What follows is a series of disturbing events, unworldly happenings. R. L. Jackson does a great job creating a mystical setting and paranormal characters. Readers will really feel the eeriness of it all and shudder when Savannah does.

It’s exceptional to read about how Savannah comes into her own and finds her courage because she is driven by love—really inspiring. When Marshall disappears, she must risk everything to find him. Luckily, she has help from surprising sources. The ticking clock feeling of the story, more supernatural beings, and the unusual town of Bulwark with its own magic are effective in creating a dark and dangerous mood.

The end of the story is unpredictable. There are some open-ended plot lines. Readers of vampire stories with resilient and inspirational female leads will probably like this book, especially if they don’t mind an unsettled finale. A sequel could be written.

The things that make the hero happy are his brothers, running his club, being a volunteer firefighter and helping to take care of Theo, his Captain’s son. Their lovemaking is hot and their conversations intelligent but their relationship is not exactly smooth. They both have difficult histories to get past. Complicating things further, there is a subplot about a missing brother compounded by some not so great decisions on Nik’s part. The secondary characters, Allison and Theo, are also important to the story. Ultimately, it’s Allison who steps up to calm the troubled waters.

I loved the plot and the characters. It showed me that trust is one of the most important things in a relationship and talking things out before things get too bad is important. Nik is stubborn and confident in himself, but he carries a ton of guilt with him. On top of that pain is the trauma of being jilted by his childhood sweetheart. I could feel his sorrow when he realized a difficult truth. A very poignant scene that affected me was what Nik and his brothers do to honor their missing brother when they get together for drinks.

Misunderstandings and suspicions are all over the place and cause a lot of issues for the heroine; an especially easy thing to do with a manipulative secondary character who has designs on the hero. Nik has trust issues too and the author clearly shows his insecurity and how it contributes to my wondering if there would be a happy ending.

The Greek’s Bedroom Bargain teaches about forgiveness and to live life in the present and not the past. I enjoyed reading this and recommend it to other readers.

I adored this book. Every chapter, every page, even the epilogue was perfect. This was the most uplifting, romantic and heartwarming novel I’ve read in a long while. The plot revolves around Sophie and Harrison but the character that stole the show was Bubbles, the support dog. You have no idea how emotional I got while reading this story. It was spectacularly believable, cheery and joyful, with a wonderful sense of humor. I felt like I was getting a book hug.

If a reader is fed up with all the dark drama in the real world then escape to a place where miracles happen – between the pages of Puppy Love. Harrison is a bit of a grouch and he has a few reasons to be that way. He’s solidly made of hero material because he cares, he can be counted on and he’s really a protector – although if you told him all these things he wouldn’t believe you. He thinks he’s broken and in some aspects he is, especially after he suffered a serious medical condition and his mom abandoned him when he was just a kid. That’s one of the reasons I liked him so much. Harrison’s sad past made him the unsocial guy everyone respects but won’t approach making him a hero in need of healing. The hero is worth saving and I was cheering for him.

Sophie has her own past burdens to carry and they’re significant. The difference of having family support and love during trying times is made very clear – the heroine ended up well-adjusted, determined, happy and somehow can lighten the mood and bring sunshine where there is grumbly thunder. She was the light in Harrison’s internal dark fortress. I loved her sense of humor and her extreme patience when dealing with her recalcitrant hero. Best of all, she was great with puppies.

Bubbles is the best dog ever. The funniest dialogue occurs early in the book when Harrison experiences Sophie, and meets the puppy, for the first time. The names the heroine comes up with to describe Bubbles were hysterical. In fact, even before the first chapter was done, I’d already laughed out loud quite a bit, I know had a grin plastered on my face. I truly had a feeling I was in for a very fun time right from the get-go. I was not wrong. The heroic little puffball was able to do what no human could do, reach Harrison’s heart and the soft side of the hardened man.

When I mention fun dialogue, I mean it’s hilarious. The names she comes up with to describe Harrison’s male attribute were comical and amusing, not to mention incredibly inventive. I let out a loud guffaw at the scene were Sleeping Beauty is referenced. The banter between Sophie and Harrison turned out to be the gem of the novel due to its strength, naturalness and sheer irreverent fun. Their attraction to each other caused sparks to fly. They pretty much seduced each other and though it initially was subtle, once passion flared they explored it to the max. What amazed me was that every encounter showed progression of their relationship and expressed their growing love in tangible ways. It was awesome.

There is a lot more I can say about this book but a) it would be too long and b) I’d be sorely tempted to unleash a few spoilers. I didn’t get to mention that the book is populated with awesome secondary characters. Also there is the theme of forgiveness. When a person forgives and reaches out, the gains and benefits are extraordinary and good things start to happen. Happiness can happen.

