I have to note that this contemporary plot was quite original. I am an experienced reader and this plot was a refreshing read. I really enjoyed the entire book from beginning to end.

I never read a Nicola M. Cameron book before therefore I Googled to see what other books she has written since this one was such a pleasant surprise. I discovered that I’m not a candidate to read her other works. I only read historical romance, contemporary romance and a few suspense/mystery romance books. If she writes another contemporary I’d definitely give it a try.

To My Muse had me laughing quite a few times. The heroine, Lily, is quite funny. She was smart, down to earth and completely relatable. I liked all the characters but Lily’s best friend, Theresa, was the perfect BFF. Together they had me giggling. Then when you add Lily’s family into the mix, I was laughing more. Just when I didn’t think the book could make me crack up anymore I found myself laughing at the humorous conversations between Lily and the hero, Tom. I don’t understand why the author doesn’t write more contemporary stories; it’s obvious that she’s a talented writer. It got to the point that my face hurt from smiling so much.

I loved the chemistry between Lily and Tom. It felt real and full of promise. Tom was a kind, handsome and respectful leading man. Tom and Lily made a great team.

The plot made for a consistent quick paced, fun-filled read which was entertaining from beginning to end. There were several twists that made the book hard to put down. All the characters were well developed. I gave three characters the stink eye for their interference. Lily’s brother, her ex-boyfriend and Tom’s lady actress friend all made entertaining conflict between Lily and Tom. It was gut wrenching to endure but made for a book glow at the end.

I’m thankful that I got to read and review this story. I’d encourage others to read To My Muse. I enjoyed everything about it.

I really related to this book on more than one level. Sometimes I’ll read a book and wonder how realistic that plot or scene was. This story was as contemporary as contemporary can get. It couldn’t get any more realistic than it was. As it’s stated in the synopsis, the hero, Jacob Black is “a third-year law student focused on studying and getting a high-paying job with a top-notch law firm.” We all know someone who values their high-powered career over their wife and family. Aviva, the heroine, lived with her father who valued his career above all else. In fact, her father was a lawyer. Therefore you’d think that Aviva would never give Jacob a second look. She wasn’t going to marry anyone like her father. I know what it’s like to grow up and not be a priority in my parent’s eyes. Or at least the priority I felt I should have been.

I also know what it’s like to grow up poor. I could understand why Jacob felt he needed that top-notch law firm to pay off his college loans and help his mother. I understand the agonizing decision Jacob felt between fulfilling his life dream of becoming a lawyer in a top-notch law firm or choosing the temptation of working for a smaller law firm. The larger firm would force him to neglect those who love him. Whereas a smaller law firm would pay less but give him more time to have a balanced life. I could understand and relate to both the heroine and the hero. Their conflict was real and raw. If he loved her he’d choose the smaller firm. Sometimes love isn’t enough or sometimes you have to learn the hard way in life.

My husband and I were once in Jacob and Aviva’s shoes. We met in college with big dreams. My husband got that high paying job. He’s missed birthdays and anniversaries. He was gone more than he was ever home. He missed many of our sons’ early milestones and later he missed seeing their extracurricular activities. It’s a choice you have to live with. It’s not easy being the wife getting the left overs.

I could feel the love and hurt feelings between Jacob and Aviva. I wanted to scream at Jacob for his decisions. Thank God for his mother who held him accountable. Marriage isn’t easy and it’s more difficult if you and your spouse aren’t on the same page. It’s hard sometimes to get on the same page. Sometimes we need a life crisis to fix our perspective. Jacob and Aviva had a plot twist that pulled at my heart strings. It’s emotional and gut wrenching to have to go through a hardship that is a life changer, but hopefully it’s for the better. I’m just thankful that Jacob and Aviva learned what is important early in life. It’s miserable to reach midlife and realize the regrets you have that can’t be undone.

I’m confident that Jacob and Aviva are going to live a happy well balanced life. It was a very interesting plot thread how they met. I have never heard of such a speed dating event. It was clear they were attracted to each other and shared a chemistry that turned into a true love story. Five Minutes to Love caught my interest right away and kept me captivated until the end. I felt it was written very well and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The characters were well developed and relatable. I have to recommend others to read this story especially if the reader loves to read contemporary real life romance.

I don’t think I’d ever want to be a mail order bride but I enjoy reading about them. The heroine, Violet, was consistently getting herself into trouble. Fortunately for her the hero, Garrett, was there to rescue her. Together they made for a galloping fun romance.

