Clumsy girl Zoe Rossdale is back, married to the love of her life, Curt Bertoletti, and setting off on another crazy adventure–maybe the most fun and dangerous of all. Having a baby!

This was a first for me, I’ve heard about people who are this clumsy, but never really met them. This book brought me into the mind and life of a clumsy married woman.

Clumsy Girl’s Guide to Having a Baby does not start at or before the wedding. It starts five years into the marriage. This was a simple love story, but a love story that does a fantastic job of depicting married life. As the much anticipated follow up to Clumsy Girl’s Guide to Falling in Love, it was a neat way to see what happens when the honeymoon is over.

I loved reading about Zoe’s clumsy “accidents”. They were hilarious to the point of being almost unbelievable.

It was so easy to visualize this young woman who trips over blades of grass or air. A young woman who gets into a lot of clumsy accidents and then she gets pregnant. Gets big and can’t see her feet. If for nothing else this book should be read for the hilarity of it all.

That being said, Zoe’s clumsiness is not the only story here and that is a good thing. The book has some serious parts which made it all the more real because a marriage is sometimes serious. Couples don’t always communicate well and sometimes they disagree. It’s real life. The romance is hot but the bedroom door is firmly closed.

A clever story told mostly from Zoe’s POV but with insight into Curt’s take on it all. A very entertaining read.

When a priceless artifact is stolen, museum curator Lana Gomez becomes the prime suspect. How can she hope to adopt her orphaned nephew if she’s a person of interest in a crime? But when the real thief returns set on silencing Lana, it is Adam and his Doberman pinscher, Ace, who become her only defense against a madman who wants nothing more than to see Lana eliminated.

Capitol K-9 Unit: These lawmen solve the toughest cases with the help of their brave canine partners.

A mystery wrapped in a mystery but which one leads to the HEA? That’s what I found most intriguing about this novel. The one that involved Lana and Adam is all over the place in the beginning but towards the end, I could see which way it was heading. I didn’t mind the other one not being resolved because I clearly got the picture that there was another case, another hero, who was going to have to deal with it. Adam and Lana had enough to deal with in Duty Bound Guardian.

The interesting thing about this book was set up. The author took time for a reader to understand the demons that drove both the hero and heroine and it was easy to see how both their pasts affected their present. I liked how the author showed Adam and Lana, in turn, seeing the strengths of the other person as they battle to stay alive and solve the case. I saw their trust grow, the attraction simmer and the best part is how Ace, the K-9 officer and Adam’s partner, played a major role, like an equal character, in the novel. I’ve seen K-9 officers in action and they truly are an amazing team in real life and I could relate. A police officer and his canine partner really are inseparable. That loyalty comes in handy many times throughout the story.

The most Adam and Lana do that physically shows when their extreme attraction for each other combusts and passion overcomes them, is kiss. It was enough to satisfy me that the chemistry is smoking hot but they toed the line because of the seriousness of their situation. It was realistic in that regard. Then again, they both have a strong sense of faith in God and quite a few times they ask/pray for strength and guidance, and a little saving especially when the bullets fly. It’s not overdone at all, instead it provides a healthy dose of grounding, which reminds me, that even when things are at their worst, comfort can come from a higher source, and it can see a person through.

I think I might have guessed as to whom the bad guy was, but I wasn’t sure because the author, through use of her characters, kept throwing me off of the scent. In the end, the heroine was just as shocked as I was. I liked that.

Duty Bound Guardian is a clever read with heart pounding action. It was entertaining, exciting and I really enjoyed myself. I’d recommend this to all romance suspense readers who don’t want to read a huge tome but want a quick edgy read that affects their breathing in all the best ways. It’s a solid recommend.

Five very different women, each carrying her own secret, meet on the Jersey shore for a retreat: Embracing the New You: Reinventing Yourself After Fifty. A story about change, self-acceptance, and sisterhood.

The flyer reads: Embracing the New You: Reinventing Yourself After Fifty. Liv, Andi, Julia, Markie, and Cee Cee each arrive at the women’s retreat with her own agenda and her own secret. Retreat director, Bree, is called away for a family emergency and the five women are left on their own to deal with their differences, reveal their secrets and find what each is seeking.

Five women, each strangers with their life out of alignment, come together on the Jersey shore expecting eight days of respite, which might put their lives back on track. What each woman did not expect was to find new friends.

It’s one thing to be young and vibrant and know your dreams are ahead, but it’s quite another when you’re 50+ and realize you’ve been so busy holding life together for others, your own dreams have slipped away.

When Julia, Markie, Andi, Liv, and Cee Cee first meet, they find themselves stranded together on the front porch steps of Siochain – the women’s retreat whose name means peace. It’s easy to see these women are vastly different, and their personalities clash or cradle each other almost immediately.

