TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT, COWBOY…

A Weary warrior… After eight years as a Marine sniper, war-scarred Reid Everett is back in his native Wyoming. He knows and loves this rugged land, so working for wildlife services to reduce the booming wolf population suits him to a T.

A Caring crusader… Wildlife biologist Haley Cooper is desperate to make a difference. Leaving the world of academia behind, she accepts a position as a wolf advocate to protect the animals she loves.

Raw attraction… Their jobs set them on a collision course, but chemistry sparks like wildfire between Reid and Haley. They’ll have to brave some rough territory if they hope to reconcile their polarizing views with a passion that won’t be denied.

Reid Everett is a marine sniper, about to be deployed. While all his mates go out for a bit of fun for the last time in the foreseeable future, Reid is still licking his wounds from a Dear John text months earlier. Hayley has been studying hard and has work lined up over summer, so she can’t deny her friend Yolanda when she gets dragged out to a country bar for a night of fun. Reid is the first man in ages to ping her radar, but interest is quickly turned to annoyance when she finds out he’s a Marine. One night stands and flighty men who ditch their women on a whim is not her style. But Reid surprises her when he comes to her rescue, and Hayley will need to understand Reid doesn’t conform to many of the labels she automatically places upon him.

This is a spicy and fun romance story. Hayley is not one to pull verbal punches and I thought she certainly put Reid through his paces, especially in the beginning. Having an absent father in the Army has soured Hayley for much of military life, and being against the war in the first place means she has some very strongly negative views on all things Army. While her dislike certainly caused some simmering tension between Hayley and Reid, I found especially in the start of the book her prejudice soured me on Hayley’s character a little. Her antagonism toward Reid was right on my personal knife edge between being rude and having a backbone and willingness to express her views. Many readers might feel differently, but Hayley’s caustic words meant it took me a while to warm up to her character.

Army correspondence style romances aren’t new, but I liked the fresh email take this story has. Letters don’t need to be long, meandering and tug at the heart strings. I like the short, feisty and snappy conversations that can go on between people with this faster mode of communication. I also enjoyed reading about various pictures Reid could attach to his letters. But some things never go out of style – getting to know someone via this style of communication is slower, but yet still somehow deeper than many face-to-face versions.

There were a few clichéd plot devices, but for the most part I really enjoyed meeting both Reid’s and Hayley’s families. There is a whole host of characters – along with the obligatory, sexy ex-girlfriend – and I felt these interesting people really helped create a great backdrop to the romantic story.

Overall I found this to be a spirited, heartwarming story. Hayley is a crusader, full of strong ideals about saving the world from war and the environment, rescuing wildlife and so forth and Reid is a strong, quiet man who is also saving the world the best way he knows how, through the Army. They’re two fundamentally different people who still find themselves drawn to each other – no matter how strongly Hayley might deny it. I think that readers wanting a quick fix for their steamy romance might find the pace of this story – and the character conflicts – a bit slow-going, but those who love a slow build up and the characters really working for their Happily Ever After should be really pleased with the passion and chemistry between Reid and Hayley.

He’d defend her keep…

After proving himself on the field of battle, Ramon de Segrave is appointed to the Council of Barons by Richard the Lionheart. But instead of taking his most formidable warrior on his latest Crusade, the king assigns Ramon an even more dangerous task—woo and win the Lady of Thistle Keep.

But when her land is threatened, Isabel reluctantly agrees to allow Ramon and his army to defend the keep—knowing that the price may very well be her heart.

Both the Hero and the Heroine have been dealt a bad hand in the field of love.  The road to a fulfilled love life is not easy for them.

I love Historical Romance and this one has been set in the times of King Richard, the Lionheart. This is my first foray into this particular time period therefore I may not be the perfect one to say that the Historical aspect of the story was well written, but it seemed so.

Ramon is a newly appointed Baron. He’s sent by his King to not only woo the lady of Thistle keep but also protect her land from invaders. However, the lady of Thistle, after the death of her husband, has been taking care of her people alone and is completely against trusting the baron for the protection of the keep.

Isabel, the lady of Thistle keep is an independent and intelligent woman however, with her bad marriage it has become difficult for her to trust in men again but Ramon will not accept no for an answer.