The story line had some original aspects that were appealing to me. However, I did find that some scenes were farfetched but I found them to be entertaining. I felt the writing style was very good. My interest was captured and held throughout the story. I could feel the love and chemistry buzzing in the air. I was riveted during the suspense moments and I appreciated the surprise plot twists.

Lead Me Into Temptation was a solidly constructed book with well-developed characters that I can visualize seeing them in a book two and book three in the future. I know who I’m hoping book two is about. A significant plot thread was left unwrapped and I hope it’s addressed as the story continues in the next book. I liked reading this novel.

Well, Becker Circle is focused on young adults who live in Becker Circle, Dallas – a neighborhood much like Melrose Place.

I think this would be a great read for a younger person than myself, perhaps in their twenties. I’m way past the single dating bar scene. I prefer my romance books to have a developing love story involving a leading lady and a leading man throughout the story with a happily ever after.

The book is written around a character named Gillian. It’s written in first person which is not my favorite perspective when reading a story. However, it was well written therefore I was able to follow it. It was evident that the author did her research in regards to establishing the bar scene setting. I found myself engaged with the plot which consisted of several twists among the cast of characters. I feel the characters were thoroughly developed to give the reader a sense of camaraderie among the young adults dwelling in Becker Circle.

Gillian was an intelligent girl from Harvard without any common sense. She obviously couldn’t hold a quarter between her legs if she had to. I’m not sure how realistic this story actually is but it was entertaining. I feel like there was a piece missing in regards to her hot tempered ex-boyfriend. It was implied that he might be coming after her since she left him but that plot thread went dormant. For me that is a loose thread left unresolved.

This was definitely more of a suspense/mystery story than it was a romance. I did feel as if I was on the edge of my seat a few times. I think Becker Circle is worth recommending as long as you know what you are getting into. I can think of a couple of my friends who might like this book. One thing for sure is, Becker Circle  made me appreciate my boring middle aged, married life.

I can’t recall if I’ve ever mentioned this before but my brain is a lot like the fish, Dory, in the movie Finding Nemo. I have trouble remembering things. Fortunately for me if a book is outstanding then I’ll have a better chance of remembering it. On June 15, 2017 I read a book called Rescued by the Captain by Laura A. Barnes. I do remember absolutely loving it and wondering if there was going to be a second book. I am ecstatic to inform you that there is indeed a sequel called Rescued by the Spy.

Please indulge me by allowing me to quote from my review for “Rescued by the Captain” for a minute because I feel it absolutely applies to what I want to say about “Rescued by the Spy”. “The plot was masterly planned and executed with a steady and smooth pace. It was impossible to put the book down because the treason and romance plot kept evolving on each page”. It’s important for me to quote from my old review one more time. “While Thorn and Ivy achieved their happily ever after, I was left wondering if there will be a book two with Charles, Ivy’s brother, and Raina Le Clair, a lady who had a part in the unsolved treason plot. There needs to be a book two for Charles to complete his mission.” I am thrilled to announce that book two is indeed another masterly planned and executed story about Charles and Raina. One last quote before I jump into why I loved “Rescued by the Spy”. “Other than a serious craving for more, this was an excellent romance story that was very entertaining. The characters are well developed and I feel like I inherited another “book family”.” Book two continues to implement the well-developed characters that were equally entertaining as book one was and once again I was left with a serious craving for more since the treason plot was still left unresolved! However, this time around I know that there is going to be a book three! Yes, I will be reading book three! It’s going to be Zane Maxwell’s story and a mystery leading lady character! Maxwell is deeply involved in the treason plot. I have a feeling that Zane Maxwell’s story is going to be epic!

Okay, going back to why I told you my brain is a lot like the fish, Dory, in the movie Finding Nemo. Well, that’s because I read the first book a year ago and I’m ashamed I forgot some of the important details. I had a little anxiety attack wondering if I should go back and read book one. Let me reassure you that it does not matter if you read book one. The author did a fabulous job starting book two with a prologue dating six months earlier. If you read the prologue and feel lost don’t worry about it because as you continue to read the author will clear up any confusion you might have. She did a fantastic job mixing the previous book into the new book. Although, I do strongly recommend reading the first book just because it is a great story. I really enjoy Laura A. Barnes’ writing style. Both stories are filled with unexpected plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat guessing what was going to happen next.

