But knowing Paxton is due to leave after the festive season, can Lauren risk giving him her heart and her little boy a daddy for Christmas?

Two people who seem to fit together find a way to make things work, but will it last?

I’m a sucker for an opposites attract story. Susan Carlisle is a go-to author for me. The writing is always sparkling and keeps me right in my seat until the last page. This book was no different.

Paxton and Lauren are great characters. Fully-fleshed and fun, they show the magic of the holiday throughout the story. I loved the doctor in the country storyline. Susan Carlisle writes the plotline, which could be trite, in a fresh perspective.

Paxton is out of his element. He’s in a small town, with no traffic lights, is snowed in and has to help care for a child. I liked how he dealt with each hurdle. He was very real to me. Then there’s Lauren. She’s no-nonsense. She knows what she wants and isn’t always ready to grab it (him) because she’s got to concentrate on her son. I liked how they were both realistic. I fell for both characters and wanted to see them not only have a great Christmas, but a happy ending, too.

If you’re looking for a sweet read that’s sure to heat up the holidays or the chilly winter nights, then this might be the one you’re looking for. Recommended.

No matter what he does, there is no end to what his family needs. What’s a regular, everyday guy to do? Well, he cuts a few corners, obviously-one very big corner in particular. He sells his soul to the Devil. Maybe it’s not the actual Devil, but Larry is ready to make a deal with one of the Devil’s minions. He meets some demon whose name he can’t remember. Funny, it was right on the tip of his tongue, a name of something you step on. Roach the Demon has sort of good intentions. He just wants a re-write of Dante’s Inferno with himself as the star. Roach goes after Larry as a rogue operation. He needs to make a point to his boss, Satan, so he uses the body of a human to follow Larry around and stir up trouble. He offers Larry an airtight guarantee that nothing could possibly go wrong. After all, Larry doesn’t feel like he has much to lose-or does he? Even Roach might be in over his head this time.

A disgruntled demon who wants out of hell. A lying husband. A frightened wife. An unhappy prude of a woman. Bring all these together and all hell lets loose.

Roach leaves Hell and hides from his master, Satan. With the help of his friend who is a techno demon, Roach manages to mix up the lives of several people and brings chaos to the lying husband and the prudish woman. The frightened wife is the only one who benefits from the demon’s actions although this is not the Roach’s intention.

At first I thought this was going to be a bit boring but as I read on I found it quite amusing. The downtrodden wife surprises everyone with her actions and although at first Roach seems to have the upper hand, the unexpected results of his actions make the story funny with satisfying results.

An unusual story, with only a hint of romance, but well put together. All the characters are believable and at times I found myself cheering them on, or hoping they would fail. Roach’s actions I found funny mainly because the ordinary humans around him weren’t aware of what was going on. Nice read.

Lorna Randolph is hired for the summer at Harrison Hall in Virginia, where Revolutionary-War reenactors provide guided tours of the elegant old home. She doesn’t expect to receive a note and a kiss from a handsome young man who then vanishes into mist.

Harrison Hall itself has plans for Lorna – and for Hart Harrison, her momentary suitor and its 18th century heir. Past and present are bound by pledges of love, and modern science melds with old skills and history as Harrison Hall takes Lorna and Hart through time in a race to solve a mystery and save Hart’s life before the Midsummer Ball.

Lorna and Hart have waited centuries to find each other.

Lorna’s life changes the moment she sets foot in Harrison Hall. All she wanted was a good Summer job to help save for college. Harrison Hall also provides Lorna the perfect opportunity to escape from the betrayal of her best friend and ex-boyfriend. She never expected to find a house with a deep connection to the past. Ms. Trissel wastes no time diving right into the story. As soon as Lorna arrives at Harrison Hall, Lorna is captivated by the ghostly figure of Hart. Even stranger, Lorna can’t shake the feeling she knows him well. As the young pair explore their feelings, time is not on their side. Hart is destined to die at the Midsummer Ball. Will they solve the mystery of his death, or be doomed to spend eternity apart?

