It’s funny how, when you read a book that is so good, the characters not only hold your attention but your heart as well. In this story I got to see the lust and love of both Roan and Jake grow and bloom into something everlasting. Not only does the book have an in-depth plot that broke my heart, it also had a beautiful air of tenderness that left me breathless.

Roan’s need for a family and to be loved, even though he is a supermodel, was a story line that made my heart ache for him. It was hard watching and waiting for Jake to make up his mind and decide what he wanted out of life. There is so much emotion between the pages of this book that I found it hard to put down. This is one of the best M/M stories I have read and one I will be reading again. The story of Jake and Roan is so exquisite I walked away from this tale loving them both.

With an interesting twist at the end of this story, I found myself wanting to know more about Athena and her men.

Sparks fly right from the start between the two and they continue their fun into the night. I liked this story and the feelings that Kellee has. Bad Romance by Melissa Hosack is a great story. Ashe is a woman who finds out that her family is not what she has always believed it to be. When she finds out what a mistake she has made she is more than willing and ready to make amends, especially after she meets Jason. Jason is a strong man who fights for those that he cares about. The two make a strong couple and the love that blooms between them is a wonderful read.

This anthology was a pleasure to read. It was nice to be able to read these short stories from new authors and find out if I liked any of their writing styles. I found many characters full of emotion and depth that were more than ready to have me hear their stories.

I will remind readers that this is a BDSM anthology and that some of the sex may be intense and could offend some. In reading this anthology I found new authors that I enjoy and will be sure to look for more from them in the future.

The characters are interesting and I wanted to see what would happen to them. There are lots of twists and turns that kept my attention. I had to know how the pieces of the story fit together.

Kyle is a very shy person. He’s not one who stands out in a crowd and he’s not one to expect attention. I liked that about him. He’s realistic. As for Luca, he’s a vampire. There are some really emotional moments, but I felt like I was being led through the situation as a bystander, not immersed in it. The ending is interesting, but I felt it to be a bit abrupt and I wanted to know what would happen after. But it gives the author a possibility to create a sequel. There’s lots of potential in the tale and I think with a little more detail and a little more time, it could have been a real knock-out.

If you want a vampire story with some new twists on the old favorite, you need to read The Blood Between.

Finding Caleb’s lover wounded in the bayou leads to erotic scenes and some three-way action that precipitates Tate’s healing. A departure from the previous stories, but nicely written and entertaining.

But will there be a happy ending?

It also would have been nice if I could have put the book down from time to time, in order to give myself a little break from the constant sexual interactions. Having said that, I need to add – what a problem to have!

The very first chapter grabbed my emotions and put them through the ringer because of the very intense writing and subject matter. Ms. Marchat certainly started this book off with an attention snagging set up and I couldn’t stop reading.

The author also set up the reader with knowing who the bad guy is but nothing prepares the reader for just how diabolical things get. The emotional connections were forged early on in the story so a reader feels connected to the characters which makes for what happens more poignant, more stark and effective.

I liked the build up between the hero, Jason and the heroine, Emily. It was actually brewing for many years so it’s not a sudden thing but it’s very well played out and when they finally catapult into physical love it was explosive. But the author had a bit of a twist up her sleeve that I didn’t expect. It upped the ante on the internal conflict scales and Ms. Marchat certainly knew how to capitalize on the angst. And it ended up being the beginning of a very twisted and suspenseful romance riding on the back of one well told and intricate external conflict.

Emily grows up fast during the course of the story. She loses her innocent view of the world despite being intellectually informed about things; living them made the greatest impact. She turns into a very solid leading lady and shows her backbone and fortitude. She also gets to explore her sensual self but the results could be her undoing. Jason was a leader from the get go but in this story his old pain and personal fears come back to haunt him. He’s fighting not only the bad guys but himself. He is a complicated personality and I liked how the author lets a reader in on his thoughts when the story is told from his point of view. Then again, I appreciated getting the other side of the coin from Emily as well. Ms. Marchat plotted out their growth individually and as a couple well and it kept my attention.

Interestingly enough, the bad guys get a bit of their point of view told in this story which surprised me. It was an interesting touch and made the stakes that much higher. I agreed with Emily, that even someone who is really bad has some good qualities, sometimes they’re even hard to resist. What an astonishing dilemma. Other secondary characters filled out the story with well balanced personalities that benefited and showcased the hero and heroine.

As for the external conflict, Ms. Marchat wrote an engrossing spy tale of suspense peppered with thwarted sensual tension that kept me flipping the pages.

Across a Crowded Room is a gripping tale of intrigue and suspense with tons of sensual teases and excitement to keep readers flipping pages at a furious pace. It has a satisfying happily ever after between characters I really connected to. I had a great time reading this story because I never knew where it was going to go and how justice would ultimately be served. Romantic suspense readers are going to get what they are looking for when they dive into Ms. Marchat’s well told tale. I’m so glad I read it.
