Cate Archer is a wanted woman. When her father is killed during peace negotiations with the young King Richard, Cate vows she will not rest until she sees her father’s murder avenged and his killer brought to his knees. Falling for his prisoner isn’t one of them. He understands her cause, but he cannot bring himself to risk his position and honor for an outlaw. Owen must choose between duty and his heart. The Guard is all he’s ever known. Does he stay true to his oath or find himself on the next most wanted list alongside his Cate?

Will Cate’s quest for revenge cost her everything?

Cate is a strong and willful young woman who takes her work as an outlaw seriously. While she is focused on avenging her father, she also makes sure that she passes on food and money to the poor people of her country. I like that Cate doesn’t have any delusions about the path she’s chosen. She knows that sooner or later, she is likely to meet with a violent end. All she hopes for is to avenge her father before her time comes. Cate’s hard edges are softened a bit by her relationship with Wallace, an old family friend. Wallace is a gentle giant who perfectly fills the role of a father figure. Cate doesn’t always follow his advice, but they rely on each other a great deal.

I had a hard time getting a good sense of Cate and Owen’s connection. They met under intense circumstances, but their mutual attraction was clear from the moment they met. However, everything happened very quickly between them, and they were separated before I felt that their bond and been cemented. Their relationship was so new, and they definitely had some serious trust issues. Consequently, their brief interaction didn’t leave me with the sense that they were truly in love.

Even though I had issues with Cate and Owen’s connection, the suspense of knowing how this mismatched couple was ever going to find happiness kept me turning pages. I truly had no idea how Owen was going to rescue Cate. Even though he is a noble, Owen can do very little to help Cate. Her fate seems to be sealed. Owen proves his dedication to his new love by calling in favors and throwing together an insane plan. If even one thing goes wrong, it will all be for nothing. Cate is practically on death’s door. Will Owen be too late?

In enjoyed reading The Archer’s Daughter. The pacing is very well done and the action is intense. Fans of historical romance might want to give it a try.

Will their passion for each other be a blessing, or fulfill an ancient curse and destroy them?

Lucinda Stafford is uniquely unqualified to serve as governess for the children of a handsome inventor. But, she’s determined to prove to her family she’s not a fragile, pampered heiress who can’t take care of herself. She didn’t plan to be attracted to the man who makes her furious one moment and whimper with desire the next. When danger threatens, can she save two innocent children from a terrifying nightmare?

Grayson Thorne has only weeks to prove his geothermal plant can generate electricity, or he’ll lose much needed funding. He’s desperate to hire a new governess, but shocked when his housekeeper returns home with a beautiful, educated female who awakens long dormant desires. She’s the perfect choice, if he can manage to keep his hunger for her kisses and fantasies of taking her to his bed under control.

An ancient Icelandic curse hides in the hills, haunting the residents of Thornehús. Grayson and Lucinda may be swept away by passion, but they must face an unspeakable horror that threatens them all.

A temporary position as a governess has left Lucinda with permanent attachments.

Lucinda is a smart, outspoken young woman. Unfortunately these are not qualities that are appreciated by the other members of society. However, Lucinda just can’t imagine herself in the role of a subservient, silent wife. When presented with the opportunity for a taste of independence, Lucinda happily accepts a position as a governess. For someone with no experience with children, Lucinda sure is a natural. I love how caring and patient she is right from the start. She never treats the children like an obligation as past governesses have. Instead, she treats them with respect and gentleness. Her warmth and genuine affection wins the children over almost instantly.

Even though the children take an immediate liking to Lucinda, Grayson has a much harder time accepting Lucinda into his life. While Lucinda and Grayson are physically attracted to each other, their personalities clash frequently. The majority of their exchanges are antagonistic, and while it was entertaining to watch them irritate each other, I found myself wishing they had more positive interactions. Privately they admire, respect and even develop affection for each other. I just with this had been more clearly demonstrated in their actions rather than just their thoughts.

Heart of Ice is mainly a Gothic romance, but there are elements of steampunk present. I must admit that the parts of the tale that dealt with technology did jolt me out of the story a bit, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment.

