The Deerbourne Inn series is written by a collection of authors sharing the same setting but they don’t have to be read in order because the two I chose can definitely be considered standalone stories. The first one I tried was #8 and was written by Charlotte O’Shay. I’d never read her before. Because I loved it very much, I chose to read Home in Your Arms as it was also written by Charlotte O’Shay.

I was amazed at the differences between the two romance stories. I simply had to compare them, especially because they were part of the series. My verdict – while I preferred book Forever in a Moment, Home in your Arms is still a good book. It was. I was entertained and enjoyed many parts of it. It’s just that I couldn’t connect with the heroine, Karla Payne. It’s true that I don’t know what it’s like to be a widow, but Karla’s character didn’t come close to what I imagined it might be like. I’m frustrated that I can’t pinpoint exactly what didn’t jive for me. There were times when I really felt like I was connecting and then, I wasn’t. Her personality flip-flopped – from independent to dependent. It didn’t help matters that Karla wasn’t very nice to the heroine in Forever in a Moment. Justified or not, it was still stuck in my head.

My impression of the hero, Zane, was that he was a borderline stalker. He fell in love with his late buddy’s sweetheart while listening to him tell stories about her during their deployment. Zane couldn’t resist looking Karla up. While it all logically made sense, it was still kind of weird.

Even though the story had a predictable plot, it flowed at a nice steady pace. The chemistry between Karla and Zane brought a smile to my face and made me happy when they received their happily ever after. Another thing I liked about Home in Your Arms were the cameos from some of the characters I met in Forever in a Moment. Seeing them made for a very nice surprise.

The best takeaway was the belief that a true home is in your loved one’s arms. I absolutely agree with that because I’ve moved several times and could relate to this concept. I was able to look past the conflicts and struggles between the hero and heroine because I appreciated the moral of the story. A house is just a structure. It’s the loved ones within that make it a home and it’s that theme that redeemed the book for me.

Ultimately, the author’s writing style made for a pleasant and enjoyable read. I would definitely encourage readers to give this story a try. One thing’s for sure. I’m curious to try another Charlotte O’Shay romance story simply because I’m amazed as to how different books #8 and #19 were. What other surprises might be in store for me from this multi-talented author?

Oh my gosh I’m so late to the party! Apparently there are twenty-two books in the Deerbourne Inn series, written by all different authors. Apparently a reader doesn’t need to read them in order. I’ve never read a Charlotte O’Shay book but I think she did a fine job!

I’m the lucky reviewer to have read book eight, Forever in a Moment, and can I say “Wow!”. I’m so sad it’s over. It was the fastest one hundred and thirty eight pages I’ve ever read.

The hero, Jed, was “all that” and more. The book started off right away with him rescuing the heroine, Sam. I loved the quick start that just kept on flowing like the snow falling in the snow storms described in the story.

It wasn’t your typical busy city woman falling for a country farm boy with the conflict of will she stay in the country or will he follow her to the city because it wasn’t a typical farm setting. The setting was remarkable yet indescribable. You’ll need to read the book for yourself. In fact I’m curious to read some more books from the Deerbourne Inn series.

As far as the relationship between Sam and Jed, it was quite entertaining. She’s a proud successful Italian city woman and Jed is a well-loved small town citizen. The writing style contained humor, chemistry and honesty between the couple which made them relatable and lovable.

There was an epilogue which I always appreciate when I’m reading a romance. It’s like getting dessert after eating a delicious meal.

I don’t have any reservations about recommending this book at all. I’m excited to explore some of the other books in this series. I would encourage others to explore this book and series as well.

When my son graduated high school, it was very bittersweet. That’s exactly how I feel right now. I absolutely loved this series. I read every book and I’m so sad that the series is over now. The Forgiven Scoundrel was the perfect ending to the Tricking the Scoundrels series.

The heroine, Belle, was a complex character that was pivotal in all the other books. I was really looking forward to reading her story because I always found her intriguing because of the mysterious aura surrounding her. I didn’t think I’d love Belle any more than I did but I was wrong. Her romance with the hero, Lord Phillip Delamont, was sublime.

Many secrets make for a really awesome plot. Relatable characters that I’ve befriended in previous books only enhance my positive feelings while reading this story. Combine a spicy romance between Belle and Phillip and I have a book glow.

In addition to the excellent writing style, unpredictable plot twists and consistent quality pace flow, I found The Forgiven Scoundrel to be an entertaining read that I didn’t want to put down.

I definitely recommend this book to be on a reader’s “must read” list for those who love stories with redemption, forgiveness and true love. All the books in this series can be read as standalones, but I suggest reading the entire series. With Christmas coming, the complete set of Tricking the Scoundrels series would make a wonderful gift.

If I had to choose one word to summarize this story then I’d choose the word, heartwarming. This was an inspiring and uplifting book.

