For wedding stylist Misty Morningside, mixing business with pleasure is a professional no-no. That is, until she runs into wedding photographer Adam Wright at a Valentine’s Day event. Dare they set aside business for one night of pleasure?

Misty works in the wedding business and is at a publicity event when the photographer catches her eye – her high-school crush, Adam. Adam can hardly believe his luck that his fantasy-woman from high school is at the huge wedding function and seemingly unattached. He’s not going to let this perfect opportunity pass him by. Not this time.

This is a sexy, fun, lighthearted romance. I found myself laughing aloud at many of the double entendres. I liked how Adam in particular made his intentions clear right from the start – that he felt he’d let Misty slip away in high school and had no intention of doing the same thing this time around. Misty, in contrast, seemed to doubt herself a lot and that was a little disappointing to me. While I loved her raunchy, sexy thoughts, she didn’t initially have the self-confidence to either speak the thoughts aloud, nor take the initiative in their physical relationship. This is a change from many of the more modern romance heroines – who usually know exactly what they want and own their sexuality. I felt this made Misty come across as both more realistic but also not as strong as I usually enjoy characters to be.

The sex scene is deliciously descriptive and quite intense. I was grateful we’d been given a good and – to my mind at least – clear understanding of Adam’s character. His intentions were good and he truly loved Misty. Without this knowledge some of his actions might have seemed slightly over the top – but I think after all the champagne Misty drank and Adam’s deep love of all things photography his actions balance out for the better. While there’s plenty of naughty thoughts flying around and some seriously steamy sex, the romance and emotional connection between Adam and Misty seemed real and solid to me.

I found this to be an enjoyable, fun and sexy Valentine’s Day story, one that was lovely to read. I’ll happily read more books by this author.

It’s beginning to look a lot like love . . .

As her thirtieth birthday approaches, deputy Jill Flaherty decides it’s time to live a little. When she walks into Sawyer Anderson’s bar in her sexiest dress, she’s not thinking that he’s her brother’s best friend or about the many women he dated during his years as a pro hockey player. All she’s thinking is that it’s finally time to confess to her longtime crush how she truly feels.

Yet no one in the small town of Christmas seems to believe he’s ready to settle down, not Jill, and certainly not Jack, who is determined to keep Sawyer from breaking his little sister’s heart. But as Sawyer and Jill’s relationship heats up, can he prove that he’s her happy ever after?

Looking for a heartwarming romance? A story that engages all your senses and makes you feel like you are there? A love story about a man who can’t resist the attraction of his best friend’s ‘not so baby’ baby sister’? A heroine who is strong in many ways but vulnerable when it comes to her heart? All this and more is in store for readers in the wonderful novel that is Happy Ever After in Christmas.

Jill is a sheriff’s deputy and she’s quite good at her job. A reader learns just how good she is during one of the books exciting plot climaxes. Before that though, readers are treated to a woman with hopes, dreams, insecurities and an untapped passion. The only person that comes close to breaching her heart’s protections is the hero, Sawyer. He’s an addiction she just can’t resist. I give her credit, she surely gives it the ol’ college try.

Sawyer has some huge hurdles to overcome to reach his happy ever after with the woman he comes to love, Jill. Some will tug on a reader’s heartstrings to the point that putting the book down isn’t an option. There is so much emotion being tapped that it’s hard for guy to know what to do. Thing is, Sawyer shows his love in a hundred different ways, he’s creative, dogged and earnest. When he wants something, he goes after it. But what happens when what he does isn’t working? Poor guy is put through the wringer, not the least of which is being the target of an angry villain.

Secondary characters abound to help the two lovebirds find their way. I guess this book is the culmination of a series but I never read the others, and yet, I never felt lost or that I was missing out on key elements. This novel is about Jill and Sawyer; the things that draw them apart and the things that bring them together, the joys of dating and the pain of parting and loss. It’s the sweet and simple way they come together again that embodies the best of what romance has to offer readers. Falling in love makes more than two people happy, it brings joy to all who love them as well. Happy Ever After in Christmas is a true delight of the heart. There’s so many things that I can share in this review but my words can’t do them justice.

