Truman Durant has two painful secrets. One keeps him in the closet and the other hangs inside his closet. Letting either out seems like the equivalent of suicide to him. He didn’t know just how badly he needed Stasi Manolis until he found himself in the pushy Greek’s sights. Would giving up his secrets and maybe falling in love really be so bad?

Sometimes it’s the help you need, not necessarily the help you want. Truman is trying to get through college with his head down and focus on his classes and athletics. He has nowhere else to live so he puts on the façade and lives in a very macho frat on campus. The last thing Truman thinks he wants is a stubborn, gorgeous, openly gay Greek that won’t leave him alone. Stasi knows a good man when he sees it and he sees beyond the image Truman puts up to the needy, alone man beneath. Determined to give him what he wants and needs, Stasi never gives up despite Truman’s many protests. But finally winning Truman isn’t enough.

Your Biggest Fan, is a fun start  to a new series by Welsh. I’m not sure if the focus will be this one couple as there are numerous secondary couples that could be featured in upcoming novels. In this particular book, Truman and Stasi are the main couple. They’re opposites but manage to find common ground. Truman is a closeted jock with a cross-dressing kink. After a bad incident in this past, Truman is literally terrified of anyone finding out about his secret. Stasi isn’t fazed though and handles all revelations pretty well and with ease. Together the two men are nicely described and feel genuine. They have the same flaws and fears of young men just out of high school.

The book tackles the concept of cross-dressing and its perception in a semi-successful way. On the one hand, it shows how some see this as a kink and a turn on while others find it even worse than just being gay. The various characters in the book tend to be overly supportive and fine with Truman’s secrets while there is one lone antagonist that is easily overcome. This is the part of the book where it lost me as it just seemed too fast and too easy. A week or two having sex on the sly with Stasi and suddenly the entire world is accepting of Truman and his cross-dressing. It makes for a nice resolution and a very happy ending for two deserving young men, but didn’t feel exactly realistic or authentic.

Your Biggest Fan is a nice introduction to a new world. The various other men introduced will likely star on their own or appear again and it makes a warm, enticing atmosphere. It may not be the most realistic or true to life but at the same time it’s the kind of Greek life that really should exist. Perhaps it’s a utopia, but I don’t think readers will mind visiting.

Danny Champion is ready to be a rockstar. He’s been preparing for this most of his life. He’ll finally make it with the Knights. He knows it.

It’s a horrible time to fall in love.

But then there’s Cash, Danny’s roommate. A quiet computer nerd without a clue about the music business, Cash can barely understand the world Danny’s so eager to live in. He certainly doesn’t want to share it.

Even though he knows he shouldn’t, Danny’s unable to resist introducing Cash to the wonders of sex. He didn’t expect to get addicted to Cash’s charms.

Love doesn’t always happen when it’s convenient. Danny is just starting the hard work it takes to make his band, Indigo Knights, a huge success. It involves long hours in the studio and a relentless touring schedule. Falling for his computer nerd roommate, Cash, is not on Danny’s busy agenda. That doesn’t seem to matter to Danny’s heart though. What starts as a fun fling soon turns serious for Danny but he has to convince a very reluctant Cash that Danny and his heart are for keeps.

Champion picks up a few months after the first Indigo Knights book, Squire, leaves off. If you’re new to the series or the author, don’t worry. It’s very easy to pick up the threads and enjoy this one on its own. Those familiar with this series and the previous wildly popular Heaven Sent series will definitely enjoy the few cameos from favorite characters. Mykles knows how to write great rockers and here the talents are on display yet again. Cash and Danny are fun together with obvious chemistry and the author definitely doesn’t skimp on the sex scenes, which are plentiful. The story is told from Danny’s perspective and it’s nice to get into the head of the lead singer. His characterization is nicely well rounded with good self awareness. Danny initially doesn’t want to fall in love. He wants to be the rock star that has a ton of groupies and live the life and only later fall in love and settle down. Don’t worry though because there is no infidelity but instead the emotional and mental obstacles Danny goes through are nice to watch and feel very genuine.