Upon their arrival, Bree, the director of the retreat, is nowhere to be found. With the day’s heat bearing down, and menopausal Andi already complaining of heat flashes, Markie decides to search for a hidden key. “It’s not breaking in if you have a key,” she assures them. Once inside, they find out that Bree has been called away on a family emergency, and with each women desperate to get something from the “Reinventing Yourself After 50!” retreat, they decide to stay. During the week, the strengths and weaknesses of each woman come into play. We learn about their life struggle, as well as the secret each woman carries with her.

Romance is not a key element in this story, although love makes its own powerful point. So much so, in fact, that the reader may find themselves redefining their own understanding of it.

I found myself totally immersed in the lives of these five women. Their journey felt personal, as if they had shared their secrets with only me.

The character development in this book was superb! Only a masterful writer could create the individual backstory behind each of these characters. Readers, especially those who are 50+, may feel as though they’ve been on a women’s retreat themselves after finishing this wonderful novel.

Sam works as a hospital chaplain and volunteers as chaplain with the local police department. Called to the scene of a domestic dispute, he crosses paths with Frank, best friend of the victim. Though the two share a moment, they go their separate ways… but meet again outside the hospital after one of Sam’s patients dies…

Therefore in order to stop this malfunction from destroying one’s physical abilities they have introduced the anti-impotency solution viagra on sale opacc.cv that has been continued till the date. Sam is an Episcopalian member of clergy, a consultant with the police and works frequent shifts for his pastoral care rotation in the local hospital. He’s also gay. When Sam is called out to a domestic dispute, he meets Frank and the attraction between them is instantaneous. They bump into each other again a few months later while Sam is doing a difficult shift at the hospital and this time neither can deny the chemistry between them.

This is a great, but very different type of short story. While the romance aspect of it is very sweet (a lot of “getting to know you” and a few kisses) I feel much of the rest of the content might press the buttons of some readers. When Sam and Frank meet initially, it’s because Sam is called out in his position as a police consultant for a domestic case. One where the offender is a transvestite named Sandra. I actually really enjoyed Sandra’s character, and found the scene very powerful and emotional. There is a lot of praying and a serious, spiritual confession. I strongly feel this won’t be every reader’s cup of tea.

While this is certainly not your “standard” romance story, I enjoyed it. My main disappointment was that instead of being swept away and carried off in the story like I often am when I read, the entire book was so serious I found myself unable to let loose. Rather than the usual entertainment/escapism feeling, I found this a well written, but serious-toned book. I didn’t find it lighthearted, fun or frivolous. And while that’s not a criticism, it did mean I didn’t relax and enjoy it in the normal sense of my reading pleasure.

I did, however, enjoy the experience of reading a book from a completely different perspective. I found the hospital cases Sam worked very difficult and emotional, and also appreciated seeing Sam and Frank learn more about each other and begin their relationship together. In some respects I felt this was a procedural style story, with the various cases and outcomes. While the bulk of the spotlight was on Sam, and he did begin a relationship with Frank, much of this happens in the last quarter or so of the book. Sam’s work, and the “cases” he fielded really set the tone for me. There is romance, but after reading it that felt more like a sub-plot, or secondary to me.

I found this to be a different, fresh type of story, one that certainly won’t be to everyone’s taste but romantically sweet nevertheless. I feel open-minded readers could well enjoy this story as much as I did.

Definitely a different look at Christian religion, but I liked it. God rests on the Sabbath, but his Sabbath lasts a million years. Meanwhile Earth has gone to the dogs.

A decision must be made regarding the future of humans. Does man deserve another chance or should the slate be wiped clean to make way for a different species?

Martin, an asexual with an unhappy past, spends his days avoiding the gangs who would make a sex slave of him. Eventually he decides to commit suicide and goes to Spire Rock to throw himself off the cliff. Instead he meets the angel Anael and they become friends. He agrees to help Anael make the decision regarding man’s future.

Anael is exactly what I would expect an angel to be. Full of compassion, but aware of man’s frailty when it comes to life. Martin is the product of hurt and humiliation and the author made me sympathise and empathise with both angel and human. They are joined by an escaped slave, Sarah, who has a secret of her own.

The final decision on man’s future will be made by the Archangel Gabriel and the three journey forth to Spire Rock to advise him of what they have discovered. This book led me onward, wanting to find out what happened but the last few pages held a bombshell of shock. A good read despite the fact I’m not particularly religious.

William is dedicated to his religion. His ambition is to go to India, the Far East or Africa to help the underprivileged. Unfortunately the Dean of the City of London (his sponsor) has other ideas and arranges for William to take over a living in Shropshire. Afraid to say no, William travels to Shropshire but is determined to escape to his missionary work as soon as possible.

Cecilia is considered a dreamer and spends most of her time wandering the countryside with her paints and sketchbook. Her mother has plans for her to marry the younger son of the local nobility, and her daughter obediently tries to attract the man’s attention.

The beginning of the seemed a bit slow and dry, but after the first few pages I got hooked. Cecilia blossomed into a woman who knew her own mind, but didn’t want to disappoint her mama. William wrestled with his love for Cecilia and his desire to do missionary work. His longing to be a missionary did not include a wife.

