A simple text leads to a case of mistaken communication and before long Riley Anderson finds herself tied to her bed and being driven to distraction. Beckett Manning, host of Room Makeovers, knows how to tease and torture every inch of her skin. He also knows his way around an orgasm, which keeps Riley wanting more. And more. And more.

Beckett is ready to give Riley more than a remodeled kitchen. He’s about to bring her to the edge of ecstasy and back. Whether it’s hot sex in the bathtub or Riley hog-tied to the bed, he’s determined to show this brazen beauty how desirable she really is.

Out with the old and in with the new was Riley’s unspoken motto as she took fate into her hands and decided to make a change. Little did she know that fate had different ideas for her!

Riley is sick of having her ex keeping her from moving forward in life. So she decides to take matters into her own hands, literally. After demolishing her kitchen which was a project on the ‘plan to do but never going to do’ list with her ex, she heads to the local home improvement store. Riley found a whole lot more then just new cabinets and countertops!

Beckett is the host of a popular reality show where he finds unsuspecting homeowners and helps them with room remodels. As soon as his eyes zero in on the fiery head of Riley, its lust at first sight. He hopes to himself she’s in need of him, and not just his TV show. When they finally met, the sparks fly! After accepting Beckett’s help, they begin a path that not only fixes Riley’s kitchen, but her tattered pride as well.

I thought the plot was fun for this book, and overall its a sexy story. But there were some things that were just a little off. One was character development for Beckett, yes he’s a good guy and a hunky TV host. But other than learning he likes some kink with his sex, we don’t know anything else about him. And his friend/co-worker Patrick didn’t seem to fit with his constant nagging.

However, Riley was a refreshing take on a strong woman. Despite her misgivings about her previous sex life, she went full court press and was honest and open with Beckett. My favorite part of the book is the text messages, which I won’t ruin. The first one had me almost spitting my drink out. And Amber Skyze can really write some sex scenes, don’t worry there are plenty here!

I noted that this has BDSM, but I will say it’s very light but there are a couple scenes that put it over in that grey area so I thought it would be a safe bet to mention that. Overall its a sexy read, and one to read with a tall glass of ice water!

Sorcerer Fabrice Germain lost his Talent when he was raped, but he still has his job. Relocating to London seems like the answer, and then he meets Gemma, who works for his rival. She’s a vampire. That’s two reasons to avoid her, but Fabrice and Gemma still end up scorching the sheets one Saturday night.

Then the world goes to hell. Fabrice ends a weekend of passion and tragedy as a converted Talent – a vampire now, like Gemma. One who has sworn to avenge two murders, and is back as an agent with Department 57. After that, he’s happy to die.

Except there’s Gemma. Fabrice really wants Gemma.

Gemma doesn’t want Fabrice to surrender to the blood phobia that threatens to take his life. She wants him for longer than a night–in fact she thinks she might never get enough of him. When they’ve caught the murderers, what is there to stop him starving to death? Only her.

A sorcerer turned human, and a vampire meet in the most inconvenient manner, yet that still does not stop the sparks from flying.

Fabrice is trying to find his way through life now that he’s lost his powers. One bonus is now that his virginity has been taken from him, he can enjoy all the sex he wants. I’ve been following this series for a while and I eagerly anticipated Fabrice’s story. Something about the guarded sorcerer made me think there was so much more to him than an icy exterior. Once the ice was chipped away I got to see a caring, lost man, who my heart just went out to. I enjoyed watching him try to understand and accept what he has become, as well as deal with the newly formed relationship between him and Gemma.

The romantic development between Gemma and Fabrice was spectacular. From beginning to end I got to watch these characters not only grow their relationship, but help to heal one another. While Fabrice’s scars were deeper than Gemma’s I could see how her character had also been bruised by her past. In the end, I truly believed that without one another neither character would have been happy, and isn’t that what “forever after” is all about?