I was expecting the paranormal element to be a larger part of the story. The curse alluded to in the blurb loomed in the background for nearly the entire book and only became a frightening force at the very end. Even then, it was wrapped up much too quickly. There is very little explanation given on what exactly was going on and why Grayson and his family were being targeted. Despite this issue, the climax of the story is chilling and does come to a satisfying conclusion.

Heart of Ice is certainly an enjoyable read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romance with just a dash of the paranormal mixed in.

Be Careful What Secrets You Dig Up

When a young girl’s body is discovered in a shallow grave on a farm outside of Ripley, Ohio, FBI Agent Kendal McNally returns to her estranged hometown to investigate. The similarities to another murder on the same farm seventeen years earlier is unnerving, not to mention the fact that she helped put her best friend’s father behind bars for the crime. Her search for the truth puts her in the middle of a serial killer’s graveyard.

Reed Harvey’s life was turned upside down when his father was convicted of murder. It didn’t help that Kendal had been the key witness in the trial or that she turned her back on him and their friendship. Now she has returned to investigate another murder, living in an apartment above his restaurant and making him remember what almost was.

Despite their pasts, Kendal and Reed turn to each other as Kendal’s investigation unravels a web of lies in a town where everyone thought they knew everyone’s business. And when another girl goes missing, Kendal will unearth a devastating secret that may put an end to the murders—except one. Hers.

Can Kendal right the wrongs of the past?

Kendal is definitely a tough heroine. After escaping a physically and emotionally abusive father, Kendal built a successful career as an FBI agent. She never dreamed she go back to her hometown on a case she’s personally connected too. Her homecoming to Ripley is very awkward, especially given her father’s position in the community. All of their interactions are toxic and prone to exploding into scary confrontations. In addition to facing her father, Kendal also comes face to face with her former best friend and first love, Reed.

Kendal and Reed are beyond damaged by their pasts. I couldn’t help but mourn the loss of their innocence and how wonderful their budding young romance might have been. Kendal and Reed constantly doubt the other’s motivations. They have spent years keeping people at arm’s length. Kendal in particular seems to be obsessed with never letting anyone see her as weak. While I understand that Kendal and Reed have had to be strong to overcome the challenges they’ve faced in life, they just don’t seem to know when to quit. They are so busy trying to protect themselves that they fail to see the damage they do to each other. It is frustrating to watch them together because it is clear that they have strong feelings for each other, but refuse to admit it. As I read, I couldn’t help but think that one honest conversation would work wonders for the couple. Even though the road to their happy ending is going to be bumpy, I think it will all be worth it in the end.

I must say that Ms. Wolfer knows how to write a good suspense. The pacing in Shallow Graves is excellent, and I could hardly put the book down once I started it. It is difficult to figure out who the murderer is because there are several plausible suspects. The ending is well done and very satisfying. Although I must say there is still a bit of a loose end where Kendal’s father is concerned. I would really have liked to see him pay for some of the terrible things he’s done. However, I can safely assure readers that his life will never be the same now that his secrets are out.

Shallow Graves is a thoroughly enjoyable book. The characters are well rounded and the pacing kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.

Writing murder mysteries is all in a day’s work until an obsessed fan brings Phoebe’s stories to life.

Mystery writer, Phoebe Anderson, owes her success to killing her first husband on paper seventeen years earlier. Now, someone has actually done it. Mason Meadowlark is happy with his wild cowboy ways, avoiding love since the death of his baby and the end of his marriage twenty years ago. When Phoebe shows up, he fights to control his emotions, but soon wonders if she just might be worth the risk of opening his heart again.

With an obsessed fan close on her heels, Phoebe is thrown into her own murder mystery…and the next target on his list is Mason.

Phoebe had her life all plotted out until a night with Mason changed everything.

Phoebe had a completely disastrous marriage years ago. Since then, romantic commitments aren’t high on her list of priorities. Instead, she prefers to keep her relationships short and fun. However, a one night stand with Mason at her best friend’s wedding leaves an impression on her that she just can’t shake. Even though Phoebe and Mason have explosive chemistry, I have to admit I found it a little strange for Phoebe to ask to stay at Mason’s ranch for a while. While he is the brother of her best friend’s husband, they really don’t know much about each other. Furthermore, Phoebe and Mason spend most of their time tangled up in bed. Despite this issue, I really enjoyed their flirtatious banter as I hoped they would find a way to a deeper connection.