Lorna and Hart have excellent chemistry. I’m not usually a fan of instant love connections, but Ms. Trissel has imbued each page with the sense that Lorna and Hart belong together. While their connection is clearly genuine, I wanted to get to know them better. They loved each other in a different lifetime, but Lorna only remembers bits and pieces. I would have loved to see more glimpses of their past life. Even their time in the present seems rushed. Lorna and Hart spend so much time rehearsing for the re-enactment of Hart’s death while simultaneously trying to prevent it in the past that they barely have any time to relax and get reacquainted. Despite this issue, I have no doubt Lorna and Hart have the makings of a great couple. They are desperate to stay together, and the fear they would lose each other after waiting centuries to find each other was palpable. I was on pins and needles wondering how it would all work out!

I was intrigued by the mystery of Hart’s death. I raced through the pages watching Lorna and Hart work tirelessly to not only uncover the true conditions of Hart’s death, but also find a way to prevent it. I would have liked to explore the villain’s motives more. The explanation seemed a bit abrupt after building up so much suspense.

Reading Ms. Trissel’s work is always a delight. Somewhere My Lady is a great read filled with romance and just a dash of suspense. Fans of time-travel romance won’t want to miss this novel!

Rivie is a complex character, and the author has done a great job at making Rivie’s inner torment real. She has layers of tender feelings and a secretive past. She is so sad, readers will deeply sympathize with how injured she is, and her secret creates great suspense.

Sean wants to make things work and asks for six months, but Rivie is really messed up inside. Readers are likely to root for him. He can only win if Rivie finds some personal healing, so his win would mean hers, as well. At times, there are possibilities of confusion for the reader, but nothing too distracting.

This is a real page turner, an emotional story filled with painful love, and an injured woman’s journey to peace and happiness. The author has done well with capturing this journey.

Faced with the loss of all her loved ones, she turns to the only person who understands her plight, U.S. cavalry scout, Jacob Wells.
Jacob has led a difficult life, born of a Comanche mother and a cavalry soldier. He serves as a cavalry scout with bravery and integrity, wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps. But when a commission in the Army is within his grasp, he learns there is something more important than ambition—his growing love for Ruth.
Discouraged and grieving, Ruth turns Jacob away to start a new life in the East. She has an important lesson to learn before she can love again—the lesson of forgiveness. Can Ruth forgive all the pain and sorrow she’s suffered and open her heart to Jacob and his forever-after kind of love?

Can one forgive after suffering so much heartache? Ruth MacDonald lost her family and was later held captive by the Comanche tribe for two years. Later she was deceived by those she thought had her best interest at heart. She knows heartache very well.

This is a short novel but covers a lot. This story is about forgiveness, using caution when wanting to love and trust again but it also touches on a tough topic. Ruth is judged because she was held captive and is pregnant by a warrior of the Comanche tribe. Jacob Wells is a U.S. Cavalry scout that is looked upon as being beneath the other Army member’s because of his mixed race. Both had something in common and grew from that. They couldn’t help how they were formed or being held captive but they didn’t let that make them bitter. Their time spent together and the growth of their relationship help lighten the heaviness of the story. Their relationship brought a refreshing and sweet romance to the story.

Ruth is a strong character that held up under tremendous pressure. With her shattered heart from a horrific past event she opens up to trust only to be deceived. I did think Ruth was a little harsh at the end of the book. Even though she was hurt she didn’t have compassion for Nellie’s situation. All of the characters had it tough. Nellie and Captain Ezekiel O’Connor weren’t exempt. Their heart’s desire to have children only to be disappointed time after time tugged at my heart. Reading their story made me think about what I would do in either of the women’s circumstances.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the storyline and the two main characters Ruth and Jacob. I admire both for their strength and good will. I enjoyed reading their story and wanted their lives to have a happy ending. This is a well developed plot that not only hooked me but it drew me in to want to read book two in the series.

I didn’t read book one or book two in the Cinderella Romance series but I plan to remedy that as soon as possible. Book three, Par for Cinderella, was a hole in one for me. I loved it and felt it could be read as a stand alone.

Aidan was swoon worthy. He was more than just a handsome man. He was generous, kind and thoughtful. Beautiful on the inside and outside. I felt if the other leading characters in the previous books in this series are anything like Aidan then I need and want to read them just for more swooning possibilities.

