I wish I knew the songs written in the book from Mason, the hero, to Tegan, the heroine, were real and on YouTube prior to reading the book. Never have I read a book where the story and characters were as vividly alive in the room with me as the characters in this story were. I think that if I had listened to the songs as they appeared in the book, I would have melted on the spot. Maybe even go as far as faint on the spot.

I sincerely fell in love with every aspect of this story. It was uniquely clever how the author incorporated a love story on the side through Tegan reading old love letters from an ancestor. It was sheer brilliance how the author connected the closings of those love letters with the last few pages of the book. I appreciated the detail of the key that Tegan wore around her neck to the detail of her middle name. All of these special mentions made the book remarkable in my eye.

I can’t rave enough about this story. Melody’s Key was heartwarming, sweet, sensual, romantic, heartbreaking, gut wrenching with a touch of despair, funny, sad, happy, hopeful, happy, ecstatic, hilarious, and all satisfying! I can think of a specific event for each of those feelings. This book was a great ride and one that I didn’t want to end.

I fell in love with Tegan’s entire family. Her parents were supporting and her sister was hilarious with her pranks. I’ve never been to London but if I did I’d love to see Tegan’s estate. I’d want to curl up with a blanket under the old tree with big roots. I wish the characters and places in this book were real.

Everything about this book worked. My interest was captured from the first page to the last. I couldn’t put the book down. Reading as the romance budded and blossomed between Mason and Tegan was scrumptious. The story was consistently enthralling from beginning to end.

I highly recommend everyone to read this book. I would love to see this book made into a movie. I’d pay to go see this movie the night it’d premiere. I’d buy this book. I’d actually read it more than once. Those who know me know that I never read a book twice. I’m tempted to re-read it now just to pause at the song parts. 🙂 This is seriously a major “book glow” book!

Known as The Marble Duke amongst the Ton, Garret Weston, the Duke of Kendal, sets himself apart from his peers. Nothing will hinder his guilt-driven attempt to become a perfect duke. Nothing, that is, save the alluring and imaginative betrothed he’d thought dead. His intended believes-of all things-that she is a Vicar’s daughter. The “perfect” duke needs a “perfect” duchess, but how is he to discern her suitability? Employing her as a governess to his niece seems like an ideal solution. But whose “suitability” is being tested? His betrothed refuses to see he is beyond redemption. And most grievous of all, she stirs his blood, making him forget what’s important. Cara believes fairy tales really can come true, until she meets the unrelenting and arrogant Duke of Kendal. He looks like a Prince, but acts like a Beast. Why must he challenge her at every turn? Her greatest peril is her attraction to the vulnerable, seductive man behind the title. A match between them would be impossible. But can she show him, without losing her heart, that “perfect” is in the eye of the beholder?

Many elements of this book made it a 5 star. If I could give an award then I’d give The Perfect Duke an award for “unique and clever writing style”. I especially liked how the author implemented quotes from classic fairytales stories before each chapter. I’m often told to stop living in a fairy tale world. Well, I’ll take a fairy tale world over reality any day. I could tell that each quote was carefully selected to be relevant to that particular part of the story. A brilliant enrichment! Beauty and the Beast is by far one of my favorite love stories with Cinderella a close second.

Garret Weston, the hero, was known as the “The Marble Duke” amongst the Ton. He has his reasons for why he is the way he is. An empathetic reader will understand and be patient while his cold heart softens. Just consider him The Beast in this love story. Cara, the heroine, has a complex history of her own and should be considered Cinderella in this story. However, forget what you know about those tales because The Perfect Duke is its own fairy tale story. Together they are the perfect match for one another as they overcome each of their pasts, survive the present and figure out their future. The chemistry between the two is hot enough to keep me warm on a chilly night.

There are many characters that played an intricate part in this riveting plot that I quickly fell in love with. One of them was Garret’s sister, Mallory. She was a hoot when she showed up at the engagement ball. In fact I’d love to read a story with her as the heroine.

Just when you expect what will happen, the unexpected happens. This story was a quick paced story that was impossible to put down. Once again, I was up at 2am finishing the book even knowing I had to get up at 6am for work. I desperately wanted to put it down so I could go to sleep but I could not, for I knew I’d never fall asleep without knowing how in the world Garret and Cara’s love would survive all the complications.