The chemistry between Jill and Sawyer is very sensual and passionate. The spice is gentle yet powerful and very well written.

Happy Ever After in Christmas is a story not to be missed. Fans of the series should be plenty pleased if this final book is any indication of the stories before. New readers will find so much to like, it wouldn’t surprise me if they checked out Ms. Mason’s back list just to meet some of the other characters who helped on Jill and Sawyer in this novel. This is a wonderful read and an easy recommend.

Two decades after the Civil War, Josephine Marcus, the teenage daughter of Jewish immigrants, is lured west with the promise of marriage to Johnny Behan, one of Arizona’s famous lawmen. She leaves her San Francisco home to join Behan in Tombstone, Arizona, a magnet for miners (and outlaws) attracted by the silver boom. Though united by the glint of metal, Tombstone is plagued by divided loyalties: between Confederates and Unionists, Lincoln Republicans and Democrats.

But when the silver-tongued Behan proves unreliable, it is legendary frontiersman Wyatt Earp who emerges as Josephine’s match. As the couple’s romance sparks, Behan’s jealousy ignites a rivalry destined for the history books…

At once an epic account of an improbable romance and a retelling of an iconic American tale, The Last Woman Standing recalls the famed gunfight at the O.K. Corral through the eyes of a spunky heroine who sought her happy ending in a lawless outpost—with a fierce will and an unflagging spirit.

Wyatt Earp is a western legend. He was a man of strength both in spirit and in body. He tried to maintain the law in Tombstone and the OK Corral gun battle is a historical site. This is the story of his woman. She’s so very different from him and his lifestyle it’s amazing that they fell in love.

The author does a very nice job of mixing history and fiction. She remains true to the facts but gives them life by creating her story. She shows that both Josephine and Wyatt had the determination and desire to be together despite the odds. You can feel their characters as you read this story.

Josephine was Jewish and from San Francisco. She moves to Tombstone to marry Johnny Behan, a man she’s met and has decided she loves. She was quite naïve when she arrived but she learned quickly. Behan wasn’t all that anxious to get married and she refuses to become his mistress. As time goes on, she ends up bedding him but she still isn’t getting married. Then she comes home with his son and finds him in her bed with another woman. That’s the end of that relationship for her.

How Josephine and Wyatt get together, how Behan tries to get even for her leaving him, and the gunfights at that time make interesting reading. There’s plenty of action, her words flow well, and all you can do is hope things will work well.

My favorite part is the dynamics between Josephine and Wyatt. Both of them had other partners before they found each other but the dance between the two with the best prize being their love is what makes this book good.

At thirty-three he’s a bit old to be calling it his gap year, but that’s actually what it is for him. He’s in New Delhi when the Festival of Colours begins, and he meets Jaye when a handful of purple is thrown in his face. Jaye is eighteen and also on his gap year. And together they’re going to have a great adventure.

This is a fun and quick read. I enjoyed reading about the Festival of Colours and enjoyed both Jaye and Tim, but also Jaye’s two Indian friends. Seeing everything new through Tim’s point of view was a great way for the author to be descriptive without information-dumping too badly. I enjoyed learning bits and pieces of Indian culture, but a large portion of the middle of the book was steamily filled up with Tim and Jaye having sex and enjoying one another. I found the sex to be hot and descriptive, but very romantic and emotional as well. Personally, I didn’t find anything the least offensive or extreme and would think that most modern romance readers won’t find anything too outrageous with this M/M romance.

I found the ending a little unrealistic – but it was so happy and so romantic and deeply satisfying I was quite happy to disengage my brain, ignore logic and just enjoy it. Readers who hate cliché’s or stories where Fate steps in and magically fixes everything might be disappointed, but readers who can just relax and enjoy the happy ending should find this satisfying. Tim and Jaye so clearly love each other – even with their age difference – that it was a pleasure to read about them coming together and starting a lovely, sensual relationship.