Raina, the heroine, is an intelligent strong leading lady who is quick on her feet. It was quite entertaining how she kept eluding Charles, the hero. Charles was persistent which contributed to the amusement between them. Together they made a great team despite all the secrets that existed due to the treason and the mission. I could feel their love and chemistry and must note that their love scenes are spicy. However, it’s par for the course since the entire book is piquant!

I can’t wait to read book three. I hope the villain, Shears, has an orgasmic demise! I look forward to being reunited with Thorn, Ivy, Raina, Charles, Zane and this new mystery lady. I can’t even imagine how they will all save their beloved land of England from that despicable villain, Shears. Anyway, in case it’s not obvious, I do highly recommend reading “Rescued by the Spy”. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did.

The Rebels of Cordovia was a well written story that I felt was fun and easy to read. I was interested from the beginning to the end and pleased with how smooth the plot flowed.

The heroine, Robin and the hero, Daniel , were truly adorable. Daniel brought a smile to my face every time he teased Robin. I felt mildly bad for Robin but it was really funny. She was good natured about his teasing and she had her turn to get him back. I loved watching their relationship bloom.

I do recommend reading The Rebels of Cordovia. At the end of The Rebels of Cordovia there is an excerpt for book two in The Rebel series, The Highwayman of Cordovia. Considering how much I enjoyed reading book one I’m going to have to read book two.

Wow! Just Wow! Give me a minute to clear my romance-foggy brain and rejoin reality. Never mind, I really don’t want to. Ugh, I just want to continue living in Rydstrom Hall with Crispin, the hero, Jacinda, the heroine, and Rydstrom Hall’s staff. Sigh…Why does life have to get in the way of my fantasy world? I read this book in 24 hours. I stopped to eat, potty and a few hours of shut eye. I ignored my husband, teenage sons and my beloved dog. It was worth every minute.

This was my first Vivienne Lorret novel. The cover says “USA Today Bestselling Author”. I believe it. It was amazing. The writing style was top notch. I felt like I was watching a movie. At times I felt like I was physically in the room with the characters. I was so absorbed in the story that I couldn’t tell you what was going on around me.

The plot flowed effortlessly even with all the intricate narrative threads. The cast of characters were thoroughly developed and tangled together in a way that was spellbinding.

I’m so excited that this was book one in the Misadventures in Matchmaking series. I am very excited to know that the next Misadventures in Matchmaking novel will be released early 2019.

The heroine, Jacinda, was hilarious. I lost count how many times she made me laugh. Her relationship with Crispin made for an entertaining and heartwarming love story. The synopsis caught my interest and if it catches yours then please don’t hesitate to read this book. I can see this story being made into a movie. There was so much depth to it. My favorite characteristic of “How to Forget a Duke” was the conversations between Jacinda and Crispin. They were truly the perfect match. The buildup of chemistry between them was epic. I consider this a spicy book with a respectable presence. By the time they exchanged their first kiss I was more than ready for it to happen and I wasn’t disappointed.

I’d like to duly note that not everything is this romance book was peaches and cream. Crispin’s Aunt Hortense added some conflict to the romance and there is a character that I can’t mention that pulled at my heart strings. Crispin and Jacinda had their own inner battles to contend with. All of which only enhanced my interest to continue flipping pages to seek the culmination. Other honorable character mentions are Jacinda’s sisters and her uncle. I imagine we’ll read about them in the upcoming books since they make up the Bourne Matrimonial Agency which is the basis of this series.

The best part is, there was an epilogue! Oh, how I love when a well written story ends with one. It usually makes for a spectacular book glow. In this case it created the desire to remain in the story rather than deal with reality of switching the wash, emptying the dish washer, and sweeping the floor. Ugh…Crispin take me away!

I read an Edith Layton book nearly a year ago and it wasn’t one to put on my keeper shelf. However, I believe in second chances. I read the synopsis for A True Lady and felt the urge to give it a try since it sounded truly intriguing.

I was determined to take a day for me. I started this book with every intention of not being interrupted. I promise you this book was awesome. My husband and teenage boys were bringing out the ‘Cristable’ in me. Cristable is the heroine and she was fantastic. She was the daughter of a pirate. I love stories with pirates in them. She wouldn’t take kindly to being interrupted while reading her book. No ma’am, she’d whip out one of the many weapons on her person and threaten their life while giving them a good ear full. I was really close to speaking my mind in ‘Cristable fashion’ to my family. I felt emboldened reading this story! I wasn’t going to Publix to get pepperoni because they wanted to make pizza and we were out. I was in the middle of an intense love story!