There’s one scene that needs mentioning, and is the reason I have labeled this a forced seduction. There is an F/F scene where a woman is making advances at Gemma. It’s clear Gemma isn’t interested in this female, but the woman continues to try and seduce Gemma. While no clothes are removed, the woman is aggressive in going after what she wants so I felt it warranted a forced seduction tag as well as mentioning. I will say that this scene does not take away from the plot or storyline in any way, but instead enhances the plot line.

Author Lynne Connolly has always been one of my favorites because of her ability to create dynamic plots with amazing conflicts. This story displayed her writing abilities perfectly. I could see how much she enjoyed writing this story all throughout the books. Scenes like the one I mentioned earlier with the female for example. As usual, I was at the edge of my seat hanging onto every word and anticipating what was going to happen next. The excellent writing ability and memorable characters proves this story deserves every one of its five stars.

Ashlei Preen had spent her entire childhood trying to fit in with the residents of Haven. A pretty tall order for someone deemed a regular human in a town of shifters. In spite of her minor “defect” she managed to hold her own. As an adult she applied that same tenacity to her medical practice. Lately her thoughts have been filled with the town’s newest resident who seems more eager to be away from her rather than share the same air space, but Ashlei’s used to having to fight for what she wants.

Done with the big city and the stream of crime that consumed his life as a Special Forces detective, Seth Riddick thinks Haven is just what he needs: a thriving shifter town where he can be true to himself and enjoy his frequent hunts without fear of being tranqed (that really pisses him off). Haven’s definitely a paradise for a lone wolf like him, but even paradise has its complications. For Seth that complication comes equipped with a stethoscope and enough determination to have him questioning his bachelor status.

Oh, she definitely wants him, but isn’t long before the lines become blurred of who’s chasing whom.

Ashlei Preen is the doctor in the town of Haven, and she and her family are lion shifters. Everyone except Ashlei, that is. Ashlei is a non shifting shifter which has been something she has had to live with her entire life. This is especially hard because the town of Haven is full of shifters of all kinds, and they look at her with pity. No shifter male will approach her because they feel that because of her non shifting problem she would not be able to handle a shifter male. Seth Riddick is the ultimate alpha male and he has his sights set on Ashlei. At first he thought she was human but when she told him that she couldn’t shift his interest in her just increased. Her sister Reigna was against her growing attraction and referred to Seth as a fleabag. Her mother continually tries to set her up with guys, the latest being Thad, who is more interested in her brother Will than her. She tries hard to keep her attraction quiet but fails miserably because Seth is simply gorgeous.

Nia Foxx writes stories that will keep you interested and characters that will reach out from the pages of her book, grab you by the hand, and pull you right in. Every character in this story had a purpose and contributed towards story.

Ashlei’s sister Reigna was funny, calling Seth a wolf in sheriff’s clothing, and drawing pictures of what Ashlei’s and Seth’s children would look like, saying that they were faces only a mother could love. This story was so enjoyable, the heat between the main characters radiated from the pages. However, there are a few loose ends left hanging such as who is kidnapping girls and burying their clothes that were left unresolved. These I’m sure will be answered in future books. Overall, Haven: Rules of Mating is an excellent read one that I’m sure will appeal to everyone.

Ten months ago, Spade was won in yet another high-stakes poker game. But Ace Donovan was different from his previous masters—kind, generous, possessed of a playfulness that only Spade can see. His new master was also broken, slowly crumbling under the pressures of undeserved guilt and pain. As Senai—a genetically engineered servant—Spade had the ability to sweep the anguish from his soul, to fulfill his every desire, and to set Ace’s spirit free.

He hadn’t known doing these things would grant him the human’s love, or create an answering emotion within him.

There’s no greater pleasure than Ace in his arms, and Spade will hold on for as long as he’s wanted. Even when the orders given to him hurt, even when they make him lonely, even when it becomes clear that his master no longer needs a servant. He’s Senai. What he has now should be enough. Yet it’s not. He wants more.

One good hand brought them together. Could one good year entwine their souls?

