This was more a story of a serious tone than the cozy I thought it would be. I think the name and the series title, “A Fur Haven Dog Park Novel” gave me the impression it would be lighter. My mistaken notion did not affect the enjoyment of this read. It turned out that the story had a lot more depth than I thought it would. It had its moments of humor. Having dogs involved can always put a smile on your face. While romance is not my favorite genre, this light romance had some realistic moments. Some things we must unfortunately deal with in everyday life.

While the characters and the dogs were well defined, I did get a little frustrated with Carrie’s on again off again dithering. Wanted to scream at her, “fall back in love or don’t”. Then again, maybe that’s the whole point of the story. Move the reader to feel, to emote.

A Tail for Two is Book 2 in the series of three books to date. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it was enjoyable and worth my time enough to hope Book 4 is in the making.

Ms. Ashford introduced several new possible future heroines with this book. I would like to see them explored and allowed their own adventures. Ada’s aunt was fun, too.

Readers who enjoy a good mystery with a lovely dose of romance may enjoy Peter and Ada’s story. The Earl of Macklin’s quest is complete with this book but I could easily imagine this world expanding and the lives of those he brought together building and growing.

The author has some great new ideas and changes to the ‘normal’ ideals of a werewolf and an ability that I think is been overlooked for a long time. The author has her werewolf’s eyes change color based on what type they are: gold for Alpha, blue for Beta, and green for Omega. Also, their Omegas are completely different from others I have read about. They are considered loners, and much closer to their animal side which can cause them to have control issues. Each character has their own personalities, which actually seems to make the team better. Jake is a strong man, full of compassion, the ability to make choices quickly, and had that special something that pulled people together. As an Alpha, he felt the need to protect his people–even Caleb who could be a trial. Jes is a wonderful woman that anyone would be proud to have on their team. She has nerves of steel, the ability like Jake to take in a situation and make a quick decision. She does have her faults. She doesn’t trust people easily as she has lost many teammates.

The plot is full of suspense, action, shoot-outs, evil plots, and strange supernatural creatures that are supposed to not exist. I liked just how matter-of-fact the werewolves find it to kill, especially if they are threatening someone they consider theirs. Also, the way they fight is much different as they actually use and prefer guns to teeth and claws if they can help it. The end was rather explosive, and I loved it. The romance between Jes and Jake was sweet and hot, I love the soulmate angle and just how protective they both were. It was rather fun watching them squirm whenever they were apart, not wanting to lose the other. I adore just how protective Jake was through the story. He hates to let her out of his sight. Unfortunately, their romance had to take a back seat to the mission. In the end they became a strong family, ready and willing to take on the world.

I loved this plot and the variants that the author added about werewolves and other abilities and creatures. It was interesting watching the team build themselves into a pack, ready and willing to kill whoever tried to hurt one of theirs. The action was incredibly done, and I was drawn along for the ride, feeling their adrenaline and shame when their missions kept falling apart. Recommended.

Bears Behaving Badly is the first book in a new series and it sets up a literary world that isn’t so unlike our own. Except of course, there’s a hidden community of shifters. Bad guys are still bad guys and foster care kids still need someone watching out for and fighting for them.

The element of foster kids as were-shifters was a definite draw for this reader. The fact that one, Caro, is described as ‘selectively mute’ had me wondering about her story. I knew it wouldn’t be pretty but I didn’t see the direction the story would take and that’s a good thing. It wasn’t cookie cutter lit.

A major theme or thread in the story deals with child trafficking. If that’s a sensitive subject, be forewarned. It’s handled very well but it’s there.

The dialogue is pretty funny, clever really, but what I thought the author did especially well was to make the actions of the characters, while in human form, fit their inner were-beast. The werefox are quick and nimble. The bears are protective and strong. The prey animals are meek. Loved Nadia’s fierceness! And Pat is…something different. Pat added some serious color to this novel.

I really enjoyed watching David and Annette’s story develop. They both start out in denial outwardly but totally on board, inwardly, with admitting their attraction. I could see right away it wouldn’t take them long to give in but not without bumps and bruises along the way. Someone is out to kill Annette’s charges and this mamabear isn’t playing around.

Pop culture references are always a win with this reader and the story is chalked full of some of my favorites. There’s also a decent sprinkling of Gen Y and Millennial speak. Having teenagers at home helps to decipher.

An exciting foray into the paranormal with a well built story and a mystery to solve.

Their story is sweet. Blake will do whatever it takes to keep Nicole safe as she investigates the not-so-dead man and his cousin (who benefited from his death) staying on the fourth floor. The men are clever at cover their tracts and then there’s an additional surprise that I didn’t see coming.

The romance between Blake and Nicole heats up towards the end as does the action in the mystery she’s trying to solve. There’s never really any conflict between Blake and Nicole that has to be worked out so I felt a little let down, looking for growth, new discovery, a reason to cheer on their HEA.