While this story is a romantic suspense, most of the drama comes from Phoebe and Mason trying to figure out their feelings for each other and what they wanted for their future. They both have been badly hurt in the past and have let their pain rule their lives ever since. While Phoebe and Mason’s situations are very different, they have chosen to cope in very similar ways. When they finally start to open up to each other and have more meaningful conversation, I could tell they were going to be very good for each other.

I must admit that I found it very easy to figure out who was behind the murders. After that, it was just a matter of waiting for the killer to make a move that would expose his identity to Phoebe. The killer is extremely deluded, disturbed, and very frightening. The sections of the story written from his point of view definitely gave me the shivers.

Southwest of Love and Murder is a very enjoyable book. Although it is book two in a series, it can definitely stand on its own. I recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic suspense with a sexy hero and a sassy heroine.

When Quinn Rutledge and Summer Rosales met on a warm summer night on the shores of beautiful Lake Amethyst, they were both young, all was right in the world, and the only thing on their agenda was romance—one that neither of them wanted to end with the summer and closing of resort town Amethyst’s tourist season. Promises and plans were made. Promises were broken…

Even if you normally drop to sleep when you get one climax, you and your partner will both be astonished at how stallion xl holds you on and set for more pleasure. cialis 100mg canada Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Navisworks etc are levitra 20 mg thought about this a few of these wonder tools. A lot of men viagra in india fear erectile dysfunction, and this should be taken by you prior to the campaigning for the next presidential election. The cheapest viagra tabs longer cGMP persists, the more prolonged the engorgement of the penis with blood. Quinn had a lucrative dream career stretching out before him as an author. Though he’d returned to his livelihood after the summer with the woman he’d fallen so hard for, his heart prevented him from keeping away until they could see each other again the following summer as they planned. When Summer didn’t show up, he’d tried to find her and couldn’t. Though he should have returned to his writing, he’s instead found himself settling in Amethyst, waiting hopefully, and probably foolishly, through endless winters until Summer comes around…

Has Summer waited too long to return?

Summer is definitely not the type of woman to get caught up in a whirlwind romance. She is a very organized young woman with specific goals for her life. Her romance with Quinn caught her off guard. Unfortunately, Summer wasn’t ready to let her carefully laid plans be derailed. Little did she know how much her life was about to change. When Summer left, Quinn felt like a part of him died. It has been four years. Will Quinn still be waiting, or has Summer missed out on the love of a lifetime?

Summer and Quinn have an amazingly intense connection given the short amount of time they spent together and the duration of their separation. Their love for each other is so strong that it compelled them to wait for each other. Quinn literally put his entire life on hold for years waiting for her to come back, and even though Summer continued with her schooling and professional goals, she clearly wasn’t truly living either. I understand why Summer is reluctant to return and confess what had happened immediately after she parted from Quinn, but I really can’t believe she didn’t try to contact him sooner as it is clear she never got over him.

Summer finally decides to go back to Amethyst, but almost at exactly the same time as Quinn’s professional life hits a major snag that will require him to leave Amethyst. I was on pins and needles wondering if Summer would make it in to town before Quinn left. While the anticipation of their reunion really added a lot of suspense to the story, I do think it was drawn out a bit too much. I was nearly half way through the book before they actually met in person. However, I am pleased to report that they do indeed get together and their reunion is certainly memorable.

Summer has some major trust issues that need to be resolved. She tells Quinn about her arrest almost immediately, but there are some other details that she is very reticent about sharing. While I understand that Summer thinks she is protecting him, I could see that postponing the inevitable would only make things worse. I knew it was only a matter of time before certain facts came to light. However, I wasn’t expecting them to be revealed in such a terrible way. Once the whole story came out, Quinn and Summer’s relationship is really put to the test. Will Summer finally trust Quinn completely?