On the flip side Cash is much less well defined. He remains a shadowy figure and very one sided. He’s jaded and almost angry without any real depth or explanation for his feelings. The story would have benefited a lot from including some of Cash’s perspective. While I like this couple well enough, they feel flatter and less vibrant than other pairings in the rocker series from Mykles. The cameos from previous characters are wonderful though and I loved each and every one. I also like the set up for the other band members and look forward to reading their true love stories. This combined with the good writing and descriptive quality of the story elevate it from just another fluff story.

Overall, Champion is a good addition to the series and overall rocker books from this author. You can pick it up on its own and enjoy the clean writing, good wit, and hot sex. It makes for an easy and very fast read. Although I didn’t like this particular book as much as previous books, it’s still an easy one to recommend. I think fans will really enjoy it and I personally eagerly look forward to more in the series.

Zach Benesh is sure his prediction is right – the island colony of Zahara is about to sink into the ocean. Adam Gray isn’t as certain, but he’s happy to follow the intense, brilliant geophysicist into the mountains to escape the flooding. Though he’d be even happier without three hundred other people – and their pets – tagging along. He’d like to have Zach all to himself out there.

But Zach’s prediction is right and as disaster begins to unfold towards an unstoppable, inevitable conclusion, the two young scientists must become a team in the fight to save their people. They draw strength from their rapidly developing relationship, but the higher Zach and Adam climb, the more difficult the tests they face – as lovers and as men.

The world may be ending but that doesn’t mean Zach can’t find love and sex before it blows. Zach is a brilliant scientist who has discovered the planet they’re living on is about to end. Unfortunately he’s having a hard time convincing anyone of his findings; not to mention he just met super cute guy, Adam. Although the timing may be off, Zach takes a chance and convinces Adam to help him save as many people as possible.

Higher Ground is an amusing story that reads like a B grade end of the world movie. The main characters have a cute meet, barely get a date in together before they’re off trying to save the world and anyone they can find. Well technically the world is beyond saving but the people aren’t. Zach and Adam are a likeable couple. They come across as somewhat bland and typical, easy forgettable, but at the same time they’re harmless and fun to read. Both are stereotypical cut outs and there is no real angst to their pairing.

The drama comes from external sources of the planet blowing up. Unfortunately this is where I had the most problems with the story. It’s a decent enough concept, if a familiar one, but the story really struggles in the details. Supposedly this takes place on a distance terra-formed planet of the universe. Except there is almost no world building and not enough details that actually brings that premise to life. Instead, the story reads like a contemporary story with a few novel words and gadgets thrown in here and there. That’s not bad for the story itself, but it detracts heavily when the story is billed as science-fiction in space.

Overall, Higher Ground is an amusing read with a drama-free main couple and some familiar set ups. The various secondary characters are fun and tend to steal the show from the main couple and the author’s writing is very clean and smooth. Perhaps not a story I’d read again but enjoyable and easy to read.

In the era of Disco and bell bottoms, one neighborhood is keeping free love alive, one key at a time.

As a proponent for free love and women’s rights, Shayna is more than happy to attending her friend’s key party even though she has no desire to sample the wares herself. Her plan is to just be there for immoral support. Nothing more, nothing less, or at least that was her intention before she spotted the man she spent one unforgettable night with, her best friend’s brother, Embry.

They only had one night together, but to Embry it was the first of many to come. Despite the wall Shayna had erected between them, Embry has no intention of backing down. It had taken him a long time to get Shayna to see him as a man and not just Edith’s brother and he refused to allow her to put him back in the friend column now.

Despite the differences in their social status and ethnicity, he knows that they are perfect for each other. Now all he has to do is get the stubborn beauty to admit it.