I absolutely love stories that have an epilogue. This epilogue was worth staying up past my bedtime. I admit that I experienced a major “Book Glow”. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. As the author wrote “—as long as you believe, fairy tales really can come true.” I’m blessed that I had a wonderful work day despite my sleep deprivation because Garret and Cara lived “Happy Ever After”!

Will Clare and Jack be able to survive the deceptively peaceful Iron City?

This book started off rock solid. I thought I found another winner. I was proud of Clare, the heroine, for making the brave decision to walk away from her troubled Milwaukee city life to start a new life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She’s finally going to stand on her own and achieve her dreams. I enjoyed reading her pull from her inner strength to accomplish her goals in spite of her insecurities.

Jack, the hero, was equally brave and irresistible and thankfully well equipped to keep Clare safe from the relentless danger that followed her from Milwaukee. The chemistry between Clare and Jack was “Awe” worthy. I especially loved how and why Jack came to Clare’s rescue when she was cleaning the garage. I got quite the chuckle. Jack always came through just in the nick of time, thank goodness.

The synopsis refers to a plot thread about Clare’s alleged involvement with the Fire Chief and his “ring of female admirers”. Unfortunately, this is where I felt that the book faltered. The premise was farfetched. Another thing that hit a wrong note for me was the last chapter. It was as if the author pushed the fast forward button to quickly wrap-up the book. I kind of felt cheated.

Up until the last speedy chapter, the novel was consistently filled with suspense, mystery, and developments that were unpredictable, and that kept me turning the pages. Thankfully the evolving love story between Jack and Clare was well written and kept me plugged in until I reached the happy ending.

Taken by Surprise was a well-paced read with all the threads nicely tied up with a successful satisfactory conclusion. I would recommend this book.

A fantastic read! It hooked me immediately and I absolutely loved the mystery and suspense intertwined with the evolving yet forbidden romance between Kady Larkin Rosham, the heroine and Sir Talon Quereste, the hero.

I fell in love with the well developed, complex characters that are threaded through out the story, all of whom kept me on my toes along with the twists and turns of the well written intricate plot.

The relationship between Lady Larkin and Sir Talon consisted of witty banter mixed with sensual desires. I giggled over the song he sang to her and I still smile thinking about it! This was a well written, nicely paced, realistic love story. I enjoyed reading this story while sitting on a 9 hour plane ride. Only problem is I still have 5 more hours before this plane lands and I’m sitting here smiling like a goofball thinking about Amos Tanner & Tamar Freeman.

The story quickly drew me in on the first page. Tamar is a strong, intelligent independent, mid 30’s respectable lady. Amos’ character is complicated but that is the intriguing part of the story that kept me glued to turning the pages. He is an ethical, honor bound gorgeous and strong. He’s the kind of hero that is more than capable of filling my dreams, oh, I mean, he met my ideal “book boyfriend” expectations. The chemistry between the two made it a bit awkward to be sitting near a stranger on a plane!

The plot is clever and unique in a couple of ways that I can’t share without spoiling the surprises. It was refreshing to read a story that was skillfully written by an obviously talented author. This story made my heart swell and brought a genuine smile to my face. It was a fully satisfying happy ending that came sooner than I wanted it to.

I could see a story in the future for Tamar’s sister, Delia that I’d be interested in reading.

I am glad I chose to read this book and I can easily recommend it to others.

Besides, reconnecting with his former fling has benefits, as long as he doesn’t get distracted by their mutual attraction. Will Danny and Clover let their ambition keep their hearts divided?

I loved the movie Pretty Woman and this book was just as good but better because of a cleverly introduced stray dog that was just as much a main character as the humans. Angel Crossing was a place where I would love to live and raise my family along with the close knit townsfolk that stand by one another and have each other’s backs. Danny’s family and friends were well developed characters that enhanced the love story between Clover and Danny.

The book moved along at a reasonably steady pace that kept my interest and had me anticipating each encounter between Clover and Danny. I wasn’t sure if it was going to make me laugh, annoy me or give me a temporary glow. This is a testimony to Ms. Hormel’s writing skills because she was able to pull at all my emotions. It was captivating to read how Clover and Danny were both out to save a dying town with different methods that weren’t compatible. Yet, was their love strong enough to survive the conflict of interest?

