Teasingly warned she was languishing inside a dull existence, Harlow Phillips deviated just once from her calm environment. Had she known what madness would greet her just an hour into ignoring instincts screaming to “get gone and go home,” would she have taken a different path? Stayed on the couch? Ignored the cab honking at the curb? Had placing herself inside a horrifying situation turn out to be the only road to happiness? How is that even possible? Why would the universe be that simultaneously cruel and beautiful?

Not one for accepting silly bets, Jagger Cayce ignored the internal warning and stepped out of his comfort zone to prove a point. Mired inside the four walls of a world that wasn’t his cup of tea, he held strong and finished the thirty-minute mess of being stared at with opened-mouthed wonder. But the night wasn’t fully done with him quite yet. The real action waited for him under the stars and would beckon him toward a goal he was willing to sacrifice everything to achieve.

Was a simple, casual glance proof of the cosmos aligning the stars or just a happy accident? Who knows? Hop into Jagger and Harlow’s fast-paced adventure and learn why it might be extremely important to pay attention when finding yourself drawn to a stranger amongst many.

To say that Celeste Prater’s A Casual Glance is a fast-paced mystery is a VAST understatement. Keeping up with the action of Harlow Phillips and Jagger Cayce was like running a marathon with no training, but the story itself was easy enough to follow.

From the moment they meet, their paths intertwine in a seamlessly fated way that while thrilling in concept, lacked a bit of reality in execution. Jagger Cayce is the perfect man who says all the right things, a fantasy that Harlow and I can’t wrap our heads around. But when he proves himself time and time again, will she start to believe she is worth the effort?

The story itself did have all of the elements I typically look for in an erotic romance novel. Incredibly tantalizing erotic scenes, a full circle plotline, and excellent use of descriptive imagery. It was just hard for me to wrap my head around the absolute perfection that the world of the novel offered me. Despite this, the mystery behind the plot kept the book moving, each turn of a page offering a new danger or surprise. Even though Harlow and Jagger held a lot of reservations when it came to dating in the past, upon their meeting they throw all caution to the wind making their story the genuine article of “love at first sight”.

The steamy sensual scenes were plentiful in quantity as quality, charting in at the top of the Scoville scale with each new sexual encounter! The chemistry shared between Harlow and Jagger is absolutely undeniable in the bedroom.

If you love the thrill of the chase, and the idea of a man just immediately tossing off the idea of any other woman in the name of true love, then A Casual Glance by Celeste Prater just may be the book for you.

This is the last book in the trilogy.

Part 3 of Rise of the Fire Witch is about Janie, Larissa’s best friend from the Coma. I am absolutely ecstatic about the possible romance between Janie and Arto, one of the Stone Sentries. Part 3 showed more of the Sentries, like how they work and live. Larissa learned what life with the Sentries would be like. The Secondary characters were a blast, especially Arto. I am hoping for more of Arto and Janie. Hoping.

In this story, Janie gets kidnapped. Everyone works together to get her back. Larissa learns more about her powers and the compound as well as the other mates who live there.

Despite the length of this book, there has never come one moment where I was either bored or had no idea what happened. It was an action and magic packed trilogy that kept me on my toes. I finished the book in less than 3 days, which was a surprise for me.

I enjoyed how this story was short enough to read to youngsters, but still had a solid plot and a lesson for adults to help impart to children. I feel this gentle but important moral should help teach children about being fair, showing tolerance and not taking revenge when others treat them wrong. This lesson was repeated a few times – shown with the red and orange ladybugs, the toads and the frogs, then the squirrels and the chipmunks.

I thought it quite important how even though Ollie got frustrated when the garden animals wouldn’t listen to him and get along, Ollie persevered until playing with his own friends gave him an idea on how to sort his own problems out. While Ollie admittedly showed a maturity and wisdom well beyond his young years – I feel the delivery and lesson showcased throughout the story is a vital one for youngsters and is one well-deserved on repeating over and over.

