It would have been helpful to have more hints about what the author was trying to communicate about this character as I was confused by all of these pieces of her life that didn’t fit together.

All of the flashbacks were used effectively. At first I was a little surprised by how often the narrator jumped back into the past given that this is a short story, but every single of those scenes was important in order to understand what was currently going on in Maggie and California’s lives. I was glad to have all of them.

California Skies is a good choice for anyone who likes romances that are set in the American frontier.

Without them I would have still liked him, but including them made me wish his tale would never end.

The only thing holding this story back from a much higher rating was how quickly the romance developed. Based on what I knew about the characters involved in it, I would have expected them to spend far more time figuring each other out before either one made any romantic gestures. They both struck me as extremely cautious people, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Because of this, it was odd to me to see them take so leaps of faith.

With that being said, the chemistry between Oliver and Oakenshire the Elf was really well done. I definitely wanted to see them end up together. They shared enough common interests to give them something to talk about on a date. More importantly, though, they both had kind hearts and the same goals in life. They seemed like two people who could develop a strong friendship, and that is definitely something I like seeing in this genre.

The Good Guys made me feel warm and happy. It’s a nice choice for anyone in the mood for a gentle romance.

There were some pacing issues. The interesting thing about these elements of the story, though, was that I was fascinated by all of them. I wouldn’t have wanted any of them to be cut out. It simply would have been helpful for them to have been spread out evenly through the plot. The beginning and ending both felt cluttered to me, while the middle portion could have benefitted from some more conflict.

One of the things I enjoy the most about Ms. Rabig’s writing style is how seamless it is. Reading this book often felt more like listen to an old friend talk about what’s going on in their life than following a line of text on a page. The writing was simply that smooth and hypnotic.

Snow White and the Seventh Bodyguard is a clever tale that I’d recommend to anyone who is in the mood for something romantic.

The blurb is what hooked me into giving this book a try but the amazing plot, fascinating main character and the mystery of the dragons kept me until the climactic and exciting conclusion. Dragon Consultant was a delightful treat that I really enjoyed reading.

Dane is a hero who is more than human. At first I thought he was Fae but what he really is, is even more fascinating and interesting. It’s a good thing he is what he is because his talents are needed by dragonkind everywhere, they just don’t know it yet. But they will because their survival is tied to his quest.

Part of Dane’s commitment comes from his saving Mercury and his family. I adored how the author presented every one of the kids/kits and provided me with clear insights into their personalities and quirks. I chuckled frequently, smiled and enjoyed their antics, but I also hurt for them because those young kits are survivors of tragic circumstances. The drama from multiple rescues, close calls and the revelation of a darker more evil plot arc kept me flipping the pages. The suspense is gripping and because I grew to care for all the kits and Dane and Mercury, the reading experience was intense and heart thumping.

As for the relationship with Dane and Mercury, it’s slow in growing because the author took time to tell a story. It’s well written and very meaty with lots of layers and that’s why I loved this book so much. It’s not about the sex, it’s about the people, it’s about surviving the odds and coming out winners, and when Dane and Mercury finally allow themselves to express how they really feel for each other, once the fires are out and everyone is safe, they celebrate life in the most basic and passionate way. They finally took that wonderful, physical step and yet it wasn’t graphic. I appreciated the fact that Ms. Eight didn’t feel the need to sex it up – their love spoke loudly and strongly with what the author chose to share and it’s beautiful. It’s the essence of romance and that thrilled me.

Dragon Consultant is the first in a series because it’s listed as a Supernatural Consultant, Book one. I’m excited. That means I’ll be seeing more of Dane and Mercury as they follow the clues to save the other captives, and I get to see how Lumie is faring, how Nickel is growing and if Zinc is truly safe and recovering. The author has presented me with a lot of characters I’ve come to care for and if future books in the series are as well written, and continue to engage my emotions and concern for all the people I’ve met in Dragon Consultant, then I can be counted on to read more books in the series. I’m definitely hooked.

There were pacing issues. Far more time was spent introducing the characters and setting everything than was spent on moving the plot forward. While I was fascinated by the events described in the blurb, I struggled to pay attention in the beginning of this story because of how slowly it was moving. It would have been helpful to have more conflict early on so that at least some of my questions about what was going on could be resolved.

I enjoyed the dialogue in this story. There was a little less of it than I would have expected to find in something of this length, but that only made me appreciate what was there even more than I would have otherwise. When the characters did speak, I paid close attention to what they were saying. Every word that came out of their mouths was important. I liked that.