Spade and Ace are back as Spade has to convince Ace that they truly belong together, against all odds. Ace and Spade have been together for a very blissful year so far. Happily in love and crazy in lust, the two seem to have a rock solid relationship, so much so they’re planning to get married. They truly think nothing can come between them. Their bond is tested, though, when Spade’s new friend starts to challenge their bond. It’ll take a lot of soul searching and one hell of a bet for them to finally know if they belong together.

One Good Year picks up a year later after the first book in the series began. I’d recommending reading the first book, One Good Hand, first to fully appreciate and understand the dynamics between the main characters. As an alternative to the costly branded drugs you can buy cheap generic drugs that they should use the same active constituent discount viagra india used by the brand names like Kamagra, Silagra, Zenegra, Forzest, Kamagra oral jelly, and similar other names. This is essential for increasing the success rate of super viagra is reportedly higher than viagra because the dosage for every individual varies depending on its age, weight and health conditions. You can read this as a stand alone but there are definitely details and comments that will lack context or be missing entirely. In the sequel Ace and Spade are happily, deeply in love and proceed to have a lot of sex. This isn’t bad but there are some hints of trouble of in paradise which lead to Spade meeting a new friend, another genetically engineered alien like himself. Now this new character, introduced late in the book, is responsible for casting doubt and problems in the relationship.

On the one hand it’s quite nice to see Ace and Spade again and this time Spade is the narrator so I thought we’d understand more from his perspective. We do, in a way, but he remains pretty remote and one dimensional. He’s in love with Ace, will do whatever it takes to make Ace happy, and wants to stay with Ace. That is the sole depth to Spade. Ace on the other hand is the same charming, witty, and charismatic man as he was in the first book but since the story is told from Spade’s POV, Ace feels remote and not present in the significant way. I found I truly missed Ace’s narration in the face of Spade’s rather robotic and unemotional event telling.

Another issue is that the story feels entirely told with manipulated drama. It’s all a good idea and creates some definite tension and drama, especially in light of Senai’s powers, but it also feels too late in the story to really mean much. We never really understand this newcomer’s motivations or emotions and the end effect is showing that yes, Ace and Spade are incredibly in love. This bit of information is something we’re told at the very beginning and it’s disappointing something new or interesting doesn’t develop in their relationship as a result. It’s still sweet and lovely but mostly empty.

While One Good Year is a decent sequel, it pales in comparison to the original. It doesn’t have the same charm and whimsy, although the clean writing and easy reading is still there. This will be best for fans of the series. The author is a good writer with some clever ideas so I’d be interested to see what is done next.

Four years ago, Peter Fontaine made a name for himself as Bellingham, Washington’s premiere investigative reporter. Since then he’s got an award, a cat and good-looking artist to come home to every night.

Nick Olson, Peter’s long-suffering lover has a lot of reasons for wanting Peter to stop investigating the many and varied crimes committed in the City of Subdued Excitement. Peter’s nasty habit of getting held at gunpoint by lunatics has Nick wondering if any story is worth losing the man he’s decided to “everything-but-marry.”

But when a famous ceramic artist drops dead at the Bellingham Farmer’s Market, Nick agrees to help Peter dig deep to unearth the secret rivalries and dirty deeds done at Green Goddess Farms. And then they’re going to have another long talk about these bad habits of Peter’s.

A man dies tragically right in front of Peter so of course he has to investigate it, right? Peter can’t help his reporter’s curiosity. He also thinks everyone else is crazy if they don’t have the same insatiable need to figure out secrets. This time he even has a cop asking him to poke around the close knit organic market atmosphere, so Peter’s questions are practically sanctioned by law. Combined with a madcap best friend and long suffering boyfriend, Peter’s latest investigation is likely to almost get him killed, but that’s the fun of it.

One Man’s Treasure is the fourth book in the Bellingham Mystery series by Ms. Kimberling. It’s easily a stand alone, though, for those just picking up the series. This time Peter is poking into the death of Nick’s artist friend. Peter is as irrepressible and charming as always. He’s somewhat obnoxious if you actually stop and think about all the mistakes and problems he causes on a near daily basis, but instead his wit and charm win you over. His habit of rewriting mundane details into scary thriller book language is only one of his many fun quirks.