The story line was simple, though the emotions weren’t. Miss Wine did a wonderful job in developing the story but it felt like it lacked consistency in some aspects. For example, Isabel’s stubbornness in not trusting Ramon and being adamant that both of them don’t have any relationship or passion for each other. They are attracted to each other, which Isabel couldn’t ignore for long but she did try. “The lady doth protest too much” would be fitting for Isabel’s attitude. Thankfully, Ramon was able to convince her otherwise.

Putting that aside, this historical novel was filled with passion and history. The ending was well written with twists and turns that kept me reading and looking forward to their HEA.

Victoria Roberts, once again, gives the reader a vicarious adventure with rowdy, rugged Highlanders and this time she ups-the-ante with four strong-minded English sisters that disrupt Sutherland Castle to the limit.

The ex-spy for the Crown, Ravenna Walsingham married Ruairi Sutherland, head of the clan. Her sisters, nine-year-old Kat and fifteen-year-old Elizabeth have come to live at Sutherland Castle. Kat has twelve-year-old Torquil running for cover and Elizabeth is eyeing the much-older neighbor, Lord Ian Munro, who is horrified at the very thought of an English girl.

Then there’s nineteen-year-old Lady Grace Walsingham, with her sharp tongue and prim English lady ways, who’s just there for her sister’s wedding and to be sure her two younger sister are well settled and happy before she returns to England to marry her betrothed, Lord Daniel Casterbrook.

Her new brother-in-law Ruairi’s Captain of the Guard, Fagan, a kinsman, sets Grace in a temper with his totally inappropriate attitude toward her. Her uppity ways sets him to calling her “Princess Grace” as he undermines her disdain for the “barbarian Highlanders.” Their verbal warring, as sexual tension builds, creates can’t-put-it-down reading. Ah, there’s a toe-curling kiss that both declare is not going to happen again. Oh, but it does. What a spellbinding adventure the reader gets to share as Fagan and men of his Guard set out to deliver Grace back to England and to her betrothed.

The story takes a couple of twists as they travel that are shocking and adrenaline-pumping, one of them totally unexpected.

With smooth, lyrical prose, Victoria Roberts creates a delightful, delicious love story that is blended with political intrigue, savagery, the beauty of Scotland, and diverse customs of the English and Scottish people. CAPTIVATING READING!

5_7 jill mansell book coverInternational bestseller Jill Mansell delivers a hilarious and heartwarming tale about falling in love when you have opinionated kids

Love is a complicated thing…
Lottie Carlyle is happy enough. Living in a beautiful cottage with her two adorable—sometimes—kids in an idyllic village, on good terms with her ex-husband, and with friends all around, everything is going just fine. But when she meets her new boss, her peaceful world is thrown into delightful, exciting, and frustrating chaos. Tyler is perfect for Lottie, but her kids do not agree. To make matters worse, the handsome and mysterious Seb appears on the scene, intriguing—and distracting—Lottie and charming her children, making it more and more difficult for her to make up her mind…

Enjoy an excerpt:

The lane that ran alongside the garden of Hestacombe House was narrow and banked high on both sides with poppies, cow parsley, and blackberry bushes. Turning left, Tyler Klein worked out, would lead you back up to the village of Hestacombe. Turning right took you down to the lake. As he took the right turn, Tyler heard the sound of running feet and giggling.

Rounding the first bend in the lane, he saw two small children twenty or thirty yards away, clambering over a stile. Dressed in shorts, T–shirts, and baseball caps, the one in front was carrying a rolled–up yellow-and-white-striped striped towel, while his companion clutched a haphazard bundle of clothes. Glancing up the lane and spotting Tyler, they giggled again and leaped down from the stile into the cornfield beyond. By the time he reached the stile they’d scurried out of sight, no doubt having taken some shortcut back to the village following their dip in the lake.

The lane opened out into a sandy clearing that sloped down to meet a small artificial beach. Freddie Masterson had had this constructed several years ago, chiefly for the benefit of visitors to his lakeside vacation cottages, but also—-as Tyler had just witnessed—-to be enjoyed by the inhabitants of Hestacombe. Shielding his eyes from the glare of the afternoon sun as it bounced off the lake, Tyler saw a girl in a bright turquoise bikini floating lazily on her back in the water. There was a faint unearthly wailing sound coming from somewhere he couldn’t quite place. Then the noise—-was it singing?—-stopped. Moments later, as Tyler watched, the girl turned onto her front and began to swim slowly back to shore.

It could almost be that scene from Dr. No, where Sean Connery observes Ursula Andress emerging goddess–like from a tropical sea. Except he wasn’t hiding in the bushes and he had all his own hair. And this girl didn’t have a large knife strapped to her thigh.