I felt as if both the main characters were my friends and I longed to be able to help them, especially when the nasty younger son had designs on Cecilia which didn’t include marriage. The setting was outside the debutante area of London and this made it more interesting for me as it provided a new aspect to the era. Charlotte Brentwood has provided a unique vision into small village life when the nobility ruled everything.

Kimberly Jackson did a great job painting a picture of the different scenes. At the same time, I would have liked a little bit more descriptiveness in some.

I was with Ashley and her father from the start to the finish. In every step of the way there were parts of the journal which allowed the cleaning of lodge to come through and give a semblance of normality.

Now I’ve read the book I know how the workshops at the North Pole happened.

Each night two children are told a chapter of a story which involves the nativity and Santa Claus. Strange combination? Not really when you consider Santa Claus comes to visit all children on Christ’s birthday.

When Mary and Joseph arrive at the stable in Bethlehem Shai and Adi are sleeping in the stable because they’ve let out all the room at their inn. Adi helps Mary give birth to Jesus and when an angel warns them of the plan to dispose of all new babies, they escape with the new family to Egypt. Shai and Adi stay with the family for the rest of the story and then their own tale begins.

The Innkeeper of Bethlehem tells the nativity and life of Jesus in a fictional way ending with the birth of Santa Claus. Each chapter has a daily date running from December 6th to December 24th. I wish I had a grandchild living nearer to me so that I could read a chapter each night. I’m sure it would encourage a young person to go to bed quickly so the next day and next chapter would arrive quickly.

Well thought out and well written. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it presented facts and fiction in a way bound to interest children.

An intricate tale of love and renewal… Psychologist Lenora Lawrence lingers in a coma after being shot by a sniper as a web of intrigue unravels around her. Her redemptive work with society’s ex-convicts and her personal counseling with vulnerable women has created many enemies in the resort town of Lake Geneva, WI. Lenora’s colleague and good friend, Jennifer Trevor, intends to see that Lenora’s sniper is brought to justice, even if it means making deadly enemies herself.

Bullet in the Night is a fast-paced action thriller which had me captured from the first paragraph. Jennifer Trevor hears that Lenora Lawrence, her good friend and fellow psychologist, has been shot by a sniper. I liked Jennifer. She is a quick thinking, smart, kind person who would never give up on a friend. She refuses to let Lenora’s husband railroad one of Lenora’s clients, Kirk, an ex-convict, into the role of murderer. Something just doesn’t seem right to Jennifer and she is determined to discover the truth, no matter what the cost to her personally.

The plot is intricate and very complex. There are myriad possible suspects and Jennifer must work carefully to find the truth. Every time I thought I’d pegged the murderer, then I’d learn something else which caused me to shift my ideas. I didn’t finally figure things out until the very end, just as Jennifer herself put the pieces together. The author gave her readers all the appropriate clues, but there were so many ways to read those clues that I was on the edge of my seat right to the end.

My only issue with the novel is that it is very heavily Christian. Prayer and Biblical references abound, especially as the novel progresses. I admit this is a personal bias as I am not a Christian, but I felt that these references were distracting and interfered with the pacing of the novel. This is such a great mystery, one which I couldn’t put down, that I solved my issues by skipping all the paragraphs that switched into religious mode. And it is only a guess, but I suspect that the heavy-handiness of the references might be off-putting to other readers as well.

Nevertheless, the story is a dynamite one and well worth pursuing. I recommend it to any readers who like a challenging mystery. This one is a real page turner.

When her boss Joel Cushman catches her using the spa shower at The Manse, junior accountant and graduating college senior Manda Doughty comes clean about the alcoholic drinking that has led her into a disastrous relationship with a predatory professor. Joel, who is also a trustee of the college, is faced with more problems than a beautiful, naked woman in his shower. While he’d rather make love all night with funny, brainy Manda, Joel knows his desire for her has no future if Manda cannot stay sober, grow up, and face her problems. While Manda immerses herself in AA, Joel uncovers harassment and embezzlement that threaten the existence of the college his ancestors founded. Can he fix the problems at the college without exposing Manda to public humiliation? Can Manda clean up her mess and trust the love she feels for Joel? The odds may not be in their favor, but miracles happen for those who are willing to change their lives and open their hearts.

This book deals openly, honestly, and with no holds barred about a couple of tough subjects: alcoholism and abuse.

The reader is pulled right in at the very first with a terrified Manda trying to sleep in her car at work. The story is less about Manda getting away from her abuser, though, and more about both Manda and Joel dealing with their own internal demons. With the help of AA and the 12 step program, they realize they have to take the time to heal so they can be the people they are supposed to be for each other.

Inspirational without being preachy, Stepping Up to Love shows just how relationships are supposed to work.

This is the first book of the series and that makes me happy. I’m looking forward to reading the next which I hope will revisit not only the area but the characters as well (a Justin/Gwen pairing, maybe?). Recommended.