Run, don’t walk, to get your own copy of Puppy Love. It’s worth every minute reading. It’s worth staying up until 1 a.m. just to finish it. It’s worth falling in love. Ms. Gilmore has written an awesome novel!

What exactly makes them different from humans? How were the aliens able to adapt so well to Earth? I also want to know more about the animals they shift into. It seems that the animals they can shift into are not restricted by familial ties. I’d love to know how their body determines which animals they can become.

I must say I found the relationship between Malcolm and Elsie to be problematic. While there is an instant physical attraction between them, there is nothing else to anchor the relationship. Malcolm immediately discards the idea that Elsie could be his mate because he’s never heard of his kind mating with humans. While I understand that Malcolm has a lot on his plate, I would have thought that such a powerful reaction to a woman would have made him think twice or at least seek out more information. They barely spend any time together, and when they do, Malcolm treats Elsie atrociously. He’s possessive, demanding, and rude. He alternates between seeking her out and pushing her away. I don’t find any of this behavior attractive. I also feel their happy ending is very abrupt. So much time is spent agonizing over the nature of their relationship, and Elsie is kept in the dark about Malcolm’s true nature for the majority of the book that it just seems unrealistic for them to reach their happy ending so quickly after Elsie discovers the truth.

Despite my issue with the romance, I think the story is well paced, and I genuinely wanted to know who the murderer was. I enjoyed learning tidbits about the shape shifters, and I also liked seeing Malcolm cooperate with another clan. From what I gather, clans working together is rare. I hope this is the beginning of more open communications between the clans.

I think Bloodlines is a good read. While the Malcolm and Elsie’s relationship might not be for everyone, I did find the world of the shape shifters intriguing and worth exploring.

The style is clear and to the point, but it creates good imagery, enabling one to picture the setting. Emotions come through well and make the characters all that more interesting.

This is a cute tale that is easy to read. I recommend it as a good start to the series about an intriguing town.

I found a fun treasure in my TBR pile. The best thing about discovering the Jaguar Warrior series is that there are three books already published so I can binge read. After reading His Darkest Hunger I was left with a craving to find out what happens next to Jaxon’s brothers. The last chapter left me with a hook and a good idea as to who was going to fall in love next. I’m intending to buy the other two so I can find out.

Ms. Stone wasted no time in immersing me into the action between Jaxon and Libby. At first I thought they were enemies, but the plot is far more intricate and devious than what first appears. Complications pile on top of each other and the twists and turns culminate in harrowing escapes, rescues missions that don’t seem to work out, and an evil force that only presents itself in the final few chapters. Throughout all of that chaos is the romance between Libby and Jaxon. Their passion isn’t a pale thing but a seething cauldron filled with emotions so powerful they can’t help but be together, even when they’re not sure in their trust for each other. Their relationship is definitely a work in progress.

I enjoyed my reading experience, no question about that. I did have a few issues, like when the pace dragged at times, the repetition about Jaxon’s inner jaguar and the difficulty he has with his jaguar, and how easily he seems to fly off of the handle when he’s supposed to be this hotshot, in-charge anti-terrorist warrior. The balance was a bit off kilter. The sex scenes were well written and readers who enjoy every juicy tidbit, in detail, with pages worth of description, will be eminently pleased. I found the story and plot strong enough to skim those parts and never miss a beat. It’s the suspense, romance, explosive action, complications and plot twists that kept my fascinated gaze glued to the pages.

Secondary characters had strong supporting roles in addition to Jaxon’s brothers. Declan in particular stood out. Readers will find out why when they get to the cave. That was an ‘Oooooh’ moment.

Like I said, this was a fun read and I enjoyed spending time with Jaxon and Libby and learning about the ultimate plot thread that I’m sure is going to be woven into the next two books in the series. That kind of evil just can’t be vanquished in only one book. If readers haven’t discovered Ms. Stone’s Jaguar Warrior series yet, then I recommend giving His Darkest Hunger a whirl. I’m especially determined to read the other two after reading the review of the third book, here. Talk about incentive!

I can’t think of a better way to pass a rainy Sunday than reading a good book. I always like to have a book on hand for such an occasion. Seventeen Days didn’t disappoint. It’s not often I get uninterrupted time to do just what I love best, to dive into a story and stay there. The best part of my day was when a severe thunderstorm passed through and at that very moment, I was at a suspenseful part in the story. You can imagine how the combination of the two made me come alive with adrenaline, but I never put the book down. It was too exciting!

From the first page I was drawn into the story as Jenna, the heroine, was exploring the house she inherited from her grandfather. There were several well developed characters introduced throughout the story. I loved the setting of a quiet California fishing village. It was the perfect backdrop for gossip, rumors and murder. Seventeen Days consisted of all the ingredients needed to create a fast paced story with unexpected plot twists.

