This novel was an across-the-board entertaining read. The plot consisted of a steady pace that took this reader on an adventure that left me riveted to my seat until the end. There were two specific scenes where I expected a dramatic plot twist yet there wasn’t one. That in itself was a startling turn of events and it made the story unpredictable. At one point I was expecting the worst case scenario and my stress was high. You have no idea of the vast wave of relief I felt when it didn’t occur. Since reviews are a matter of opinion, someone else might be disappointed with that writing style but I wasn’t. I experienced plenty of anxiety provoking plot lines throughout the story to make up for it.

This book is actually Charles R Darner, Jr.’s second book. The main characters are the same in both books, however, each can be read as a standalone. I was pleased with the addition of the new cast members. The author provided just enough character development to keep the story going without me getting lost or confused.

My husband often says to get my head out of my books, that they aren’t real. I know they are make-believe but sometimes I have to wonder, how real could it be? How many times has fiction turned into fact? I have a new perspective when I see a Coast Guard helicopter fly over the beach.

I enjoyed reading Narco-Submarine, Cartel’s Silent Service and look forward to the next installment in this series. I’m interested in finding out how Sarah and Jarratt met. I recommend this book to other readers that like action/adventure. It sure kept me turning the pages.

It would have been nice to have more character development. While the various women who owned Bonfyre did make changes in their lives, there wasn’t as much time devoted to exploring why these changes happened as I would have liked to see. Given the wide variety of problems they dealt with, this was surprising. There was so much space here to show how ordinary people can transform their lives in marvellous ways, but it wasn’t explored very deeply at all.

Some of the best scenes involved acts of true human kindness. Whether the characters involved in it had been friends for years or had met five minutes beforehand, it was heartwarming to see just how far they’d go to help someone who desperately needed it without any expectation of reciprocation or reward. That’s something I could read about all day and never grow tired of. It’s so wholesome.

The other thing I would have liked to see developed more fully were the conflicts in this tale. As mentioned earlier, these characters dealt with pretty serious issues in many cases. It came as a surprise to me see how quickly and easily their problems were solved. While it happened more than once, this was especially true when it came to the domestic violence subplot. As much as I wish we all lived in a world where abuse could be permanently resolved this fast, knowing that this generally isn’t the case pulled me out of the storyline because of how unrealistic it is for most victims.

I enjoyed the fact that the paranormal elements were allowed to simply exist without the need to dig into how they worked or why they attached themselves to a convertible. Bonfyre was an incredibly special vehicle that brought good things into the lives of everyone who owned it. Sometimes readers really only need a basic understanding of why impossible things are happening, and this was one of them.

Bonfyre should be read by anyone who loves seeing storylines tied up neatly and happily.

Ms. Soleil had a marvellous way with words, especially when it came to capturing small moments in life that could easily be forgotten either purposefully due to how difficult they were or accidentally due to how quickly they passed by. Based on my first impression of her writing style, I’m going to be keeping an eye out for anything she writes in the future.

I adored how realistic the storyline felt. Obviously, the science fiction elements couldn’t happen in our world, but everything else genuinely felt like it was being recounted by Neala herself. There was a time about twenty pages into it that I stopped reading and googled it to see if any of the characters or plot twists were based on things that truly happened. That was how convincing it was!

One thing I did need to adjust to when I first began reading this tale was how much it jumped around from past to present and from one topic to the next. While it did require a little bit of patience in the beginning as I grew used to it, there were excellent reasons why it was written that way. I’m glad I relaxed into the flow of the scenes and allowed them to take me where they wanted to go.

Neala was a loveable and relatable protagonist. Her social anxiety and tendency to put herself down for making the smallest errors in life gave me the urge to hug her. If only she could have seen what a kind and wonderful person she was! She was so much harder on herself than anyone else would ever be. More than anything, I wanted her to realize that and not worry so much. Honestly, she was miles ahead of where she thought she was in her personal development.

Limbo Jubilee was truly delightful. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

While I liked them together, it sure would have been nice to know what they saw in each other that made them develop those feelings so rapidly other than their mutual physical attraction. This became even more true once I realized that Ethan was only going to be narrating a small portion of the scenes in this story. I sure would have liked to get to know him as well as I did Jessie.

