Angie and Noah’s story really touched a part of me that a story hasn’t in a while. While the previous story in the anthology was hot and spicy, The Ark Hotelcreated that slow burn that I knew would warm the characters during the winter months. Angie’s previous abuse relationship played a large role in this story. I liked that the author started, not during the abuse, but right after Angie decided to stand up for herself and take a chance on her. While Noah did not have a abusive ex-lover, he had his own hardships. Another character I was impressed with was Lizzie. I found myself wondering if she to had her own story to tell, because I would have loved to heard it. This was truly one of those stories I wanted to re-read as soon as I was done.

Demon Protection Plan by Elizabeth J. Kolodziej 

When ordered to protect the eccentric Kasidy to ensure she stayed alive long enough to testify against a criminal they have been trying to get for a while, Decland hadn’t realized he would be the one needing the protection. Kasidy’s character has a way of looking at the world that is refreshing yet scary. She lives for the moment which I can honestly say I envy, yet because of who she is she cannot let anyone close to her. That is until she is trapped in a cabin with the delectable Decland. He makes her question not only her ability to keep her panties on, but also her ability to maintain the walls she had erected around her heart to protect herself and anyone who dares to care about her.

While I expected the holidays to play a larger role in this anthology, I enjoyed the cold winter months none the same. All three stories were truly unique to one another each could really stand on their own. This anthology helped to introduce me to some excellent authors that sure do know how to heat a girl’s blood and keep the pages turning.

Destined Lovers by Doris O’Connor was a nice story with characters that I quickly came to like, for as just as Suzzanna felt entirely human, Drake had that otherworldly characteristic that made him exquisite. However, I found the ending of this short to be a bit confusing. 

Atone for the Moon by Raven McAllan had some spanking but it was not sizzling hot in the sex department. It was definitely a fun story that had me laughing at some points but I believe it could have been much more enjoyable had it been longer.

Property Lines by Cherie Nicholls was my favorite of the five stories in The Eclipse of the Blood Moon anthology. The chemistry between Adam and Celeste is present from beginning to end making it impossible to drop the story. Ms. Nicholls write a short, very hot story that feels complete (even if I would have loved to learn more about the characters). 

Gypsy Butterfly by Michaela Rhua was different. Though the interaction between the characters felt a bit forced, the plot idea was interesting and different. 

The Black Widow by Arya Grey was not your usual vamp story. With a very original idea and very vivid descriptions, I really would have liked to read more on this one, especially since the ending felt a bit rushed to my taste. 

The Eclipse of the Blood Moon was, in conclusion, a good and entertaining read with stories suited for all those that like things that go bump in the night.

I like how the authors have changed up some of the more common threads in the paranormal genre and definitely made this story their own. The sex is smoking hot and peppered heavily throughout the entire story. Definitely not for the faint of heart, make sure you have some water or a nice cold shower nearby.

I found this story quite refreshing, not only for the world/paranormal rule changes the authors have made, but also the risks they took with the plot. This isn’t always a happy, fuzzy, warm story, but one where real loss and grief occur. While there is a happy ending, it’s simultaneously bittersweet in some instances – and yet I still finished this story with a sigh of satisfaction. One popular misconception in BDSM is that the sub has no control in the bedroom, but Porcha did have control. If she wanted to, she could have stopped. There was the safeword which she never used because she was always comfortable and enjoying herself with her three lovers.

I loved Porcha. Although she’s a sub, she was the most dominant character of the whole book. She was strong and always in control of her situation. If the men were busy doing something and she wanted to have sex, all she’d have to do is demand it and they would be at her mercy. So yes, while she was the sub in the bedroom, she was just as strong and just as brave as her men were outside of it. When she did land in real danger, she didn’t cry, she started to fight.

The suspense part of the story had its ups and downs. I didn’t care for the original excuse of who the bad guy was and why, and really hoped that they were wrong. I didn’t like how they arrived at that conclusion given the lack of evidence. And the whole escape was way too easy. But it all fell into place at the end. And lets face it, while the suspense was good, the sex was so much better.

All in all, it was a very entertaining story and the sex was hot, hot, hot. So worth the read!

This, with the various warnings attached, seemed to fit the bill. However, after reading it, I did discover the moving plot and compelling characters within. Although the story is short, it is a complete story.

Kassius is a man sent to bring the beautiful and young Rakel back to his Emperor. Kassius is in love with the Emperor and they have been secret lovers for ages, so it’s very hard on him that his mate is now going to marry a woman. Kassius battles feelings of both jealousy and secret love. While he would never betray his lover, he is also deeply attracted to the blushing bride.

Rakel has never been touched by a man. All her life she’s been prepped to become the Emperor’s wife, and now that day has come. She’s taken away from her family, friends, village and taken by Kassius to the man she’s destined to marry, a man she has never met. She’s anxious and scared, and Kassius is there for her. She develops a lusty desire for him, but how can she act on it and betray her new husband.

