This is my first read by Erika Reed and I’m looking for more of her books. This is a short read, but it’s packed with heat. Ms Reed has penned an interesting take on the Goldilocks story. It didn’t take me long to read this book, but I assure you, I’ll be rereading.

Goldie works for Travis. It’s a great set-up, although not all that original. Doesn’t matter. The chemistry between this woman with some body issues and this hunk of a man is off the charts. They sizzle. I couldn’t get enough of them together.

I do realize this book was part of an anthology, so that’s probably why it’s so short. I’m not complaining. I get the length limits, but on the other hand, I wish the story was a little longer because I wanted to know more about these characters. Grin. They were that fun.

If you want something hot, short and just right for lunch hour reading, then Goldie might be the one for you.

Shattered Vows is yet another fantastic book from Sam Crescent. I really enjoyed this one.

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I love the Denton Family series and the legacy that makes it so interesting. Abel had to charm Harper and she didn’t make it so easy on him either. I especially loved their first meeting. Women were easy to get for Abel and suddenly he met that special woman and she wasn’t all that impressed with his moves. It made him keep a big secret from her and I kept waiting for that to blow up in his face. This book was fun to read and had lots of hot steamy sex and some suspense. Mostly it’s a wonderfully written romance that I truly enjoyed reading.

This book was excellent! Sam Crescent definitely left me craving the next book in this series.

For Emma, coming face to face with her secret longings is mind-blowing. It’s one thing to fantasize about your best friend, but dare she take that leap into the unknown? Will it not ruin their friendship, and is—what would undoubtedly be awesome—sex worth risking that?

While Josh shares her fears, she is all he’s ever wanted in a woman, and he’s determined to show her that they can have it all. This woman is his to mark, cherish, and love forever, and he’ll prove it to her, one spank at a time.

Emma can’t help having erotic dreams about her best friend, Josh. She knows it’s futile, but she desperately wants to know what he gets up to when he stays out till 4am in the morning. One morning, Emma catches Josh masturbating and she just has to watch, enthralled. Now Josh knows that Emma is as attracted to him as he is to her, all bets are off.

This is a super hot, sexy “friends become lovers” style of story. Even though the sex starts quickly I enjoyed how the author showed that Emma and Josh had been friends forever and already had a good basis for their relationship to deepen and become far more intimate. I found it interesting and a little disappointing that while Josh definitely acted outwardly like a dominant, he had a lot of internal self-doubt. I could certainly appreciate his worrying that by changing his friendship with Emma to a sexual relationship might change things between them, it just felt odd to me how he could act all kinky and dominating eternally, but have serious self-doubts internally. The two sides of his personality just didn’t gel very well with me and I frequently found myself worrying if one or the other side of him was an act and not very real. This distracted me a fair bit from the fun and sexiness of the story and left me feeling a bit disappointed.

I liked the build-up between Emma and Josh. I felt the author did a good job with their chemistry, I could clearly believe and feel the sexual tension between them both, having been friends for so long and lusted after each other. While I felt the believability of the kink to be a little rocky, I did think it added quite a bit of zing between Emma and Josh’s sex and added intensity to the new aspects of their relationship. While there is definitely some kink I didn’t feel any of it was written in an offensive manner, nor was it too envelope-pushing in my opinion. And despite some initial nerves on both Josh and Emma’s behalf, everything was completely consensual and written in a sexy manner.

A fun, slightly kinky short story. I found this to be a good, quick read and enjoyed it.

Dante had been serving his country faithfully as one of the elite SEALs when he got word of his baby sister’s death. To say he had been devastated would have been an understatement. He was taken out of commission, away from the only job he ever knew, to take care of the niece he only saw when he was on leave. He toyed with the idea of allowing them to put her with a foster family—for about two minutes.

