This is a must read book! I just finished reading Desert Rose and the first word that comes to my mind is: original. It’s not quite like any other book that I’ve read. The best way for me to explain that statement is to share this: while I was reading it, I felt there was an “air of nonfiction” or, for lack of a better word, “truth”, involved. I felt the author didn’t just do research about Russian culture, fossil hunting, vintage clothing or classical music, but perhaps actually had life experiences herself to be able to write such a vivid descriptive story. J. Arlene Culiner brought the book to life. At the end of the story there is an “About the Author” and it all made sense. She has lived a fascinating life. It come through in her writing style by giving it an element of experience. I was fascinated to read about those subjects through the hero and heroine’s perspectives.

This story is a romance of second chances. I’m excited that it’s book one in the Romance in Blake’s Folly series. I am looking forward to returning to Blake’s Folly, Nevada to be reunited with the cast of characters that I’ve grown to love in Desert Rose.

I would love for Rose, the heroine, and Jonah, the hero, to have a guest appearance in book two. I don’t feel like I got enough of them. There was so much build up and worry about each other having unrequited love that the culmination was immensely satisfying but made for a quick ending.

It was hard not to fall in love with Jonah. He was a sweet hero who deserved a happy ever after. It took awhile for Rose to grow on me because she was always surrounded by a group of male admirers. However, now I can’t wait to read about these male admirers who I hope will be in the future Blake’s Folly series.

I really enjoyed this story. I didn’t want to put it down and when I had to, I found it easy to pick up where I left off and resume reading without skipping a beat. It was refreshing to read an original plot that was written in a unique setting with memorable characters. It was definitely worth my time to read and I easily recommend it to others.

I honestly enjoyed this story. I must caution against reading it while hungry. The heroine, Lena, is a chef. The writer, Chelle de Notte, does an incredible job of describing Lena’s food creations. While I am mentioning the authors writing style I need to share how much I appreciated her attention to detail when describing New York City at Christmas time. I’ve never been and someday hope to see the famous Christmas decorations myself.

Christmastime in New York City was a heartwarming romance that was over before I wanted it to be. I adored the hero, Ryan for his dedication to running his dad’s farm and his loyalty to family and friends. Which points to the fact that the side characters were well developed and relatable. We never met Lena’s family other than her ex-husband who had a small appearance. Mostly the side characters for Lena were her co-workers. One in particular, the bartender, was very contemporary. Over all the cast of characters were a nice blend.

The chemistry between Lena and Ryan was a classic romance. I like how they respected each other and didn’t rush into anything right away. It was nice to watch their love for one another grow and develop. They were mature, responsible and clearly attracted to each other. I was wishing the snow storm would never stop so that Ryan could stay snowbound in New York forever.

The only plot thread that bothered me was Ryan’s dad. I felt bad for him in the end but it was obviously his dad’s issue to work through. Unfortunately, this scenario is all to realistic.

The ending was pretty good. It left me with a satisfying read. I’d recommend this book. It’s was a great way to relax during my camping trip.

This is a book that I couldn’t put down despite the fact that it was past my bedtime. I eventually had to for the sake of being able to function at my job the next day. However, the level of my function was up for debate because all I could do was think about getting home to finish this book! That’s the type of book Dearly Beloved is, life gripping! While reading it I kept thinking how I couldn’t wait to write a review for it. Thanks to unfortunate circumstances such as getting sick, it’s been a couple of days since I finished the book but I’m finding that my love for it hasn’t diminished one bit. I’m super excited that it’s book one in the series! Yeah for me! I’ll be reading the next book when it’s released.

This happens to be my second book that I’ve read by Peggy Jaeger and I’m going to have to officially classify myself as a Peggy Jaeger fan. She writes amazing books with unforgettable characters that you wish you personally knew.

Some people say that romance bridal books are no longer fashionable, and they might decide not to read this book, at which point I say, they are missing out on an entertaining read. Dearly Beloved was more than an entertaining read for me because I really connected with the cast of characters. I loved Colleen, the heroine and her family, the O’Dowds, especially Nanny Fee. Oh, and it’s a huge understatement to say that I fell head over heels for the hero, Slade. I mean, seriously, just his name is drool worthy.

An element of the writing style in Dearly Beloved that I particularly enjoyed was the use of colloquialisms. I want to go back and write some of them down and use them in my verbiage repertoire. I just thought that they were clever, funny and implemented at the most appropriate timing.

I have to address the relationship between Colleen and Slade. Slade has, let me just say, some issues that fortunately for him, Colleen is a strong woman who has the necessary skills and family support to help him see the light, if you will. Their romance left me feeling a beautiful book glow at the end. There was plenty of chemistry between these two to light up the night.

