Will You Be Tempted? Will Love Save Your Soul?

One nation under his reign.

Cardinal sins of man caused humanity to pay the price. Cali Nasser grew up in a world succeeding World War III. The aftermath forced the world dictatorship that she must now live in. A new Regime arose from the ashes. They demanded obedience and cooperation from every citizen, even in matters of the heart.

One domain … One accord … One nation. That is the moral code. In Cali’s eyes, it all revolves around a twisted plot for control.

You shall ask all manner of questions buy levitra viagra that you need to have the urge for the love-making. A woman’s sexuality is an viagra no prescription important element of her physical, perceptive, emotional and social well-being. Although it is not a direct threat to the life of the disease, but seriously affect the quality of life of cost of viagra pill the patients. The reliable online drug stores supply only branded genuine overnight generic cialis medicines to their customers. It used to sicken Cali how people would allow the Regime to test their love through the Temptation Trials. That is, until she met Kincade. Cali’s entire point of view changes when she falls for him. She struggles with herself, debating if she should challenge the government’s law of arranged marriage.

Cali’s childhood friend, Stefani, always kept a positive perspective about their lives until she was threatened with the same dilemma, at odds over the man she loves.

Now Cali and Stefani face a desperate choice—submit to the Regime’s will, or fight for what they value most—love. Although lust, mistaken for love, could lead to damnation. Do they give up on love or sign up for the Temptation Trials, a reality TV show where every temptation is laid before them?

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Can love save their souls?

An interesting premise … sort of “The Bachelor” meets “Temptation Island” with a touch of the Hunger Games.

Set in our future, post-WWIII, there is a all-powerful leader who’s set down a number of rules in order to maintain order and control. One of these rules involves who you can marry. No one gets to marry for love anymore, but all marriages are assigned based on assumed compatibility. However, if you think you’re in love with someone, you can marry them if you make it through the Temptation Trials.

Cleanly written, the story certainly has an interesting premise. I liked our heroines (and heroes, though we don’t see them as much once the trials start — the story is told through alternating POV of two heroines) and admired their determination to do what they thought was right. But weeks in the company of other men, being forced into dating several of them and then having to choose one to spend the last part of the trials with … it’s more than most people would be able to resist. Our ladies are no exception.

I did find the story a little sparsely written … the author seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to get from place to place, and some description was lacking. Also, though there weren’t overt grammar errors or typos, there’s more to good editing than that. The story had a bit too much “telling” instead of “showing” and I don’t think a character ever “said” anything. It was blurted, screamed, announced, shouted, pointed out, etc. I have to admit it drove me a little nuts, but it may not be the same for you.

That said, though, I definitely got caught up in the characters. There are quite a few to keep track of, but their names and personalities are unique enough it’s not too hard. There is lots of sex talk and plenty of sexual action (not all intercourse) but this isn’t surprising. The idea of the trials is to show people that love isn’t true and they should fall in with the ruler’s decisions.

There is some mystery involved as well, and the story ends in a cliffhanger, so be warned. However, if you’re looking for a smoking hot, futuristic story to sink your teeth into, this one is a decent choice for you. I’d read the second one, if only to find out who ends up with who!

Seven years earlier he rejected her love for a life at sea. As he rescues her he gets involved in a treason plot that will bring the war to their beloved shores of England. As he unravels the plot he is unable to deny his desire for her. Is he too late in saving her and the love he has for her?

This story starts with a storm and I was quickly caught in it. Thorn, the hero, was strong, brave and sexy. Ivy was strong-willed, endearing and beautiful. Together they made the pages steamy. There was nothing about them that was unappealing.

I find it hard to believe that this is Laura A. Barnes’ first novel. Her writing style needs to be recognized. I’m not a writer so perhaps what I was drawn to was a certain, well-used technique so forgive me if it is and my ignorance, however, I’ve never read a book that was written like this. The hero would have an internal dialogue while looking into the heroine eyes and based on her mannerisms, could guess or wonder what she was thinking or feeling. It left me wondering if his assumptions were correct. Immediately the author would continue with the heroine answering his unasked questions. It gave me the feeling that the hero and heroine were so connected mind, body and soul; it was as if they could almost read each other’s minds. Another aspect I enjoyed was the incorporation of a significant poem into the love story that uses their names in a clever pun, and I can’t forget to mention the name of his ship. I applaud this book’s writing style!

The plot was masterly planned and executed with a steady and smooth pace. It was impossible to put the book down because the treason and romance plot kept evolving on each page.

While Thorn and Ivy achieved their happily ever after, I was left wondering if there will be a book two with Charles, Ivy’s brother, and Raina LeClair, a lady who had a part in the unsolved treason plot. There needs to be a book two for Charles to complete his mission! I have a couple of other questions but without spoiling Rescued By the Captain, all I can say is that there needs to be a book two so that readers can be at peace regarding Ivy’s safety. If there isn’t going to be a book two, I’ll be crushed! I need total closure!

Other than a serious craving for more, this was an excellent romance story that was very entertaining. The characters are well developed and I feel like I inherited another “book family”. I’ll be thinking about Ivy and Thorn and wishing them the best in their future!

If We Had No Winter is a gritty coming-of-age tale about loss, love, and learning to try again.

College is a time of exploration and learning about one’s self and the world; Billie Dixon is about to meet these challenges head on.

Billie struggles with her shattered family life and with her first year college classes at Bradford College, where her estranged father is the head of the Math Department-which happens to be the major that Billie is interested in. The good news is that Jimmy, Billie’s best friend from school, is in the dorm room across the hall from her. Unfortunately, the bad news is that Billie can’t stand his roommate Xander. Billie is focused on academics and lets out her frustration in the form of artwork, but this becomes problematic when a student Billie begins to tutor has a romantic interest in her. Still, there is the issue of her difficult relationship with her father.