The murder itself is well developed. There are more than enough hints to figure out the culprit ahead of time, and to know exactly how Peter will almost die, but the clean writing and descriptive language make you want to ride along anyway. Peter’s relationship to Nick is examined and moves ahead once more, showing that even a happy couple with a very solid relationship can have issues that need to be examined and dealt with. Nick is a bit too patient and long suffering – he comes across as a near saint putting up with all of Peter’s antics. Peter’s best friend as well is more of a caricature than a fully three dimensional character but she adds humor and purpose to some of Peter’s ridiculousness so she’s definitely a welcome addition to scenes.

Overall this is a fun and entertaining new addition to the series. One that can be picked up by anyone and I’d recommend it for both fans and newcomers. The crisp writing and evocative imagery are easily worth the cost and time with this one.

Loyalty to her lord compels the Otu woman-warrior Sora to risk her life trying to find her tribe’s hated enemy, the Waban. Her mission: to kill their leader. Instead, she becomes the prisoner of the enemy’s powerful war-leader, Hakan. His mission: to turn the bound woman at his feet into a sex-hungry creature worthy of the powerful man who rules the Waban. But Sora is nothing like the submissive slave-whores he’s accustomed to. Instead, he finds himself pitted against a courageous, if helpless, adversary. No matter how completely he controls her body, the warrior spirit that is part of her heart and soul remains.

As days and nights flow together during the long trek back to Hakan’s village, hatred gives way to a wild attraction neither wants but they can’t fight. Long-held secrets become confidences whispered during frenzied sex. But deeply ingrained loyalty to their leaders compels them to continue to see the other as the enemy until treachery and deceit awaiting them at journey’s end threatens their survival. Will it bring them together or rip them apart?

Beautiful setting, page-turning anticipation, and compelling, strong characters you can’t help but root for. Enemies has all the elements you need for a fantastic escape from day to day life!

I can’t tell you how much I love these characters. Sora, a female Otu Warrior, is strong, courageous, and determined. When she’s captured by a Waban war leader and sworn enemy, Hakan, she must endure his certain torture to avoid being broken and carry out her mission to get to the Waban Elder. While refusing to back down, she seemingly submits, yet never loses focus of her goal, to collect information about the Waban tribe and bring it back to the Otu.

Hakan, although fierce and threatening, is a wonderfully complex character. His inner turmoil – does he treat this captive as just another spoil of war, or give her the respect her warrior status commands – is gripping and enjoyable. From the moment they first meet in battle, Sora stabbing Hakan before Hakan renders Sora unconscious, you can feel the attraction, admiration and respect the two have for each other. They are perfect equals in a world where neither should have one.

I loved how protective Hakan was of his captive, although he knew she was very capable of taking care of herself. The undeniable pairing of these two was done gradually and with perfect intent, every step of their relationship drawing them closer together until there was no question the love they felt, despite their individual senses of duty and obligation to their respective tribes.

Ms. Harper is an expert in her setting. I know little of native culture, but was never lost in the perfect world she has created. The adversarial relationships, differences in language, and even day to day living were so wonderfully laid out that I was not only able to follow the story, I became lost in it. I felt a part of their world, and that takes a very talented writer.

The love scenes were sensual and erotic, but also served to further connect the hero and heroine. Through both points of view we are able to experience Hakan’s struggle with the “spell” this irresistible captive had over him as well as the Sora’s attempt to retain her distance from the man who claimed to own her. Their individual struggles were believable and served to bond them even further, since both understood the other in a way that few could.

The only piece of this wonderful story that was missing was their ultimate expression of love. They each thought it, but never spoke the words to each other. Ms. Harper has such a beautiful use of language for the natives, I was hoping to hear how they each chose to express themselves to the other. In the end, it was an assumption, but we didn’t get to witness the conversation taking place. I missed it, but even without the words, their dedication was unquestionable.

