For me, this is a first. In a nice turn of events, it isn’t just the male lead who’s kicking tail and taking names, in this short novel Brisa, an MMA fighter, is every bit as strong and determined to see her job to the end.

I love action packed romances and this one had action, romance, fight scenes, love and so much more. There were highs and lows for me in this book.

The author is descriptive and did a good job of helping the readers visualize the scenes, especially fight scenes. Though the constant POV changes were an issue for me. The continuous back and forth POV between Brisa and Wings, made it so there were times I felt like I was forcing myself to continue read it. There were also some editing issues that would be easy to fix.

However, I’m thankful I read the book to the end. The suspense and the mystery paid off. The climax was action packed and worth the wait.

Brisa is more than a ring fighter, she’s a spy, dispatched to clean up the bad things or actions in the MMA world around the country. She’s also very intelligent. The author did a good job revealing a lot about Brisa.

The big bad of this trilogy is revealed and shut down with the help of Brisa and her love interest, Wings. I felt that there was somethings regarding these spy missions I was missing because this is the third book in the series. Reading the books in order would likely make the series as a whole more enjoyable.

I think readers who like stories set in exotic locations but with the familiarity of motorcycle club themes could enjoy this book. The mystery element along with the players was unique. Brisa and Wing’s story as well the as the plot was revealed slowly and it was a great ending to a good book and closure to the series.

I liked meeting Dare and Haven. They worked well together and I enjoyed watching how they took turns taking baby steps in revealing their innermost hopes, dreams, hurts and pains. They both come from messed up backgrounds so it makes sense that they’d have a hard time not only recognizing, but admitting to being in love. Yet, each time their eyes lock, they touch, kiss or talk about peanut butter cookies, a reader can feel the emotion and passion between them.

The villain in the piece is very well drawn and he’s evil. Haven is right to be scared; her father has lost his humanity. Proof of that comes in the climactic finale. During that same scene, a reader sees just how far Haven has come in being her own person with her own will. It’s impressive writing.

The bedroom door is blasted right open and readers who enjoy scenes of high-powered, intense and powerful passion will find plenty of opportunities for satisfaction. It helps that they also help grow Haven and Dare’s romance and relationship. That’s important to me for those kinds of scenes to impress me.

Fans of Ms. Kaye should be in their happy place while reading Ride Hard . I’m a first time reader and I enjoyed myself so much that I’m interested in past books written by this author. Her style is such that the men come across as men; they work hard and play harder and when they love, it’s forever. They’re my kind of romance heroes.

This is the 9th Book in this series, but let me tell you it did not at all feel like I was reading the 9th book. I completely forgot this was the 9th book.

This is a paranormal with bits and pieces of mystery and suspense in it. I’m glad. I liked the mix. There was a broken vampire, a doctor with a ‘Dr. Frozen’ reputation, and passion. Those are not the only interesting things in this book. There was so much more! There are multiple plots in this story and I loved that. It kept me on my toes and never let me get bored. Yes, it also made me want to know more and more about them and the author delivered all the answers. The climax was ‘epic’ and very momentous. I’m glad I got to read this book.

Luke and Alexis together is a passionate combo. Alexis changes when she meets Luke. No more Dr. Frozen–she’s now ‘Hot Doctor’ and she’s a brilliant doctor who is also known for having a cold demeanor towards others. Luke is a broken, but a very dangerous vampire. Their first meeting made me smile. When she realizes that he is her neighbor, all bets are off. But Alexis isn’t the only one with a chance to change. Luke does, too. It was not easy for him to let go of his carefully buried heart. He did not want to get hurt, but no one can change the future or know what will happen. Ms. Hughes showed me second chances do happen.

For readers who are not just satisfied with a simple paranormal romance, this is the perfect story for you. It has action, sizzling hot romance and vampires. I got tons more than I expected an it was great. Recommended.

Ms. Benet has a gift for using a subtle way with words of phrase to create a twist of humor or invite comparison. Her style is both clever and especially suited to this very contemporary story. Occasionally she goes completely off the rails with rather impossible analogies; they slow the story-line down, but they are infrequent. Other areas, from menus and cooking to the old cobblestones of the plazas, situate us in the heart of Italy absolutely perfectly.

Overall, its the characters that keep us glued to this one. To Rome With Love will be appreciated by fans of a range of genres.

Aleksei is an ancient Carpathian and Ms. Feehan created her hero to be as deadly, dark and commanding as any she’s introduced readers to yet. The one element that is insidiously sensual is his dominance. All Carpathian men are control freaks due to their living in the time when men were warriors, but the author takes the hero to a new level. At first it is an extremely uncomfortable level especially when Gabrielle and Aleksei first meet. He’s wild, untamed, violent and uncontrollable. Fans of the series will understand what drives him and will more than probably accept his behavior with the understanding that he’s overwhelmed emotionally by all the feelings that bombard him all at once. Once the hero calms down and is able to listen, he slowly starts to figure out he was partly wrong. Never totally wrong, mind you, but certainly some.