The plot was spectacular. I thought to myself “Oh my gosh!” more than once. The creativity it takes to come up with riveting scenes one after the other is pure talent. I consider myself a pretty imaginative person and I didn’t predict the outcome of this story. There is a delicious suspense drama mixed into this story. There is so much more to this book that the synopsis doesn’t even hint at. What a wonderful surprise. I will say that Edith Layton does have a unique writing style. She knows how to create a web of well-developed characters that flows with a steady pace of entertainment. They interact and flow back and forth between characters without skipping a beat. From start to finish I was on an endless journey of surprise and pleasure. I was genuinely impressed with the writing skill it took to write Cristabel’s speech from pirate lingo to speaking like a true Lady would in that time period.

The hero Magnus was–Oh my goodness–book glow worthy. No woman in her right mind would be able to resist Magnus. At first I didn’t care for the character Black Jack but by the end I was kind of liking him. I’d be interested in reading a book with him as the hero. Magnus’s brother and his wife were slightly annoying to me at times but in the grand scheme of things I can easily over look that blemish. Of course I would have enjoyed an epilogue. Seriously, though, this book was nearly perfect.

I have to recommend this book to those who enjoy reading pirate stories like me. This was a wonderful romance story between Cristable and Magnus. Their love story reminds me that our past does not dictate our future. There is hope and true love for everyone who believes.

This was an enjoyable book that I wasn’t able to put down. I found it to be well written and entertaining.

The hero, Jake was dreamy and I wouldn’t have minded being his prisoner. Kate was a lucky lady to be in Jake’s protection. Together they made me feel all gushy and happy. I feel the cast of characters were well developed and I connected with each one.

The plot was mostly believable with some pleasant twists and turns mixed with some suspense elements. The epilogue was appreciated at the end. I was left feeling like I had just watched a really good movie.

This would be a great book to read on a relaxing camping trip.

Despite relying on a lot well-worn storytelling techniques, I can classify this novel as an entertaining read that was worth my time.

Dalton Kincade is the hero in this romance and he carried the momentum for me in this story. He had his reasons for leaving the heroine, Cassie Wilcox, to join the rodeo for two years. Cassie should have understood. Yes, she suffered a broken heart when he left but under the circumstances, she should have had a less selfish perspective, especially after two years. It obviously hurt him to leave too.

Cassie’s stubbornness and pride was borderline annoying. For that reason I had a hard time connecting with her “woe is me, I must save the ranch all by myself” attitude. It was a broken record to hear Cassie constantly talk about how she can make more money to save the ranch. I’d say that Cassie was the most presumptuous character I’ve ever read. Some of her solutions to make money were surreal and unrealistic. All I know is that Dalton had way too much patience and clearly loved her more than she loved him. Although their past love was well established, the chemistry in the present was lacking. There were some good moments when Cassie let down her walls and showed some vulnerability. I wished there were more scenes like that. It would have helped.

Cassie viewed Dalton as bossy, stubborn and a man who will always try to step in and save her. I didn’t view Dalton as bossy and stubborn at all. I actually viewed the heroine as ungrateful that she didn’t appreciate his stepping in to help her. What’s wrong with a man who loves you wanting to protect and help you? I’m not saying Dalton was perfect but I sure liked him more.

Some upbeat and positive elements were when Cassie and Dalton kept making wagers back and forth between themselves. That added a bit of humor into the story and helped me to connect to them as a couple. They did have some sizzling scenes but that only reinforced my impression that Dalton was too good for Cassie.

Some characters were more developed than others. Cassie’s stepfather, Gary Evans, was definitely a loser, a dirt bag, and a pathetic piece of life. He added suspense and drama to the story because he was the main conflict throughout the book. How his character was handled at the end didn’t exactly work for me. One of my pet peeves is not having all the plot threads tied up. I need absolute, complete closure. There must be justice. I don’t want to speculate in my head that everything worked out. I love happy endings with a pretty bow. There at least could have been an epilogue. If it weren’t for Dalton, then this entire book would have been infuriating to me.

Betting on Kincade was a good read. It was mostly enjoyable. I made it through and didn’t consider it a waste of my time, because time and time again Dalton drew me back into the story and kept my interest. I know not all romance books can be smooth sailing. Reading this book was like being in a car with a manual transmission whose driver didn’t know how to drive a stick shift. You’re just glad to be out of the house and going for a ride. You just have to hang on even when you hit the potholes because spending time with Dalton Kincade is SO worth the risk.