Needless to say this was an awesome book. I’d like to personally thank Peggy Jaeger for writing one of my favorite themes since quality bridal romance books are hard to find these days. Now, I just need to practice some patience for the next book in the A Match Made in Heaven series to come out.

It was obvious to me that a lot of thought was put forth in developing quality characters that I found to be relatable. I especially enjoyed the well crafted drama with all the unexpected plot twists that captured my interest from beginning to end. I’m not sure how realistic it all was but that isn’t a huge criteria for me as long as it’s plausible which I believe it could be.

The moral of this story is to not procrastinate. Typically when one procrastinates there is a negative outcome. In this story the heroine, Nicole, demonstrates a positive outcome from her procrastination for she would never have had met the hero, Reece. Though I’d like to point out there are different reasons for a person to procrastinate. It’s one thing if it’s because of laziness or lack of desire. It’s another thing when a person procrastinates because of lack of confidence as it was in this heroine’s case. I personally struggled with Nicole’s lack of self worth. At times her insecurities led to me feeling irritated with her instead of sympathetic, especially when it caused the romance to be on again and off again. However, that is my personal hang up. I will admit that the HEA was worth the emotional roller coaster I endured.

I did love Nicole’s quick wit though. She always had the last word with a quick come back that made me laugh. The chemistry between Nicole and Reece was so hot that I’m surprised the pages didn’t naturally combust. I definitely wasn’t feeling the cold weather outside.

An Accidental Love Affair was a fun contemporary read.

The heroine, Natalie, experiences a misfortune “in the most unspeakable way imaginable”. That’s putting it mildly. My heart was broken for her daughter. I had a little bit of trouble getting past that plot thread because that’s such a sensitive subject. Regardless, it was inspirational to see Natalie rebuild her life.

The hero, Jack Kinsen, was almost too good to be real. I think he had to be written that way if Natalie was ever going to learn to trust in humanity and find herself again.

It was emotionally rewarding to watch Jack and Natalie’s love grow for each other. They make the saying “love conquers all” believable.

The book engaged my interest right away with a prologue and definitely held my attention throughout the story. I knew the suspense part was coming and I could hardly remain on my seat. I appreciate that there was an epilogue for me to bask in.

In conclusion I’d definitely recommend this book to my friends who enjoy to read a love story with an emotionally satisfying resolution.

I grew up watching Western movies and Western TV shows therefore I’ve always had the fantasy of falling in love with a forbidden Native American tribe member only for us to live our happily ever after.

I got to live my fantasy through Ace, the heroine, and John the hero. The author did a great job making their love seem real, like it was meant to be, and heartwarming.

There was depth to this story with multiple layers with intertwining characters. I was fully invested with everything that was going with each character. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It was one of those, “it’s late and I’ll just finish the paragraph. No, wait, there’s only 3 pages left in the chapter. I’ll just finish the chapter.” Then I’d look so see how short the next chapter was. I had a hard time putting the book down.

There was drama in Ace’s family that she was dealing with and John was dealing with his own family drama and then together as a couple they had “hurdles thrown by well-meaning family members and jealous frenemies”. Those “frenemies” added to the suspense throughout the book.

The only thing that kept me from rating this a Best Book was the ages of the hero and heroine. I had to mentally block the fact that they were eighteen out of my head. Nowhere was I prepared to learn that. I just couldn’t accept that. I’m forty seven years old and I have an eighteen year old son. I would have been more comfortable with the entire book if they were juniors in college. Perhaps on the reservation on internships. All I’m saying is the age didn’t work for me. Nowhere did it say it was a young adult romance. If it did I woundn’t have chosen to read it. That is my personal hiccup.

In conclusion, Cherokee Summer was outstanding in the grand scheme of things. I was entertained, heart warmed and found a new author that I’d like to read more books from.

I loved this book! When I read the blurb for The Bottom Line I knew I had to read it. I’d like to point out that it doesn’t matter if you read the first three books in this series or not. This was a perfect stand alone.

I LOVE hockey players. I spent my teenage years going to the games just to drool over them. I did happen to meet my husband at a hockey game. He never played professionally but he did grow up playing hockey. A funny story is that he claims he married me on false pretenses. He was under the impression that I enjoyed sports since he met me at a hockey game. He had no idea I was clueless about the actual game but I could tell you all the players names and numbers and if they were single.

The heroine, Taylor was extremely relatable. I could understand Taylor’s thought process as if they were my own. It’s a struggle to gain the confidence to try something new. Especially when your entire life was planned, goal oriented towards one objective. Then when you achieve what you worked so hard for only to discover you hate it is mind boggling. All I ever wanted was to be a teacher. I learned pretty quickly that it wasn’t for me. It took me many years to work up the courage to quit like Taylor did. I love how she turned her life around and took charge again. I only wish I had that kind of courage. Fear of failing is paralyzing. I admired how Taylor accepted the challenge to rebuild her career.