Noelle Henry spat out form letters for children who wrote to Santa Claus each holiday season. When she read a letter written in crayon from a six-year-old named Molly Davidson she knew that she couldn’t simply send the child the standard letter, especially since she had known the child’s late mother. Instead, Noelle wrote a personalized letter for the little girl, something that would likely get her fired. She never anticipated what would develop between her and Molly’s new guardian, Dante Davidson.

Noelle loved her job reading letters children had sent to Santa and sending back customized letters to the kids. When she gets a letter from Molly – a little girl whom Noelle knows – her heart breaks. Molly’s parents had died and now her Uncle Dante took care of her. Noelle knew Dante was way out of her league, but that didn’t stop her from lusting over him. Determined to make this Christmas special for Molly and Dante, Noelle decides to play Secret Santa.

Check your brain at the door, settle down with a lovely spiked drink and enjoy this fun Christmas story. In some respects this reminded me of a very spicy, slightly naughty Harlequin Christmas book. A dedicated SEAL who comes home to look after his orphaned niece and bumps into the girl-next-door who he’s been crushing on. This story is slightly clichéd, but I still really enjoyed it, even if the storyline is a little tried-and-true. I chuckled a fair bit at how Noelle was trying to be secretive and devious – giving Molly the Christmas present she dearly wanted – and while Noelle managed it, she also got to snag the man she’d been crushing on since school.

Understandably, most of the plot revolves around Dante learning to take care of Molly and the start of Dante and Noelle’s relationship. While part of me wished the plot had been a little more fresh – or that the conflict and “twist” near the end had been at least a little believable – this had the definite feel of a comfort read to me. I was also a little disappointed that the editing wasn’t tighter. I found there were quite a few repeated words/echoes throughout the story and this jarred me out of enjoying the story a number of times. Having said that – I really enjoyed both Dante and Noelle’s characters and I liked their friendly, flirty banter. I really enjoyed how they didn’t just jump straight into bed, but talked and got to know each other a bit first.

Readers looking for a fun, “solider becomes an instant dad” type Christmas stories should give this a try. There is some mildly kinky sex – though it’s all kept fairly light – and plenty of chemistry between Noelle and Dante which should keep erotic readers satisfied and entertained. I enjoyed Molly, the little girl really adding to the story and not just being a part of the plot and left overlooked. Overall I found this to be a fun, sexy story and an enjoyable read. So leave reality and logic behind, have a drink and relax with this quick, spicy short story.

The plot revolves around what happened to Ava because of her stepfather and the actions preceding the event. This was the main suspense that irritated me until the end. What happened to her was only revealed until the end. I am not a fan of drawn out suspense.

That being said the book then tells about Ava and her best friend getting into a competition named Power Games to win a lot of money. Power Game involves BDSM and having the scenes publicized live into the audience. What happened afterwards was well worth the bit of suspense that came.

When she gets paired up with Roman… the chemistry between them… **sigh**

I truly enjoyed the relationship, or lack thereof, between them at the start and watching the progression from there onward. This is an very erotic read, of course.  And, I need to say that this book is very intense for a reader who is not that into BDSM or likes little of it in their stories.

But the writing with that progression from Ava and Roman being nothing to each other to being everything was truly amazing.

Gwen Montcliff practically never hears the word “no”. A spoiled, rich little daddy’s girl, to outward appearances she lives a perfect life. But Gwen was far from stupid, and after a huge fight with her father, she knew her time as a free woman was coming to an end. All too soon daddy dearest was going to marry her off to one of his rich business friends and Gwen didn’t see an easy way out of it. When Lance rode up on his motorcycle Gwen immediately felt the chemistry and attraction with him. Could he be her ticket to a happier life?

I found this an interesting short story. While I initially felt very little connection (or sympathy) with Gwen I was curious to see where the author would lead with this “unhappy rich girl meets biker mechanic” style of story. While I enjoyed the relationship-building aspect of the story, I struggled a bit with the unrealistic nature of the sex between Gwen and Lance.