If you like a story that takes you to another time and place, and a love story that leaves you breathlessly rooting for the hero and the heroine both, THIS is definitely a title to pick up!

Six weeks ago, Shayla Morgan, geek extraordinaire, fled the tiny mountain town of Refuge, North Carolina as though the hounds of hell–or one horny werewolf–were on her tail. Now the time has come to return for her cousin’s wedding and face the piper in the form of one determined, red-haired wolf-shifter who believes she’s his mate.

After the hell of his childhood, Rory McFelan, alpha of the Sparrowhawks, determined never to mate or reproduce. That was before the Creator dropped one feisty, irritating human female with a scent his wolf wouldn’t let him ignore into his path right before a blue moon. In the few short days it took the blue moon to wane, Rory found himself mated with a pup on the way, and his mate gone.

Getting her back is the easy part. Keeping her is more difficult. He’ll have to fight demons–his and hers–his pack, her family, and an unknown enemy determined to destroy him, any way they can.

Any story that starts off with “She stood under the shower washing the musky scent of cum and sweat from her body.” can’t help but grab your attention.

This type of story will make you reach for a glass of wine, and settle into your comfy chair to read. True Mates: Claiming is the sixth book in the True Mates series. It revolves around Shayla Morgan, a human who has mated a wolf shifter, Rory McFelan, during the frenzy of a blue moon. Shayla runs away from Rory leaving the town of Refuge and the only reason she comes back is for her cousin Kiesha’s wedding. Hoping she can avoid running into Rory while she’s there, Shayla plans to come into town and leave before he even knows she was there.

The heat between them is palatable; you could feel it coming through the pages.

There is so much chemistry between these two characters I became completely engrossed in their story. This is a strong alpha male who mates with a strong alpha female and when these two come together there are fireworks.

The other characters in the book are from previous stories in the True Mates series. Every character in this book enhanced the story whether they were villain or hero. I loved how Shayla was expected to submit to her mate which she did but she did it on her own terms. She let him know that in some things she would submit but in others she was his equal. One of the best scenes in the book was when she shifted for the first time and her she wolf wanted her mate to prove he was worthy of her. She got him to completely lose control but also taught him that she was strong enough to be his alpha fem.

I hope Ms Wynn continues this series and that there’s another book in the works, because I would love to see a continuation of their story.

Aiden Cole can be anything men want—naughty schoolboy, palace slave, virgin twink, or slutty secretary. He’s a gifted actor with a gorgeous body who gives legendary head. Aiden could have his pick of any Top in the local leather bar, but is drawn to Scott Runge—a cruel, sexy Dom who pushes Aiden to his limits, allowing Aiden to experience the excitement and danger of the BDSM lifestyle to a degree he never has before. But when Scott goes too far, injuring Aiden, Aiden withdraws from the BDSM scene completely. Until he meets Keaton Hughes.

Keaton’s looking for something he can’t find in any dungeon: A domestic discipline relationship, in which he can provide his partner with guidance, support, and loving discipline. When Keaton takes Aiden in after Aiden’s traumatic encounter with Scott, he vows not to pursue any sort of relationship with the troubled sub. But as Aiden struggles to overcome the damage Scott has done and get his life back on track, Keaton’s rules might be just what he needs.

It took being completely dominated to break Aiden and it will take domination to put the pieces back together.

Aiden’s lover, Scott, is a real masochist who does everything and anything to break Aiden’s spirit. There were parts at the beginning of the story that showed this relationship and I found it bit hard to read. The author shows how Aiden went from a beautiful butterfly to one with his wings slowly torn away. While I understand why they did this, I almost wish some of it had been toned down a bit in the story.  It was difficult for me to read because of the graphic violence and demoralization of Aiden. This story is definitely not for the faint of heart; there’s some extreme violence, and forced sexual scenes that may leave some a little queasy.