Shayna Hingham is black and in love with her best friend Edith’s brother, Embry, who is white. Embry can’t think of anything better than to have Shayna in his arms, loving her for eternity. The problem is that they live in Maryland in 1978 and interracial dating is still looked upon with distaste. Shayna tries to keep her distance from Embry but every time she gets close to him or even thinks of him her body gets warm and all she can do is remember how he felt touching and loving her the last time they were together. Realizing that there are so many reasons for them not to be together, Shayna tries to make Embry understand that a relationship would only end in hurt.

Embry has been in love with Shayna for as long as he can remember. Their first night together was one that he wants to repeat over and over again. However, he has to convince Shayna that it’s a good idea for them to be together, and to not worry about what others say. He understands that there will be people, maybe some in their own family that will be against them being together, but Embry hopes that his love for her will be enough to sway her to his way of thinking. He is not giving up on her and he will do whatever he can to make her his.

Lena Matthews’ Key Party 2: Brown Sugar explored the world of interracial love in the 1970’s. It was hard for interracial couples to go public because of the hatred they would face which would put their love to the test. There was a part in the book where a waitress refused to serve them because of this, which helped to depict the attitude of that time. I found this story to be informative but enjoyable at the same time. Shayna and Embry were wonderful characters whose interaction or verbal sparring was funny and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who would want to take a glimpse at the world of interracial dating in 1978. Things have changed since then, although interracial dating is not completely accepted today, it’s not as frowned upon as it used to be. Key Party 2: Brown Sugar helped this reader spend an enjoyable afternoon getting to know Shayna and Embry and adding Lena Matthews to my list of talented authors.

Heavyweight UFC fighter, Romeo Wellings comes from the hard streets of New York where his family ties to the mafia cause him nothing but pain. His life takes a surprising detour when he crosses paths with the twin sister of his long-time enemy. After a steamy, one-night stand, he faces the fight of his life, but it’s not in the cage. The secret relationship that blooms between Romeo and his real life Juliet has him battling his family and a dark past rather than let her go.

The only lawyer in her hometown of Garnet, Jules Conner is also a volunteer Sheriff’s deputy and co-owner of a successful MMA training center. Strong and dependable, Jules is always there for those who need her. Until one forbidden night in Las Vegas with Romeo leaves her feeling so alive she can’t stop reaching out to the sexy bad boy of the UFC, even knowing the forbidden love affair could jeopardize everything.

As the tide rises against them and the people they love work at keeping them apart, Romeo and Jules hold onto a dream for a better life together and vow to go down fighting rather than accept a tragic ending.

He got caught by the long arm of the law once before, but this time the attractive blond attached to it is much too tempting to resist.

Romeo Wellings is all too familiar with what it means to be a fighter. From fighting to keep food on the table for his younger brothers to fighting to keep custody of them, Romeo has endured much, which has prepared him for fighting at a professional level. However, no matter how much money he makes or the titles he attains, his small family is still under the threat of the mob. Ties cast in blood leave Romeo with little choice but to deal, that is until a tall blond with a tight bod and a southern accent decides she wants to buy him dinner. Romeo is ready for the break she offers from his drama filled life, but when it’s time to part ways, Romeo struggles and begins a different kind of fight – this time for love.

Life in a small town couldn’t get any busier for Juliet Connor. As if working as a lawyer and deputy to the Sheriff weren’t enough, Jules also teaches self-defense courses for women. However, life is pretty lonely in the Connor household with only her brother to keep her company. Jules easily intimidates men with her success and stature, so when Romeo shows her his desire for the independent woman that she is, Jules is not only turned-on but surprised. Unfortunately, their attraction must remain a secret even as emotions get deeper with each Skype encounter. Aside from the complications and drama with both their families, Romeo still has secrets he’s keeping from Jules and Jules can’t fully trust him outside of their undeniable chemistry. Now with their hearts on the line, sacrifices must be made that will either bring them and their families together or tear them all apart with deadly consequences.

