Laura A. Barnes is one of my favorite authors. Every time one of her books appears to review, I’m quick to request it. I’ve read all the books in the Tricking the Scoundrels series. Each one can be read as a standalone but I’d never recommend reading just one. That would be like eating one bite of your favorite dessert. That’s practically a criminal act in my mind!

The synopsis is descriptive therefore if this book sounds appealing to you then I highly suggest reading it. I couldn’t put it down. I long awaited to read Kathleen and Devon’s love story. It didn’t disappoint. Their romance made me want to swoon. Their chemistry was sin worthy. I was delirious when I reached the end of the story and found an epilogue. I couldn’t get enough and wanted more. In fact I felt triumphant when I found out that there is going to be a fifth book! I’m not ready for this cast of characters’ stories to be concluded. I was euphoric when I read that book five will be Belle’s story. Who will be the mystery man that broke her heart? Surely it will be a scoundrel but which one? I haven’t a clue. I have to wait until September.

I’d like to thank Laura A. Barnes for writing wonderful books to escape reality. Everyone has trials and tribulations in life and it’s a blessing when you can depend on a certain author to write a book that allows the reader to find a few hours of enjoyment. I look forward to reading the next story in the series.

I love when I get the opportunity to begin a new series. Lauri Robinson is one of my favorite authors. The synopsis sounded unique. I haven’t come across many books written during the roaring twenties and I find this setting appealing. I appreciated the author’s list of slang words and phrases that were popular during that time period prior to the start of the story especially because it made me feel like I was back in that time era. Most of the words and phrases on the list were new to me and fun to learn. One of the reasons that Lauri Robinson is one of my favorite authors is because of her natural ability to write books with a realistic feeling. She consistently has a way of bringing a reader into the story with her attention to detail.

I can also testify to the consistency of the author’s writing skills for providing a cast of characters that are relatable and easy to bond with. This is not my first series by Lauri Robinson. The three sisters presented to the reader in this series were easy to connect with. The only character that I disliked was the father, Mr. Dryer. However, I get how it is necessary for him to be written as he is for he causes the conflict. I hope his demeanor will soften by the end of the series but I suspect it won’t. With having said that, it’s an example of how the book is unpredictable. The reader is taken on an adventure with a creative and twisting plot.

Patsy, the heroine, and Lane, the hero, kick of the series and they made for a great start. Their chemistry was thick in the air but innocent. I’d consider this to be a sweet/spicy romance. I loved Patsy’s spunk and Lane’s seriousness. Patsy brought out Lane’s fun side. Together they complete each other. I love how Lane was supportive of Patsy’s dream.

The story started with an attention gripper that hooked me and kept me turning pages until the end. I loved how there was an epilogue. I was left with feeling of glee and a definite book glow.

After reading this book, I am eager to read the next one in the series. I’m not sure which sister will be next but I can’t wait for each of them to have their own happily ever after.

This novel was an across-the-board entertaining read. The plot consisted of a steady pace that took this reader on an adventure that left me riveted to my seat until the end. There were two specific scenes where I expected a dramatic plot twist yet there wasn’t one. That in itself was a startling turn of events and it made the story unpredictable. At one point I was expecting the worst case scenario and my stress was high. You have no idea of the vast wave of relief I felt when it didn’t occur. Since reviews are a matter of opinion, someone else might be disappointed with that writing style but I wasn’t. I experienced plenty of anxiety provoking plot lines throughout the story to make up for it.

This book is actually Charles R Darner, Jr.’s second book. The main characters are the same in both books, however, each can be read as a standalone. I was pleased with the addition of the new cast members. The author provided just enough character development to keep the story going without me getting lost or confused.

My husband often says to get my head out of my books, that they aren’t real. I know they are make-believe but sometimes I have to wonder, how real could it be? How many times has fiction turned into fact? I have a new perspective when I see a Coast Guard helicopter fly over the beach.

I enjoyed reading Narco-Submarine, Cartel’s Silent Service and look forward to the next installment in this series. I’m interested in finding out how Sarah and Jarratt met. I recommend this book to other readers that like action/adventure. It sure kept me turning the pages.

