The love triangle between Cassidy, Tristan, and Keefe is very well done. I really had no idea who Cassidy would choose. Both men are smart, attractive and completely devoted to Cassidy. Keefe is sweet and romantic. Tristan has known Cassidy most of her life and they share a deep bond of friendship that has always hovered on the edge of romance. It is clearly a tough decision, and I was really looking forward to reading how she would choose between men who seemed evenly matched. Unfortunately, something happens towards the end that makes Cassidy’s choice incredibly easy. In fact, I’d say that the actions of one of the characters took the decision out of her hands entirely. I found this a little disappointing. However, I will say that I think she ended up with the right guy, and the ending was very romantic.

The Fearful Heart has several entertaining secondary characters. I particularly enjoyed Cassidy’s roommate Billie and her odd romance with Ethan, a very large football player. I do wish that Ava, Cassidy’s nemesis, had been a bit more rounded. Most of her exchanges with Cassidy didn’t feel natural, and I thought the dialog between them was a little stilted. I will say that the end of the story hinted at more depth to Ava’s character, but it was almost too little too late.

Overall, I enjoyed reading The Fearful Heart. Cassidy is a lovely young woman I’d be proud to call my friend, and I truly enjoyed watching her try to sort out her relationships with two interesting men. Fans of contemporary romance might want to check it out.

I do wish the relationship between Marion and Vlad had been explored more. Despite this issue, I think that Vlad and Marion make an interesting couple. Marion strikes me as a no nonsense sort of woman whose patience can only be pushed so far. Vlad seems a little arrogant and entitled, but I have a feeling that Marion knows just how to get under his skin. Her reaction to his declaration of love had me laughing out loud.

I think that the conflict between Marion and Vlad was resolved too quickly. Given the way Vlad had been behaving, I definitely think that Marion should have let him stew a while longer. This would have drawn the tension out and added just a bit more suspense to the story. As it was, everything was wrapped up very quickly and felt a little rushed.

Overall, I enjoyed reading My Fair Vampire. Marion and Vlad are fun, and their story is quick and easy to read. Anyone looking for a fast paranormal romance to fill up a few spare moments should check it out.

However, I found it interesting that she is not willing to take the same risks in regard to her heart. Even though her attraction to Seth is clear to everyone around them, Kam stubbornly refuses to acknowledge her own feelings. I did appreciate Seth and Kam’s antagonistic banter, but at a certain point, I just wanted her to be honest about her feelings.

Whether Kam wants to admit it or not, Seth is a good match for her. He’s every bit as smart and strong as she is, and he’s willing to let her have the freedom she craves regarding her career. I must give Seth credit for his patience with Kam. He never pressures her, but he wasn’t shy about letting her know how he felt. I found his direct manner refreshing, and it was easy to hope that he and Kam would find a way to be together.

Elvenrude sounds like a beautiful place secluded from the noise and pollution of the human world. I could clearly picture the tree houses and the natural beauty of the land. I found the elves obsession with human gadgets amusing. Things like coffee, bikes, and electronics are commonplace in the human world, but are novelties for the elves. It was interesting to watch the elves try to maintain a balance between their world and the human world and see what they deemed acceptable and what they thought had the potential to corrupt.

I do think the ending was a little odd. After so much build up concerning who was behind the portal disturbances, I think the reveal of the mastermind was rushed and a bit anticlimactic. I also wanted more explanation concerning this character’s motivations. Despite this issue, I still found it satisfying to see the villain brought to justice.

Overall, I think Cross Keys is a good book. Kam and Seth make a good team, and I enjoyed watching them work together to solve the mystery. I recommend Cross Keys to anyone who likes fantasy with a modern twist.

Whether it is a ghost seeking justice or a hired thug, Jessie takes everything thrown at her in stride and always remains focused on her mission of discovering the truth. While it is very easy to like Jessie, I do think she is too perfect. Literally everyone in town likes her, except the villains she was attempting to unmask. I understand that some people have magnetic personalities, but I think Jessie would have seemed more real to me if she would have had more flaws.