While it was a minor part of the storyline, I really enjoyed the scenes set in Jessie’s candle shop. Her interactions with her customers felt realistic. She seemed to understand retail and had built up good relationships with the folks who came to her for advice on what to purchase from her shop. These small moments went a long way in giving readers new insights into her personality and value system.

Magick & Moonlight was a short, lighthearted read that made me smile.

In “June 6–June 13: The Inflatable Dragon,” an elderly man named John booked a week at the beach house in order to get away from his adult children who were trying to force him to move into a nursing home. There was so much more room here for character development, from the parents’ stubbornness to a much deeper exploration of what happened to this little girl and why the police reacted the way that they did to the conclusion to the case.

Dan and his family watched at home in horror as a hurricane threatened to destroy the beach house they’d been visiting every summer for many years in “September 26—October 3: As Seen from a Safe Place.” Seeing them revisit old, happy memories about their previous trips there only made me more curious to see if their vacation spot would survive the storm and if their family could gather together there again. I greatly enjoyed getting to know Troy and Dee’s characters better as they learned about each other and found this really helped even out the pacing of the story as a whole and made it a lot more logical and relatable. Troy had a little bit of a hidden (even to himself, I believe) streak of submissive in him. Readers who aren’t a fan of BDSM shouldn’t be put off by this – I felt the handling of that side to the story was given a very light touch and I was pleased with this because it added an extra element to the story – and the sex in particular – but it didn’t detract from the main element of the romance and relationship building between Troy and Dee.

There’s a small but very strong cast of secondary characters – primarily surrounding Troy’s family members. Readers should be aware that one of the smaller sub-plots involves Troy’s much younger sister being in a difficult situation. While I personally found it tastefully and sensitively handled and this is a very, very small part of the story I feel some of the issues raised might be polarizing or difficult for other readers to have addressed in a steamy, erotic story.

While this is the third book in the series (Troy is the eldest of triplet boys and the previous two stories revolve around these two brothers) I easily picked this up by itself and had no problems happily following along despite not reading the other two books. I got a good kick out of Troy’s family members and felt they added some much-needed depth and dimension to the story and I was pleased with the added plot they all lent which helped keep the book from being purely about Troy and Dee and their relationship.

While very heavy on the sexual element between the two men I found myself really enjoying this story and read it very quickly. Readers who enjoy a lot of sex and passion in their stories – along with a light bit of kink and a side-dish of family shenanigans should find this a fun and interesting sexy read. I enjoyed this story and it will be going on my keeper shelf, for sure.

The story takes a clever turn at the end that has my fingers crossed that there are more Boston Irish mob stories coming from this author. Naturally Killian needs to meet his match but I would really love to see someone take down Declan just for kicks.

The author built in a crazy heart wrenching back story for Liam. I knew from clues that it had to have been bad but that doesn’t even begin to describe it. It made him finding his HEA all the sweeter a reward.

Readers who love a growly Alpha male matched with a sharp witted queen bee, should give this one a read. There’s so much heat and fire when these two come together, be prepared to burn right along with them. Really good story!

Myrtle was a well rounded and likeable main character. I appreciated the fact that she wasn’t always confident in her decisions, whether they were small ones like what to eat while trying to trim up or big ones like which clues to follow in the case of her aunt’s mysterious death. Seeing her struggle in this area made her feel relatable to me. She seemed like a perfectly ordinary person in the very best sense of that phrase.

One of the most interesting parts of the storyline had to do with Myrtle’s family tree. She was adopted by Aunt Eve as a young child. Luckily, her aunt had a great deal of information about where their ancestors came from and what sort of folks they were. It was fascinating to get to know their family better. While I sure did wonder why Myrtle wasn’t taught many of these things early in life due to her aunt’s obvious attraction to the subject, I’m hoping that any sequels will dive into this topic on a deeper level. There was definitely a lot of space left to explore here.

This book had a large cast of characters that Ms. Hansen did a fantastic job of keeping organized for the audience. While I did take notes of who everyone was and how they were connected to each other, the storyline itself provided prompts about this when necessary as well. I always knew who everyone was, and that’s important when there are a lot of characters running around whose relationships with one another are crucial in order to understand what’s going on.