I’m going to mail this book to my mother. She was the one that got me hooked on romance books and this is more her type of book than mine. She enjoys historical romances of adventure and faith. I know my mom would enjoy the characters that displayed endurance through hardships through prayer while showing discipleship to others. Her favorite television show was Little House on the Prairie.

The Outlaw’s Second Chance would meet all her expectations and more. Not only was it well written, it was also entertaining. I just know she’d recommend this book to her Christian friends.

Speaking for myself, I prefer a book with a little bit more sensual chemistry between the hero and heroine. Perhaps that’s why my mom prays for my soul, LOL. The hero, Cort Stanton, has a past that he’s running from. Aubrey Huxley, the heroine, is also running from her past but they are both running for completely different reasons and looking for different outcomes. They are both stubborn and pigheaded so it was interesting to see how they could overcome their obstacles, to be able to give their hearts to each other. Praise God they saw the light.

I have to be transparent. I obtained this book out of desperation. I forgot to bring a book on our camping trip. I found a lending library box at the camp store. It was the only romance paperback there and the cover looked aesthetically pleasing. The synopsis on the back sounded interesting so I snagged it. I didn’t even realize it was a Christian romance. I’ve read a few in my lifetime so I gave it a try. What choice did I have? I needed something to pass the time. The best thing about taking that chance was the outcome; I was pleased because it ended up being a good read. Yes, there was scripture written in the story but it wasn’t holier than thou, in your face, making me feel like a sinner who needed to repent, kind of book.

In conclusion, if you love innocent, sweet, Christian books then this one is a winner. I’ve never read a book by Angie Dicken before but I’d consider reading another book by her. I can easily recommend The Outlaw’s Second Chance.

Okay, here’s the deal. I’ve been waiting for this book since I read book one in this series,and loved it to the moon and back. Let me start by saying you can’t compare the two books. They are totally different and each can be read as a standalone.

With that being said, I also want to point out that the synopsis for this book does not do it justice. It’s interesting to me how sometimes I can read a synopsis and after reading the book realize that there wasn’t anything more because it laid out the entire plot with no surprises. Talk about disappointing! But with Today, Tomorrow, Always, its blurb caught my attention but while reading quickly figured out that there was so much more to the story. Holy moly, that synopsis did not prepare me for the emotional roller coaster the story took me on.

When reading a series, I find it hard not to compare between the books. This series isn’t any different. The first book made me laugh and the second one made me cry. We’re talking ugly cry. “I don’t even want to talk about it” kind of cry. I’m all for a heartwarming romance stories but this one crossed into the Disney break-your-heart arena. Some people love that kind of gut wrenching, tear your heart out, happily ever after drama. Traditionally I avoid that deep thought-provoking emotional turmoil. I stopped reading Nora Robert’s books and I’ve never read a Nicholas Sparks book, nor do I intend to. However, Peggy Jaeger’s writing style eloquently and solidly carried me through to reach my well-deserved happily ever after ending.

I anticipate there will be a third book in the series about the remaining single sister, Maureen. Based on what I already know, I’m suspecting who her match is going to be and I’m intrigued how that’s going to play out. It’s especially worth considering because of what was revealed about what he may or may not know since he was the best friend. Without spoiling anything, I’m assuming he didn’t know and can’t wait to find out in the third book if I’m correct.

The heroine in this book was Cathleen O’Dowd. It was fun to read the story from her perspective after reading the first book from her sister, Colleen’s perspective. I love the entire O’Dowd’s family, especially their grandmother, Nanny Fee. Nanny is still a spitfire at her ripe old age of ninety-three. I’d consider Nanny to be the glue in the “A Match Made in Heaven” series. I felt her presence more in the first book and I look forward to hearing from her in book three. However, if she dies in book three then I’ll never read another Peggy Jaeger book again. I read to escape and feel happy not depressed.

The hero, Mac Frayne was not a typical hero which was refreshing. I felt he was more reserved in an Autistic Spectrum kind of way. Something about him was more introverted. It went beyond being hurt, angry and sullen. Yet, I found he was relatable and I felt he was a perfect match for Cathleen. They definitely had chemistry as they worked through their separate issues.