Gabrielle is a hard heroine to completely like. She has her moments and I believe and agree with Aleksei’s understanding of her; she’s a submissive. How that revelation comes about needs to be read to understand why I agree. Submissive doesn’t mean ‘doormat’, it means she needs someone to lean on when she needs it and needs–here’s the big thing–to trust that the person will deliver, will be there for her and will understand her needs. When the heroine’s strength has to be counted upon, she comes through. Her character flowers under Aleksei’s care because he truly does ‘get’ her. One scene even dabbles with a little bit of light BDSM hence the mention of Gabrielle’s being submissive. I just didn’t like all the crying she did.

The flowering, so-to-speak comes from sex; lots of sex. I think Ms. Feehan basically shows how Gabrielle and Aleksei fall in love, come to terms with and learn about each other, through all the sex scenes that populate the book. In fact there is so much of it, page after page, that I was hard pressed to find an external conflict. There are a few token suspenseful moments but it goes right back to sex. Dark Promise is basically a hot, sexy romance with light paranormal drama to enhance the love story.

For me, what stole the limelight and the show away from the emotional drama that is the Gabrielle and Aleksei show was Trixie. When Trixie meets Fane, it was pure magic. I’m not sure how to describe their meeting but it was more romantic, fun and enjoyable than the main hero and heroine. I adored Trixie. I liked her sass, her moral compass and her dedication to family. I was thrilled with how Fane treated her, thought of her and talked with her. I felt happy, completely happy when they were on stage. As secondary characters finding their HEA, Ms. Feehan presented a winning combo. Fane and Trixie rock!

The book winds down with hooks for new books, new characters and Carpathian men to save. Certainly I want to read them because I never know just how the author is going to save the hero and what kind of woman is up to the job of taming her caveman Carpathian. That’s half the fun of this series – old fashioned warrior men versus strong-willed modern women.

Dark Promises does have a satisfying happy ever after and tells a good romance story. Many fans will enjoy it and for those that just love the sexy side of a Carpathian romance, those readers are probably going to be extremely happy.

I found this to be a fun, interesting read. I loved Ian’s unorthodox method for summoning the demon and was really intrigued by the fresh approach. This story is in the first person, so it was a great view into Ian’s mindset but also his intent – and this made the story really appealing to me. I liked knowing exactly where Ian was coming from and it helped me feel more connected to him as a character. The fact his intentions were mostly pure (insult and temper as opposed to nefarious reasons for wanting to summon a demon) made this a unique read for me.

A part of me wondered why Ian didn’t think ahead about what he’d do with the demon or how he’d dismiss it – just because one is simple to summon doesn’t necessarily make it easy to get rid of. But aside from this logical plothole I felt the rest of the story held together really well. I was slightly confused as to why “he” was written throughout the story as “ze” and “zir” – I feel there must be some world-building reason behind these different terms, but it wasn’t explained and so I remained baffled throughout the story. While it jarred me a lot, Ian, Jae and their incubus kept me entertained enough I eventually just glossed over the oddness of this section of the writing. I really would have appreciated an explanation to that though.

The sex was explicit but I personally found it hot and intriguing. Readers who don’t like M/M will want to steer clear of this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed the sexy scenes. There’s a small element of BDSM in it – consensual pain and a steamy hot threesome. There is a very satisfied – and happy – ending and I thoroughly enjoyed the antics of Jae, Ian and their sexy incubus.

A fun, lighthearted and steamily sexy read that I truly enjoyed.

Proximity, mutual need, and a little white lie is one explanation for the attraction between Brett and Trisha, off the charts chemistry that had to be banked while they served together is another. After reading this novel, I’m firmly in the chemistry corner. Such a fun read and yet it had a poignant underlying story.

One thing that stood out for me about this story is that I didn’t want to stop reading to write the review. Normally, I’ll stop and write parts of the review as I’m reading but this one held my attention so well, I actually had to force myself to pull away at certain moments and write down my thoughts. The story flows quite smoothly and I so enjoyed watching Brett and Trisha fight their attraction, only to lose over and over again. They meant well but, it’s practically impossible to fight what two hearts want.

Both Trisha and Brett are former Marines who served their country honorably. That earned them lots of cred from the beginning. Then I started learning about what exactly Trisha did while serving and how it’s affected her since separating. I wanted her to not only find what she needed to heal at Royal Pines but it was just one more reason to cheer for her HEA with Brett.