They do have a beautiful future ahead of them, surrounded by family and a super supportive pack. I just didn’t feel a whole lot of chemistry between them that I look for in romance in general but especially paranormal. There’s a lot of telling in this book and it was very informative on the dangers of being caught in an avalanche. It was obvious Ms Spears did her homework there.

Still, the story in itself is complete. The bad guys are established early, her reason for being at the lodge is legit and the way she and Blake come together works. All in all, a good addition to the Silver Town saga of books with plenty of new characters to work in to new layers of the series.

This book is a sweet read that displays the concept of unconditional love. The book give readers a story of love and dedication to family as sisters alternate taking care of their Aunt Tweet who is sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In this story it’s Tabitha Knicely’s turn to care for her aunt.  Aunt Tweet decides to wander to neighbor Marcus Whittington’s porch. Marcus, although attracted to Tabitha from the start, accuses her of elder neglect and threatens to call the police. Another reason I enjoyed the book is that the author reveals some of the joys and challenges of the role of a caregiver. She didn’t bog the story down in the heaviness of Tabitha’s responsibilities and sacrifices but gave more weight to the romance between Tabitha and Marcus.

The characters are likeable and I believe the author touched on a topic that’s a lot more common than written about. This disease has touched my family firsthand so I commend Tabitha and her sisters in sharing the responsibility because caregiving is a life changing role and can weigh heavy on a person if they don’t have backup and resources to help. This leads me to wonder how much research the author did or was her sole purpose not to weigh the story down with in-depth heaviness of caregiving? There are resources that are offered and I couldn’t help but wonder why Tabitha and her sisters didn’t find out what was offered for help. It wasn’t until the end of the story when it was mentioned about getting Aunt Tweet a sitter. And I know firsthand that most people who have Alzheimer’s do not like a change of environment or new or unfamiliar people but Aunt Tweet didn’t seem to have any adverse reaction being around unfamiliar people except once during story time with the children.

I like the communication between the sisters and that they did video calls to keep in touch and check up on Aunt Tweet’s well being. I liked Marcus. He is a caring man and was there for a lot of people. His character seemed to be more developed than the others. We saw the business side of Marcus and his caring side. And it was a little scary and unreal how Marcus cared too much. He didn’t seem to hesitate or think twice about helping Latrice or Tabitha. Tabitha’s character didn’t seem to be as developed to me. All I can say about her is she’s a pharmaceutical rep and caregiver for her aunt. With the role she was in I wanted to see more realness, something readers in that role could relate to.

Though I enjoyed the book and reading about a real life illness the story was just too close to perfect and sweet for me. Readers who enjoy sweet happiness during a challenging situation, and no real suspense or drama would love reading this book.

Knox joined the hunters before he knew who they really were, and it’s a decision he has regretted ever since. Together, these two need to figure out both of their problems as well as those of the job they have been assigned to. Sounds like fun!

This is book ten in the series although you can read it as a standalone, as I have. Yes, there were times when I would have liked more information, but that is the risk you take when you read a book in a series you haven’t read from the beginning. On the whole, though, I found this to be engrossing and would certainly say it stood on its own feet.

The story itself is well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed. Some of it was clear to see, other parts were shrouded in mystery, keeping me on my toes as I read. There was also plenty of anticipation and build-up between our two main characters which only added to the story, in my opinion.

A brilliant read and the series is now on my TBR pile! Absolutely recommended by me.

I won’t tell you this is a heavy, complex book. It isn’t. But as I said it’s a story to enjoy and make you feel good and hope that things turn out your way.

Fizzy, bubbly, sensational and sexy are just some of the words I can use to describe how I felt about some of the characters while reading this novel. I laughed, giggled, snickered and face-palmed; I grinned, gasped and fanned myself from the heat. All this from one book that was so good, I stayed up to almost 2 a.m. to finish it. Why is it so awesome? Because Ms. Harte made me feel like I was right there, walking alongside Evan and Kenzie, Daniel and Smith, Lila and Rachel and the whole cast that made up the families of both the hero and heroine. I felt part of the inner circle because of the third person POV from both Evan and Kenzie’s side of things. And yet, there was so much to discover about everyone that could only be done by watching what happened, listening in on other’s conversations and seeing the emotion and craziness falling in love brought into all their lives. Never mind the resulting entertainment as they stumbled, goofed, gaffed and made goo-goo eyes at each other on and off during their budding relationship. There were such strong feelings of warmth, welcoming and family, warts and all, that appealed to me on so many levels, I couldn’t help but adore this book. Handle with Care is an excellent feel-good, happy-inducing read that left me feeling 100% satisfied. This is romance done right.

The dialogue alone is a giggle-kicker. What comes out of the mouths of Lila and Rachel are blushingly hysterical and they make no apologies for their colorful views on sex. The resulting word war between Evan and Daniel, Kenzie’s brother, was unconventional to say the least, but I have to admit laughing out loud at some of the more creative ideas for swearwords. It’s how and when they were used that made it seem real, relatable and effective comic relief. Overall, the strength of this novel is its dialogue between the characters, both first and secondary.

