Male/male stories are quickly becoming my favorite subgenre of romance because of stories like this one. Ms. Urban and Ms. Silver really drew me into the story and made me feel for both men. Although I wasn’t totally sure at times where the story was set, it didn’t matter. Matt and Dom were consuming characters. And the passion burning between them was so intense I had to check my screen to make sure it was still intact.

Matt’s confusion about his sexuality is one that many people can identify with. Though there were moments when this story seemed like a string of love scenes, there was a powerful plot that did keep me entertained and into the story.

There are so many admirable facets to this plot I don’t know where to begin. The fact that Clay, Alix’s brother, was part of the problem made the plot distinct. Not only did Alix have to deal with the emotions from falling in love with Dev, but also the emotions of realizing her brother may not have been worthy of the pedestal she’d put him on since they where children. The twists and turns around each corner had me on the edge of my seat in almost every chapter. It was evident that this author knew what she was doing in writing this story.

Only two questions remained in my mind after finishing this expertly contrived story. Why had I never heard about Lynne Connolly’s works? And where could I get more of the Department 57 stories?

Richard has one of my favorite lines in the story. When Joseph, one of Richard’s business associates, asked Richard if he gets jealous seeing Luke and Matthew together, Richard says “The attraction and affection you see between them—it isn’t just about them. Wrapped up in that is me—their feelings for me.” I had tears rolling down my face reading that and Luke and Matthew feel the same when they see the other two together.

The stand against racism made me want to shout for joy!

Double Dare is a story about acceptance and love without restraint while coming to terms with being social outcasts. In the end they stand up for themselves and come out of the closet about their relationships, proud to be unique and fight racism as well as their own personal fears. This trio will make you want to be a part of them too. It was a very inspiring story and one I’d recommend as a great read. This story gets 4.5 Cherries.

Also I feel like he handled high stress situations even better than Logan seemed to. This in no way means that I disliked Logan, I just found it interesting. The one thing I found unique about this plot was that the wolves had an ongoing battle/war with the Bears. This conflict also contributed to numerous other problems within the separate groups so it definitely added more depth to the storyline.

The relationship did leave me with a few questions. Like why Logan seemed to be so harsh toward Andrew and Kimberlyn at certain moments when they where only doing what they felt was right. I also did not understand the way Andrew and Logan interacted in the bedroom. I mean Logan was the extreme alpha in public but Andrew came off a little more domineering in private.

This story was definitely spicy. I mean it had every type of sexual partner match up you can think of m/m, f/f, and f/m/m/m … it really had it all. For someone like me who can really go for about anything sexually in stories, it made it a very interesting read. This is only the first installment of a series so it will definitely be interesting to see what happens next.

I loved that we were able to spend time, not only with David and Bailey, but the heroes from the two previous books. These other characters are as richly detailed as our two main lovers. Catching up with Hugh, Kael, George and Mordred was fun, and watching how they interacted to bring David and Bailey together was fantastic. Do David and Bailey have a well deserved happy ever after? You have to read Fighting Dragons for the answer. But I recommend this to anyone who believes true love is real, no matter who is involved.

Emotion aside, this is a story that sizzles and that is what engages a majority of the interest and maintains it throughout.

The writing is hot, the pace is fast, and once you start reading you’ll finish before you’re ready to. This is a story that someone who is short on time can enjoy, especially if they want a bit of emotion and a few twists and turns that tug on your heart along the way.