While Aiden and Scott’s relationship is a good representation of everything wrong that can happen, Keaton and Aiden’s relationship definitely shows all that can be good in caring for another person. Keaton is willing to do anything to see Aiden whole again. Whether it be a friend, lover, or strong hand, he’s willing to be whoever Aiden needs. I have to say, I really loved Keaton’s character because he had a strong sense of who he was and what he wanted out of life. This allowed him to help Aiden realize what he also wanted from the world, even if it did not include Keaton.

The BDSM element in this story is one I was not used to with the two main characters. It was unique. After reading so many stories with a BDSM element I was impressed to actually find something new. It was refreshing and made me have a better appreciation for the author. I felt like they really understood what a true Dom/sub relationship is about.  It was portrayed perfectly between Aiden and Keaton. Keaton was not what I would consider a traditional Dom by means, but I could see how his style of dominance could really work, and it made me rethink my whole idea of what a Dom should be.

In the end, I was happy that I read this story, because I had a chance to see terrific personal and romantic development as well as a different spin on the traditional BSDM story.

On an island off the coast of Maine, Lucien Cabot monitors the dark clouds rolling across a bleak sky. Patience and planning have been Lucien’s two closest friends for years, and now Mother Nature has aligned to create the perfect storm he needs to exact his revenge.

Television producer Sophie Emerson can’t believe her luck when the mysterious owner of Raven Island offers her a story about the island and castle. She really can’t believe it. Still, if real, this offer could be the break her career needs. Although suspicious, Sophie agrees to meet Lucien at his home.

Gotcha. Lucien can taste victory — if he can resist the keen intelligence, beauty, and light in Sophie. Falling for his guest is the last thing Lucien can afford to do.

Trapped on Raven Island, Sophie is shocked by her powerful desire to know more about Ravenstoke’s clever, darkly attractive master. In secret, Sophie also searches for the truth behind her invitation to Lucien’s island.

A perfect storm of fierce attraction and unbending revenge soon rages behind the walls of Ravenstoke. In the aftermath, once the debris has cleared, will Sophie’s love for Lucien be enough to end his dark revenge and bring him back into the light?

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.

And what a game Lucien plays! He devotes his life to exacting revenge on those who wronged him. Typical right? But while he has this whole thing set up, like a chess game, he wasn’t expecting his partner to be quite the adversary she turns out to be. But Lucien is blinded by his revenge, unable to see what is actually right in front of him. Sophie.

Sophie is spunky, smart and turns out to be very sexy. Drawn into the game Lucien has set up starting with letting her into his castle on an island ( awesome right? I know! ) to let her work on a news story about the history of the castle. She is instantly drawn to the enigmatic man who she knows is toying with her yet can’t seem to make herself pull away from him. But under it all, she sees his pain and the grief he carries for his loss.

Lucien and Sophie were quite a pairing. They fed off each other and for every push and pull the other returned the favor. Whenever one thought they had the upper hand in their game, the other threw them off balance. It was an elegant dance of deception and sexuality. In one very poignant scene, which I won’t give away, Lucien is in a very dark place and no one but Sophie could have brought him the light he needed.

So much of this story is woven with Lucien’s plan that it’s hard not to give out spoilers. I was more than one hundred pages in before I realized what exactly was going on and the exact person around whom the revenge revolved. It kept me very intrigued and I was completely absorbed in book. Add in the additional back story of the man who built the castle on the island, and his family, I finished this in just a couple hours. By the way, did you happen to notice the other elements of this story above? Yeah, that was not at all what I was expecting.

My only complaint was a few times I scratched my head during some of the internal monologue. Sophie was someone who didn’t swear, yet during a sex scene she used very adult slang words. I felt that if she truly didn’t swear those words shouldn’t have been in her vocabulary. I think other terms could have easily been used to describe the scene. Leave the vulgarity to Lucien, who was quite fond of it.

All in all, a great story very captivating and heart wrenching. Ms Dane wrote a fascinating tale of one broken soul and the last person on earth he expected to fix it. So if you enjoy stories like that, this is for you.