She wasn’t blond either. Her long dark hair was a riot of snaky curls plastered to her shoulders, her body curvy and deeply tanned. Impressed—-because an encounter like this was the last thing he’d been expecting—-Tyler nodded in a friendly fashion as she paused to wring water from her dripping hair and said, “Good swim?”

The girl surveyed him steadily, then looked around the tiny beach. Finally she said, “Where’s my stuff?”

Stuff. Taken aback, Tyler gazed around too, even though he had no idea what he was meant to be looking for. For one bizarre moment he wondered if she had arranged to meet a drug dealer here. That was what people said, wasn’t it, when they met up with their dealer?

“What stuff?”

“The usual stuff you leave out of the water when you go for a swim. Clothes. Towel. Diamond earrings.”

Tyler said, “Where did you put them?”

“Right there where you’re standing. Right there,” the girl repeated, pointing at his polished black shoes. She narrowed her eyes at him.

“Is this a joke?”

“I guess it is. But I’m not the one playing it.” Half turning, Tyler indicated the narrow lane behind him. “I passed a couple kids back there, carrying off stuff.”

She had her hands on her hips now, and was surveying him with growing disbelief. “And it didn’t occur to you to stop them?”

“I thought it was their stuff.” This was ridiculous, he’d never said the word stuff so many times before in his life. “I guess I just thought they’d been swimming down here in this lake.”

“You thought the size ten pink halter–necked dress and size seven silver sandals belonged to them.” The sarcasm—-that particularly British form of sarcasm—-was evident in her voice.

“The sandals were wrapped up in something pink. I didn’t actually get a close look at the labels. I was thirty yards away.”

“But you thought they’d been swimming.” Gazing at him intently, the girl said, “Tell me something. Were they…wet?”

Shit. The kids hadn’t been wet. He’d make a lousy private eye. Unwilling to concede defeat, Tyler said, “They could have come down for a paddle. Look, did you really leave diamond earrings with your clothes?”

“Do I look completely stupid? No, of course I didn’t. Diamonds don’t dissolve in water.” Impatiently she shook back her hair to show him the studs glittering in her earlobes. “Right, what did these kids look like?”

“Like kids. I don’t know.” Tyler shrugged. “They were wearing T–shirts, I guess. And, um, shorts…”

The girl raised her eyebrows. “That’s incredible. Your powers of observation are dazzling. OK, was it a boy and a girl?”

“Maybe.” He’d assumed they were boys, but one had had longer hair than the other. “Like I said, I only saw them from a distance. They were climbing over a stile.”

“Dark hair? Thin and wiry?” the girl persisted. “Did they look like a couple of gypsies?”

“Yes.” Tyler was instantly on the alert; when Freddie Masterson had been singing the praises of Hestacombe he hadn’t mentioned any gypsies. “Are they a problem around here?”

“Damn right they’re a problem around here. They’re my children.” Intercepting the look of horror on his face, the girl broke into a mischievous smile. “Relax, they’re not really gypsies. You haven’t just mortally offended me.”

“Well,” said Tyler, “I’m glad about that.”

“I didn’t see a thing, little sods. They must have crawled through the bushes and sneaked off with my stuff when I wasn’t looking. That’s what happens when you have kids who are hell–bent on joining the SAS. But this isn’t funny.” No longer amused, the girl said impatiently, “I can’t believe they’d do something so stupid. They don’t think, do they? Because now I’m stuck here with no clothes—-”

“You’re welcome to borrow my jacket.”

“And no shoes.”

“I’m not lending you my shoes,” Tyler drawled. “You’d look ridiculous. Plus, that’d leave me with nothing to put on my feet.”

“Wuss.” Thinking hard, the girl said, “OK, look, can you do me a favor? Go back up to the village, past the pub, and my house is three doors down on the right. Piper’s Cottage. The doorbell’s broken so you’ll have to bang on the door. Tell Ruby and Nat to give you my clothes. Then you can bring them back down to me. How does that sound?”

Water from her hair was dripping into her clear hazel eyes, glistening on her tanned skin. She had excellent white teeth and a persuasive manner. Tyler frowned.

“What if the kids aren’t there?”