That Brett, he’s a charmer and a stinker. The primary plot of this story is based on a prank retaliation. The first book in this series, Cowboy Fiance, details how Brett pranked his twin brother. Cowboy Payback is simply that, Finn strikes backs…and how! I haven’t read the first book but I will and very soon.

There’s another story in there for Trisha’s brother, Liam. He just needs to meet the right woman or maybe he’s already met her if the stilted greeting between him and the Activity Director for Royal Pines is any indication. That’s going to be a good book!

Readers who want a fulfilling romance that meshes two incredibly sexy character types, cowboys and military, will gobble this series up. It’s one I plan to follow as well as checking out Ms. Michaels backlist. If her other stories are as well written, with characters that have me falling in love right along side them, then that’s an author I can follow.

Escaping for some air, she meets Nik, and is sorely tempted to ditch the festivities for something far more interesting. Good sense, and loyalty to the bride, holds her back, but once duty is done Janny is more than ready to let off some steam with the handsome biker.

This is a wonderful, family-orientated story that I greatly enjoyed. Sexy and fun I couldn’t help chuckling a number of times throughout the book. The two families are huge and the author has done a wonderful job keeping all the characters as individuals and as the wedding is a major plot-point everyone has come together and there’s plenty of fun, frivolity and fireworks. I loved watching everyone clash and reunite, but central to it all Janny and Nik and the explosive chemistry they provide kept me fanning myself and eagerly turning the pages.

I was a little surprised at the hot role-play style sex scene Janny and Nik indulged in. Usually that sort of thing doesn’t work well for me but the author did an excellent job and I found it seriously steamy. I’m not sure it will be every reader’s cup of tea – Janny and Nik didn’t slip “out of character” much in their fantasy role-play so it would be quite easy for a reader to take their actions and discussions seriously. But personally I found it added to the spice of the story and I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot. There are plenty of plot twists – nothing is ever more complicated than family! – and I thought there was plenty of interesting turns to spice up the lovely story of Janny and Nik coming together.

A fun story with heaps of interesting characters and a great read I thoroughly enjoyed.

The chemistry between Meeka and Izzy was excellent. It was the first thing that caught my attention in the opening scene, and it only grew stronger over time. I also liked the fact that they’d been friends for so long before the events of this story began. It added layers of trust and comfort to their flirtations that only made later scenes sexier than they might have been otherwise.

With that being said, their relationship moved far too quickly. Based on certain things the main character said about her friend as well as how hesitant she was in the beginning, I would have expected them to be more cautious than they were about stepping past the platonic boundaries of their friendship. While I definitely wanted to see them take this step, I would have liked to see things unfold slowly instead.

The dialogue was well done. Meeka and Izzy both had unique ways of talking that I quickly picked up on. It was fun to know who was speaking long before the narrator could confirm my guesses. This was only possible because of all of the work the author put into making these two characters so individualized. I really appreciated all of the effort Ms. Cardui clearly spent on this part of the storyline.

I’d recommend She’s With Me to anyone who is in the mood for something racy.

There’s a complete story that starts and finishes within these 400 pages but I can’t imagine not wanting to understand where it began so, I’d suggest reading Scandal first.

Connor Sparks left an indelible mark on this reader at the end of book one and I needed to see him redeemed. Lexi Blake loves a tortured hero and Connor fits the bill nicely. His background story sprinkled in throughout this book and the little taste of his youth at the beginning all meld together to make him someone I wanted to see happy. But could this hard core, kill ’em if I can’t use ’em, never let them see you vulnerable, Agency man find happiness, more importantly peace, with a tree-hugging vegan? I had my doubts but I should know better by know.

Lara Armstrong wants to save the world one tree full of squirrels and one tasty cow at a time. She doesn’t find them tasty but Connor sure does and so does her fugly (Connor’s word) dog. I liked Lincoln, he may be a shivering mess but he brought some necessary comedic relief to what could have been a really dark story otherwise. I liked Lara, too and she does end up being exactly what Connor needed. He gravitated to her light and didn’t even realize it at first.

The book flows smoothly and easily sets up the next in the series, Big Easy Temptation. This mystery just keeps taking on new layers and new players. I started trying to make guesses but there’s no way to know the direction it’ll ultimately take. So many paths!

Readers who want a healthy dose of intrigue with their redeeming romance should run, don’t walk, to the nearest retailer and get in on this series. The heroines are the right mixture of tough but tender and the men are the perfect combination of protective and push-over (not that they’ll ever admit that but, the women know). Bottom line, well worth the read and another fantastic series from these brilliant story tellers.