First the heroine, Clover Van Camp, was a controlled by her wealthy mother who wanted her to be nothing more than a beauty queen in her successful clothing fashion company while never letting Clover apply her MBA diploma and help run the company. Clover’s parents are divorced and her father offers her a dream job at his wealthy and successful company that would supposedly give her the opportunity to show that she’s more than just a pretty face. So we have a “Miss Steer Princess” wannabe CFO heroine. Then we have a poor redneck bull riding cowboy turned Mayor of Angel Crossing, Danny Leigh. You’ll have to read why and how he became mayor when he was at the top of his bull riding career.

What we have is a classic “rich versus poor” budding romance. Mr. Van Camp, Clover’s father, didn’t think Danny was good enough for his daughter when they first met when they were younger, nor has his opinion of Danny changed years later. Regardless of the fact that her father was never an award-winning father-of-the-year kind of parent, Clover just can’t stop trying to gain her parents’ approval, then or now. I found it annoying but believe me, it was necessary for the finale at the end. While all of this sounds like a typical cliché with some parts of the story being totally predictable, the love story itself still got me. Their romance is the heart of the book.

The Bull Rider’s Redemption was an enjoyable, easy read. It’s definitely one I’d recommend to pass a couple of hours. I do feel that a reader new to the romance genre would totally enjoy this novel. However, an experienced and avid romance book reader would spot the clichés and time-tested, well used plot techniques early on. And, believe me, I did. However, I know if this book was one of the first few romance stories I’d ever read, The Bull Rider’s Redemption would have been listed as one of my favorite books.

Together, they tangle with a goofy dog, exploding trucks, an unfortunate synchronized swimming episode, homicidal thugs, a corrupt building inspector, disappearing corpses, a kidnapping, and the threat of live cremation, all to deliver a kick-ass grand opening.

Cold Feet Fever is the novel to choose for pure escapism and light reading.

The characters were well developed although very stereotypical. The romance between the hero, Sam and the heroine, Katie, worked well. I enjoyed watching Katie fight for what she believed in and watching Sam grow from a lazy, selfish, immature boy into a man worthy of Katie’s love. Sam’s grandfather was quite humorous. Sam’s dog, Rex was comical. The criminal connections could have been more elaborated on as it would have made the conflict more serious and less silly.

This book was mostly enjoyable. While I wouldn’t consider it a waste of time, it certainly didn’t hook me to where I couldn’t put it down, which in some ways is a good thing when I have other things I need to do. I was able to get reabsorbed into the story each time I picked it back up. I had hoped to get more riveted as I progressed through the book but the plot was a bit too imaginative for me. I prefer things to be a bit more realistic and plausible. However, this farfetched plot had enough entertainment value to finish reading it.

Even though I had expected the secrets and crime to be more intense and real, the story flowed smoothly and provided me with both predictable and delightfully creative plot twists. The book ended with all the threads neatly knotted and with a happy closure.

Although this novel won’t go on my keeper shelf, I can think of a couple of friends that might enjoy this read. They prefer light conflicts and a strong sense of the silly and Cold Feet Fever delivers both. It would be right up their alley.

Miss Annabel Bradley refuses to accept life as a spinster. Her many years of pouring greedily over gothic novels has put her head in the clouds; dreaming and hoping for the love she reads about. She has always held a tendre for her best friend, Lane Mason, seventh Earl of Devon, but she does not want to jeopardize their friendship by telling him about those indecent dreams of hers. Anna, therefore, makes a life-changing decision; she is going to accept the proposal of the next suitor to ask!

Lane Mason is an average aristocrat; absorbed in life in general, and content with his status in society. Amid a frequently occurring moment of self-loathing, Lane shockingly discovers his feelings for Anna. Now armed with the awareness of his love for Anna, Lane decides to perpetrate a devilishly clever scheme. He will pay actors to abduct the two of them in order to give Anna an adventure like the ones she reads in her treasured books.

Lane’s plans go awry, however, when they are kidnapped in truth.

It has been two days since I’ve finished this book and I’m still having a “book glow” from it. I find myself periodically reminiscing about the story and wanting to randomly say “Hell and Blazes!”, one of Lane’s favorite sayings.