“Right, now I know this isn’t ideal, but you have an honest face so I’m going to have to trust you. If they aren’t there, you’ll just have to take the front door key out from under the tub of geraniums by the porch and let yourself into the house. My bedroom’s on the left at the top of the stairs. Just grab something from the wardrobe.” Her mouth twitching, the girl said, “And no snooping in my panty drawer while you’re there. Just pick out a dress and some shoes then let yourself out of the house. You can be back here in ten minutes.”

“I can’t do this.” Tyler shook his head. “You don’t even know me. I’m not going to let myself into a strange house. And if your kids are there…well, that’s even worse.”

“Hi.” Seizing his hand, she enthusiastically shook it. “I’m Lottie Carlyle. There, now I’ve introduced myself. And my house really isn’t that strange. A bit untidy perhaps, but that’s allowed. And you are?”

“Tyler. Tyler Klein. Still not doing it.”

“Well, you’re a big help. I’m going to look like an idiot walking through the village like this.”

“I told you, you can borrow my jacket.” Seeing as she was dripping wet and his suit jacket was silk–lined and seriously expensive, he felt this was a pretty generous offer. Lottie Carlyle, however, seemed unimpressed.

“I’d still look stupid. You could lend me your shirt,” she wheedled. “That’d be better.”

Tyler was here on business. He had no intention of removing his shirt. Firmly he said, “I don’t think so. It’s the jacket or nothing.”

Realizing when she was beaten, Lottie Carlyle took the jacket from him and put it on. “You drive a hard bargain. There, do I look completely ridiculous?”

“Yes.”

“You’re too kind.” She looked sadly down at her bare feet. “Any chance of a piggy back?”

Tyler looked amused. “Don’t push your luck.”

“Are you saying I’m fat?”

“I’m thinking of my street cred.”

Interested, Lottie said, “What are you doing here, anyway? In your smart city suit and shiny shoes?”

There clearly wasn’t much call for city suits here in Hestacombe. As they turned to leave, Tyler glanced back at the lake, where iridescent dragonflies were darting over the surface of the water and a family of ducks had just swum into view. Casually he said,

“Just visiting.”

Gingerly picking her way along the stony, uneven lane, Lottie winced and said meaningfully, “Ouch, my feet.”

She has learned the hard way that men are not to be trusted, especially the handsome ones. When she reluctantly accepts, Noah rushes Thea to the altar before she can reveal her deepest secret. Can she finally move on from her past, or will it come back to haunt her?

Noah Winters, the Duke of Anselm, needs a wife. It’s time to fulfill his ducal duty and produce the required heir. Being the sensible gentleman that he is, he prepares a list of candidates, then culls the list down to one, and proceeds to court her.

After a few weeks, Noah learns that his potential bride is about to become engaged to a mere baron. Rather than being heartbroken, Noah is just annoyed at the time he’s wasted. Her companion, Araminthea (Thea) Collins should fill the bill nicely. She’s an earl’s daughter, sensible, attractive, and surely will jump at the chance to be a duchess. NOT!

Thea is content with her life as a paid companion. While she must give serious consideration to the duke’s proposal, she can’t see any great advantage in accepting. That is, until the duke agrees to let Thea’s younger sister live with them, and be launched into society. This proves too much of an inducement, so Thea accepts. But, still, there is something she needs to tell Noah before the marriage, a secret that he has to know. Fate seems to be plotting against her, and Thea can’t find an opportunity to talk to Noah alone. Before she knows it, she is married, and she’s facing her new husband on their wedding night. The circumstances that Thea wanted Noah to know about before the wedding are now revealed, and Noah feels betrayed. He makes the decision that they will have to wait for any sexual intimacy, and he will decide whether to put Thea aside or stay married.

I felt for Thea, as we learn later that she was truly a victim. She’s a kind person, who took her job seriously and didn’t bemoan her fate. I do think she should have insisted on finding a moment alone with Noah before their marriage, but can’t we all relate to putting off an uncomfortable situation? After the marriage, she did her best to be the kind of duchess Noah needed, while she waited to see what her fate would be. Noah describes himself as not a nice person, but I have to disagree. While he did make a few cutting remarks at first, he came around to treating Thea as his wife, giving her every courtesy. Soon, the two are growing closer, and coming to like each other very much. They begin touching each other, even sleeping together, but not sexually. Before the issue of the marriage is resolved, it turns out that Noah has a secret of his own, something major that he should have told Thea before the wedding. As Thea steps up, and takes this in stride, my admiration for her only grew.

