I felt empathy with all the characters (except for the baddies) and found it a warm and intriguing book which I enjoyed reading. It had highs and lows which kept me engaged with the story and mystery which meant my curiosity as to the outcome was kept alive at all times.

Although only a sweet romance, the tension between Leo and Piper was definitely the main draw of the story and I eagerly continued reading to see what the outcome would be. I would definitely read another book by this author.

Everyday events such as earning money for food and lodging came across as interesting and believable and helped the story forward. Sometimes a plot can forget that the characters have to do normal things to survive and this can spoil the flow of the story. This is not one of those books. Everything flows along very nicely.

Wind provided me with shiver down the spine moments, soft romantic scenes, smiles as other characters were duped by Rutger and Swanhild and all the time there was the question, will they or won’t they? All in all a good read especially as I love dragons.

I believe the author meant this to be comical, and I found it very funny when the Strangler tried to come to terms with the modern way of living and dressing. His description as a big bald-headed dude who looked like he ate light bulbs for breakfast, covered in pink sequins, gold glitter, and aquamarine puff balls, and smelling really, really bad, follows him through the book and it made me smile each time I read it.

The scenes in the book came to life with each word I read and the characters from the student on the top floor and her friends, the policeman, the tourists and the Savannah Strangler were all easily pictured especially the cold dead fingers trying to strangle Victorian prostitutes, which of course no longer existed.

The hilarity continues right to the end of the book. Certainly a good read as far as I’m concerned, and very entertaining.

The final decision on man’s future will be made by the Archangel Gabriel and the three journey forth to Spire Rock to advise him of what they have discovered. This book led me onward, wanting to find out what happened but the last few pages held a bombshell of shock. A good read despite the fact I’m not particularly religious.

When at last Mickey gets ready to address his feelings he gets it wrong again. Poor innocent male!

Loved this book. Short but full of emotions and confusion. It brings in the anguish of the past to be smoothed by the romance of the here and now. I found it very enjoyable to read. A book that stands on its own without being rushed or shortened to make it fit.

The concept of this story is excellent, and intriguing for suspense and mystery buffs. Unfortunately my eagerness to read the book faded as the story jolted from one point of view to another creating confusion and interrupting the flow to a point where II therefore found it difficult to get involved in the storyline.

Gore, suspense and mystery are all present in this book, and with a polish it would be a very good book.

Freedom is the feeling she experiences on the island, but she knows it can’t last forever.

Lydia’s story pulled me gently into a soft relaxing time, with a little jolt every now and again to make me aware I had to think of the future too. All the way through the book I tried to guess if she would return to her life, start a completely new one or compromise. I got it wrong, but I’m not going to put in a spoiler. I definitely enjoyed this book and would be happy to read it again, or read another of Ms May’s stories.

One last thing I must say is I loved the cover. It encompassed exactly what the book was about and drew my attention in before the opening words.

I felt as if both the main characters were my friends and I longed to be able to help them, especially when the nasty younger son had designs on Cecilia which didn’t include marriage. The setting was outside the debutante area of London and this made it more interesting for me as it provided a new aspect to the era. Charlotte Brentwood has provided a unique vision into small village life when the nobility ruled everything.

Mike on the other hand wants to ensure the Sasquatch is safe.

I got hooked on this story and, although it slowed down a bit at times, I found myself going back to find out what happened next. Oh and without spoiling it for the reader, the end is totally unexpected.