Casey, the heroine, was loved by her townsfolk. It was easy to see why. She had the matching characteristics of Aidan, therefore they were made for each other. Unfortunately her past broken relationships made her not trust handsome men and Aidan had secrets of his own that made their budding romance that much sweeter to read. I couldn’t put the book down. When they interacted I could feel the chemistry and often their banter made me seriously laugh out loud.

The story is well written with something consistently going on that left me riveted. There were a few plot threads that intertwined to keep the reader in suspense. The characters were well developed. Some I adored and others I was happy to see their demise.

There was some back story shared for some of the characters that had their own book prior to this one but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all. It only made me want to read the previous books to learn more about their story. I found the back stories to be intriguing not distracting or confusing.

There were some misunderstandings between Aidan and Casey that made for a book glow at the culmination of the story. I found Par for Cinderella to be a refreshing contemporary romance story with unexpected surprises through out the plot.

A fun fact is I dragged my feet to read it because I was afraid it was going to be “golf-ish”. I made that word up. I hate golf with a passion because it takes my husband away from his family. I have to say that I regret feeling like that now. Par for Cinderella was an awesome book!

Dashiell Sutherland, a former army intelligence officer, has a job interview in Seattle and must arrive by December 23. Their feelings catch them off guard—never before has either been so excited about a first meeting. But the two are in for more twists and turns along the way as they rescue a lost puppy, run into petty thieves, and even get caught up in a case of mistaken identity. Though Ashley and Dash may never reach Seattle in time for Christmas, the season is still full of surprises—and their greatest wishes may yet come true.

Christmas, a puppy and love. How can you go wrong?

I’ve never read a Debbie Macomber book and I’m glad I picked this one up. I have to admit, I grabbed it because of the dog on the cover. I’m a sucker for dog stories. This one ticked that box for me.

The writing flowed well and it was hard to put this book down–I had to. I couldn’t stay up late enough to finish it. That said, some of the subplot was a tad odd… I really had to stretch to go along with it. But I can’t say it was enough to turn me off. The bit about the biker… Well, you’ll have to read it for yourself to make a decision.

Ashley and Dashiell (Ash and Dash lol) were an interesting pairing. They seemed to have little in common and the romance happened a bit on the quick side, but with the dash of Christmas tossed in, it was a satisfying quick read.

If you want a book that’s cozy for the holidays, then this might be the one for you.

The author has done well with this set-up.

Piper is also likeable, a strong female lead. Readers will enjoy seeing how she deals with the impetuous Nick.

Secondary characters are written well to fill out the story and add depth. We care about their wants and needs as well. This story being a sequel, there is the possibility of some confusion at times if one hasn’t read the first book, but the author weaves in bits of the past to help with understanding.

Monkey wrenches get thrown into plans, complicating things. Will certain people run into certain others in the past? Will competing plans to achieve something good ruin everything? The suspense is great. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting.

Time travel methodology has been written in many different ways. The author is this story wrote the specifics in a way that perfectly matches the feel of this particular world. The complications of a changed timeline are fascinating. What’s at risk is so tremendous that readers will be on the edge of their seats, so to speak. In Elizabethan Scotland the Mac Griogair clan is forbidden to use their clan name or they will be executed. Members of the clan go far and wide, changing their names to avoid detection. When the ban was lifted in 1774 the main hub of the clan set out to bring the travellers back into the fold, but a lot of them didn’t want to come. The word went out, return or be annihilated.

Evaline (or Eva) returns to her hometown and continues the search for her brother who disappeared. Her investigation has brought all sorts of threats in her direction. The Cowen family own the local diner and she is attracted to one of the brothers, but there is something strange about the whole family. In her dreams she sees a large wolf and believes this has something to do with her brother’s disappearance.

This is a very good tale of deception, mystery and paranormal. A bit weak in the part where Eva won’t tell Mason what is wrong, I know she’s strong willed but she has an inkling of Mason’s true identity and this should ensure that he will believe her and help her.

Other than the above, the story holds together very well. Every detail was visible to me as I read it, especially the food aspect and the Cowen’s house and land. Good read and very enjoyable story.
