SWAT officer, Cole, can handle just about anything, until he rescues Brett—a man who makes him question all he’s ever believed about love.

As a member of the Las Vegas Police Department’s SWAT team, Cole has seen his fair share of danger, but he’s never taken a chance on love. He’s willing to have some fun when the mood strikes him, but he’s married to the job. Called in on a hostage situation, Cole is prepared for anything and everything…except for the brave and beautiful Brett.

Brett has been burned before, most recently by Officer Parker McLean. He’s hoping to settle down in Vegas, perhaps find someone he can build a life with. The last thing Brett’s looking for is another man in uniform. But when he meets Cole, there’s an attraction that can’t be denied. Still, he hadn’t expected to fall for the chiseled alpha.

What begins as nothing more than two people experiencing a great night together spirals into something far deeper. But will Brett be able to handle the stress that comes with having a lover who constantly puts his life in jeopardy? And can Cole risk his heart on an everyday hero, or will the job he knows so well remain his top priority?

As a member of the SWAT team for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Cole Silva has seen and done it all. He’s taken chances and risked everything – everything, that is, but his heart. So when he’s called to a hostage situation at the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip, he winds up with more than he bargained for in the form of Brett Langevin. Cole knows he can save Brett, but can he save himself from Brett’s charms?

Having remembered Brett from his brief appearance in Copping an Attitude, I was looking forward to getting to know him better. Parker, from book two, had liked Brett, but not enough to have had a committed relationship with him, and that always intrigues me. As it turns out, he’s probably the most normal, stable heroes in any of the Sin City Uniform books so far. Now, that’s not a bad thing either. I love a good boy-next-door sort of guy, especially when he’s paired with someone as unconventional as Cole. By the end of the book it was official – Brett is my favorite guy out of all the previous books to date. His character moves from indecisive and eager to please (even at the expense of his own happiness) to someone willing to make his own choices and mistakes. It was an experience watching him grow comfortable in his own skin.

Cole, on the other hand, I wasn’t so familiar with. It was mentioned that he appeared in the previous book, Justice Prevails, but I don’t remember him. His role was small, but the author is really good at introducing someone in an earlier book and bringing them around for their own story later, which is really what makes this series so addicting to me. Just when you think you’ve met everyone, there’s always someone else sneaking in the side door. Cole is definitely a harder, more difficult character to get to know. Ex-military as well as a current member of SWAT, he’s intense, focused, and pretty closed off emotionally. Because of this, he ticks me off a few times during the course of the story, but not enough to make me stop reading. His actions are expected to a point, but still ruffled my feathers a bit. Mostly because I was already partial to Brett in a lot of ways.

Held Hostage is, for me, the best book in this series to date. There are a couple of problematic areas, like the lack of actual help for Brett after he was held hostage, but within the confines of a short novella, I know that things do sometimes get left on the cutting board. That said the hostage situation itself is well done and intensely written, really drawing you in and holding your attention. I felt like there were moments where Cole was a jerk for no reason, but in retrospect, those times actually forced Brett to push past his insecurities and have necessary character growth. With each installment getting better and better, I’m anxious to see what Ms. Knight has in store for us with the next in this series.

Rumors had circulated for years in the Lexington area about horse breeders Brett, Colin and Donovan McGilley, especially about the activities that went on above their popular night club, Casey’s. Kayla Holden was at Casey’s to celebrate her twenty-sixth birthday and in the mood to do something wild and crazy and what could be wilder and crazier than enticing sexy, older Brett McGilley into inviting her upstairs for an up close and personal look at the sexual activities she had heard so much about. Even though Brett was attracted to Kayla, his taste for spanking and exhibitionism was not for someone so young and inexperienced. But Brett had no idea just how determined Kayla was to not only explore his sexual kinks, but to do so only with him.

Colin McGilley had fallen for his best friend’s wife, Olivia Hammond, the moment he met her and when Doug asked him to help gift her with a ménage on her birthday, he couldn’t resist. The next three years, Colin carried the guilt of Doug’s sudden death that next day while Olivia struggled with grief. But Olivia’s need to find another Master to give her what she so badly craved sent her to Colin, this time asking more from him than friendship.

Donovan McGilley has struggled with his quick temper ever since his rescue from the Iraqi’s seven years ago, his worry over preferring rough sex keeping him from seeking a relationship outside of the few women who liked sex hard and usually with two men at their private club. But when veterinarian, Anna Kingston saves one of his beloved mares and he see signs of abuse on her body, he simply couldn’t turn her down when she approaches him to explore the sexual fantasies that had led to ending her marriage.

