to improve and remember his dreams to be more than the class he was born into. If I had to have a single critique about the book, it’s that the ending just ends. I mean it ended the way I figured it would but I think it would have been nice to have had an epilogue to show how Rath’s life changed after the tournament and how he changed the perception of the royal family and those who dwelt in High City. It just seemed that the differences made in class and how people were treated was so important to Rath, I could clearly see him being the one to cause change.

The story reads at a smooth pace. Not so fast that I got lost and not so slow that I felt the need to skip to dialogue. Readers who enjoy a good MM fantasy should give this one a read. There isn’t much in the way of descriptive sex but there is loads of romance.

Gunnolf’s story has been a long time coming. He’s been a favorite of mine just because for almost all of the series, all standalones, he’s been the loyal sidekick, the trusted friend and always had the makings of a hero. In The Viking’s Highland Lass he finally gets his chance, but he’s got to work for it. How? By resisting his urges and behave like a gentleman. I enjoyed his discomfort because Brina is a significant challenge to his composure.

I enjoyed watching her flower under Gunnolf’s care.

The conflict is typical for the time period – father dictates who his daughter will marry and the daughter knows she’s going to be in a world of hurt if it comes to pass. Drastic measures needs be taken and Brina doesn’t waste any time in escaping. Cue the start of her adventure.

The villain is an easy spot. He’s just enough on the scene to make it rough and threatening to the heroine, and by association, Gunnolf. However, he’s not present enough to take away from the budding romance between the hero and heroine. He’s a great reason to throw them together and an incentive to propel the movement of the plot.

The paranormal aspect comes from Gunnolf’s grandmother and a secondary character named Wynne. And, although Wynne is a more significant character than Brina or anyone could have dreamed, her role in this novel didn’t wow me. Her talent certainly is formidable and key in plot movement, I’ll grant you that. However, at one point she gives specific advice about how the talent to foresee can’t be forced and it’s ambiguous at best, whereas her talent reads like a controlled remote viewing camera with sound. It’s too convenient and a little unbelievable.

What was really written well were the passionate moments between Brina and Gunnolf. I enjoyed how he seduced her and how she blossomed under his tutelage. I also liked how some of the characters from past books showed up to help out. Again, their inclusion does not mean that a new reader will get lost. Not at all. They support and assist the hero and heroine where it counts and behaved as perfect secondary characters should.

The Viking’s Highland Lass is everything I hoped for when it comes to an HEA for Gunnolf. He deserved a special lass to fall in love with and Brina is perfect for him. I really enjoyed myself and can easily recommend this book. It’s a wonderful romance and I’m a happy reader.

Nick and Avery are good couple. She’s a little wishy-washy in the beginning about deciding if she wants to go after Nick or not. She decides “yes” and then talks herself out of it right up to the point where he reminds her why they are so good together. A truly combustible chemistry. It’s a good thing Nick is patient because her abundance of stubbornness and independence would be trying to any man, even Saint Nick.

I was curious about Avery’s time in Atlanta. Little hints along the way led me to believe she did more than attend medical school. It wasn’t just homesickness that sent her back to Warm Springs. I could tell that her personality was one that internalized problems. Interestingly enough, as much as she was determined to keep to herself, she was regularly annoyed when Nick withheld information. They had a lot to learn about communication and trust. It works out perfectly for an HEA but there were some rocky roads along the way.

I love a good “who done it?” so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the author didn’t give away the bad guy too quickly. And she gave me options. The blurb suggests that it’s someone Nick knows so I immediately started watching those closest to him. There were a couple of likely candidates. One would be disappointing, the other…devastating. It didn’t take long to eliminate the innocent one. The bad guy, though, wow! He truly had issues.

It was interesting to get to “meet” the bad guy first through his internal dialogue. I almost felt sorry for him, considering his circumstances and reasoning for his actions but in the end his anger and bitterness were just too destructive. He hurt people and intended to keep hurting people until someone would be forced to take him out. One tragedy that led to another.

This is a fast but smooth read. I haven’t read the others in the series but after meeting their respective heroes and heroines, I want to. I like the author’s voice and she has a good grasp on small southern towns and families.

This book’s heroine was nothing like I expected. Felicia is not the usual type of librarian and I loved that. Who is she? She’s a fashionista who not only loves books but also loves sex. Her meeting with the sexy detective was funny because she’s not what she seems. It’s deliciously good.

