The dialogue was well written. I especially appreciated the lighthearted moments that sometimes showed up in it. Not only did the things the characters said fit their personalities perfectly, they were also a nice break from the darker and occasionally sadder scenes. These shifts between joking and talking about serious things were exactly what I was expecting from such complicated and interesting characters.

This story had a slow beginning. I had some trouble staying interested for the first third of it because of how little was going on with the plot. The blurb didn’t share many hints about what the main conflict was going to be about or why the main characters found it so divisive, so I was curious to discover that information for myself. While I liked getting to know them so well, I would have preferred to see Eli and Jay deal with more conflicts early on as I was figuring out their personalities and habits. There was definitely room for it. Had the first thirty pages included more conflict, I would have chosen a much higher rating for this book as I did enjoy it quite a bit overall.

With that being said, I really got into the storyline once the pacing sped up. Jay and Eli’s budding relationship was handled beautifully. The chemistry between them felt so real. I also liked the fact that I was able to learn so much about them and their lives before anything remotely romantic happened. This made me eager to see if they would end up together because I’d grown to care about both of these guys so much.

I’d recommend The Life & Death of Eli & Jay to anyone who is in the mood for a sweet and leisurely romance.

Even Brenda, who seemed to have all the answers that Drew and the readers needed, played such a small and insignificant role, her credibility was nil and her psychic-like abilities too convenient.

However, the story is creative, entertaining, and written in an easy-to-read style. It’s a quick read, too, making it perfect for long flights or an afternoon at the beach. While Ben’s work – and the anger and grief he’d worked through – was in contrast to the happy tone of the story, I felt this actually made the plot stronger and better. There’s plenty of moments where I giggled – the fun contagious. I feel readers who enjoy a bit of lightheartedness with their romance won’t be disappointed. Having said that, there’s definitely strong emotions – not all of them happy – in Ben’s work. This contrast was shown throughout the story and really intrigued me and kept me eagerly turning the pages.

A great story, I really enjoyed this. The slow progression from strangers, to friends, to more was wonderfully paced to my mind. Ben and Darby came together in what felt like a natural progression and while there’s only one short sex scene the story ends on a clear high note – loving enough to satisfy most romance readers I would think.

A lovely tale about love, loss, grief and hope, with plenty of romance and a delicious slow burn to the main romance this is a wonderful story I know I’ll enjoy many times in the future.

Before I started to read Home I google the book and author and I tried to find some information on Goodreads about them. Unfortunately I didn’t find much. Anyway I decided to read it, because the blurb sounded promising and I like to read indie and new authors. And I am glad that I read it, because Home turns out to be a hidden gem; a beautiful, brilliant hidden gem.

This is coming of age story that takes place in a Cambridge over the course of one summer between high school and college for the main character, Aspen Kirkland. Aspen is confused, and a bit lost; because her parents got divorced, because she move away from Cambridge with her mother after it and because she tried to define herself by dating different boys. But instead of finding herself, her behavior left her empty. She knows that she did some bad things and she is beating herself up very hard because of that. Aspen is clever, but a bit lost. Fortunately for her the things  change upon her return to Cambridge. During the summer she will work on her relationship with her father and with her childhood friend Sean. Sean is completely opposite from Aspen. Where she is experienced, he is inexperienced; where he know his path, Aspen is clueless; where he is driven, she is not. But also he is exactly what she needs in order to define herself.

Written from Aspen’s perspective it gives a great view into her emotions and actions. The story goes back and forth, providing an insight into Aspen’s past and creating a full overview of her life in preceding four years. Home is such emotional read. The writing is beautiful, descriptions good and characters so alive. It has to be said that there is certain predictability, but the author still managed to write an interesting and captivating story.

Home is beautiful coming of age story that I highly recommend. Read it.  You will not regret it.

I love the books of Tammy Kaehler because she knows her racing. The story flows well and it felt like I was right there in the car with her. The racing descriptions were rich and detailed. It truly felt like I rode with her in those races.

Now the writing flows well, like I said. I turned the pages wanting to know what would happen next. There’s so much going on for Kate and it’s hard to keep it all straight. There isn’t much room for extra in this book. While that’s good, it can be a little frustrating keeping what’s going on straight, but don’t let that keep you from picking up this book. I don’t want to give away the plot because it is great, so I recommend picking it up.

Keeping up with Kate, the investigation and all of her new situations is fun. That’s what summed up the book for me. It’s fun. If you’re in the mood for a good mystery, then this might be the book for you.

On the other hand the situation in which Wyatt and Rebecca ended up was not a pleasant one. They feel attraction, they want to explore it, but they are not sure how people around them will react. The solutions put in the story works well, they are neither forced nor naïve.

Due to its length I read this story pretty quickly, and I enjoyed it very much. Fast paced, sweet and interesting. I recommend it.