I felt the chemistry between the hero, Rick, and Jenna even though he was reserved. Rick had his reasons to be cautious especially after what happened to him three years ago. It was sweet how his son and Jenna connected over her drawings. Jenna was easy to like. It was only a matter of time before they realized they had a future together.

I need to mention how much I absolutely loved that the author, Linda Griffin, chose to end the story with an “Afterword”. That was better than an epilogue, and everyone knows how much I adore epilogues. I just loved that wrap up. Seriously, this book deserves the opportunity to be read. I recommend it.

Heart-warming, heart-rending and amazingly well written, By the Light of Embers is a book I recommend whole-heartedly to any lover of fiction, regardless of the genre you typically read. Trust me, this book was outside of my comfort zone for a variety of reasons but I was completely intrigued by the blurb, so just had to check it out, even knowing it likely wasn’t going to end well (or at least not in the way I wanted it to end).

The author, Shaylin Gandhi, is remarkably talented. Her prose is beautiful, descriptive, and not one word is ever wasted.  The story is believable and interesting, peppered with authentic historical facts brought alive by characters we really care about.  I really came to care deeply about Lucia, Nicholas and also Sebastian.  The other secondary characters we just as real and well written, but it was those three who mattered most to me.

It’s easy to forget that the Civil Rights Act wasn’t signed into law that long ago.  I had to keep reminding myself we were in the 1950s, not the 1850s because of the attitudes of the people in the book.  Women’s rights, too, were really in their infancy and having such a modern-minded woman like Lucia was enlightening.

I don’t want to talk too much about the story.  Even small tidbits might give away spoilers and that wouldn’t be fair to you as a reader.  I will say this, though, do yourself a favor and read this book.  I don’t think you’ll regret one moment of it.

This is a must read book! I just finished reading Desert Rose and the first word that comes to my mind is: original. It’s not quite like any other book that I’ve read. The best way for me to explain that statement is to share this: while I was reading it, I felt there was an “air of nonfiction” or, for lack of a better word, “truth”, involved. I felt the author didn’t just do research about Russian culture, fossil hunting, vintage clothing or classical music, but perhaps actually had life experiences herself to be able to write such a vivid descriptive story. J. Arlene Culiner brought the book to life. At the end of the story there is an “About the Author” and it all made sense. She has lived a fascinating life. It come through in her writing style by giving it an element of experience. I was fascinated to read about those subjects through the hero and heroine’s perspectives.

This story is a romance of second chances. I’m excited that it’s book one in the Romance in Blake’s Folly series. I am looking forward to returning to Blake’s Folly, Nevada to be reunited with the cast of characters that I’ve grown to love in Desert Rose.

I would love for Rose, the heroine, and Jonah, the hero, to have a guest appearance in book two. I don’t feel like I got enough of them. There was so much build up and worry about each other having unrequited love that the culmination was immensely satisfying but made for a quick ending.

It was hard not to fall in love with Jonah. He was a sweet hero who deserved a happy ever after. It took awhile for Rose to grow on me because she was always surrounded by a group of male admirers. However, now I can’t wait to read about these male admirers who I hope will be in the future Blake’s Folly series.

I really enjoyed this story. I didn’t want to put it down and when I had to, I found it easy to pick up where I left off and resume reading without skipping a beat. It was refreshing to read an original plot that was written in a unique setting with memorable characters. It was definitely worth my time to read and I easily recommend it to others.

Although Africa isn’t what Margaret expected, she isn’t one to shrink from a challenge. Understandably, she has moments when she breaks down and questions her decision to make such a bold move, but this serves to make her a more realistic and relatable character. She’s a very strong and courageous woman.

As unprepared as Margaret was for Africa, she is even more surprised by Lyon and her feelings for him. Initially, Margaret and Lyon struck me as an odd couple. They come from very different backgrounds. Margaret and Lyon definitely have a strong physical attraction to each other, but I never got the feeling they were really comfortable around each other. They gradually grow to respect each other, and become friends, but I always felt like they were tiptoeing around each other. They weren’t comfortable sharing their pasts at first, which I understand as they have both suffered tragedies. However, once they decided to take their relationship to the next level, things progressed very quickly and Margaret still hadn’t divulged some very pertinent information to Lyon. I really feel something that important should have been discussed before they moved forward. Despite this issue, I do think that Margaret and Lyon have potential to be a great couple. With their strong personalities and chemistry, their lives will certainly be exciting!

Taming the Lyon is an entertaining read, and I enjoyed following Margaret and Lyon on their adventure. Fans of historical romance and happy endings would do well to pick up a copy.