Felicia has been working long enough with her colleagues in the library to know that there was no way that a linguistics specialist would have been found dead in that section of the library. Literally dead. She could have just let the detectives do their work and uncover the truth but she knew that the detectives would need her expertise. But of course they wouldn’t actually ask, right? An alpha male like Mark asking Felicia for help? That does not happen that easily. So, she did exactly what she needed to do–she started investigating and uncovering the mystery. That led to a lot of ‘accidents’ that could have almost either killed or significantly maimed her.

This was a wonderful story that captured my attention when I saw the title. The story was good but the mystery element of it was a little too stretched. By that I mean, it was almost glossed over. There’s more focus on Felicia and Detective Rizzo’s chemistry. Plenty of that and the hot action to back it up. The romance became the backdrop or background until halfway through. This is a good romantic mystery read and a good beginning to a new series. It’s like a cozy mystery with an extra shot of sizzle.

Marriage of convenience. It’s been done many times. The difference I was looking for was how the characters behaved before the “reason to wed” as compared to after. Was there heat? Did they have chemistry? Was I looking forward to seeing how it would all play out? I was delighted in how the author answered these questions.

First off, I really liked the scene where Richard takes Esme to his room the first time. What happened wasn’t what I expected at all but I appreciate it. Since I haven’t read the other books in this series, yet, I can only assume that some of the history they allude to could have played out in a previous book. It might be interesting to start at the beginning and find out.

Secondly, they do have a certain version of adversarial heat. They haven’t always been friendly with one another but they aren’t strangers, either. There’s an automatic maturity to their relationship that put them on totally separate footing than if they had just met and knew nothing about each other. The author doesn’t have to waste precious space dealing with them learning about the past before they can move on to the present or future. It was a good call.

The Windemere family has a very interesting history, or maybe tradition is a better word for it, when it comes to the men of the house taking a bride. Knowing that the story eventually comes around to the “reason to wed”, I wondered when/if that tradition would come in to play. Richard states that he wants the tradition to die with his generation but he and Esme have some obstacles to overcome so, maybe or maybe not. Still, the particulars required of that “tradition”, I think Richard was correct in thinking that his ancestors had to be a little loony. When it did happen, it cracked me up.

Reason To Wed was a fun read. I am dying to know what happens to Harriett and Avery and Jillian and Mr. Hammond. So many interesting side characters with stories to tell. Readers who enjoy a spicy historical should truly give this one a try.

The beginning of the book introduces Eric as a man of action, integrity and honor. All good qualities to find in a hero but they are useless when a woman won’t trust those qualities even though she values them. Pepper’s experience with male alpha wolves has been a bit warped. A reader will see through examples shared in the novel just how skewed and twisted her exposure has been. They have formed her, hardened her and fed her determination to not only not mate an alpha wolf, but to not mate at all ever again. How is Eric going to get around that hurdle? By just being himself, which is pretty awesome as I’m sure he’d agree.

The internal conflict comes from Pepper and her extreme distrust and reluctance to even consider allowing Eric to pursue her. But she’s charmed despite herself, so I enjoyed watching her get seduced. The only drawback is the repetitive nature of her resistance to not wanting to be mated to an alpha. The author made that abundantly crystal clear early on; the constant reminders wore thin after a while and made me want to yell, “I get it! I get it!”. Eventually, she stops resisting because Eric is irresistible. The external conflict comes from the kind of alpha male that she abhors and he’s as stubborn, wily and ambitious as any criminal who wants what others have. The depth of his determination stems from something that happened in Pepper’s past and it was a surprise to find out how it played into the drama and suspense of the plot.

The author took some time to explore Pepper and Eric’s jobs and responsibilities, and gave me some idea of each of their personalities, character and quirks. It fleshed them out enough for readers to feel connected and interested in what happens to them. I know it did that for me.

One thing that happens, and what romance readers enjoy, is when the main characters succumb to the physical passion that drives them. All scenes were well written, steamy and effective.

Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply is fun, steamy, interesting and a page turner of a novel. I did enjoy myself. I liked the happy ever after ending and I thought it was romantic. Pepper and Eric went through a lot to get there but the journey was worth it. I’m pretty sure fans of the series will enjoy this story and since it’s a standalone read, there’s plenty for new readers to enjoy too.