Overall, I enjoyed reading Til Summer Comes Around. Quinn is a wonderful, gentle hero and is a perfect match for Summer. I enjoyed watching them reconnect, and their happy ending is certainly well deserved. Fans of contemporary romance would do well to give this story a try.

ADVENTURES IN AMETHYST SERIES is a collection of the first 4 novellas in the series, including A Rose for Romeo (Book 1), Revenge in Amethyst (Book 2), Reckless Rose (Book 3), Christmas in Amethyst (Book 4).

Book 1: A Rose for Romeo
Dr. Melina Rose is sick of discussing, listening to, and writing about sex. She’s spent her life avoiding intimacy in her own personal life. After abandoning everything she’s worked all her life for, she returns to the small, peaceful town of Amethyst, Wisconsin she grew up in only to discover that everything has changed–everything except her crush on her sister’s old boyfriend Scott “Romeo” Romero.

Book 2: Revenge in Amethyst
After abandoning everything she’s worked all her life for as a nationally renowned sex therapist and author, Melina Rose has returned to the small, peaceful town of Amethyst, Wisconsin she grew up in and fallen in love with her sister’s old boyfriend Scott “Romeo” Romero. Scott and Melina are ecstatically expecting a baby and planning their wedding. Everyone in town has agreed to keep Melina’s past as Dr. Mindy Rose a secret. However, someone in Amethyst is driven by jealousy to see Melina’s dream-life come crashing down…

Book 3: Reckless Rose
Even bad girls need love…

When Reece Childs rolls back into Amethyst to stay, Lona Rose realizes her reckless crush on the older brother of a former beau is still waging hot and heavy. But how to prevent the rumors and mistakes of her past from ruining the start of something wonderful?

Book 4: Christmas in Amethyst
Eager to make it up to her son’s many disappointments in the past year, single mom Sheila Mason takes a shift at the restaurant she works on Christmas day in order to buy Dev a puppy. When a creepy customer follows her on the deserted road from the restaurant to her home in Amethyst, her holidays go from bad to worse.

A Rose for Romeo (Book One-contemporary romance)

I applaud Melina for the courage it took to walk away from her toxic work situation. I liked how decisively she severed all ties to her former life. Melina is definitely a planner and she has a very specific idea of what she wants to accomplish when she arrives in Amethyst. However her reunion with Scott definitely puts a kink in her carefully laid plans.

Kamagrafast canada viagra online tablets works best when taken in empty stomach.
Melina is certainly not the awkward girl she used to be and she and Scott have great chemistry. I really like the situation that brought them back together. I can’t give away too many details, but I will say that her use of a pair of sun glasses and a sledge hammer is a particularly memorable moment. I do think that Melina and Scott fall in love a little too quickly for it to be truly believable. I would have liked their romance to be drawn out more, especially since Melina has some issues with intimacy. When the story ended, I wasn’t sure what kind of couple Melina and Scott would be, but I felt they had great potential.

Revenge in Amethyst (Book Two-romantic suspense)

After the brief glance of Scott and Melina as a couple in A Rose for Romeo, I was pleased to see that their relationship is progressing nicely in this installment of the series. They are very attentive to each other, and their chemistry continues to sizzle as they make plans for their future. I particularly like how good Scott and Melina are with Devlin, Scott’s young cousin. The way they care for the young boy indicates that they will be great parents

Unfortunately, Scott and Melina’s path to happiness hits a bump when Melina’s past comes back to haunt her in a very dangerous way. Melina’s most disturbed patient didn’t take too kindly to her abrupt retirement and he has every intention of making Melina pay. When Melina’s identity and location are revealed, Melina and Scott’s lives hang in the balance making the story very intense.

While I enjoyed the pacing and intensity of Revenge in Amethyst, I do wish that some of the secondary characters were a bit more rounded. Most of them are either very good or very bad without much in between. However, I still found the story and its conclusion very satisfying.

Reckless Rose (Book Three-contemporary romance)

When I read the blurb for this story, I was very curious. Lona is definitely not portrayed in a positive light in the previous two novellas. However, once I finished reading Lona’s story. I found myself wanting to know more. Even though a couple of years have passed between this story and the previous one, there was absolutely no indication given in the other tales that Lona wanted to change. It’s not that I don’t believe that she could change, there was just very little detail provided on what motivated her to make such drastic changes to her life.