Meet the McGilley Brothers who like their sex kinky and on their terms, but try to do the right thing by turning down the women brave enough to take them on. Women who refuse to take no for an answer.

The story is a very cleverly written in the way that it tells the love story of the three brothers all in a single book. It took some time for the main plot to really develop but then it takes center stage in the third brother, Donovan’s, story. This trilogy had a little bit of a suspense feel to it but not enough to be categorized as one.

All three brothers are different in style and what they like, though their love for horses is one thing that is common between them. Each brothers has their own conflict to resolve within the book.

Brett is attracted to a woman half his age. But with a failed marriage under his belt he does not want subject an ‘innocent’ to his brand of kink or sex. However, Kayla is not willing to take no for an answer.

Colin is a Dom who is in love with his departed best friend’s wife who happens to be be a submissive. After years mourning for her husband and Dom she wants to get back into the scene. She wants a Dom. But not just any Dom, she wants Colin. But Colin has guilt that could break apart their relationship and Olivia as well. Colin’s relationship with Olivia was at first complicated to understand. His guilt over something that happened was understandable but it conflicted with his desire for Olivia. It was obvious early on to this reader how he truly felt about Olivia, even though she couldn’t see it. Not at first. It was wonderful to see their relationship evolve from acquaintances to lovers

When Donovan meets red-headed vet Anna, he knows that Anna has suffered abuse. He also feels something for her that he thought he never could. Together they learn to live and love. It was enlightening to see Donovan help Anna get over the abuse. Their relationship was fiery from the first scene. Donovan likes a lot harder sex than what a lot of females are willing to give. But in Anna he finds compatible in every possible way imaginable.

All three of these couples are so different but their chemistry was hot and spicy readers who enjoy a little more hardcore erotic romance should definitely give The McGilley Trilogy a read.

Quincy gives away his heart too easily, and has been hurt in love more than once. Still, that doesn’t stop him from falling head over heels for Topaz when he first meets the man.

It seems like a match made in heaven, but Topaz lives with two men who are his best friends, and also his lovers. Will Quincy ever be able to understand that Topaz has more than enough love in his heart for his best friends and his soul-mate, or will Topaz’s bohemian ways be too much for Quincy to understand?

Quincy loved visiting the corner flower shop. Stephen, the owner, made the most amazing floral arrangements and talked about his flowers as if they were rambunctious children. While visiting one day, he met Topaz there, a wild, free, whirlwind of a man who made Quincy want to laugh and play. Even though Quincy quickly talks himself out of starting something – his last boyfriend had stomped his heart to pieces – he simply can’t resist Topaz. Things aren’t as simple as Quincy first believed though, and as tempting and fun as Topaz is, Quincy struggles to embrace life as fully as his lover does.

This is a wonderful, vibrant story, full of colour and laughter. I really enjoyed the four main characters. Stephen and Leo are soul-mates, but have plenty of love left over for Topaz. The three men live together, sharing their lives and hearts. Although it’s not a traditional house, it’s filled to the brim with sunshine and happiness, and there’s plenty left over for Quincy to share. Topaz can see something within Quincy, something that calls to him. I loved how Topaz needed to be patient, for as wonderful as their household is, it wouldn’t be an easy life for Quincy to just dive straight into. And as tempting as the author has made it, I relished that realism – the doubt and worry, the fact it took time for Quincy to feel as if he fitted into the dynamic. Topaz, Leo and Stephen have a magic all their own, and slowly but surely Quincy finds himself being woven in, and I felt it didn’t detract one inch from the fun and colourfulness of the men’s lives.

Added on, Quincy and Topaz really share something special, something magical. Neither man can deny it and I enjoyed watching them grow and flourish together, become something greater than the sum of their parts. Even when I felt sad, when the drama buffered against them, there is just something so bright, so lovely about Topaz and his outlook. The sex is smoking hot, but I really found it was the relationship between the men – all four of them – that took center stage. For this story, I thought that was wonderful and added a depth others sometimes miss. Yes, there’s plenty of sex, and delightfully so – but it’s the interactions between the men and the complexities of their relationship that really makes this book so awesome.

A fun, heartwarming story that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I feel this should appeal to a wide range of readers, especially ones who like something more complex than your average erotic romance. Recommended.

It was refreshing to see these two work for their relationship, they didn’t just meet and fall in love, they had to work on building a real relationship, and I rooted for them. I do admit the injury to get her into his house seemed a bit contrived, but it still worked to force them to face their relationship fears.

