At this point, this story began to be really interesting and different. I wasn’t certain how this would make the story end up with a HEA, but I loved the way Cary Grant kept popping into her life, trying to help, but more often than not, causing more problems. I loved this story line, and when Katherine Hepburn popped in to help him, the story became even more fun.

How she actually handled the situation, and how she dealt with these spirits not only made the story more fun to read, but the author went into the mind and lives of Tracy and Mike in such a way that you could really relate to both of them. I could really understand each of them and how they had gotten to this point in their marriage. It really is a love story, not just a break up story, and It was so well written and had unique plot, that I just couldn’t put this book down until I had finished it.

I loved it, and I loved the way it ended and for any of you who are looking for a fun, yet serious in a way, romance, this one is for you.

Mr. Goodman’s descriptions of these civilizations are so richly detailed that at times it almost felt as if I were reading three separate novellas. What makes this novel even more interesting, though, is how he slowly draws out the similarities among them. Not every character is necessarily likable, but their strong personalities are well suited to the plot, and I was impressed by how much attention was paid to characterization given that this is a heavily plot-centered tale.

Due to a prolonged exposition, the pacing in this book is a little uneven in the beginning. The narrator describes both well-known and somewhat obscure scientific concepts in detail in order to ensure that even people who aren’t particularly knowledgable about physics or astronomy understands why certain phenomenon take place. The pauses in the plot to describe why these things are happening are necessary and valuable, but it would have been helpful for this reader if some of these lessons had taken place a little later on instead. The beginning starts off with a fascinating series of events that I would have preferred to spend more time exploring before the lengthy scientific explanations begin.

As much fun as it is to read about otherworldly gizmos and playful descriptions of what aliens might look like, what I find most appealing about the science fiction genre is that it asks questions about ethics, morality and what our future might look like if we continue on the same path without necessarily providing clear-cut answers for any of them. This story excels at prodding the reader’s imagination and presenting old facts in new ways. If it is any indication of his writing ability I look forward to reading the author’s next book soon.

Zylan’s Messengers is an excellent choice for anyone who enjoys plot-centered hard science fiction. Why not give it a try today?

With that being said, there were things about Claire’s personality that I never understood. Her risk-taking tendencies seem to clash with everything else I learned about this character. It would have been helpful if both sides of her personality were given more time to complement one another.

If there’s one thing I learned from Life Eludes Him it is that one should never underestimate the longterm memory of a community. Nearly every small town has its own set of local legends. One of the pleasures of visiting a new place is listening to the locals talk about the people and places within them that outsiders have never heard of, and this book are no exception to that rule. It was quite interesting to piece together what happened in the mansion based on what the surrounding community has remembered over the years.

I also would have liked to see more time spent explaining the science fiction elements of this short story. The paranormal themes are given more than enough time to develop, but I can’t say the same thing about the science fiction themes. What I did learn about them was fascinating, and this tale would have earned a higher rating had the brief allusions to certain phenomenon been explained more thoroughly.

The mansion was described in such detail that it quickly became my favourite part of the narrative. Old, abandoned houses often feel a little melancholy to me, and this one is no exception to that rule. What made this setting even more intruding was how much it has declined since it was abandoned. Even the most beautiful property will decay if it’s not taken care of properly, sometimes to the point that it’s difficult to see potential of it behind the mildew, dust, and broken or missing elements.

Life Eludes Him is a quick, satisfying short story that is a good choice for anyone in the mood for something supernatural and lighthearted.

Ms. Muller has woven some dark history and deep-rooted beliefs into a story with tangible elements. There’s something about these kinds of tales that gives me chills because as I’m reading them, I know this is something that could happen. I could pick up the newspaper tomorrow and read an article detailing this very same thing. This sense of realism makes the story that much more intriguing for me.

The characters are very well written and easy to love. The additions of secondary characters are well paced and add pertinent depth and detail without detracting from the hero or heroine. Every person has a purpose and aren’t simply thrown in to add words to a page and length to the book. Each new plot point serves to move the story along at a good pace without the addition of unnecessary fillers. I never felt bored or indifferent; each new page held my interest as much as the last. While this is a romance, there’s minimal detail of the sex scenes and no explicit foreplay, so lovers of sensual reads shouldn’t find anything offensive. Anyone looking for a little more sexy detail won’t find it here. No, this story is more about the emotional turmoil of two parent’s nightmare—a missing child—and the steps they take to find their daughter together.

Overall, Ms. Muller has penned an interesting story that’s sure to touch your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end and will certainly put it on my keeper list. There are some books that are simply meant to be read and enjoyed, then filed away. Then there are others you envision on the big screen. This is one of those stories that will likely stay with you long after The End.

And in relation to that I found Cooper’s reaction way too selfish, not to say unnecessary, even for the sake of the story. In spite of all that, I enjoyed reading this story; it was fun, a quick read, with lot of interesting characters and two funky dogs. I love how Rylee dealt with the situation once the truth came out in public and I was so happy that Reed saw that Rylee is way more than her father’s daughter.

If you are looking for something light with big dogs with a clever and compassionate heroine, read That Dating Thing.