The brightly colored pictures and easily-relatable style of the story should hopefully keep kids both entertained – but also help them learn the important life-lesson being portrayed here.

Fun and a lovely short read, this is an excellent book with a great moral.

How far would you go for freedom?

The action scenes were well written and exciting. I especially liked the portions of the plot that described the battles that went on between the students and Heelers who were essentially a form of law enforcement for these schools. There were some pretty intense moments in these fights, and I couldn’t wait to see how everything would turn out.

I would have liked to see more world building in this novella. There wasn’t a great deal of time spent describing what Trinity, the boarding school where Noah and other children in this society lived between the age of five and eighteen, was like. Having a firm understanding of how kids were treated there was crucial for me to understand why Noah and his friends were so quick to revolt when they found out what had really happened to their missing classmates. The basic framework for a compelling story were definitely there. I simply needed concrete details to help me make the leap from what appeared to be a fairly contented life for them to outright revolution.

The dialogue felt natural to me. It was interesting to see how the characters’ speaking patterns changed depending on how much danger they were in at the moment. They went from speaking full sentences to getting their points across as quickly and quietly as possible. That’s exactly how people tend to react in frightening situations in real life in my experience, so it was nice to see it represented in fiction, too.

Anyone who loves gun battles and action in general should give Outrun Battlefuture a shot, pun intended.

Ardie and West have been best friends since the first day of grade two. Through all the highs and lows, the laughter and tears that life brings the men remain friends – the bond formed on that first day never wavering. And when West eventually calls as his life shatters, Ardie doesn’t hesitate, leaving behind his farm and siblings to be there to help pick up the pieces, to remind West of the simple family love that’s been constant throughout each of their lives.

This is an absolutely amazing story. Readers who love a long, slow drop into love, particularly those “friends to lovers” style of story should find – as I did – that this one is just perfect. A little over the first half of this book shows Ardie and West’s friendship, life and love from the beginning. At first I was a bit nervous, worried the background would bog down the story – but I feel the author did a really amazing job managing to balance this side to the story.

The pace moved fast enough that I didn’t feel in a hurry to get to the present day – where West calls Ardie for help – but instead this helped show the rock-solid foundation of friendship and life that the two men had together. It showed them growing up from boys into men and led us on the paths their lives each took. Woven throughout all this was the friendship – and love – that carried the men through the usual highs and lows of a lifetime. I particularly loved how there wasn’t drama merely for the sake of it – Ardie and West’s lives each held plenty of peaks and troughs and this was ample conflict, plot and tension, the solidness of their friendship, the unwavering love and support didn’t need mis-communications or drama or angst to make it interesting and vibrant and I am so very glad the author kept away from those kinds of tropes.

While the first half of the book focused on how the boys became men and reached their early thirties in life, this slow romantic pace felt just right for such a lovely full length novel. It gave me as the reader time to really relax and enjoy and get hooked on each man. This is the first book in a very long time – months for sure, if not the whole year – that had me reading long into the night and finishing it in one sitting. It was addictive in the most wonderful sense and I simply couldn’t stop and put it down to go to sleep. When West finally reaches rock bottom and calls Ardie, the second half of the story shines even brighter than the first. I was particularly pleased the two men – after a lifetime of being there for each other, supporting and helping one another and loving each other – didn’t simply fall into bed. Their pace increased, sure, but it was still natural, logical and so realistic I wish I knew them for real because it was just a beautiful, wonderful story.

Readers looking for something kinky or crammed full of sex won’t find that here. This book is one of those rare gems that, sure has some smoking hot M/M sex, but is full of all the other wonderful aspects of a solid romance. There’s a large and strong cast of secondary characters, primarily Ardie’s family and a few important people coming and going in West’s life. There is the wonderful road of two lives – similar but different and inextricably woven together forever. There is laughter and tears and so much joy and love it makes me want to burst and go right back to the start immediately and re-experience it all over again.

