Little does she know that magic is hitching a ride on this vacation from hell, courtesy of her friend Nichole who has knit a little pirate-y magic into the sexy monokini bathing suit Stephanie has tucked away in her suitcase.

She may find all the items on her list, but what is she supposed to do about the pirate who sails away with her heart?

Stephanie works twice as hard as anyone else in her office as a contracts lawyer. Five years of long days and no breaks has her pretty tightly wound, though, and when she snaps at a client she’s ordered by her boss to take a holiday. This is how she ended up on a small Caribbean island with no desire to be there. With a list from her boss of relaxing holiday items to do and a promise that the owner of the resort was a personal friend of her boss, Stephanie has no option but to take the stupid holiday and do what she’s told.

I really enjoyed the writing style and pacing of this story. While Stephanie could have come across as sour person or a workaholic pain, the author managed to inject enough humour and characterization into Stephanie that I connected with her almost immediately. She seemed to me not just to be stressed from her high-pressure job, but also in such a rut and so used to working madly that she no longer knew how to switch off and unwind. The list of tasks – and analogue camera requiring proof! – made me laugh and in a very short number of pages I was on board with the whole scheme and plot for the story.

I rather liked Rick’s character too. He was a lovely not-pirate and I was seriously impressed with how much of a gentleman he was especially when it came to Stephanie. While the conflict was rather clichéd, I found the rest of the story surrounding it was fairly novel and fresh to me. This helped me get past the slight frustration of the thankfully quick scene when Rick and Stephanie confronted each other, and allowed me to simply enjoy their holiday fling together. I thought the sex was steamy hot but not outrageous, descriptive but not smutty. Romance readers won’t be disappointed with the ending either, I found it a deliciously Happy Ever After and felt it really finished on a high note.

A fun, warm, lighthearted romance I found this to be a wonderful book. I loved watching Stephanie unwind and her and Rick find their happy ending together. A sexy, summery beach romance that is sure to appeal to many readers.

An interesting paranormal romance with a Greek mythology background.

I’m not sure what I expected when I picked up Taken, but it was nothing like what I found on the pages. Though technically, this takes place on modern day earth, except for saying that’s where Layla lives and has her workshop, we may as well be in a fully fantasy setting. The world-building in this book is pretty complex, and honestly I had some moments of being a little confused. That may be partly due to the fact this is the second book in the series, and it really throws you right in to the action with not a lot of background to begin with. I haven’t read book one, and I do recommend that you do — it’s a good story! Why not start at the start?

The author has a wonderful ability with words, though. The book is complex and detailed and very well constructed and edited. That makes it a joy to read.

Layla was a interesting heroine. I didn’t much like her at first, though. She’s independent to a fault (sometimes a little stupidly), brash, arrogant … but with her bloodline and background, that’s not completely unexpected. Thaull has the patience of Job to deal with her. But deal with her, he does, and quite effectively. I really liked him a lot and could see why he managed to wear down Layla’s protests.

I’m not a big fan of the “fated mates” trope, which does exist here … sort of. Thankfully, the author deals with it in an interesting manner and Thaull is a little subtle about that. He’s not subtle about much else, however, and Layla doesn’t love his bossy manner. At least not at first. She does, however, love his hot self and they definitely indulge in some sexy times. That said, the sex scenes are pretty subtle and occasionally even take place off the page.

So much happens in this book. As is typical with Greek mythology, everyone is getting into the game. it’s a massive chess board and a dozen people are moving the pieces. Sometimes the action happens so abruptly, though, I got a tad bit disoriented. There are lots of characters, lots of settings and lots of subplots that take a bit to sort through. Honestly, though, that just ultimately makes for a better story.

Taken is unique. In a world jam-packed with paranormal romance, this one stands alone.

Eat a stick of butter or return to her hometown? School teacher, Kinsley Bailey, would rather risk the caloric overload. Staunton, Virginia is laced in bad memories of a mentally ill mother, an estranged father, and the first boy who broke her heart. Yet the news of her father’s death has forced her return to the nightmare. Now in the heat of the summer, Kinsley’s left unraveling the mysteries surrounding a house, an antique gun collection, a flabby basset hound, and a safety deposit box that no one in the family wants to discuss.