Finally, they come together as husband and wife. Their amazing chemistry draws them closer together, not only in the bedroom, but in all facets of their life. As it looks like their happy ever after is assured, the past intrudes, and it hits close to home. Noah and Thea are going to have to be strong and remain united in facing new threats and past demons. Grace Burrowes excels in her character development, and her ability to turn the ordinary into something intimate and special. Sharing a cup of tea, or a meal becomes so much more. One scene in particular had the tears flowing. This book is warm, touching, emotional, sexy, and had me staying up reading into the wee hours. Most highly recommended

The aspiring physician was robbing graves to pursue her studies—and he might turn out to be her greatest subject yet. So they form a bargain: one kiss for every experiment. As their passion grows and Rafe begins to heal, only one question remains: can Cassandra see the man beyond the monster?

I’ve been waiting for Rafe’s story and I was not disappointed. This book was fun!

I enjoyed her determination, spunk and sass. I got a kick out of her refusal to be cowed and her fascination about vampires, once she’s accepted that they’re real, and everything else that may or may not come along from the knowing. If anything thwarted her, she didn’t let it block her for long. Her uniqueness is what drew me but her personality kept me. I can see why she drove Rafe, the hero, nuts.

In the previous books, Rafe was very gruff, standoffish, opinionated and a man of few words. I wasn’t sure how in the world Ms. Ann was going to present him as a believable hero, but she did it. He never let his disability slow him down but it did affect his emotions and how he approached things in his life, like his romantic entanglements. The author garnered sympathy and interest from me for her hero and it all worked out.

I think the only thing that rang a sour note in the book was Rafe’s cluelessness about the villain. It’s mentioned he was suspicious, but he was So observant and sneaky and effective in the preceding book. His strength of character seemed a bit diluted in this one. Then again, he wasn’t in love, or fighting falling in love, in the other story either. Perhaps that explains it?

This is the third book in the series and as is true for the second, it’s true for Bite at First Sight – this is a standalone read. It’s easy to enjoy even if this tale is being read out of sequence. The author kept the story focused on Rafe and Cassandra, so a reader shouldn’t get lost. Some references are made to other characters from past books but they don’t play any significant roles except token appearances after all is said and done. However, there is a very believable and solid hook presented in this novel that truly has me wondering. I’m thinking they’ll be a good match based on their first meeting but how is the author going to navigate the emotional landmines laid down in this book for the next? I can’t wait to find out.

I enjoyed it when Cassandra and Rafe finally do get to explore the physical sides of their natures. It was especially entertaining when the heroine figured out what the fuss was all about. Her enthusiasm is delightful and very much appreciated by the hero.

Of course, there is suspense and drama injected into the romance by a very twisted, jealous and unprincipled vampire. Just when I thought the villain was going to get away with his plot, the author pleased me with her course of action. I’m glad everything turned out okay for the doctors. The scenes were tremendously well written and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Bite at First Sight is a great addition to the series and is a story easy to recommend to other paranormal romance fans. This novel is fun, addictive and wickedly entertaining. I couldn’t ask for a better happy ever after for Cassandra and Rafe – it was perfect for their characters and positions in life – or unlife. Ms. Ann certainly has a fan in me.

Cyrus Ryland didn’t become England’s wealthiest bachelor by being a pushover, but the mysterious beauty he discovers sneaking around at his grand ball enflames his curiosity. When the clock chimes midnight, and she’s nowhere to be found, Cyrus vows to scour all of London to uncover who she is. Little does he know that not only does Claire Mayhew not want to be found, but she wants nothing to do with him at all…

Gina Conkle creates a captivating “Cinderella” story with a twist that is set in late eighteenth century England.

The Lady Meets Her Match sparkles with humor, entices with conversational innuendos, intrigues with undercurrents of evil, and tantalizes with sizzling foreplay and love scenes.

Claire Mayhew and Cyrus Ryland’s first meeting is in semi-darkness where they sit close together and talk as equals. Emotions awaken that neither of them have experienced before. But Claire and Cyrus are at cross purposes, so Claire runs and Cyrus has Bow Street Runners searching for her.

At age sixteen, Cyrus Ryland failed as a farmer and as a provider for his widowed mother and orphaned siblings. But, with his innate entrepreneurial acumen and hard labor, he becomes one of the wealthiest men in England and is known as King of Commerce. However, when he does not kowtow to the wishes of some noblemen, he finds himself and those he loves in danger of losing all they have gained in a society that still holds the rights of nobility sacrosanct.

