An underlying theme in this book is that war is not good and that differences can be overcome if one tries hard enough. The characters are strong, the action moves along quickly and surely, and danger lurks at every corner.

When the two princes meet accidently during their wartime adventures, both hiding in the same cave, the give and take between the two enemies forges the beginnings of a friendship. You see the tension, the fear, the uncertainty between the two sworn enemies. And you see them begin to realize that working together will be better than trying to succeed on their own.

This action-packed adventure is a good read. You aren’t really sure how it’s all going to turn out with so much mutual hate and mistrust. There may be a sequel – there’s more that could be explored in this world of cats and men.

She has always been one of my favorite characters in this series so I was happy that she seemed to get quite a bit of story time in this book. He is a character that I always wanted to read more about and I finally got my wish. Of all Zoey’s male followers he quickly won my heart. He is the only one who seems to really understand Zoey and want her happiness and safety above his own. In my opinion it was great to see so much of these two characters and I hope we continue to see them more and more.

The story line with Stevie Rae was also a good one. I liked the direction these authors are taking her in, not only with Rephaim, but also the other Red fledglings that are out of control. Add in the twist with Damien at the end and you cannot help but feel bad for poor Stevie Rae. The poor girl has so much on her plate!

The only negative thing I really have to say about this book and a few others in the series, is that the development of the story drags in some places. We keep getting introduced to so many conflicts within each story without really getting any conclusion from the already existing ones. The authors introduce four or five new conflicts while only concluding one or two.

This series always keeps me on the edge of my seat. From book one, Zoey and her pack has amused me. After finishing this story you can tell this series is far from over, so I look forward to more from this authors.

He is a paraplegic and has sort of lost his inspiration, until Knife falls into his lap. Paul is kind and gentle which is why Knife has such a hard time trying to figure out why everyone hates humans. The faery Queen comes off a bit shady and I really had my doubts about her, but she is not as bad as I first thought.

The weakest part of this story, in my opinion, has to be the middle because it has a bit too much description and not enough forward movement. It was to the point that it slowed down the pace and pulled me from the story. But, once I got over the slump it went quickly and was a pleasant read through to the end.

Faery Rebels: Spell Hunter was a quick, enjoyable middle grade book that I would recommend to anyone who loves books about Fae. I give it 3.5 out of 5 suns.

Everything fit perfectly.

The end of the book led me to believe there is a sequel and I shall be eagerly looking for this. Thank you Ms. Tee for providing me with a story I’ll remember for quite some time.

Again, Daisy is the center of the story, but because if the issues with her father, we meet her sisters Rose and Poppy. I loved the two of them because they rounded her out and made her more believable. I wanted to see a bit more character development, but there is so much else going for this story that the troublesome spots aren’t enough to trip up the reader.

If you want a book that’s part popularity contest, part angst and a whole lot of ‘wow, did that just happen?’, then you need to read Dead is So Last Year. I give it 4 suns.

In the hotly anticipated ninth installment of the Young Wizards series, Kit and Nita become part of an elite team investigating the mysterious “message in a bottle,” which holds the first clues to the secrets of the long-lost inhabitants of Mars. Teenage wizards involved with recent discoveries on Mars now want to take the next step. Kit and Nita are in the forefront of the investigations. Kit finds himself drawn to Mars by a compulsion he is unable to resist. The young wizards work on opening the capsule or “message in a bottle” they have found. Both youngsters and their older mentors feel the capsule could hold the answer to the disappearance of the species who used to live on Mars.

This book is attention grabbing. The reader is never quite sure what is going to happen next. For instance the young wizards meet up with Earth’s Planetary Wizard, a young woman who comes complete with parrot and baby. The young wizards are ordinary teenagers with the usual ups and downs associated with that age, but with the added ability of wizardry. A Wizard of Mars introduced me to a rich, descriptive world of Mars, both now and in the distant past. The story moved quickly from one scene to another, but slowed at just the right time to enable total absorption of what was happening. There is humor, adventure, magic and even a sinister undertone to the reasons behind the disappearance and reappearance of the ancient Martian inhabitants.

This is not the first of the Young Wizard Series. I shall certainly look out for the other eight to find out what happens before the events that have unfolded in this, the ninth book.

First and foremost, there is a lot going on in this story. There is a multitude of characters to keep straight and a strained love triangle that still needs a bit of ironing—but if it all went smoothly, there’d be no action, angst, or story.

The issue threading through the series is perfect Elena’s seesawing decisions to love Stefan or Damon. I can identify with her dilemma. Stefan tends to get swept away and needs her rescuing. He also is very beta to her alpha and that got tiresome after a bit. But then there’s Damon. The bad boy is very, very bad, yet it’s so good. I can see the attraction to his dark moodiness, but there’s his bloodlust and ill will that gets in the way of his sexiness. And every time Stefan’s away, Elena feels the pull to Damon. What a conundrum—which brother to love.

Although there are bits of dialogue that seems stilted and still a bit of soap boxing, the story is worth the read. But be prepared for the ending. I didn’t see it coming and it totally saved the book for me. The ending is a real breath taker.

If you like moody antagonists, doting heroes, and strong heroines, then you need to read The Return: Shadow Souls. I give it 3 suns.