Emotion. Oh, there is a lot of that going around. Here’s where I find the author did a solid. Everyone always follows a heroine when there’s some kind of breakup or misunderstanding in the process of falling in love. So many books use that trope to fill scenes up with angst. Not many look at it from the guy’s perspective. What does he do when he’s hurt? I know that Chunky Monkey seems to be popular for hurting heroines but what do guys do? Ms. Harte shares her vision of Evan in a funk and I’m not sorry to say, I found it hilarious. Genius and hilarious. In my mind’s eye, I could picture it so clearly. I liked the hero even more because of it.

I understand that this is book 3 in the series, and based on how I feel after finishing Handle with Care, I know I missed out in not reading the first two. But, I did not feel left out. That’s a huge difference. This can be read as a standalone because the focus is exactly where it should be, on Evan and Kenzie’s rocky, quirky, unconventional, romantic, sexy and wonderful romance.

Of all the subplots with a secondary character, Ms. Harte picked the right person to highlight, Smith. Evan and Smith’s relationship is important on a few levels. It’s sometime comical, but there is a depth of emotion, a well of untapped seriousness that gave the novel solid footing. These are people who’ve been dealt some seriously bad hands in life and yet manage to rise above it. Or are trying to. Through the hero, I came to understand that there is a lot more to Smith than what the story initially presented. The last chapter in the novel, where the HEA is revealed in all its fun and romantic glory also included a well worded, intriguing sentence that insured the obvious. I HAVE to read the next story. Consider me obsessed with the thought of Smith’s HEA – now that I have been given a hint of his teddy bear side, I want him to have something he never had. Evan discovered it, now I want Smith to have it. The big question is, how long do I have to wait to find out? That’s the mark of a well written book – the yearning for more of the good stuff. Handle with Care is definitely good stuff and if that’s the quality Ms. Harte is known to write, which I believe she is, then wanting more is a no-brainer. I’m in.

I am blown away by the wonderful writing, descriptions and dialogue, not to mention the amazing insight into zoo animal husbandry and the particular and interesting personalities of the zoo’s resident honey badgers, all found within the pages of Sweet Wild of Mine.

The author provided exceptional respect, care and consideration to a topic I have no knowledge of – speech dysfluency. There’s a naturally organic plot involving rejecting and accepting, hiding and being open to possibilities, fear and courage, with love and healing woven throughout. Ms. Kerr captured the heart of romance, the perfect balance of hopes and dreams among the landmines of traumatic pasts. In their own ways, both Magnus and June have broken pieces inside of them and they’ve dealt with them by means of various coping mechanisms, some positive and some stifling. The thing they have in common is not being complete, that something is missing but have no idea what it is or how to identify it. They’re pretty much clueless. Their first meeting was inflammatory and yet, it started something bigger and more profound than anything they could have imagined. My heart, emotions and feelings, were all engaged in this delightful and truly marvelous journey of love, forgiveness and discovery. I feel fortunate to have read this because it’s simply beautiful, fun, entertaining and charming.

Another strong element is the theme of family. Not all of it is good, especially on Magnus’s side, but most of it is, and it’s as real as it gets. I read so many scenes that I could relate to. June’s Nana reminds me of my aunt because they both are suffering the same kind of condition. What June is going through touched me deeply because my own family is starting that emotional journey, making those same heartrending decisions. It’s not easy or without pain and I could relate to June’s position on a more intimate level. The thing that touched me the most is how Ms. Kerr made sure that a reader felt the unconditional love June had for her Nana.

Magnus’s family situation is not only sad but when he revealed the truth to June, it was horrifying. The reveal was powerful, and June wasn’t the only person reeling from the enormity of what the hero lived through. I was also tremendously relieved that the hero experienced some level of reconciliation but I won’t reveal how, when or with whom. I’m just happy the author shared that with me.

The only advice I have to give about reading this novel is to have on hand a glossary of Scottish slang. I used the one from Wiktionary. The author was clever in her usage by having her characters utilize them naturally in conversation. I could guess on the meaning and more often than not I got it right. But there were some colorful ones I wanted to be sure of so I could enjoy all the nuances. I actually had fun learning some of them and found them so fascinating, I’m thinking of adopting a few into my own vocabulary.

I could go on and on about all the awesomeness that can be found in Sweet Wild of Mine, from the adorable polar bear cub, the camels, the secondary characters, and the sensual exploration between the sheets showcasing the physical side of Magnus and June’s love. Sometimes it was hot, other times sensual but at all times perfectly well placed and well written.

Romance readers are in for a solid treat, a memorable story and a remarkable and amazing romance between two characters easy to fall in love with. I enthusiastically recommend reading Sweet Wild of Mine for yourself.