Yet when a certain auburn-haired blast from the past comes blazing into his shop to sell her dead father’s antique gun collection, he might have to reconsider the tranquil life and take up arms for the one woman he never could forget.

Kinsley Bauley is a 33 year-old school teacher forced to return to her hometown due to the death of her father. Kinsley is full of resentment mostly towards her father, who took off when she was eight and never contacted her again. She also holds some grudges toward Bastian Harris, her childhood best friend and first heartbreak. Now she is back and she will find out some inconvenient truths that should have been told to her a long time ago. Also she will meet Bastian again.

Kinsley is an interesting character; she was working in a corporation and one day she decided to become middle school chemistry teacher. She has a good life, but she still is dreaming about her first love. I had mixed feeling about her during the story. Sometimes I perceived her as a strong and independent woman, and sometimes she acted like silly immature little girl. But in the end she turned just fine.

Bastian Harris is yummy hero. He is cool, he is nice, he has a daughter he loves a lot and he is much more down to earth than Kinsley, although he has his own issues. But his issues are much more real than Kinsley’s. As a couple they are great match; sweet and lovable.

The story is set in a small town and it has all the regular characteristics of stories in this kind of setting i.e. colorful characters, noisy and amusing old ladies and funny animals (in this case a dog).

My biggest issue with All I Ever Wanted is the foundation on which the whole story is built. I find the idea way over the top that Kinsley was thinking about Bastian for so long. I cannot believe that she kept wondering for 20 years why he did not continue a relationship after the kiss they shared when they were both 13 years old. I cannot believe that she was dreaming about him for 20 years, while pursuing her career, making big bucks and having a good life.

If you do not try to analyze backstory too much and take it as it is, All I Ever Wanted is a lovely and funny story.

The book is about haunted souls, both the paranormal ghost variety and live souls/people with pasts that haunt them day and night.

The book is multi-layered with intricate plots, including a ghost and a secondary story dealing with the main characters and how their relationship will turn out. This is initially the main plot until Tyler’s friend makes their presence known. That ghost wasn’t going to be ignored for sure. In a neat twist, that doesn’t give the story away, the ghost is a catalyst to bringing Emily and Brett together.

Emily and Brett have a past. The chemistry, attraction and beginnings of love were there but the timing couldn’t have been worse. Without the paranormal element, this book would be counted among the “secret baby” tropes. When Brett learns that Emily hid his son from him, he’s understandably livid. Emily realizes that she can’t hide from him anymore and he deserves to know his son more.

The story starts from there and the author, held back some… meaning not all was revealed in the beginning and that was a good thing. It kept me on my toes wanting to know more and more and curious as to how and when the author would include the paranormal element. She didn’t disappoint.

The romance and the attraction was there regardless of Brett still being angry with her. The book is a great romance with a hint of mystery regarding the ghost.

With every chapter I read I got to know the characters more and saw their relationship develop as chemistry and passion collided. Perfect combo and an enjoyable read.

“Hello, Ms. Vivian . . . it’s been a long time.”

And with those words, Vivian Leigh Rochet nearly melted. It’s been years since she last saw Harrison Whitley-Shuler. She was a teenager scrubbing houses for a living. He was the gorgeous son of rich parents, not fit for the likes of her.

Vivian had vowed to get out of Charleston, become a big Hollywood star, and stick it to the snooty girls who made her cry.

She got what she wanted—and more—but why does her glamorous life seem so trivial?

Harrison got out too . . . making it all the way to Wall Street, until a heart attack forced him to trade in his cufflinks for a good set of hand tools.

Dreams drove them leave, responsibility and necessity brought them home, but only love can keep them together.

Vivian Rochet left home to follow her dreams. Now an actress, she once worked in the house of one of the privileged rich families in town. She returns to Charleston when her mother dies but never expected when she lost her only family that she might find a new one.

One of the things I absolutely loved about this book was the pieces of the “Dear Diary” pages from Vivian’s past. I loved reading in the viewpoint of a teenager and the teenage problems that arose.

This book is a romantic story of the first order. It’s also about family. The running theme seemed to be what you see may not always be what you get or what is real. Long buried secrets hit the light of day and with it the lives of everyone changes.

Harrison never thought that girl who used to clean his house would return as a bombshell actress.

Neither did Vivian think that the brooding Harrison Whitley-Shuler would ignite fire in her and make her want things she had given up on. The chemistry and the passion was scorching but the love they have for one another is what really showed up.