Lisa made choices in this tale that I had a hard time understanding. For example, she knowingly picked an expensive, fragile outfit on a day she was travelling to a place that was extremely rustic. I would have really liked to know why she’d do something like this when she knew ahead of time that the terrain wasn’t at all suited for this kind of clothing. She made other, similar decisions that also didn’t make sense for someone who was otherwise so intelligent. I would have preferred to know why she was written this way as these scenes didn’t seem to match what the narrator told me about her earlier.

The supernatural elements were handled nicely. I enjoyed slowly unwinding the legend of what happened on the island where Clair St. Sabre lives. There were just enough tantalizing hints of what was going on in her house to keep my interest levels high even though the narrator took a while to reveal the biggest clues. In the end, I ended up appreciating the leisurely pace. It fit the mysterious atmosphere well.

Going the Greatest Distance is a good choice for anyone who is in the mood for a ghost story.

This is a fun short story, one that I really enjoyed. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the small turns in the plot, ones I didn’t find at all clichés but rather refreshingly different. I also strongly sympathized with Wyatt. He wanted to avoid the usual route most country artists take, and is determined to make something meaningful and still his own. Bryce is the perfect counterpart for him. Bryce is happy to push Wyatt out of his comfort zone and get him thinking along different lines. I think it’s exactly what both men need and was thrilled at how great they came together.

There’s a very sensual M/M love scene. I found it smoking hot, but not outrageous or offensive. I also enjoyed the build up to it – Wyatt and Bryce didn’t just hop into bed with each other. Plenty of ground work is laid out beforehand. I was a little disappointed with Bryce and Wyatt’s reactions after the sensual scene – that alone was the only part of the story I felt clichéd and a let-down, but I did find the resolution satisfying and the happy ending is always a bonus in my eyes.

A strong M/M short story that I’d recommend to other readers.

After calling Mark in to fix a drip, Kenneth suddenly has a greater appreciation for the theory and his long-dormant paper. When the leak proves to be stubborn, the two men have the time and space to talk. Kenneth is pleased to find Mark knows a bit about philosophy, and Mark learns that Kenneth has a few surprises up his sleeve.

While I found the pace of this story slightly slow, I enjoyed the fact there was plenty of space for the men to get to know each other. I think this more leisurely pace will appeal to readers who are new to the M/M genre or not ready for the steamier, faster paced, more erotic stories. I feel this is a great introduction to how strong but still sensual M/M romance can be. While there is a consummation scene, it’s not explicit and instead largely alluded to – instead of described in detail. I enjoyed how the author left much of the scene to my imagination and found the chemistry between the two men very steamy.

A thoughtful, deep story that I found myself drawn into and really enjoyed.

Depression isn’t always an easy disease to treat. By far my favorite part of this tale was how honest it was about what it’s like to live with this kind of mental illness. It still treated Samantha with the kindness that she deserved, though. Her struggles were neither sugar coated or sensationalized. They were simply one part of one ordinary person’s life, and I appreciated that.

I was impressed with how intricate the world building was. The narrator gave such a detailed overview of what it’s like to be an angel that I almost felt as though I could sneak into heaven and know exactly what was going on at any point in time. What makes this amazing is that the hierarchy of angels in this afterlife is anything but simple. There was a lot to learn about where Eli and Adam came from, but I picked it all up very quickly.

There were several plot twists that I didn’t see coming ahead of time. It was a lot of fun to be surprised by them, especially since they worked so well with everything that had been shared with the audience before they happened. I don’t typically miss these kinds of surprises in stories, so the fact that Ms. Rabig kept me completely unaware of what was coming was pretty wonderful.

Angels with Clipped Wings was glorious. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

It was satisfying to see how this idea was played out between these characters because of how quickly everything moved and how they reacted to everything that was going on around them.

It was confusing to switch between the narrators so often. While I was intrigued by both of them as individuals, I would have preferred to get to know one of them better instead of learning a little bit about each of them. There simply wasn’t enough space to give both of the main characters the attention they deserved in this story.

The dialogue was well done. All three of the characters had distinct voices that I was soon able to identify even before the plot reminded me who was speaking. It was really interesting to see how their personalities mingled together as the characters wandered deeper and deeper into the logical consequences of the contest. Their voices sounded even more unique as I grew to know them better.