This novel was an entertaining read. I enjoyed the interaction between the cast of characters that live in the small town of Heaven, New Hampshire. There is that small town feeling where everyone knows everyone. It gives the reader a sense of familiarity which makes it easy to feel connected and part of the story.

Summed up, this is a quality written book that took me on a journey and created a blender of emotions with in me. I highly encourage this book to go on everyone “to read” list.

This book is the embodiment of what I look for in a romance book. It has all the feel-good components I hope to experience when reading a love story. I’m an emotional person and enjoy connecting with my characters on a personal level. The writing techniques in It’s a Trust Thing really brought the story to life. This isn’t my first Peggy Jaeger novel and it will definitely not be my last.

I didn’t get a chance to read the first book in the DotComGirls series before I discovered It’s a Trust Thing, so I’m secure in saying that It’s a Trust Thing can be read as a standalone. I have yet to be disappointed in a Peggy Jaeger novel and I’m pleased to share that this story, like the others, more than satisfied me.

This particular book was a great deal of fun to read. My attention was captured from the beginning and carried onto the end. I lost count how many times I laughed. I really want to share how surprised I was with the unexpected plot twist near the end of the book.

I often talk about book boyfriends but rarely talk about having favorite heroines. Nell Newbery makes my list of favorite heroines. She was a kindred klutz like me. She was also a heartwarming character as I enjoyed reading about her overcoming her trust issues. Nell’s character was a role model for following your dreams despite adversity.

Charlie Churchill doesn’t win the book boyfriend award but he gets an honorary mention. I really loved him, and even though I didn’t get much of his inner thoughts and feelings, I found it wasn’t necessary because actions speak louder than words. Charlie clearly demonstrated his love and passion for Nell.

Together, Charlie and Nell made a compelling romance. They were an inspiring couple as they opened their hearts up to each other.

I don’t have any qualms about recommending this book.

I actually loved book two more than book one. I’m definitely hoping there is a book three on the way. I want more in this time era. This series is the first time I’ve ever read any romance novel written in the roaring twenties and I love it. Talk about refreshing!

The hero, Walter and the heroine, Shirley left me feeling in love, full of hope and inspired to follow my dreams. I loved the interaction between the two. From the moment they met I was smitten with them as a couple. They were heartwarming, comical and sexy.

In fact, all the characters are relatable and easy to bond with. This is what makes the Brides of the Roaring Twenties series so wonderful. It gave me a sense of friendship with in the community. In a world with corruption there are still a few good people.

From beginning to end I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. This was an ooh la la book for me. That translates to I would read this book a second time. I definite recommendation. This is a tangent but I’ve never been to a book signing but if I ever did it would be to a Lauri Robinson book signing. This was my eight book by her and it might be my favorite one so far. It’s definitely going on my keepers shelf.

A book written by Lauri Robinson is pretty much a guarantee for me that I am going to have an enjoyable read. I’m pleased to share that Baby on His Hollywood Doorstep wasn’t a disappointment. In fact, I’m excited that it is book one in the series Brides of the Roaring Twenties. I don’t know why I count but this happens to be my seventh Lauri Robinson book.

Baby on His Hollywood Doorstep was an excellent introduction to a new series. I considered the plot and setting to be rather unique and it therefore piqued my interest to want to read the next one.

Another reason I enjoyed this is because of the cast of characters. I developed a kinship with each one. Helen, the heroine, was born into a life that she had no choice in the matter. As life typically goes, there are often turns of events that we have no control over. We all have the choice to let it define us or not. Helen struggled with the cards life dealt her. It was heartwarming to read how she chose to rise above it. It happens, of course, with the help of others, mainly the hero, Jack, and as expected Jack had his life struggles too, but together they became a united force.

I truly loved this book and have no qualms recommending it. However, I have one bone to pick. Without giving any spoilers, I felt that there is a scene omitted. If so, it’s one I would have preferred to have been in on because Helen has a rather significant meeting/conversation with a significant person and I was not privy to it and I felt I should have been. I learned of it and heard what was said after the fact because she told Jack. Prior to this meeting there was a previous confrontation with this particular person where things were said that were pivotal to the plot. There was an agreement and, well … I can’t say anymore other than I would have liked to have heard her and this particular person have this second conversation. Perhaps it was done on purpose so that I would feel the same anger as Jack did when he learned what Helen had done behind his back. He forgave her faster than I did. Perhaps if I was in on the conversation then I would have been more forgiving. I kind of understand her reasoning but I didn’t like feeling left out. That’s the only major hiccup I experienced while reading this story.