A fun book with interesting cultural tidbits and a good bit of traveling fun. This is a steamy M/M that I really enjoyed.

But as he spends time with Lavonda in this rugged landscape, he realizes that what he wants isn’t just academic—he yearns for a life with her on the ranch. If she discovers his deception, this professor-turned-cowboy will lose his reputation…and Lavonda, too.

This is a really sweet romance story that is character driven and whose cast includes an opinionated cat and a donkey who thinks the cat is his BFF.

The Accidental Cowboy has plenty of adorable, charming and special moments sprinkled throughout. The romance that grows between Lavonda and Jones occurs in spits and spurts. There are mistaken assumptions, untruths or partial truths and marriage proposals for all the wrong reasons that create conflicts between them. Most are rectified and the main characters make up, and then there are the ones that cause some serious emotional plot twists that make a reader wonder if they’ll ever be honest with each other and come clean on all levels.

The one thing that annoyed me was Lavonda forcing Jones to admit what he was really doing. I simply could not understand the complete disregard for the possibility that Jones might be onto something. I didn’t like how the revelation was handled, how the university responded or how the people involved acted. Then, Lavonda finally lets her starch out, regrets her prudish demands and does an about face to then support Jones. All this at a time when his departure and lack of funding have finally become a reality does she finally decide to make the fateful journey to see what there was to see. I suppose better late than never, but this was the only area in the entire book where I did not think Lavonda a good heroine. I thought she was a ninny.

If not for that implausible conflict, the book is a good read. I thought the man/woman differences, the Scottish and the American differences, were well done, entertaining and put to good use. I’m a sucker for a rolling Scottish accent and Lavonda is no different except she actually gets her own Scotsman to romance her and I thought she was one heck of a lucky lady.

I’d classify this novel as a gentle romance with some light spicy loving to illustrate that both Lavonda and Jones are highly compatible. There are even some moments of effective self-sacrifice which showcases that they are worthy of the titles hero and heroine. The Accidental Cowboy ends with a confusing (because Lavonda comes from a loving but zany sounding family) but effective and humorous happy ever after that made the whole journey worth it. If you have time for a sweet read, then this is a good book to choose.

She regains consciousness in the gentle care of Mrs. Trombly, who believes the spirit of her dead daughter Phillipa is trying to speak through Ella.  Ella tells everyone she is Eleanor Reed. She wants no word to get back to her despicable cousin Alford where she is.

When Isidore Blackwood, the man who was affianced to Phillipa, hears of Ella, he is determined she will not take advantage of the sweet, grieving Mrs. Trombly that he loves like a mother.

The conflicts and undercurrent of dark secrets tug the reader into a tangled web that keeps one turning pages. What a mess these people have made!

Isidore, Viscount Blackwood, surely doesn’t come across as “hero” material when the reader first meets him. He did indeed have a tough row to hoe to wiggle his way into this reader’s good graces. However, what he overcomes and how he overcomes it makes for tension-filled, stay-up-late reading. His struggles give him a depth of understanding that eventually make him ideal for Ella who struggles to make a life for herself without family support while all the while coping with her little-understood epilepsy.

Joanne Lowell named the novel well. The title foreshadows the dark, dreadful issues that plague not only Ella and Isidore, but also many of the secondary characters, especially Clements, Isidore’s longtime friend and Daphne Bennington, who had been Phillipa’s best friend.

This author does a wonderful job of creating a sense of place as she lets the reader feel the distressing emotional undercurrent tied to the death of Phillipa and immerses the reader into the doings of the characters.

Isidore has to dig deep to redeem himself, but he does. Moreover, he affirms Ella and lets her know, without a doubt, she is worthy. He is a true “hero.” Dark Season has a unique, special happy-ever-after.

Renata is taking refuge in her best friend’s cottage – using it as a much needed escape for a few days. Unfortunately, Noah had also been allowed use the cottage and Renata is loathe to give up her weekend just because some guy happened to be there as well. Can she chill out when they’re both snowed in together?