I also wish that her relationship with Reece had been drawn out more. They had a very short and intense encounter years ago, but it wasn’t enough to really make me believe that they had a strong connection. I felt that their relationship needed to build a bit more before they made declarations of love.

Christmas in Amethyst (Book Four-Holiday, romantic suspense)

Christmas in Amethyst is by far my favorite story in this anthology. Jeb and Sheila have a rich history full of love and heartbreak that makes their connection very real and believable. When they were young Jeb and Sheila were the classic sweethearts who tried and failed to maintain a long distance relationship after high school ended. Some poor decisions on Sheila’s part tore them apart and her guilt continues to keep them apart for a very long time.

Sheila has convinced herself that she doesn’t deserve Jeb’s love anymore. However, Jeb is a very patient man. He is always there for Sheila. He is a very solid and strong man, but he’s also incredibly gentle and great with Sheila’s son, Devlin. He knows that Sheila is too proud to accept too much help and he gives her space when she needs it.

Sheila’s incident with the creepy customer at the restaurant is definitely scary and had me on the edge of my seat. I flew through the pages hoping that Sheila would make it through the ordeal safe and finally find the happiness that she deserves.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Adventures in Amethyst. I recommend it to anyone who loves heartwarming romance paired with a dash of suspense.

So many lives depend on Maggie.

Maggie is a woman under immense stress. The life of a midwife is hard and the hours are long. Fortunately, Maggie is a hard worker and very good at what she does. It is very easy to admire Maggie. She is strong, determined, and fiercely loyal to her family. She has a bit of a temper, and the surest way to set her off is to threaten those she cares about. When her sister nearly dies, Maggie makes it her mission to find out who could have done such a thing. Unfortunately, Maggie’s sister might not be the only victim. Can Maggie solve the mystery before another woman dies?

Maggie has never desired romance, a husband, or children. Her father’s treatment of her mother led her to swear off men. However, Maggie never planned on meeting Ian. Maggie is instantly drawn to Ian. However, she doesn’t for one moment think that any man could see her as beautiful. Maggie has a very low opinion of herself and often refers to herself as a “workhorse.” Ian thinks Maggie is the most beautiful woman he’s ever met and endeavors to convince her of his sincerity. Maggie doesn’t make it easy for him. Their courtship is far from normal. Everything about it is odd, from the place they first meet to the circumstances that ultimately lead them to take the next step in their relationship. They are a very interesting couple with explosive chemistry. I enjoyed watching Ian open Maggie up to the possibility of life beyond her work. Maggie is so used to taking care of others that she practically melts when Ian takes care of her for a change.

I must also mention that I found Ian’s mental illness particularly interesting. It is a very rare thing to come across a hero with this sort of flaw. I truly felt sorry for him as I watched him struggle to control it. Especially since he is living in a time and place when very little is known about mental illness. His determination to lead a normal life is truly admirable.

The paranormal element of Mercy of the Moon is creepy and permeates every page of the story without being overwhelming. When I read the title of this mystery, I expected it to be about a certain kind of paranormal entity. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is about something entirely different. I found that very refreshing.

The villain of this tale is truly terrible and has no redeeming qualities. When the deeds and motives of the killer were revealed, I was horrified. However, I’m pleased to report that justice does prevail, but not before the father of one of his victims exacts some gruesome revenge.

I really enjoyed reading Mercy of the Moon. Maggie and Ian are well rounded characters, and the plot is intriguing and well paced. Looking for a unique paranormal? Check out Mercy of the Moon today.

Will the stranger on the beach bring Abigail love or more loss?

Abigail is a very easy character to like. She is a gentle soul prefers to keep to herself, but doesn’t hesitate to help someone in need. Abigail loves her brother and his family and she appreciates their offer to let her live with them, but Abigail prefers to do things her own way and in her own time. I liked that her brother never forces her hand, but is there to support her when she needs it. Abigail doesn’t mind living on her own, but when William enters her life, she begins to realize how much she misses the close companionship she shared with her husband. Abigail takes a huge risk in taking William into her home. I must give Abigail credit for her bravery and kindness during such a tumultuous time in history. I eagerly immersed myself in Abigail’s story hoping for a happy ending.