A fantastic second installment to the Battered Hearts series! This time things are more suspenseful, more dramatic, and much sexier. Romeo and Jules take things to a new erotic level with their voyeuristic Skype chats and a sexually charged encounter on the mats at the dojo. The romance is a dominating element in the story and really changes and reshapes Romeo and Jules in the most brilliant way as events unfold and reveal the challenges on both sides. There is a lot of love, but there is also a lot of conflict, so the story is very balanced.

Descriptively the characters and the setting are done quite well with the dialogue only enhancing the charm of the entire story. The pacing of it all compliments the story and keeps the reader engaged, so it is easy to become invested in the characters and this small southern town. And yet Romeo’s brothers added a new depth and twist to the overall storyline that really has me anticipating future books in the series. If nothing else, the story’s only fault is that it didn’t keep going. This one is an official re-read for me and I will blindly pick up the next in the series.

When Kathleen Allen sets eyes on the man she’s known since her youth, Graham Hollis, she learns what being a woman is all about. She can’t tear her gaze off the rugged and brooding cowboy. After she throws herself at him, he refuses to take her unless they’re married. A secret wedding wasn’t exactly what she’d expected, though every heated touch gives her exactly what she wanted–and more.

An ex-Cavalry officer in the war for the South, Graham still fights his demons daily. When Kathleen enters his life, he finds himself resurrecting memories of the wife he’s lost, as well as needs he’d thought long dead. However, an ex-spy is fresh out of prison and Graham is certain he’ll try to reap revenge by harming the woman he’s grown to love.

Together, Graham and Kathleen must face perils, posses, and passions as they fight to hold onto the one thing they need to truly live–each other.

Civil War Veteran, Graham Hollis has a past that threatens all those he cares about. He will stop at nothing to protect his new love, Kathleen, even when danger comes at her from unexpected sources.

Graham and Kathleen are the kind of lovers who are destined to be together. Every moment they spend with each other is more heated and intense with love and desire. Kathleen is a strong, yet sweet young woman who follows her heart and trusts the consequences to fate. It was impossible for me not to adore this fresh, loving character. Kathleen meets every challenge with courage and heart.

Though it has been many years since the two have set eyes on each other, the power of their attraction gives the illusion that they have been together for all time. In fact, Kathleen was still a young girl when Graham last saw her. The consuming emotion and lust they have for each other is immediate and undeniable. There is no doubt in either mind that there can be no other love in their lives.

This story has everything any captivating adventure romance could offer… an emotionally powerful love affair that truly leaves a singeing ‘trail of lust’; strong, unforgettable characters who are easy to relate to; and such adventure that you’ll find yourself holding your breath. Graham is the powerful, sexy man of any woman’s dreams and he doesn’t disappoint.

I have nothing but good to say about this well rounded and expertly written tale. I recommend it to all romance lovers and eagerly await the third installment in talented Em Petrova’s, Hollis Boys series. This one is not to miss!

Submissive Mia Manetti is devastated when her first Master uncollars her just as she was hoping for a permanent relationship with him. Trying to move on, she agrees to sub for a powerful and sexy new Dom.

Chess Ryan has wanted Mia from the first moment he saw her at Club Restraint, but it was always “hands off” because she belonged to his friend Philip. Now, thanks to that friend’s maneuvers, Mia is finally his. But only for a little while.

Mia finds it increasingly difficult to keep her feelings in check as she experiences erotic delights with Master Chess, sensual and sexual fantasies that she’s never known before. But she fears she setting herself up for another heartache. Guilt, secrets and misplaced pride all keep Chess and Mia from being completely honest with each other. As they connect sexually and emotionally, they realize their relationship has grown too serious to be called “play”.

How far are they willing to go as Master and slave?

This book had me reading it from cover to cover and hooked me right from the first word. I love it when the heroine and hero are both real people with problems just like everyone else. With characters that practically breathe, a plot that will surprise you with its twists and turns and the edgy rise into a new relationship, this book will keep you reading into the night and have you grabbing your e-reader over your coffee and corn flakes in the morning.