The beginning was good but it took some time to capture my attention fully. But when it did, the book was finished in under a couple of hours. As secrets are revealed, choices must be made. Vivian and Harrison can’t keep their hands off each other once they give into the combustible chemistry. I was cheering for them to find their HEA right to the very end.

Romance, love, family…and the past. You can never really leave the past behind but love has a way of softening the problems and pain left behind. Readers who enjoy a good “coming home” romance should give this one a read.

It’s up to the people of Hellcat Canyon to help make sure their future includes a happily ever after.

Hot in Hellcat Canyon has all the right ingredients to be a great story. It has an amazing hero and heroine, who are my favorite combination i.e. he is super popular and rich, while she works two jobs – kind of Cinderella story. It’s set in charming small town full of colorful and funny inhabitants. It deals with some pretty serious issues, but it also funny. And along with all of that it features two fictional Hollywood super stars and one of them, Franco Francone, I liked a lot (and he reminds me a lot of James Franco).

The hero of Hot in Hellcat Canyon is John Tennessee McCord, Hollywood superstar that didn’t get a role he was hoping for and his superstar girlfriend dumps him. His car broke down and he finds himself in the small town of Hellcat Canyon. There he meets the amazing Britt Langley waitress/real estate agent, and a town outsider. She came to the town trying to get her life back together after very bad marriage. J.T. and Britt meet in the bar and there is an instant and very hot attraction between them. They both enter this relationship with their own heavy baggage, although Britt’s is a bit heavier and darker. Due to that, and the meddling of one egocentric character, the conflict between two of them is inevitable. Although the conflict was something expected, the author did great job in plotting and resolving it.

Regardless of all above mentioned I had a hard time reading and rating this story. The reason is the pace. It’s slow and it felt like the author focused more on setting the scene for the next novels in the series rather than developing the relationship and settling the differences between JT and Britt. The parts when the two of them are together are amazing, but when they aren’t the story drags a bit. If the story was more focused on J.T. and Britt it would have been much more engaging.

Hot in Hellcat Canyon is a first story in the Hellcat Canyon series, and from this first installment it’s already very obvious to this reader who might be some future couples. Now that the scene is set, and all characters are in place I am looking forward to reading the next story in the series because Julie Anne Long writes amazing romances. Here’s hoping that one story will feature Franco Francone as a hero.

Karma is about a witch, Amanda, and the hunter, Alex, she once had a thing for. When Alex’s brother gets into life threatening trouble they come together to save him.

This is the first book in the series and though the book had a bit of a cliffhanger. Also, the story involves a pedophile so for readers with a trigger for missing children should be aware before picking up this book.

Amanda and Alex are attracted to each other but her being a witch and him a hunter put a no-going-back full stop to the relationship, or so they thought. The book opens with them meeting after having gone separate ways. The sparks were flying off the page. It was easy to see that when they finally give into the sizzle it’s going to be epic! Having said that, it never really gets to the hot point for the reader in this book, maybe the next. As mentioned, this book doesn’t conclude Alex and Amanda’s story so, I have to assume I’ll see them again.

The background info on their relationship was very cleverly integrated into the book without making me forget about the main plot. The author handled the multiple plots very well. It was easy to read and understand. Also, the characters were very detailed and different. Amanda is honest to a fault and Alex is a bit macho but they balance each other well.

Magic, lost love, and new beginnings. Karma is a good start to this new series. It grabbed this reader’s attention and has me anxious to see where the story goes next.

Yet, her four lunatic best friends disagree on that last one. The voices in her head disagree, too, and even her mother seems to think she’s crazy. And sexyass will not take a goddamn no for an answer. Now what exactly is a girl do against that?

This is an interesting and slightly different style of story. I adored the title – that was what originally drew me to this book as I’ve not read anything previously by this author. I was a little intrigued by the heroine’s self-described “five different Londons inside her head” thing – it seemed a bit like the movie Inside Out, only in written form. While I found this certainly highlighted the point of having different desires contradicting themselves as reactions to various things – like simultaneously wanting to whimper in a corner, beat your boss silly and cry like a madwoman – the writing-out of the actual inner monologues really did make London seem slightly odd. I could certainly see the appeal of this unique style of story-telling from London’s perspective, but I was a little disappointed to find that for me, personally, the inner-monologue-arguments actually slowed the pace of the story. I really wanted to enjoy it, a different and fresh perspective on how we sometimes struggle with conflicting desires, but for me – it just ended up feeling odd and jarring to the pace.