The hero, Hunter, had his own internal demons to contend with which put them at similar crossroads. Together as a couple they could understand each other and support each other which made their relationship real and honest. I enjoyed watching their love evolve. Even when they had their first fight. I especially loved their first encounter with each other. I’ve often fantasized over a hockey player making a hard-hitting play that’d break the glass in front of me. I fell in love with Hunter as quick as Taylor did. They had all the right “feel-goods” in a memorable romance story.

This was my first Aven Ellis book and I loved her writing style enough to want to go back and read the other three books in this series. I grew fond of the side characters and I googled that they have their own story in the series. I’ve never been to Chicago but I want to go now just to try a Chicago hot dog. I’m not sure if I’d like it because I’m more like Hunter with his love for ketchup.

The Bottom Line was a heartwarming and entertaining read. The bottom line for me was this book was a score!

This is the cutest, sweetest story that I’ve read in a very long time. I loved it. I was smitten from the beginning to the end which made it impossible to put down. I adored all the characters especially the hero, Kurt, and the heroine, Mary. Of course they had some issues to work through but that just made the book all the more riveting. I have a soft spot for the stories similar to The City Mouse, Country Mouse.

This book was the perfect get-away filled with Christmas magic, first love, and landscape so breathtaking I didn’t want to leave. I didn’t know it was a prequel to a series when I started reading it. Boy! I’m glad to learn that there is a book two. Christmas on Maplewood Mountain left me craving for more. I didn’t want it to end.

I definitely suggest that this book be given a chance.

For a contemporary book, A Perfect Picture of Us delivered a unique and enjoyable love story with great potential.

I enjoyed the emphasis on the value of family throughout the story. I appreciated the messages that were conveyed about having perseverance through adversity and having a strong moral work ethic. I felt connected with the side characters and enjoyed bonding with them through the story.

The entire outline of the story was well developed and the plot consisted of several plot threads which made the book engaging from beginning to end. Even with all those positives, I found the delivery poorly orchestrated, preventing this book from reaching its full potential. The writing style used to show the romance between the heroine, Jess, and the hero, Leo, didn’t work for me. The main issue was repetition. There were chunks of paragraphs I skimmed over because… “been there, read that”. I’m not being snarky here but I felt I was seeing a lot of information repeated and the story suffered because of it.

I am a fan of romance stories that centers around second chances but the author pulled a fast one. Based on a line in the synopsis, “This meeting is his chance to say good-bye and finally move on…” I was convinced the storytelling botched up the second chance and I should have seen that coming. However, the epilogue saved the day and healed my heartache. It was well worth enduring all that skimming to see Jess and Leo getting over their past childhood hurts, mistaken assumptions and self-centeredness. They sure went through a lot to get to the other side – happiness and love.

A Perfect Picture of Us is definitely filled with drama that pulled at my heart strings. This was a sweet romance with a rewarding happily ever after.

When I read “Sparks fly when tenacious mountain climber and hiker Beasley McLemore meets hot smoke jumper Will Gregor on a search and rescue mission in Yosemite.” in the blurb, I couldn’t wait to read this story. That snippet sounded like a nice juicy medium rare steak to me. Top that off with “Through life-changing events and a family mystery,” I thought I was in for a delicious book glow.

I had to adjust my expectations a bit. Even though the story wasn’t as strong as I hoped, I was still satisfied with the scenic descriptive writing style, the well-developed side characters and pace of the book. Those are important characteristics for me and if a book is good, they’re in there. That’s a strong plus for Wildfire and Roses.

Instead of a book glow, the novel left me feeling like I do when I go to my favorite restaurant, order my favorite steak and it arrives not cooked as expected. Instead of complaining and returning it I still eat it because, hey, steak. So, while it still tasted good, it wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for. That’s pretty much sums up how I felt about this book.

The author switched things up with her character’s personalities. I found the hero, Will Gregor, to be relatable but his character was suppressed to an unrealistic humbleness, mixed with a slightly elevated estrogen level. It wasn’t exactly a match for his job description. As for Beasley McLemore, the heroine, she had a bit too much testosterone going on with her skill set. I love a strong leading lady but there needs to be a delicate balance between the two characters to convince me of their chemistry.

If I were to compare the book to a recipe, a baker needs the right amount of flavoring and spices to make it work. And, I know reviews and taste buds are all subjective. While I still connected with Will and Beasley, I struggled with the on again off again dynamic between them.

Overall I enjoyed the plot thread and found Wildfire and Roses to be an entertaining read. I loved the moral message of prioritizing work, love and life. I think that was a realistic struggle that many of us deal with on a daily basis. I loved the flare of drama and thought the ending was complete. Will and Beasley left me with a satisfied ending. There’s enough solid writing in this book to make it worth a recommend.