I thought the arrangement Richard and Caroline entered into was interesting from the start. Caroline is smitten with Richard from the moment they meet, so I found it easy to believe she would be eager to marry him, even though it was only supposed to be a marriage of convenience. Though Richard professed not to have any serious feelings for Caroline, it is clear that he is very fond of her. As they spent more time together, their bond gradually strengthened. They have many obstacles to overcome before they reach their happy ending, including an enemy lurking in the shadows trying to sabotage their happiness. Richard is also tormented by memories of his past. He wants to let Caroline in, but every time I thought he was making progress, something would remind him of his former wife and he would push Caroline away. I kept wondering how long Richard would let his past ruin his future with Caroline.

I have to give Caroline credit. She is a warm and caring woman with an enormous amount of patience. Caroline is fairly accommodating concerning Richard’s mood swings, but she isn’t weak. She is perfectly capable of standing up for herself when Richard crosses the line. Her personality is the perfect mixture of gentleness and strength and is exactly what Richard needed to help heal his heart.

I must admit I found it very easy to figure out who was behind the incidents attributed to the ghost of Richard’s dead wife. There were only a few plausible suspects, so I was fairly sure how everything would play out. It was simply a matter of wondering when Richard and Caroline would finally put all the pieces together.

I enjoyed reading His Shadowed Heart. Richard and Caroline are charming characters and I had fun watching them on their journey to peace and happiness. Anyone looking for a good book to pass the afternoon with should give His Shadowed Heart a try.

The author also paced the plot quite well. I was easily led from being introduced to Susan and her situation, to the ranch and the cowboy brothers who split the land and work it. While people who want to read a fast-paced go-go-go book might find it slow, I actually enjoyed taking my time. The gradual unfurling of the plot meant instead of being bombarded by a hectic pace I could really relax and savour the characters and the story woven around them. While there’s nothing overly new to the plot it still read as fresh to me – mostly due to the fact I was hooked on Susan, Wyatt and the other characters’ lives and actions. I was a little disappointed with how stubborn Susan could be – and close-minded to the possibilities of a relationship with Wyatt – but have to admit it added a good amount of conflict and tension into the plot and also kept Wyatt honest and on his toes.

Readers wanting a more traditional cowboy-style romance might be a little disappointed. While Andy and Wyatt are genuine cowboys, they’ve mostly embraced the modern age. There’s plenty of horseback riding – but the women also manage to white water raft, rappel and fly fish, giving the feel of the book a bigger feel than simply staying on a dude ranch with dusty cowboys, horses and cows alone. I enjoyed this greater depth to the story, but must admit it did detract from the “dusty, open planed cowboy” feel of the story that I was expecting. I also would have liked a little more details into why Susan felt such an immediate, electrical attraction to Wyatt. As they got to know each other the level of chemistry between them showed clearly just how attracted they both were to each other, but initially I had trouble understanding why, exactly, Susan felt so connected to him when there was nothing more than her physical reaction to go on.

I found this to be a wonderful story, filled with memorable characters and a secondary cast that was three dimensional and interesting. The pace of this book was slow but steady, and the timing of the plot was expertly applied. A few small niggles can be easily overlooked in my opinion and overall this is a brilliant story and full of warm-hearted moments and characters you can really get into. A lovely story.

However, it does not end with a cliff-hanger, but a nice segue into the next book in the series.

It didn’t take me long to sort things out, however, and even though I would love to read the earlier books to find out more about the over arcing conflict, the book was enjoyable as a read-alone. The characters are well drawn and likeable (I especially like Sally, the spine cat).

I will definitely be downloading the rest of the series to add to my ever growing TBR pile! Good job, Ms. Burkhart.

All of them were well drawn and Ms. Kennedy does a great job making them jump off the page and become real people in your mind.  Ridge is sexy and sweet, and you feel like you want to nudge Sierra in the back letting her know she’s found her soul-mate.

Despite its 400 plus pages, you’ll find yourself reading more and more at each sitting just to see where the author’s taking these two next.  In the end love, a town’s community spirit, and some kids with a mind of their own, bring the story to a sweet conclusion.

If you like stories featuring cowboys and small towns, I think you’ll find this a fun read.

I like a book that holds my attention and makes me want to keep reading, despite the late hour. This was one such book. I had to know what would happen. Lily Dalton’s writing flowed well and she engrossed me with the fine tale.

This is a book of second chances. Lady Sophia’s husband is known for being a bad boy. She shouldn’t want to love him. Shouldn’t want his touch. And yet, she does. I respected her desires. A first love is a very strong love. Ms. Dalton conveys this emotion in the story quite well. What I had a slight issue with was Sophia’s tendency to believe rumors rather than find out the truth. I liked her, but I wished she’d have been a tad stronger.

Vane is interesting as well. He’s got a reputation and in the Ton, everything is gossiped about. I felt for him because yeah, he was a man about town before the marriage, but he actually seemed pretty upstanding. The fact that he wanted his wife back–especially after what happened–was quite nice. I won’t give away any spoilers, but I could understand why these two broke apart and why they had a hard time reconnecting.

I did enjoy the ending and how these two sorted through the rest of the book. It’s worth the read. Grab a copy.