I loved all the sexual scenes, they were well plotted and very steamy. I definitely enjoyed the inventive scenes and Ms. Yssel seems to have done a lot of research into the BDSM lifestyle. There is one scene early on where Karen is tied up and multiple people, both female and male help with the scene and Karen purposely asks to not know who was involved.

I highly recommend this story and it was a great way to pass an afternoon.

Blindfolded with one of her clients, she has the sensation that something is different this time, but is blissfully unaware of what, exactly, until she’s readying to leave and finds a macabre sight in his study. Sir Michael had been murdered. Emma’s day is turned upside down, and the man of her dreams – a Police Detective of all things – suddenly enters her life.

This is an interesting and well-written Historical novel. I enjoyed Emma’s frankness about her work and sexual relations. There was no air of “missishness” – which I personally dislike – but also she wasn’t blunt to the point of crudeness. I feel the author has done an excellent job of balancing Emma’s character so she is relatable but still exceedingly sexual for that time period. I was a little disappointed how difficult I found it initially to relate to the hero, Detective Mark Hargreeves, but this was mostly due to the story being from Emma’s point of view, and written in the first person. Seeing everything from Emma’s perspective was interesting, but it did make me wonder at Mark’s thoughts and reactions, how things appeared from his eyes. I felt this became particularly difficult a few times in the story when Mark would seem to change his mind on something – do a complete about-face – and I’d not really feel like I had a proper understanding on why. This also made it harder for me to feel connected to Mark, and I think that was a great shame.

This book is a little bit different from many other erotic romances that I’ve read previously, in that even though Emma’s attraction to Mark is clear from the beginning, their relationship is quite platonic for the first half of the book. Emma continues to see her clients and while I enjoyed this and the progression of the story, die-hard romantics might not be happy to see Emma sexually active with numerous men while being distracted and entranced with Mark. This isn’t a standard hero-and-heroine-fall-in-love and are monogamous style of story and I can understand if some readers don’t appreciate that. I personally didn’t mind Emma’s sexual exploits with her clients – indeed I feel it gave me greater insight into Emma’s character. I felt there were a few small inconsistencies in the plot, particularly surrounding Mark and his past, but overall this was a small niggle and not enough to dampen my enjoyment of the story.

This is a fresh and very different style of historical romance book. Brimming with tons of sex and a very independent heroine Emma’s lifestyle is enough to make me blush at times, but I greatly enjoyed reading of her escapades. There is a wonderful, happy ending that made the romantic in me very satisfied. An interesting, fresh kind of historical erotic novel.

I have really been looking forward to this book. Roman and Carver were so hot together!

Jayne Rylon turned on the waterworks with this one. The characters, angst, and drama were perfectly blended to create an absolutely captivating story that brought me to tears more than once. Several issues combined to make this book more emotional. Roman was seriously damaged by an abusive past that left him coping by using drugs, alcohol, and sexual exploits. Now all that is failing, and it’s partly because he doesn’t want to share Carver. Thrown into the volatile mix is the fact that he is a very dominant man who needs to take control of his lover. Considering his past it causes some tension and a fair amount of guilt for him. It was in Swinger Style that the situation escalated to the point where Roman attempted suicide. Barracuda’s Heart begins with the aftermath of his breakdown and his road to recovery. Then there was the fact that Carver had his own issues and needs that may spell disaster for their relationship.

The thing that worked most for me in this story was the connection between Roman and Carver. The way this author wrote these characters, and especially the sex scenes, the chemistry was a palpable thing that I could almost feel. The sex scenes were so scorching hot that I was left blushing.

I’ve come to expect a certain kind of brilliance from this author and she really came through on this book. She created an entertaining and steamy story that touched on some intense subject material without having it overwhelm the romance part of the book. Now it must be said that the menage aspect is fairly light in this one. There are a few scenes, of course, but it’s simply not as predominant as it generally tends to be in this series. I have to say that it worked well for me in this one.

Just as I had expected, Barracuda’s Heart was a great read for me!

When one of Randi Conway’s psychotherapy patients is found dead of a gunshot wound, the investigation is turned over to Lieutenant Anthony Walker.

Formerly a New York City cop, Walker now serves on the police force of an affluent community in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He lives among the privileged gentry, where he understands that appearances are often far removed from reality. This certainly proves to be true in the death of Elizabeth Knoebel, when Walker discovers that she had been keeping a private journal entitled “SEXUAL RITES”.

Elizabeth was a predator bent on seducing and, in some instances, humiliating these men, obsessed with a perverse mission that Walker believes led to her murder.