The hero, Garrett, and the heroine, Blair, are both tragically broken. One can only wonder how they could ever move forward and each let their past demons go. They both believed they didn’t deserve each other. I’m serious when I say this plot had the potential to be a head banger but it pleasantly wasn’t. There were other characters i.e.: family/friends that were all different kinds of messed up in their own way that the focus wasn’t entirely the leading characters repeating how they had no future he/she deserved better. There was involvement or intervention from both sides encouraging them to open their eyes and hearts; to grab the opportunity to learn from other people’s mistakes or successes. The title of the book was very appropriate for Clair and Garrett as they healed each other’s hearts.

Blair and Garrett’s love for each other was eloquently written. One could imagine and feel the struggle and couldn’t help but cheer them on. The chemistry was there between them. It took some time for them to surrender to it, which leads my sharing that the pace of the story was a bit slow for me. The first page was gripping but as the story progressed it was like riding an emotional roller-coaster.

This is book two in the Masonville series. I didn’t read the first one and didn’t feel like I needed to. Because of that, I’d say that To Heal a Heart can be read as a standalone. This story was three hundred and twenty nine pages. I think it has the making to be made into a Hallmark movie.

Blair’s grandfather is a stable character who had an impact on his family and his community. It was gut-wrenching that he didn’t get to see the ending as the reader did. To Heal a Heart was a dramatic contemporary romance that has the potential to touch many reader’s lives. For that reason I sincerely recommend this book.

Who hasn’t imagined what it would be like to fall in love with someone famous? I know I have and after reading the synopsis, I knew I had to give this book a chance.

The first page captured my interest making me laugh at myself. I have walked up to a couple of celebrities and asked for their autograph. Without spoiling anything, the heroine, Courtney, and her friends were very relatable to me for we shared the same celebrity stalking trait. Though Courtney could really care less because she was committed to getting her law degree.

The hero, Justin Erikson, was slow to grow on me but eventually was irresistible. The story gives the reader what I imagine is a realistic idea what it must be like to be famous with the paparazzi always following you. I honestly don’t think I’d like it. Courtney brought the reader through the ups and downs of dating a movie star.

I actually nanny for someone who is considered important to some people but to me he’s just a human. He lives and breathes like the rest of us. He’s just “dad” to the little girl that I nanny for. I see how others respond to him and it’s silly to me. That’s exactly like Courtney’s attitude regarding Erikson. She sees him for his characteristics.

Together as a couple the chemistry they shared was really spicy. I definitely needed some omeprazole. The plot pulled on my heartstrings many times more for Courtney than it did for Justin however I had many feel good moments. They made for an entertaining couple.

I do need to note that the ending was abrupt. I’ve given that much thought and I have to say it was justified. There was so much back and forth that it seemed appropriate to have the impact of a heavy door closed quickly. I was satisfied with the happily ever after. There weren’t any loose strings. I can’t say that the book was unpredictable but I can say that it was delectable. Hollywood Endings was a fun read.

I’m just going to be blunt and get right to the point. This is the best series I’ve read in a long time. It’s right up there with the Drake Sisters series by Christine Feehan and the Mackenzie Family series by Linda Howard.

When reviewing, there are many components in a narrative that I’m looking for. How developed and relatable were the cast of characters? Did the plot maintain my interest and flow at a reasonable pace with unexpected twists while keeping its realistic integrity? How was the chemistry between the hero and heroine? Did they receive their happily ever after? Were there any loose threads? Particularly from my point of view I want to laugh and feel a book glow for hours after finishing the book. It’s a bonus if I can add another hero to my list of book boyfriends. When I’m reading a series I want to feel that “coming home” sensation. The heartwarming feeling of being reunited with cherished friends and family.

It’s not often I can claim that a book meets all my criteria for what I consider a best book or best series. It is my honor to claim Baked with Love by Peggy Jaeger hit all my feel good spots. The Match in Heaven series has left a lasting impression on me. Yes, each book can be read as a standalone but I would not recommend it. The three together put any Hallmark show to shame. I’d like to see the series put into a movie.

I wish the characters were real and that I could meet them. I want to go stay at their inn. I’m a huge fan of Peggy Jaeger after reading several of her books.

The romance in this story is between Maureen and Lucas. I was waiting to read their story and I’m thrilled it was worth the wait. I can’t rave enough about how much I loved this book and the series. It’s a perfect Christmas present for your friends who love to read romance. This book will join my others on my book keeper list.

2020 has been a challenging year for me to read. I picked three books to review months ago and they just sat unopened. I chose this particular book because I recognized the author as one I’ve read before and had enjoyed. I wasn’t sure if the timing to start a book yesterday was the best. However, once I started I was unable to put it down. Sophie’s Choice was the perfect distraction I needed.

I was especially excited to learn that this book is the first in The Ladies of Harrington House series. The cast of characters were relatable and well developed which made me anticipate the next book in the series. There are three sisters that will each get their own love story, Sophie, Catherine and Leah. Sophie’s Choice can easily be read as a standalone.

Sophie was my ideal heroine. I love witty, smart, independent woman with a touch of vulnerability. I equally love a hero who counteracts that. It makes for a fun entertaining read. Kudos to the couple when their bantering makes me laugh. I love a sparing couple who clearly is sensually attracted to each other with a web of other plot elements that keep the plot flowing and twisting.