What would you do if your husband or boyfriend suddenly decided one day that he was ready to move on and didn’t really tell you why? This is the heart wrenching situation that we find our heroine, Mia, in Uncollared. Her Master doesn’t want her anymore and she is devastated. He was her world. For most of us, the man in our lives can and does become part of our orbit and when the planets become misaligned, bad things happen. We don’t eat. We don’t take care of ourselves. Author Nora Raines does a great job of illustrating Mia’s hurt and confused feelings. Frankly, I clutched my e-reader in hand most days, eager to read the next chapter or two.

The other intriguing point in the way Nora Raines wrote Uncollared was how she handled the hero, Chess. He’s a Dom who is about to lose his business. Chess is a real guy that is struggling to hold on to something that is slipping away from him a little every day. Mia, as his new sub, gives him hope, and in turn, they bump and grind through the carnage of Mia’s old relationship and the tentative beginnings of a new one. This really worked for me. The way Chess was able to introduce himself into Mia’s life was masterful and as their relationship progressed, I found the story drawing me in because of the fragile nature of it and the strength that it gave to both characters.

When you are looking at conflict in this book, there are several that keep you reading. First and foremost, you have Mia and her anger toward Phillip, the Master who left her. You also have Mia’s body image that gives an oh-so in your face reality moment for most of us. It drew me in. Honestly, what woman doesn’t have issues with something on her body? Then you have Chess trying to force his way into Mia’s life. She resents it, but needs to feel the mastery that comes from a BDSM relationship. Talk about hot! Wow. Finally you have the real life situations that both Mia and Chess have to deal with out of the bedroom, with her work as a social worker and his as a business owner in the grips of losing everything his family has worked for.

Nona Raines has done a wonderful job mixing real images of people and the intricacies of a BDSM relationship. People with hearts that are broken from the events in their lives come together to fill a need and in doing so, create a plot with fire. The dialogue felt real, the emotions spot on and my finger hurt from flicking my e-reader to find out what happened. The sex was steamy and each scene was well thought out and not repetitive in any way.

Uncollared is a book that will be staying on my e-reader library shelf for a long time. If you love an evocatively written book with real people that enjoy a BDSM relationship, then this one is for you.

This is another great book in this ongoing series. I found myself immersed in Constance and Aidan’s story right from the start. I loved meeting these two and watching their relationship takes shape. Likewise, he’s a great man who may not be looking for love but I think it has found him anyway. Their romance is full of ups and downs making for an emotional read. Aidan and Constance and their world are brought vividly to life making this book a wonderful story. I enjoyed seeing both Aidan and Constance struggle with their own feelings. Both are strong individuals but together they make a beautiful couple. Not only do they show us how hot and sexy their relationship is but we also get a fun and romantic read with their story.

I love returning to Bondage Ranch and meeting the new people. Every time I open a new book in this series it’s like visiting old friends. I cannot wait to see whom we meet next at the ranch.

Shane and Noah set out to seduce Kitty Velvet into selling them her family’s struggling steel company at a deep discount. They plan a weekend of deception and sexual adventure to convince her to give up the business she spent her life keeping afloat. As they begin their passionate getaway, things don’t go as planned. Instead of putting their rival out of business, they gain deeper feelings for the feisty blonde – and for each other. With their world upside down, Shane and Noah must now decide if business ambitions are worth losing a chance at something bigger than money, and more precious than owning a steel empire.

Kitty has worked hard to keep Velvet Steel afloat, but changing technologies and the growth of their rivals have made the company’s continued viability almost impossible. As she embarks on a erotic weekend to de-stress and regroup, she develops feelings for two strangers who turn out to be the very men who have made her life a living hell for the past year. But is saving her family business worth losing her only chance at love?

Kitty Velvet needs a night off and she knows just where to go. As she is enjoying herself at her favorite club she meets two gorgeous young men. Their party is interrupted and Kitty invites the men to go with her and see where the night takes them. Will Kitty find love or will the mens secret ruin it all? Lies always have a way of coming out; will Shane and Noah’s be worth it?