As Walker uncovers the secrets of Elizabeth’s memoir, he becomes convinced that her killer is another of Randi Conway’s patients.

But which one?

The Blue Journal starts with a sentence that pulled me immediately into the story and a first chapter that had me wanting to find out who killed Elizabeth Knoebel.

The second chapter seemed unrelated to the first where main character Anthony Walker is called to deal with a teenager who’s up on a roof and about to jump. We’re also introduced to Randi Conway, who will eventually play a big part in the plot as she’s the psychologist who’s been overseeing the group therapy sessions that Elizabeth Knoebel was part of.

Journals that Elizabeth kept soon come to light, they’re sexually explicit and it seems she’s been playing a manipulative game with various men.

The plot is a great one, trying to figure out who killed her and there are some plot twists that had me turning the pages. I couldn’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t enjoy this book more than I thought I would. I realized it was because some chapters were written from Walker’s point of view and other main characters, but it seemed to switch to a more omniscient point of view in others which made me lose my connection to them and the story. However, if this style of writing is to your liking then I don’t think it will be problem for you. In fact, if you like a whodunit with an erotic undertone then this could be a good pick.

After not meeting up with her blind date at a local bistro, Val finds herself dressed up as Alice and attending the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in the woods with three sexy guys. Seeking an adventure, Val dives into the world of fantasy and does what anyone in her situation would do: a foursome!

Val was late, late for a very important blind date. Rushing to the small bistro she discovers things aren’t exactly going how she planned. A strange man in a top hat gives her a cup of tea quite insistently when she’s ordered a coffee, and that begins some very odd adventures. Val – who the man in the top hat insists on calling her Alice – has been …. borrowed… for an event. One she’s not quite certain she wants to attend. Reality and fantasy blur a little, and Val needs to make some important decisions very carefully.

Personally I had to laugh when Val drank her cup of tea. As a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, one thing I know beyond doubt was if I’ve ordered one drink and am given another – with very polite but exceedingly strong orders to drink it – you can’t expect anything sensible to follow such a course! I’d be rather careful of food offered as well, now I think about it. Nevertheless, Val finds herself in the woods sitting at a large table with three men in attendance. She discovers it’s the Mad Hatters tea-party with the white rabbit and mouse. They reminded her that in her dating profile she’d stated that she wanted adventure, and the three men were determined to give her exactly that.

Boy does Val/Alice have a raunchy adventure! While I admit I found the setup a little strange – Val’s easy acceptance of being drugged and taken into the woods for some sexy fun in particular – I can’t deny the story was scorching hot and a definite, fun and adult look at the Alice in Wonderland story. I would have really enjoyed knowing a bit of history of the three men. It seemed a little strange and from left-field that they set the whole situation up, especially not really knowing why or how they came to this point. Possibly I could understand if there was a word limit on the story, this might have been very restrictive, but I do feel a bit more detail and explanation would have made this a far stronger, more well-rounded story and one I could understand far deeper.

The sex is intense and very hot. I’d have enjoyed it if this scene was longer too. While the author does a great job of the sex scene, a second one following on would have been lovely to my mind. I craved more! I also really enjoyed how there was a definite “Happy For Now” ending with one of the men. My strongest recommendation for other readers interested in this story is to sit back with a nice pot of tea, disengage your brain, relax and just enjoy it. Go with it. I certainly had a lot of fun when I did so. Recommended.

After ten years and a set of twins later, they have come to Hawaii to find themselves and where they are in life. That’s sweet! But overall, The Anniversary is not a sweet book. It’s an erotic short story with a simple but deep plot.

It was absolutely nice to see their relationship at a place where they could share each other’s thoughts and fantasies without endangering their relationship and family.

It was eye opening to see Victoria and Eric rekindle their relationship. And they did rekindle it. The passion and chemistry was very much evident from the first page. The chemistry (and an understanding) was there between the new guy and Victoria, as well. And that in itself was a huge plus.

This is a pretty short story but I would have liked a little more detail. Some additional background on Victoria and Eric as well as ‘the guy’. Maybe even a look into the future. “A little more depth” might be the best way to explain what I needed. On the surface it’s a good, simple story. But it had potential for more. It’s a moment in time for this couple and as long as that’s all a reader expects, then it works.

Ms. West did a fabulous job of writing a story that, while believable, also made sure to satisfy this reader’s limits. Because My Anniversary is about fantasies that both of the main characters fulfill, with the help of a guy they meet while vacationing, the ending like a Happy Eve After.

I would recommend My Anniversary to readers enjoy short stories revolving mainly around a couple fulfilling their innermost sexual fantasies.