I was wary when I read the synopsis because I thought it was going to be just another book about two childhood best friends that discovered later in life they were attracted to each other but they didn’t want to ruin their cherished and valued friendship. The author, Cheri Champagne, did an amazing job of taking an old cliché and turning it into an intriguing story.

I admit that I was thankful for the prologue because the first few pages in chapter one were quite ordinary. I pushed on because I knew it had to get better according to the prologue. By chapter two I was completely hooked. I was delighted by the fact that this novel kept getting better and better with every turn of the page and with every chapter I devoured. Little did I know just how absorbed by this story I would be. I never would have guessed that this book would rank as one of my favorite reads by the end. What a treasure Love’s Misadventure turned out to be.

I had actually refused to put the book down until I reached the ending. I really didn’t want the book to end even though it was 1 A.M. in the morning and I had to get up to work at 6 A.M. What I really want to know is, when will there be a book two in this Siblings Series? I can’t wait to read about Anna’s brother, Charles and Lane’s sister, Bridget. Of course I hope there is a guest appearance of Lane and Anna with an update of their relationship.

Lane and Anna were meant for each other. They were the perfect combination of sweet and sensual, with humor mixed in. Both were strong and confident. I enjoyed watching their relationship progress from a genuine friendship where they truly cared and respected each other to something more meaningful such as true love, even in the midst of being kidnapped. This is where the suspense/mystery takes place. I don’t want to spoil anything but let’s just say this story arc was brilliantly written. I was on the edge of my seat. I do hope that Anna’s brother, Charles can explain it more in book two.

The synopsis mentions that Anna would accept the proposal of the next suitor who would ask. Let’s just say that suitor was a well written twist in the plot. My favorite scene was at the Scarsdale masked ball. I love how the author wrapped up the role of this character at the end of the story.

The author did a wonderful job describing the setting which made me feel like I was in the room with the characters. I could smell, taste the food, visually see the room and feel the fear or excitement that was evolving with each printed word. It was as real as real can get!

I would recommend this book without any reservations. It was an excellent, high quality read with a sigh gasping happy ending. I thoroughly enjoyed falling in love with the characters and look forward to being reunited with them in book 2.

From the first page I was hooked! The plot was clever, engaging, and I was full of anticipation for what would happen next since there were several twists and turns. The plot wasn’t totally predictable and was mostly believable. I experienced some pleasant surprises.

Sam Hixton, the hero, was shot and left for dead but managed to stumble into Cassie’s store with a “help me” and “hide this”. If there was a “Pause Life” button I’d have pushed it then. Thank goodness such a button doesn’t exist because at 40% through the book there was a scene that literally had me stumbling and muttering to myself in a not so pleasant way. Up to this scene the author did an excellent job drawing me into the story and making me feel involved with the small struggling town with the complex locals that resided there.

The synopsis actually refers to a fateful night when the hero and heroine gave in to their fiery passion. The placement and timing was farfetched and unbelievable. Seriously, Sam is irresistible but not that irresistible. There’s a sentence that said “it wasn’t the ideal time, but he wasn’t about to argue”. The only thing that was fateful that night was the fact they chose that moment to not be able to repress their feelings another moment longer. I know this is a romance, and their desire was inevitable, but come on. Right then?

Even though the story was able to draw me back in, it was never the same; it didn’t have the same gripping power over me as it had before that ‘fateful’ event. Just when I was able to put the scene out of my mind, the couple referred to it later in the story as if it was a personal inside joke between them. They admitted that they wished their first time together was a different place and time. I could only agree with their assessment.

Regardless, I was still hooked to find out how in the world was she going to save the store and how in the world their love for each other would endure through all the obstacles and complications. I really loved it when Sam stood up for Cassie to the locals. Each time he did I was cheering “Ha! Take that!” As much as Cassie was stubborn, she was smart enough to know when to bend and when to apologize when she went too far.

The author did a good job securing a happy ending for all involved leaving me feeling justified, vindicated, and with a sweet closure. It was a nicely wrapped happy ending. It was like eating a really delicious meal that left you with mild heartburn. You know you’d eat it again but next time you’d bring the antacids with you. 🙂