Gwen was a virgin so her immediate and extremely strong sexual reaction to Lance felt a little surprising to me. Her agreeing to expose herself and be sexually intimate with a man she’d literally met minutes ago didn’t strike me as realistic at all. I think a lot of this was due to the fact the author didn’t give me a real reason as to WHY she was so enraptured with him. Why did this inexperienced woman throw all logic and caution aside (having unprotected sex with him) and offer herself to this man who picked her up on the side of the road? At the initial, early stage of their sexual intimacy I didn’t feel any connection between them. There was no reason for her to trust him, no knowledge that he wouldn’t rape or hurt her – she had no idea who or what he was and she didn’t even question him or his reasons.

Having said this, the sex itself was hot and explicit – excellent for an erotic romance, I just missed the emotional connection between them and this really effected my enjoyment of the story. I found Lance to be a protective bad boy with a filthy mouth and a stud in bed. About half way through the story I really started to enjoy how the plot grew more intricate. With a few plot twists and character surprises my enjoyment and appreciation of the author’s story rose considerably. Even though this is the first book I’ve read by this author I could guess a few parts of the plot, but some of the intricacies took me delightfully by surprise and I really enjoyed the extra layers and complexities this gave the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the second half of this book.

Lance and Gwen’s relationship progressed at an extremely fast pace – married within a day of meeting each other – so readers who appreciate a bit of a slower ride and the characters connecting fully before they progress might not be as satisfied with this story. Those who like a rough-and-tumble courtship and are happy to just disconnect their brain could find this a fun and interesting read.

I loved everything about this book !

I don’t usually like the new adult genre books or stand alone stories. However, I took a chance on this one since Sam Crescent is an author who always delivers great stories with a real substance to them. I’m so glad that I didn’t pass this one up because it was a truly beautiful story. I was hanging on every word.

Logan and Blake were so perfect together. The troubled couple genuinely connected and stuck together no matter what happened. It was so sweet the way Logan took care of Blake. He had his own demons too, but he was determined to keep anyone from hurting Blake. At first he simply wanted to be her friend but they slowly realized how much they cared about each other. This was one more way that the story was unique to this author. Sam Crescent is known for her steamy sex scenes but this book was decidedly more sweet and just as romantic and touching. I was already cheering for Logan to win the girl but he won my heart when he beat down Blake’s tormentors. I think my favorite part was how Blake told her parents off for their neglect. In a nutshell, this was Logan and Blake against everyone and that was all that they needed to be happy. Sam Crescent put a lot of feelings into this short story. Her writing was so lovely that the story simply flew by and then there was a beautiful epilogue that showed such a happy ending for this special couple. I really enjoyed every page.

I loved this story and look forward to the next Sam Crescent book.

This story sizzled. I won’t lie. There were parts of this short story that had me squirming in my seat. The piano… I’ll never look at a baby grand ever again the same way.

There wasn’t much meat to this short story. The author got right to the point right away. I had to keep reading because I had to know how it would end. Of course it didn’t take long, but still. I had to know.

The premise of the story was hot. Sexy military man and the geeky pianist. Good combination. But there were a few quibbles. While this was erotica, some of the terminology ripped me right out of the story. I wanted to buy in, but I couldn’t… not throughout the book. I had a hard time picturing the hero and heroine together because of the nearly foot difference in their height. I had to reread to figure out some of the choreography. One example: the pianist considers herself short, but not small and wonders how the hero can pick her up, yet he tosses her around. I had a hard time picturing what was going on. The other big quibble was how fast the two characters got together. Some readers might not have a problem with the briskness with which they climbed onto the piano. Others might.

That said, the short story has lots of promise. With a little more editing for content and maybe lengthening the story out a bit more, it could really shine.

But I had a few quibbles. First, the tense of the book switched a few times which ripped me out of plot. I had to reread more than a few times. Then there was the way Naomi conducted herself. I’m no prude, but she seemed to waiver a lot. With a bit more editing, this could be a great little story. I realize this is part of a series and is probably best read in order.