This story was a hard one for me to get into. We learn quickly on in the book that the men are trying to seduce Kitty and get her to try and sell the family business, which made it hard for me to like them. I found it hard to immerse myself in the romance between the men and Kitty because I continued to think about the men lying to and tricking Kitty. She’s a strong woman who is trying to let off some steam after continuously working to save the company day after day.

The sex is a hot read and it flows well between the three but the sexual conflict between the two men became a distraction for me. In a way it seemed that they just used Kitty to make their relationship all right. Even with this the three are good together and it was nice to see them develop their relationship. There was a lot of attention paid to the lovemaking and not too much on the actual storyline. I kept waiting for Kitty to find out about the lies but every time a scene would end another one would begin. Somebody always seemed to be having sex or the men were dealing with their own relationship. Even Kitty notices this and gives the men an ultimatum about their relationship.

Watching Noah and Shane figure out their relationship was a nice read. The men love each other and begin to have feelings for Kitty but they must find out where their relationship stands before they decide on the relationship that includes all three of them. It was nice to see each man develop a bond with Kitty as well and had me hoping that the three would find a solution to all their problems. Although this book may not a favorite for me, I am a fan of this author and plan to continue reading her work because I know I’ll find another book that will be a favorite. If a hot menage with some lovely M/M action and a bit of deception is what you’re in the mood for, look no further than Velvet Steel.

Cara is haunted by the recent memories of a warehouse explosion that took the life of her best friend and caught her in the blast. Urged by friends to experiment with tattoo to cover the burns scars on her shoulder, Cara heads for the mysterious tattoo shop in Portland everyone is talking about.

Aedhan, the gorgeous tattoo master, leaves her senses reeling and her knees weak. Just the touch of his talented hands brings relief and a sense of release from her pain. His charming, eccentric ways, combined with his tangerine hair and odd accent, create an intoxicating mix. To her delight, the incredible tattoo he expertly lays over her scar hides everything–and makes her long for more of his healing touch.

Soon she is pulled into an erotic journey of unimagined delight, terror and transformation. Dragons? In Portland? Really? Oozing sex and magic? Yet, something isn’t quite adding up. Is Aedhan really telling her the truth about what he’s doing in that shop? But she’s so crazy in lust and wonder, it’s hard to care.

Shape-shifter Aedhan fully intends to follow the rules of his secret mission, number one being no sex with the human women in Portland. Then Cara shows up at his shop and her sweetness and delightful freckles almost stops his heart. When he perceives the sorrow in her life, he is consumed with the need to know more. Who has hurt her? After he gets a taste of her blood on his tattoo needles and discovers the extra special something in her fluids, he decides he must see Cara again, even if it means breaking the rules.

And that’s when things start to go terribly wrong…or perfectly right for Cara and the Draca.

Magic spells, shape-shifting dragons, secret missions, what’s not to love?  And this book has all that and more:  romance, steamy and hot sex, and tattoos, just for a bit of added spice. Cara and the Darca is book two in Louisa Kelley’s Daughter of Draca series.

Dragons are looking for a way to rebuild their population, traveling from their secret sanctuary out into the world they search for women who are part Draca. Aedhan is sent to Portland and through a tattoo shop he scouts for compatible women, enter Cara a woman scarred by an incident involving another Draca, she comes to heal, to receive a tattoo, which will cover up the scar and allow her a fresh life. Romance, danger and intrigue ensure.

The book is well written, flows well, and the plot line does not have any major inconsistencies. The story stands on its own. I have not had the opportunity to read the first book and I had no issues following the storyline.

While the story line had a unique twist to it, character development could have had more depth. The characters met, fall in love, but Cara is incredibly accepting without any real issues. Most people, even those who love the paranormal would be a little less accepting and more freaked out when confronted with the reality of it.

At 126 pages, it is a quick read and perfect if you want some quick spicy romance. I have a whole library of these books because there are times when you just want to lose yourself in the story, without any remarkable or crazy things. In that, it absolutely excels in my book and definitely has my recommendation.