Jessie’s only flaw seems to be her desire to control everything in her life. Romance wasn’t something she was looking for, and certainly not with Matt, a bossy detective. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Matt and Jessie’s relationship, or lack thereof. They truly seem to get on each other’s nerves and most of their exchanges end in arguments. In private, they both profess to find the other attractive, but it takes a while for this to become evident in their actions. Even though I would have liked to see more tender interactions between them, I still enjoyed watching them slowly grow into a good couple.

The suspense regarding how and when Jessie and Matt put all the clues together was very well done. Ms. Morrison did an excellent job of revealing the puzzle piece by piece through Jessie’s investigative work. Though Jessie and Matt are both very smart, they almost didn’t solve the mystery before it was too late. I had some suspicions regarding one of the last hidden members of The Harvest Club, but I can honestly say I wasn’t completely sure until the very end.

Overall, I enjoyed reading The Harvest Club. The pacing is well done, and Jessie is a smart and sweet heroine. I recommend it to anyone looking for a mystery that alternates effortlessly between being chilling and heartwarming.

Isabelle certainly is in a predicament. Consequently, I thought the chemistry between fell a little flat for a majority of the story. This does improve a little bit toward the end as Ali opens up a bit, and Isabelle slowly learns to trust him.

There are several villains at work in this tale, and I’m honestly not sure who the worst one is. Isabelle’s employers are truly terrible and have no redeeming qualities. The Governor is a dark figure as well, but he doesn’t seem to be entirely bad. Even though he has little regard for human life, he does seem to care for his wife and her daughters. However, the Governor definitely has some evil plans regarding the French. While I was certain his ultimate goal wouldn’t be accomplished, I couldn’t help but wonder if Isabelle would be a victim of one of his schemes.

Overall, I thought A Savage Exile was a good book. Isabelle is likable heroine, and I enjoyed watching her make the best of a bad situation. Anyone who enjoys historical romance with a paranormal twist might want to check it out.

When I started reading, I expected her to be a bit self absorbed. However, Valeria is a very kind and endearing young woman. Even though she doesn’t have much worldly experience, she genuinely cares for people of every station and tries to help others in need. Valeria doesn’t lack courage when it comes to facing difficult situations. Unfortunately, her practical knowledge is certainly deficient. I give her credit for learning how to handle herself in the wild and being humble enough to know when she needed help. Taran’s unexpected appearance in her life challenges everything she’s ever known about the world. Her eyes are quickly opened to the fact that Roman society is far from perfect. I enjoyed watching her learn to think for herself and grow from a fragile girl into a strong woman.

Valeria and Taran are a bit of an odd couple. Despite coming from completely different backgrounds, they have an almost immediate connection. Even though they find themselves in several intense situations, I like that they were still able to take time to get to know each other. They have great chemistry that sizzles with each encounter. Unfortunately, Taran and Valeria’s union will not go unopposed. The elders of Taran’s tribe aren’t about to let a Roman enter their community without serious consideration. Will Valeria survive the challenge or lose Tarn forever?

I think Ms. Jarecki paced the tale very well. There was plenty of fast paced action interspersed with some slower sections. In addition, several situations had rather surprising outcomes. Just when I thought I knew how things would play out, Ms. Jarecki threw in a twist or two. This kept the story fresh and interesting without seeming too farfetched.

Rescued by the Celtic Warrior is an entertaining read. Valeria and Taran are great main characters and their romance is certainly compelling. I recommend this tale of love and courage to fans of historical romance.

Her self esteem needs a bit of a boost. She’s never considered herself attractive, so Duncan’s attentions catch her off guard. She wants to believe she can have a future with him, but she has some serious doubts. Despite her self esteem issues, Isabel is definitely not a damsel in distress. She manages to survive in unbelievably harsh situations determined to fight until her last breath. On top of all that, she can more than hold her own when faced with a strong man like Duncan. It is easy to admire and cheer for such a strong woman.

Isabel and Duncan definitely have an instantaneous connection, and I must admit I’m usually a little skeptical concerning love at first sight. However, the chemistry Ms. Kelly created between Isabel and Duncan is so well done, and the circumstances these characters find themselves in are so extreme that I was easily able to suspend my disbelief and believe their romance was genuine. The intensity of Isabel and Duncan’s feelings fit the fast pace of the story perfectly.

A Woman of Honour is thoroughly entertaining. Isabel and Duncan’s story is compelling and almost impossible to put down once started. I recommend it to anyone looking for an intense, fast paced historical romance.