This is an interesting “snowbound” style book. I found both Renata and Noah’s characters to be layered and complex, which was a big help since the book really did center around them with very little supporting cast. I found the “two steps forward one step back” style of the story a little frustrating at times. While it was perfectly understandable both Noah and Renata were a little prickly – they both have pasts and in their own way were running from their lives and themselves – after the first few times of one of them cutting off or shutting down on the other it got a bit repetitive. It was clear they were both interested in each other, and while Noah was prickly and secretive and Renata had been burned in the past they seemed to run very hot/cold with each other and this sent plenty of mixed signals – to each other but also to me as a reader.

Readers who like a slower pace with plenty of give-and-take between their hero and heroine should find this to be a good read. I thought there was a good length to the “getting to know you” period between Noah and Renata and they each shared plenty of themselves and their history while the attraction grew steadily between them. The only real conflict was the sometimes prickly interactions between them when one or the other closed off a bit emotionally. The plot was very character-centric – more than the first half of the book revolved around them learning about each other while snowed into the cabin. There was also only the one sex scene, so readers wanting a bit more spice might find this slower pace and less physical style of romance a bit slow. I personally found it satisfying, but not overly descriptive so I feel it shouldn’t be too much for most sweeter styled romance readers.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. For the most part I liked both Renata and Noah’s characters and while I got a little frustrated with them both a time or two it was a real pleasure to read about them finding love together and filing the empty place in each other’s lives.

I always hope for a happy ever after that satisfies but in Marriage Most Scandalous, the HEA was convoluted, shocking, amazing and yet for all of that, 100% fulfilling. This might be a slightly older book of Ms. Lindsey’s but it packs a powerful romantic punch such that if readers had missed this novel when first published, I encourage them to wait no longer. It’s a great romance!

The book starts off with a predictable scene for the times – a duel of honor. The ending of that prologue was emotional to say the least but the ramifications are felt 11 years into the future and none of them are good. What follows comes about because feisty Lady Maggie won’t quit and is determined to see her goal reached. What she does not know becomes clear and yet what she wants to know becomes integral to her journey. What no one realizes is that Maggie has set in motion of chain of events that no one could have predicted.

I laughed at how she got Sebastian to help her. I liked how grumpy he was and when he tried his The Raven glare at her, she sassed him right back. Maggie refused to let him get to her. But, eventually he does get to her, in the best of ways. And, true to romantic tradition, she gets him right back and softens him up like warmed up clay – still some lumps in there but she won’t totally give up until Sebastian reaches his full potential. His resistance is futile in the light of final truth.

My emotions were taffy pulled all over the place while reading. There are layers upon layers to unravel and as each one is revealed, the pages kept flipping faster. Each chapter is an exercise in amazement and entertainment. There is a mystery to solve and intrigue to puzzle out. The pace is brisk, the dialogue crisp, sometimes saucy and when Sebastian finally seduces Maggie to the ultimate act, it’s romantically sizzling and satisfying.

I had a blast reading Marriage Most Scandalous, and have no qualms about encouraging readers to discover this treat for themselves. The story is meaty, captivating, and filled with full-bodied characters worth getting to know. I enthusiastically tout this novel as a recommended read.

But when sparks fly between them, their passion quickly moves from the boardroom to the bedroom. And soon Merina is living her worst nightmare: falling in love with her husband . . .

If readers enjoy the marriage of convenience theme then this is the romance for you. I like the fact that Merina and Reese were actually very well matched. Perceptions, assumptions, laser focused goals and passionate explosions of dialogue were effective walls between the two, but it was the passionate speech with the door knob that set the stage for knocking down all those walls. What follows allows readers and each protagonist to get to know one another. The results, though shocking, disconcerting and surprisingly sexy to Merina and Reese, were pure entertainment for me. The Billionaire Bachelor is a fun spin on a well-loved theme.