Gina Conkle weaves together social, financial, and personal issues of that historical time, creating a story that keeps the reader turning pages. How some of the characters, both primary and secondary, wiggle out of scary situations is believable but still amazing. I did wish for one more scene to let me know that one particular antagonist got his comeuppance. GOOD READING!

They’ve changed radically during the long separation. They have to start all over. It’s surprising, irritating—and somehow very exciting…

Two people coming into their own and finding they’ve got more in common than a marriage certificate–very interesting.

Ms Ashford’s book brought me to tears in good ways. I couldn’t put the book down and needed to know what would happen next. Why? The premise, first of all. Newlywed but strangers? I had to know what that was all about. Mary and John marry, but he’s called away on an offer he can’t refuse. What a jerk, right? He’s redeemable, so don’t let that deter you, but I thought the same thing. And he’s gone for two years. But it’s what happens during those two years and after that makes the story shine.

Mary…the poor girl. She wanted to be what everyone wanted her to be. Talk about a boring life. I cheered when she decided to come into her own and stand up for herself. Granted, this all takes place in a time where women being independent and forthright was frowned upon. A little interjecting of current values? Maybe, but this added spice to the story and I liked it. She finds out she’s happier when she’s herself and that’s a lesson we all should learn.

Then there’s John. Like I said, he comes off as a jerk initially. And why not be a jerk? He’s considered the one member of the family who isn’t suitable for marriage. I mean, how awful! He’s not stupid or witless as he’s thought to be by his family. Again, I liked how this character came into his own. He’s a good guy and smart. Plus, he’s sexy and just what Mary needs. Who can argue with that?

This book proves there might just be someone for everyone and it’s a matter of taking the time to find that person. Enjoyable, indeed.

The Moment of Realization by M.L. Buchman

One of the great challenges as a writer of romantic suspense is how to escalate a relationship relatively quickly without making it unbelievable. However, in my upcoming release Bring on the Dusk, I have two characters who are very used to keeping their thoughts to themselves. That was part of the real joy of writing this book, discovering along with the characters, their own emotions and reactions—whether getting ready for a dangerous mission, or stripped bare by exhaustion.

In the following scene, Michael and Claudia have known each other less than a day and already she’s considering the unique nature of the first meeting story.

*****

“No mission tonight.” Michael had taken her statement at face value. “But I think you might wish to attend the briefing.”

Not her first choice at all. She’d be asleep within thirty seconds of hitting the chair and end up slumped on the floor of the meeting room on her first day with the company. Hell of a first impression.

“I’ll try not to be boring.”

She laughed. It just burst out of her.

No one had ever been able read her like that.

Claudia had been accused of being an Ice Queen any number of times in her career, just because she liked keeping herself to herself. Of course, the guys said it because she wouldn’t sleep with them, which also had made the nickname useful. She’d learned early on the advantages of nurturing the image. She would occasionally let carefully selected men through her barriers, discreet ones who had no association with the Corps, though none of them had stuck for more than a few months.

But some of the women called her that too, which made her wonder. It was exactly the sort of thing Trisha would have said, if she’d thought to.

Claudia was far too tired to try to make sense of Trisha at the moment.

She was about to decline when Michael tipped his head in a gentle “C’mon.”

It was charming and she was tired enough to be charmed a little. She hadn’t missed his compliment or how much it had surprised his tablemates. And she’d never met someone who might understand the attraction of her desert. But maybe, just maybe, he did.

Share her desert with Colonel Michael.

She noted that in her head, it wasn’t an interrogative but rather a flat statement. Too young to be going senile, perhaps going psychotic? She’d known him for…an embrace, a meal, and a firefight.

Well, that only verified that they were both soldiers to the core. The average couple couldn’t point to the obliteration of an al-Qaeda cell as their meet-cute.

Couple? She really was losing it. It was a good thing she wasn’t one of those people whose brains connected directly to their mouths with no filter.

With a shrug of acceptance—which she deemed safe enough—she followed him up the steel ladders, through the ringing hangar deck where dozens of SOAR and Navy people were now scattered along a makeshift track, and on up to the flight deck.

3_2 BringontheDuskFive nations surround the Caspian Sea, five nations desperate for the vast resources there, and willing to go to war. It will take all of Claudia and Michael’s ingenuity to avert disaster. As they discover how right they are for each other, it will take even more to breach the walls they’ve so carefully built around their hearts…