This is a wonderful, heartfelt and amazing story, one that is absolutely going onto my keeper shelf and one I can most strongly recommend.

A selection of short stories and poems from many universes.

There’s a little bit of everything here for teens of all ages.

This unique collection was arranged into three sections. The first one shared stories that didn’t have endings, the second was a series of vignettes about the same group of characters, and the third was mostly composed of poetry. I felt obliged to clarify this since the blurb hinted at it but didn’t go into specifics.

People had to top store cialis on line resort to suction pumps.
Given that this was my first experience with the author’s writing style, I enjoyed getting a sort of sampling platter of the many different sorts of things they write. They’re the sort of author who seems pretty quite jumping between genres. With that being said, it was a little jarring as a reader to be introduced to so many different types of characters without having resolutions for most of them. I’d be a little hesitant about who I recommended this to because of that. Many people prefer more closure than what was offered here, and I do think that hampered the storytelling after a while because of how unusual this stylistic choice was.

Opening scenes are some of my favorite things to read as well as to write. There’s a real art in explaining enough about a world to draw the reader’s attention in without giving away too many details about what might happen next. I was intrigued by all of the beginnings in this first section and would have liked to see where they ended up. There was definitely a lot of room here for character and plot development as readers only got a brief taste of each scene before moving onto a new one in a different universe. It sure would have been helpful to get to know these characters and their conflicts better. I liked what I saw, but I didn’t get to see a lot of it.

“We Few Old Souls” was the name of the short stories that followed the same group of friends as they took care of each other after accidents and tried to figure out why they all kept being reincarnated and finding each other. This was by far the most interesting section to me. I was fascinated by their various lifetimes and had so many theories about why these characters were destined to meet up again no matter who they were in their latest lives.

The poetry was filled with wonder and emotion. I particularly enjoyed “An Ode to Langston Hughes.” Not only was it written in a style similar to the one this poet used, the subject matter was as timeless as his work, too. These patterns were repeated with the rest of the poems as well. They had conversational styles that made me smile.

Tales From an Odd Mind should be read by anyone who is in the mood for something creative.

As an ex-military man, Mason appears to be the perfect PA, and even though Stone is blind, he knows when he’s attracted to a man and Mason is just what Stone wants.

I enjoyed this lovely short story. While I didn’t find the speed with which Stone began to trust Mason to be very realistic I was pleased with the chemistry the two men had from the start. Keeping in mind both that this is an erotic romance and a short story, I couldn’t really fault the author for the overall pace of the relationship.

Where I found this story really excelled was in the day-to-day aspect of Stone and Mason growing together and learning the differences between their lives and seeing how they meshed together. Things like Stone focused a lot more on sounds and scents – giving Mason a different perspective on “seeing” the world. It was also lovely, of course, to see Stone trust Mason and get to “see” the world through his descriptions and comments.

I have to admit, at points the similarities between the two men’s name (Stone and Mason are so similar at least in my mind, both referencing a rock/brick/concrete/hard surface etc) that while they were two very distinct and different characters, the similar reference at least in my mind meant I mixed them up a number of times – which truthfully surprised me a little as that almost never happens to me. It’s a tiny niggle – and one that might just be me and my brain being odd – but it happened a number of times throughout the story so I presume at least some other readers may experience a similar thing.

The sex between the men was also smoking hot and deliciously explicit which helped the story speed along at a super fast pace. There is a lot of sex – perhaps as much as half of the story – which I feel readers should expect in an explicit romance story like this. Personally, I felt this was balanced with the growing relationship between the two men, but there wasn’t a lot of plot outside of this so readers looking for a convoluted or layered and deep story might want to consider this.

Romantic and emotional I found this to be a lovely story and despite a few quibbles about how fast it all happened and how very well the two men connected, this was a strongly written and really lovely story. Readers who like heroes that aren’t the cookie-cutter standard mould and relationships that are emotional and heart-felt should adore this story as much as I did.