While March can be truly terrifying, he is definitely the lesser evil when compared to the other hit man after Island. Unfortunately, Island learns this the hard way. Fortunately, March has no intention of abandoning Island until he’s fulfilled his contract. As March and Island work at unraveling her mother’s secrets, the more Island realizes she didn’t know her mother at all. Island slowly begins to develop feelings for March, but he has secrets too. Will Island ever be able to fully trust anyone?

Island and March are certainly an odd team. March’s rigid standards definitely clash with Island’s more relaxed approach. I enjoyed watching her push his buttons, and a scene involving a stack of road maps was particularly entertaining. As much as I enjoyed following March and Island on their adventures, I must admit I was a little confused by Island’s developing attraction to March. When I finished reading, I didn’t feel as if I really knew much about him. He is very reserved and rarely ever talks about anything personal. I could tell at times that he wanted to say and do more, but just wasn’t capable or ready to take that step. I think that Island could be very good for March if he would let her in. However, March doesn’t think he is good for Island, and I agree. His life is very dangerous, and unless he makes some serious changes, I don’t see a future for March and Island. While I didn’t expect any passionate declarations of love, I had hoped that the end of the story would have been a bit happier. However, I do get the sense that there is still hope for this odd couple.

Ms. Monk’s writing style well paced and easy to read. The quotes at the beginning of each chapter were always a source of entertainment. I found that as I read, I would just glance at the next quote and then find myself hooked into reading another chapter.

Reading Spotless was certainly a wild ride. I never knew what mess Island would find herself in next, and I look forward to reading more about Island and her adventures in the sequel.

Although this is book 5 of a series, it is a whole story unto itself: one can read it as a stand-alone.

Return to Willow Creek delivers exactly what you’d expect. I do think fans of the time period will enjoy this romance.

However, once Temperance realizes she will not be allowed to travel around the country; her excitement quickly turns to boredom. Consequently, she decides to do a bit of exploring on her own and meets Kazuo. Their first meeting leaves her wanting more, and once again she dares to escape the confines of the small island she’s living on. Unfortunately, this mistake proves to be very costly, and Temperance’s life is changed forever. I must say that while this is book three in a series, it can certainly stand on its own.

Temperance is a very easy character to like. She’s definitely naïve at the start of the story, but she is kind, caring, and always willing to help others. Her inner strength is put to the test more than once in this book, and I had the pleasure of watching Temperance grow into a great character.

Temperance and Kazuo make a very good couple. They are attracted to each other from the moment they meet, and I must admit that their connection is formed a little fast for my taste. Despite this issue, Temperance and Kazuo’s relationship still feels genuine. However, the restrictions on foreigners make the idea of a happy ending for the couple seem truly impossible. Ms. Courtenay did an excellent job of building suspense gradually. As this romance progressed, the couple moved from one precarious situation to another, and I wasn’t entirely sure that Temperance and Kazuo would find a way to be together without fear until the very end.

Temperance and Kazuo face separate dilemmas throughout the story. As they try to avoid being caught by various enemies, they try to tackle one problem at a time. However, the solution to both Temperance and Kazuo’s problems are found in the same place, and Temperance plays a key role in restoring Kazuo’s family honor. It was not exactly the solution I expected, but it was certainly satisfying.

The Jade Lioness is a very enjoyable book. Temperance is a sweet character, and I liked cheering for her and Kazuo against all odds. I recommend this tale to anyone looking for a different historical romance.

Darragh finds an orphaned kitten in the fires and is delighted when he finds Aubrey working at the local clinic.

I found this to be a lovely, well paced story. Who can possibly go past a hot firefighter? Darragh is a sexy hero with a heart of gold – I wasn’t the least surprised how quickly Aubrey fell for him. And it was a delight to read that the instant attraction was mutual. I enjoyed how sweet both guys were and found their excitement at getting to know each other addictive. I would have enjoyed if the plot was a little deeper – possibly being able to see more of the wildfires going on and more of the action/conflict of the firefighters against the fire itself. While I immensely enjoyed the story, I felt the loss of not having a strong conflict in the plot itself.

There was nothing missing, though, between Aubrey and Darragh. I greatly enjoyed their interactions and loved watching them come together. While there were a few chaste kisses, and some steamy looks and talking, there was no sex at all. In many ways I found this to be quite a sweet romance. Both Aubrey and Darragh take their time and both are happy to move slowly as they build something lasting and worthwhile. Readers looking to dip their toes into M/M romance, or who like a softer style of story should really enjoy this. I’d happily recommend it to friends who like their romance steamy but in no way explicit or spicy.

I feel this is a lighthearted, emotional and very heartfelt story. I loved the happy ending and greatly enjoyed reading about Aubrey and Darragh.