So you can see the conflict right there. All the characters in this short story are driven by different desires and needs that are forbidden for them. Definitely great characterization and plot.

Another thing I loved about this story is the setting. I’ve never read anything set in a place like that before and I’ll be sure to read other works by this author to learn more about this fantastical world where elementals and Emperors live. My only complaint about that is I wanted more description of it. I wanted to see the journey they traveled and see this country and village, and I wasn’t able to imagine it.

Now we’re getting to my favorite part of any short story, the sex. Despite all the warning labels attached to this story, the sex wasn’t hot. I wanted dirty and this wasn’t. It was sensual, romantic, tender, and passionate. It wasn’t “I need to do you now” one night stand kind of sex. It was “I found my soul mate” kind of lovemaking. The sex was written differently than in other erotic romance stories and I really liked the sensual vs hot writing style.

I love a book that grabs my attention and holds it there until the last page. Jack Greene writes those kind of books for me. Once I open the file on my reader, I’m snagged. Why? Greene writes with a fluidity I enjoy. The words leap from the page and make me feel like I am right there. I care about the characters and am totally on board for the ride. This book is no different.

Siris is a pleasure slave. He’s there to make his lovers happy–except he’s very young (eighteen) and he’s a virgin. The idea of a pleasure slave that’s been trained but is still virginal is interesting. I felt his fear when he’s up at the auction and held my breath at each twist and turn. He’s young, but he’s memorable. I liked that. I thought about Legar once the book concluded as well. The guy is there to protect Siris and takes his job seriously. He has some scenes with Siris on a horse that let me tell you, you will need ice! I felt the depth of his caring for Siris and enjoyed their pairing. The third in this story is Rakurr. I could picture all three characters quite well, but holy moly, he’s yummy. There’s a level of trust between the three men that Greene writes with a tenderness and it’s great to read about.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all smiles and sunshine in this book. There are moments of tenseness and some twists I didn’t expect, but all in all, I am glad I got to read this book. If you want a book that’s got plenty of heat and heart, then this might be the book for you.

Jen, is still considered a child by her family, but grows into her own with the help of Cash. I love stories when the heroine finds that one thing that completes her, and the man she loves supports her. Cash is pretty much perfect, which might be the only thing I didn’t like about him, I almost wish he had more flaws. That is definitely not something to hold against him, since his strength is so integral to the story.

This is the seventh book in the series, and while that can be problem for other stories, I had no problem figuring out who was who and what was going on. The scenes were sexy and plentiful, but a warning if you don’t like hot Navy Seals sharing a woman and even touching at one point, this isn’t the book for you. I didn’t feel like the ménage and the other sex scenes were out of place or contrived the scenes just seemed to happen naturally.

With hot Navy Seals everywhere there is nothing not to love, this is the book to pick up if you love humor and hot men.

Red Riding Hood is a pretty straightforward story featuring a young woman, a red cape and a wolf. It has been a favorite for me since my childhood. This story adds a few elements to the mix, while still maintaining a fairy tale quality. Since the story is so familiar, it could have been boring, but as we discover, Red is a very naughty girl and that red cape of hers is the star in many woodland adventures.

The voice of a story will either drag you in, or keep you at arm’s length. This one kind of did both, if that makes any sense. I was intrigued by the fairy tale tone of the book but the distance between Red and the reader was a bit disconcerting. Reading on, I saw that the author needed the distance to encompass the overall tone of the book, but it left me longing for more connection with the character. Red is described as a selfish and lustful woman who needs to be punished. That was accurate, but when she is portrayed as too stupid to decide for herself whether to sleep with a certain character or have choices of her own about whether to follow her new Master, I had to fight a feeling of annoyance. There was also a fight scene at the end of the book that was introduced with the dreaded “dear reader” entreaty. If you have a fight scene, show me-don’t tell me it happened and slip it under the rug.

Overall, I found the dialogue right for the style of writing. Being that it was in a historical fairy tale setting, the characters will talk in a certain way. The BDSM sex scenes were hot and earned a glass of ice water or two as I was reading. Give me hot woodland encounters any day–good job there. The conflict with the Hunter and the Wolf was very interesting as was the nature of the Grandmother. It was a well-rounded, fast paced story, but I wanted that fight scene and a bit more involvement with Red. I liked the BDSM elements combined with the fairy tale twist. That was what kept me reading. A good spanking always makes my day, especially if you have a very naughty young lady who needs a firm hand.

Knife and blood play are perilous topics, but Sarai does a superb job of transmitting the orgasmic bliss of the sub as her Master carves his intent into her flesh. Blood and blade are as erotic as anything I have ever read and it has stuck with me, even as I write this.

One of the things that has come to my attention lately in reading erotica is how an author handles female arousal and what is going on down there. Again, Sarai mixes it up and it was not repetitive. Not a single one of the ten stories left me with anything other than being in the story and loving every minute of it. The action was perfect, sex scenes scintillating and the originality of the stories was glue you to the page wonderful.