This novel is quite the see-saw. Reese is broken, Merina isn’t, sort of. Then Merina gets really broken and Reese has to step up and take the scariest risk of his life. How it all comes about, from learning what broke the hero, to what makes a confident Merina into a woman uncertain of her womanhood, to forging a bond that takes both hero and heroine by surprise and actually makes them better people, is why this story is so compelling. I didn’t find any slow paced scenes in the book; the author kept this character driven romance rolling right along. Reese is complicated, with pride and shame coloring his stubbornness. Merina is loving, mostly open and the first one willing to take a chance on making this marriage deception into something real and forever. As with any good romance, the conflict makes that a bum decision, at first. I like how the author resolved it.

I enjoyed meeting the secondary characters that populated the novel in support of Reese and Merina. I found that Reese’s dad and brother were more developed as characters than Merina’s parents or her best friend. I have an idea that it was a planned decision since Tag’s character, Reese’s brother, seems like a likely potential hero. Who is going to make this seemingly happy go lucky man turn serious about love? That’s a good question I hope someday to see answered. I just have to wait for what will seem like forever for the next book. And, I found Penelope to be quite the dragon, even though well intentioned and doing what she was hired to do. I would love to see her as a main character someday. She’d be fun to fluster because in this book she seemed much too perfect at her job.

Another reason that I enjoyed the novel was because of Merina. I loved the way she was written regarding her openness and joy of life. She knew that she could get hurt along the way, but her nature would not allow her to shy away from grabbing every moment of bliss that she found in Reese’s arms. The way she melted for him was so romantic. And the tie thing she had going on? How the author used Merina’s fascination with Reese’s ties was incredibly sultry and sexy. Of all the imagery the author used, those scenes were some of the best.

Ms. Lemmon’s The Billionaire Bachelor is not only entertaining but well written. There’s a lot of emotion, heart, love and optimism written into its pages so when the happy ever after finally came about it was satisfying and left me feeling quite cheerful. When a book leaves me in an upbeat mood in the end, for sure I’ll be recommending it to other romance readers. After all, one can never get too much of the ‘happy’ in a happy ever after.

Billionaire Benjamin Gale III doesn’t believe in love or romance, but the look on his mother’s face when Maggie tells her that she’s his fiancée is worth millions. Instead of firing her for her insubordination, he goes along with the ruse. In his arms-and in his bed-she’d be everything he could ever want…which is why he can’t have her.

But if he doesn’t let her go, they’ll lose everything…

Color me floored when the hero is told to ‘make himself at home’ and he tidies up the heroine’s couch pillows and her shoes, not because he had OCD, but because he felt it was the right thing to do for someone he respected. I don’t know about you but I thought that was really sweet and yet the hero, Benjamin, is far from being sweet, or humorous or even emotional. His cold personality is why he’s called the ‘Beast’, and why he’s an excellent tormented hero. I enjoyed discovering his emotional layers.

Maggie is the perfect foil. She’s everything Benjamin is not. She’s down to earth, doesn’t put on airs, truly cares about people and her emotions are there for anyone to read. She defended Benjamin and took his side when no one had ever done so before. It left Benjamin reeling – is she for real? His finding out is what romance stories are all about. I enjoyed watching his reaction to her and how his feelings change over time.

The hero’s nemesis is completely unreasonable and vicious. Definitely the villain was 100% unlikable. It doesn’t matter to me what the ultimate reason was for such harsh treatment, the author created a despicable character that I loathed and I in no way can condone their actions.

I appreciated the sensual buildup of the physical side of their relationship until the point of ‘the knee’. It was quite hot but kind of amusing too, especially the dialogue that came later. I really liked how the author placed those love scenes, how they were written and what she chose to show me. It was very fun reading.

Beauty and the Boss has an emotional richness and a vibrant romance that’s sure to please. The main characters are engaging and fun to watch as they fall in love. I enjoyed Maggie’s family’s cameo appearance and the sweet and happy scene that stemmed from it. There’s so much to like and enjoy, I am happy recommending Beauty and the Boss to fellow romance readers. It’s a treat.