I was entranced from beginning to end and was genuinely entertained. I’m thrilled that I already have the next book sitting next to me waiting to be read. I encourage others to join me in experiencing this new reading adventure, starting with Baby on His Hollywood Doorstep. The future for this series looks promising.

This is my one hundred and fifty fourth review. Yet, I’m sitting here intimidated to write my thoughts and feelings about The Turkish Affair. Why is that? Have you read the author’s biography or read any of her interviews? I typically don’t get awestruck but this is my third J. Arlene Culiner novel and I’m dumbstruck. She is a marvel. A cut above the rest. A class act. Hopefully you get my point that she’s a brilliant writer and has led an admirable life. She doesn’t even own a TV according to one interview I read. I can’t imagine.

Above all else, though, I have to say… go buy the book! To quote NIKE “Just do it”. There isn’t a book of the past 153 that I’ve read that compares to the quality and quantity of research presented in a realistic and entertaining manner that I found in The Turkish Affair. The details provided are eloquently implemented with such polish that one can’t help but feel like they are present with the characters. With that said I don’t have a desire to go on a Turkish tour. I love my modern-day comforts too much.

In regards to the characters, they are splendid. I had to read slowly and pay attention to follow the suspense/mystery. I was riveted to my seat from beginning to end, trying to guess who was stealing the artifacts because I was suspicious of everyone. The best thing – I was surprised at the end. I didn’t find the plot predictable at all because I was too busy trying to figure out why certain characters were hostile to others and who could be trusted.

The romance between Renaud and Anne was complicated by outside forces but they couldn’t resist each other. There are many plot threads woven in synchrony between who is corrupt, who is telling the truth and the desire for Renaud and Anne to be together. I was thoroughly engaged in trying to comprehend and anticipate what would happen next.

On a side note, I woke up and declared this day was going to be a “do nothing” day so that I could sit on the couch and read. My husband woke up and declared that this would be the day we’d go mattress shopping because he was not going to sleep another night on our deplorable mattress. I was rather annoyed. Thankfully the matter was settled rather quickly and I was back on the couch in a matter of a couple of hours. I spent the entire time mattress shopping reviewing in my head what I had read so far. It’s that kind of book, nearly impossible to put down and impossible to get out of my head.

Now that I’ve finished reading it, I’m still thinking about certain scenes. I’m very particular in my requirements that an author ties up those loose threads, so accepting it as written is a rare event. I don’t think it would have been realistic for the author to wrap up the ending with a neat and tidy bow. Not when the story takes place in another country where the guilty would need to be extradited and especially when the author wants to keep the story genuine and authentic. Without giving any spoilers, I can what really matters most – Renaud and Anne did receive their happily ever after.

In conclusion, I will repeat myself. Go buy the book!.

It’s no secret that I enjoy to read books written by Anna J Stewart and I’m pleased to share that this book is no exception. I wish I could say that I’ve read every book in the Butterfly Harbor Stories series but I can only claim to have read book five and then this book, which is book seven. This book can be read as a standalone.

This was a relaxing read at the end of a hard day’s work. A sweet escape to a heartwarming romance, I found Frankie, the heroine, to be the glue that held the cast of characters together. She was the epitome of the girl next door that everyone loved. The town of Butterfly Harbor is a tight knit community with a variety of well-developed characters that are easily relatable. I felt like I was part of the community. I only wish it really did exist.

The hero, Roman, was the newcomer in town that we all had to learn to accept and love. Not that difficult of a task if I say so myself. Together Roman and Frankie made for a fun and entertaining read. I have a soft spot for books that make me laugh, have a happily ever after, and leave me with a book glow. This book does all that and more.

My interest was captured from beginning to end and I really didn’t want to story to end. Fortunately, I can go back and read some of the books I’ve missed to complete the series. If you haven’t read an Anna J. Stewart book yet, I highly recommend you give her a try. There is no better time than now to start and no better book than to start with than The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish.