When Max receives a package with a cryptic message, he knows Andra is the only person in the world who can help him crack the code. I found it a little odd that Max would fly all the way to Hong Kong knowing absolutely nothing about what he’s getting in to. However, it soon became clear that Max and Andra can’t resist the opportunity to decipher a message in an obscure language. Max’s main motivation seems to be his desire to see Andra in person, which again seemed like a bit of a stretch. While the contents of the package appear innocent, Andra and Max soon find themselves the target of a ruthless man who will do anything to stop them. Again, I found it odd that Max and Andra were willing to risk their lives for something they know very little about. However, the deeper they delve into the puzzle, the more intriguing it becomes. Like Max and Andra, I wanted to know the reason they received the package.

I must say that the relationship between Andra and Max never felt real to me. They have worked together before, but they have never met face to face. Ms. Kennie provides very little detail about their shared past. They are likable and realistic characters with the potential for good chemistry, but without more details concerning their connection, I just didn’t find their romance very genuine or compelling.

Ms. Kennie did an excellent job of pacing Legacy of Fear. The urgency of Andra and Max’s situation permeates every page of the story. Like Max and Andra, I was kept on my toes wondering where the next clue would lead and how the story would unfold. I can’t say much without spoiling the story, but I will say that I found the history of a secondary character particularly interesting.

Overall, I liked Legacy of Fear. It is a well paced book that can easily be read in one sitting. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good suspense.

The last couple years of Anne’s life have been filled with hardship and tragedy. When she returns to Legend, all Anne wants is some tranquility and time to heal. If anyone deserves a long rest, it is Anne. Pete is the last person she expected to see in her hometown. Pete’s reappearance in her life is problematic. His presence forces her to face some things in her past she’d rather forget. Does Anne have the courage to face the past, or will she let her second chance slip through her fingers?

I have to admit that I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Anne and Pete at first. It was clear from the start that Pete was attracted to Anne, but I wasn’t sure how she felt until much later. I do wish there had been more interaction between them. While I knew how Pete felt, it was hard to get a real sense of their chemistry because they didn’t spend much time together. In fact, Anne seemed intent on avoiding Pete because of something painful in their shared past. Despite this issue, I did enjoy watching the town of Legend work its magic on this reluctant couple.

Ms. Scott did an excellent job at slowly revealing the past connection between Anne and Pete. Anne’s past is certainly painful, but as I read, it became clear that there was much more to it then I first realized. Ms. Scott left a trail of clues that seemed to point in a heartbreaking direction, but the situation wasn’t quite what it seemed. The conclusion was very surprising and even a little refreshing. I no doubt that Anne will now be able to fully heal and open her heart to new possibilities.

I enjoyed reading Second Chances. Anyone looking for a fast yet heartwarming romance should give Second Chances a try.

I eagerly dove into the pages of this story wondering if Mariah would be able to solve the mystery surrounding Cailen and his knights before it was too late.

I must say I think Ms. Peterson’s interpretation of ghosts is interesting. I found the social lives of the ghosts particularly entertaining. These ghosts aren’t content to simply haunt the castle. They attend parties and make friends in their afterlife. I could clearly picture ghosts from various centuries dancing the night away.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Mariah and Cailen get to know each other. Even though they had an immediate connection, I’m glad that they were able to spend time together as a couple. Their circumstances are certainly unusual, but I think they work around the limitations posed by Cailen being a ghost very well.

I do wish some of the secondary characters had been a bit more rounded. Some of the other knights had a lot of potential to be interesting secondary characters, but this never really happened. The other knights stayed in the background for the most part. I also wanted to know more about the villain of the story. It is clear that this character wasn’t always bad. I wanted to know more about what set them on such a terrible path.

I enjoyed watching the mystery of unfold bit by bit through dreams and memories of various characters. Ms. Peterson built the suspense by gradually revealing one small piece of the puzzle at a time. I will admit that the pacing was a little slow at times. However, my patience was rewarded. The conclusion of this tale is definitely intense and had me on the edge of my seat.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Spirit of the Knight. Ms. Peterson’s ghosts are fun and entertaining, and Mariah and Cailen make a great couple. Fans of paranormal romance would do well to pick up a copy of Spirit of the Knight today.