Aside from that, I found this to be a charming chick-lit style of book told in the first person. London finally reached the edge of her patience waiting for her co-worker to notice her and on her birthday got completely drunk and had a lovely one night stand. It wasn’t a surprise at all when the mystery one-night-stand man turned out to be London’s new contact for a work contract, Liam Harper. Naturally mayhem ensues after London realizes that she has to work – and closely for an important work contract – with Liam and that he refuses to be relegated as a work-only friend once they reconnect. I found the story generally to be light-hearted, fun and a happy story to read, even if at times I really did want to groan at London acting in very a clichéd manner. I find nowadays my tolerance of heroines who want to stick their head in the sand over their sexual escapades is pretty thin. I find it much sexier – and realistic – for women to own their sexuality. While any character being arrogant or cocky is still a turn off, being confidant and unashamed of one’s sexual desires is so much hotter to my mind than being embarrassed or trying to ignore it and hope it goes away.

London, from the start of the story, was always portrayed as a discerning, picky woman (more power to her!) but I didn’t really understand why she couldn’t embrace a small fling or a steamy affair with Liam. Why make him jump through hoops and put her own desires and pleasures on hold? It made me think less of her and just dragged the story to my mind. Much of that part of the story really felt clichéd and old-fashioned to me, which was a real shame as so much of the rest of the story and especially the other characters felt modern and far more progressive to me.

I found the sex to be fun, descriptive and steamy, but nothing too outrageous. I feel only readers who like their romance behind closed doors will find the details to be too much. I particularly liked London’s best friends: Olivia, Valery, Eden and Ronnie. The group of girls together seemed like an unstoppable force. While it’s clear the other ladies are going to have their own books, there weren’t too many dangling plot-lines which was lovely in a “first of a series” book. Usually the happy ending is cut short with a bunch of plot set-ups for the following books and I was delighted this wasn’t the case here – Liam and London really took centre stage for most of the story and that was just perfect.

Readers looking for a fun, lighthearted and witty read should definitely enjoy this book. Even with the niggles I really enjoyed it and plan to keep an eye out for the following books in the series.

I’ve never read a Molly Ringle book before and I’m glad I rectified it. I’ll certainly go back and read the others in this series. The writing was crisp, sharp and kept me on my toes. I had to know what was going to happen next. Ms Ringle writes characters that are well-rounded and likable, even when they’re going through some serious emotional crisises.

I liked how the author moved between the present and the past, showing the different sides of the characters. While it was interesting, sometimes I did get confused. I had to reread a few times to make sure I understood what was going on and who did what. There were a lot of characters and a lot happening.

That said, I was immersed in their world and enjoyed reading about these immortals. If you want a book that will challenge, excite and enthrall you, then this might be the book for you. There’s a whole lot going on and it’s overwhelming, but very cool.

But once his new travel companion washes the mud from her surprisingly lovely face, and they share a breathtaking kiss, there is no turning back.

This is a must read especially for those readers who enjoyed the Duke of Sin because this novella answers the question, ‘did Hippolyta Royle actually escape?’

In this case, she went from the fat to the fire. This is a fun story because no one believes she is who she says she is, and the man who finds her doesn’t let her know who he is either. So, they both end up falling in love with who they thought they were. The conflict then switches to dealing with their shock in discovering who they really are and how they feel about it.

I adored the introduction of Tommy Teacup and the mad cap Lady Whimple and her wicked enjoyment of scandals. I also liked the additional conflict of reintroducing a damaging secret from Duke of Sin and seeing it resolved quite cleverly in Once Upon a Moonlit Night. I was very proud of both Hippolyta and Matthew.

There’s romance, seduction, fascinating dialogue and a lovely and perfect happy ever after in store for readers of this endearing novella. It’s a fast read, it’s entertaining and I enjoyed every moment. Even if a reader hasn’t had a chance to read the previous book that this novella is spun from, it’s a tale that can stand on its own. Once Upon a Moonlit Night is a treat to read and I heartily recommend it.