Lord Bryce made my book boyfriend list. He had it all going on, between flirting with Sophie and infiltrating a local smuggler’s ring. I was in love.

I have to be transparent. I do want to read the rest of the books in the series especially Catherine’s story but I could see myself possibly passing on Leah’s story. She was the other sister who desired Bryce besides Sophia. It was clear as day that Bryce and Sophia were destined. Leah made for some awkward moments that added to my love of the story but to read a story of her own, I don’t know about that. Leah would seriously have to mature. It will be hard for me to forget that annoying little sister impression that I have of her.

Any hoot, I loved Sophie’s Choice and I recommend you give this series a chance.

While I was reading The Winter Companion, I had a vague feeling that I was familiar with the cast of characters and the setting. That sense of ‘knowing’ grew stronger as I continued turning the pages. I was enjoying the story too much to stop and look the book up on the internet. When I finished, I looked it up and sure enough, I was correct; I had read the first one in this series, The Matrimonial Advertisement. It all came back to me and now I’m sad that I hadn’t read the second and third books. The two that I have read can be read as standalone stories but I much prefer to go back and read the others.

This particular book was a very sweet romance with the bedroom door firmly closed. The heroine, Clara, was innocent and precious. I also found her to be intelligent but gullible yet maintained a strong independent mindset. Those conflicting set of characteristics somehow made her charming and a perfect match for the hero, Neville. Neville’s honesty and childlike mannerisms stole my heart. Together Neville and Clara built each other up. They both had issues from their past to overcome and I appreciated how they didn’t play mind games. They shared their past with each other and their dreams. It was entertaining to see them find their happily ever after.

One bone of contention I have is with Clara’s brother and her mother. Without spoiling anything, I’m not happy with how there is no mention of them afterwards. No apology or closure. I’m left with a few questions. Does Clara just never write or see them again? They were a significant part of the plot. They were the reason that Clara was a companion in the first place and ended up at Devon. I’m a picky reviewer when it comes to those kinds of loose threads.

I enjoyed the epilogue and found The Winter Companion to be an entertaining read. I’m just going to assume that Clara never spoke to her mother or her brother again as long as she lived. They didn’t deserve to have Clara in their lives anyway. What they did to her was unforgivable in my opinion. Neville’s love for Clara more than made up for this minor hiccup in the plot. Their happily ever after made for a satisfying read.

I have been looking forward to this book since I finished reading the first one in this series. I am pleased to share that I equally enjoyed The Flapper’s Baby Scandal and now I’m eager to read the third in the series when it becomes available. So far, each can be read as a standalone.

This time it was Betty’s turn to discover her happily ever after. Her love match was Henry Randall and together they made for an entertaining read. Henry didn’t make my book boyfriend list but he was perfect for Betty. Henry had multiple personal inner issues to contend with but nothing that Betty couldn’t handle. Betty’s conflict was her father. While I found all the characters to be well developed and relatable, I continue to dislike Betty’s father, Mr. Dryer, as much as I did in the first book. I totally understand how necessary it is for him to be written the way he is, but I’m still hoping his demeanor will soften by the end of the series. Because their love is the strongest element, I enjoyed the chemistry between Henry and Betty, regardless of the sour note Mr. Dryer brings to the plot.

I actually read this book on an airplane. I was on my way to move my youngest child into his dorm room. I had a lot of anxiety over wearing a facial mask on the plane and the anticipation of saying goodbye to my son until Thanksgiving. The Flapper’s Baby Scandal successfully distracted my churning thoughts.

I’m a Lauri Robinson fan so I’m biased about her novels. I have yet to be disappointed. It’s very easy for me to recommend this book.

I was already melting while camping in Georgia with weather conditions of 92 degrees Fahrenheit with a “Feels like” 117 degrees when I started reading this book, Unexpected Risk. This story was so hot that I’m pretty sure we set a temperature record at our camping site! I’m not sure if I was sweating from the outside heat or from the romance between the hero, J.T and the heroine, Janet. The pop up camper A/C gave me little relief. I’m not complaining though, mind you, for nothing was going to get me to stop turning the pages.

This wasn’t my first Desiree Holt read, however, it is my first book in The Phoenix Agency series. Unexpected Risk is actually book seven. It’s my opinion that it can be read as a standalone but I want to go back and read the previous books in the series because I fell in love with the men who work at the Phoenix Agency. I also enjoyed how the heroines have a touch of psi. I’m not a huge fan of the psychic phenomenon element in romance stories but when I read the synopsis I felt confident that I’d love it. I wasn’t disappointed at all.

This is definitely a suspense/mystery/thriller romance. I can’t resist a man in uniform protecting the woman he as fallen in love with from suspenseful danger. The mystery plot around the Darkman was shocking, riveting and unpredictable. The story ends with a cliffhanger that left me wanting more.

The love story between J.T. and Janet was breathtaking and the hot weather outside had nothing to do with me losing my breath. J.T. makes my list of book boyfriends I’d like to meet. I’m fairly certain all the men in this series would make my list. While I wait for book eight I’ll go back and read the previous six.

Regardless, I recommend reading this book by a pool where one can jump in to cool off.