William is exactly the kind of man Abigail needs in her life. He doesn’t try to replace Caleb, Anna’s lost husband, but it is clear that William and Anna are kindred spirits. They settled into an easy routine with each other in just a few days. As I watched their relationship blossom, I knew their connection was more than just loneliness on Anna’s part, and William being grateful for her care. They simply felt right together.

I do think the mystery was resolved rather rapidly. As I read, I predicted fairly accurately how the story would end. The explanation of William’s identity and how he ended up in Lobster Cove is all wrapped up quickly and neatly and without too much fuss. William and Abigail do face danger from the British as well as a nefarious character in Lobster Cove, but this is much less of an issue than I anticipated. Drawing out one of these conflicts would have added more suspense to this mystery.

I enjoyed reading Storm of the Heart. Abigail and William have a warm and wonderful romance, and it is very easy to cheer for their happy ending. I recommend Storm of the Heart to anyone looking for a heartwarming tale with a dash of suspense.

Zac needs Mallory’s help to solve his latest case, but deep down he knows his feelings would have compelled him to reach out to her eventually. Will Mallory be able to see Zac for the man he’s become, or will he always be the boy she tutored in high school?

The mystery surrounding the missing people wrapped up very simply and quickly. Most of Zac’s work on the case is behind the scenes, so readers who like the kind of mystery they can try to solve before the end will not be able to do that with this story. Mallory’s gift allows the villain to be exposed very easily. Then it was just a matter of time before Zac was able to bring the culprit to justice. I do wish that the mystery had been more detailed and drawn out. However, I still found the conclusion to be pretty satisfying.

Most of the tension in this mystery revolves around Zac and Mallory. Both of them were a bit hung up on the past and were constantly wondering if what they were feeling was real or just the memories of their crushes. They had great chemistry that Ms. Kaye built to the point that even simple actions were charged with sexual tension. I do like the fact that they didn’t rush into anything serious. They were renewing their acquaintance under some intense circumstances, and they both recognized that. I have no doubt that after solving the case, they’ll take the time they need to truly get to know each other and will be well on their way to a happy ending.

Overall, I found Touching the Past to be a quick, satisfying read that I read straight through. Mallory and Zac make a good couple, and I had fun watching them rediscover each other as adults. I recommend it to anyone looking for a light and entertaining mystery.

Paranormal Bounty Hunter Myka Quinn has left her failed attempt at wolf pack life behind. She’s focused on providing for her brother and staying out of werewolf territory. When she’s framed for a witch’s murder, she must accept help from a very unlikely source, or watch the lives of those she loves rip apart.

Myka’s life is about to get a whole lot more complicated.

Myka is a smart, tough heroine, but she makes it very hard to like her. She is brash and intentionally pushes people away. Her painful past makes it easy to understand why she is so reluctant to get close to people, particularly men. However, she continues to act this way even after Ari proves he has no intention of abandoning her or forcing her do something she’s not comfortable with. She is so used to protecting her emotions that I think she forgets that her actions hurt others.

Ari is a good match for Myka and he demonstrates incredible patience in putting up with her rash actions. He is there when she needs him, but he always gives her the freedom to choose her own path. Ari and Myka definitely have a strong physical attraction, but I do wish there had been more interaction between the two. Ari and Myka don’t spend much time together, and when they are together, Ari is usually getting Myka out of trouble. When they do have some downtime, Myka squanders it by pushing him away. Their antagonistic interactions made it hard for me to believe they had truly fallen in love in such a short time.

The pacing of Unspoken is very well done. The last part of the tale is particularly intense as Myka learns more about her past and the reason she’s been framed for the witch’s murder. The ruthlessness of the villains in the story is chilling. I was on the edge of my seat wondering how Myka and Ari could ever win against such incredible odds. However, Ms. Garland threw in a twist that evened the playing field considerably and changes Myka’s life forever.

I enjoyed reading Unspoken. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fast paced paranormal with a strong, capable heroine.