If We Had No Winter is a strong story that looks at the home we leave when we go to college, the life we want to make, and then what happens when everything comes crashing down. Billie is a relatable character that has her own passions, concerns, challenges to social acceptance and from time to time, even severe difficulty connecting socially with those around her. The first person perspective is fantastic to give the reader a glimpse inside the head of a girl that on the outside has everything figured out-but on the inside is struggling to keep it together.

The character dialogue flows smoothly and Billie’s social awkwardness is understandable. The actions from main characters to supporting characters is relatable for the reader and the plot is deep. The focus does not always rest on relationships or family ties, but the author blends everything together to make it “real life” and believable.

Near the end of the story, a dramatic turn occurs which is completely unexpected. This turn ties everything together and we see a side of Billie that is both unexpected and deeply real. The reader is then tasked with wondering “what would I have done?” as Billie’s actions play out.

Be sure not to miss If We Had No Winter-this deep story will be sure to make a personal connection that you will not easily forget!

But the Nox Incendi shifters aren’t the only one with secrets in Sin City. Piper will have to open her eyes to a strange new world and Rave will have to open his heart if they want to survive the dragon fever.

Oooh, I just discovered a new tortured dragon shifter hero with a story full of challenges, a race against time and some surprising twists to snare a reader’s interest and keep it. I also liked the heroine who not only proved everyone wrong by making something of herself, but cared enough for those she calls friends to go the extra mile when she suspects they’re in trouble. In fact, both Rave and Piper are willing to sacrifice themselves to a greater good out of love and loyalty. But what if they have to sacrifice each other to accomplish it? That’s one of the enticing lures that had me flipping the pages at a furious pace.

The romance between Rave and Piper starts off slow because the Ms. Jade has to world build in such a way as to engage a reader not only with the main characters but with the supporting cast that may or may not play pivotal roles in future books. Once the stage is set, then the sizzling attraction explodes, the romance begins and the mystery teases until it reaches a dramatic and suspenseful summit.

Esme and Anjali are Piper’s friends and although they do play pivotal roles in the tale, I didn’t feel empathy or a connection to them. It was surface only with enough to make a reader understand why perhaps the heroine loved them and would go to the lengths she does to find out what’s going on and to help if she could.

I enjoyed the dialogue and the descriptions of Rave’s lair. It sounded really romantic! I even enjoyed meeting the hero’s cousin, Torch. I liked his attitude. I even appreciated the conflict because it pushed the hero and heroine into making difficult choices. I suspect those choices will have a ripple effect. I say that because even though the main conflict that tried to tear Piper and Rave from each other is defeated, the overall villainous streak is still out there – it’s well funded, determined and, I believe based on some dialogue, truly evil. But who will be next in the crosshairs?

Dragon Fever is a full-bodied romance filled with love and, the best part, sexy, hunky dragons. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a paranormal dragon story that presented characters I enjoyed getting to know in a world I liked visiting. This book has it all including a fun and satisfying happy ever after for Piper and Rave.

Undeterred by the harsh realities of her upbringing, Trudy’s artistic soul demands she capture all the wonders of the world in her camera lens. When a grumpy, reclusive mountain man saves her from an early-spring snowstorm, she realizes there’s more to his humped and hairy shyness than meets the eye.

He doesn’t believe she can see past his ugliness, but she won’t let him hide from a love that burns true in the heart of the beholder.

Beast starts off with a damsel in distress but Trudy is too determined and stubborn to give up even though the odds are alarmingly against her. Her inarticulate cry for help was heard by a loner, a man/bear who has been hurt mentally and physically to such an extreme he’s broken. Cianán isn’t so lost in his pain that he can’t recognize when someone else is in pain too. He’s compelled to seek out and deal with the hurt intruder as soon as possible and get them to a place where someone else will surely find them and help them out. All Cianán wants is to be left alone. He can’t hurt anyone and no one can hurt him ever again as long as he stays deep in the woods. A haunted man with his bees for company, all he wants is peace, is that too much to ask? It is when fate decides to step in with a different solution in mind. Bear and woman meet and what follows is a romance story unique to the world in which Angels Rest exists, where anything is possible and dreams come true. A reader is in store for some delightful surprises when they read Beast.

One of the things that impressed me about this story is the detail about Cianán while in the state of in between. While he was in stuck as a man/bear, the things he did, said, acted and felt were so solid, I never lost sight that he wasn’t fully a man; the effect of being part bear affected so many scenes they provided a special flavor to the storytelling environment.

The dialogue between Trudy and the hero was oftentimes hilarious, insightful or intriguing and always fascinating. I found the scene with Trudy’s first morning cup of coffee totally adorable. Their dialogue and special moments keep mounting up because their proximity ends up acting like a sensual and romantic courtship. The pressure builds until all that sexual tension finally gets released. Ice cubes may be needed for a few of them.

Romance can’t happen in a vacuum so eventually the reason that Trudy was alone in the wilderness comes to haunt her and Cianán. This is when the hero both proves his mettle and faces the risk of losing the heroine when he reveals who and what he really is. The suspense was just the right amount to keep the tension heightened and me rooting for the hero to win and save the day.

Beast is a treat. I adored Cianán’s character and am so happy for him. I really enjoyed the HEA wrap up and how the author tied up all the threads. This novella is a treat and one more that joins my other favorite stories in the Angels Rest series. I’m such a fan!

This story is fascinating. It has the action and adventure of dragons who have a peaceful nature until roused. Unfortunately, a female dragon has marked Kord as her own and Lily’s abrupt arrival upsets her plans. With the help of another male she plans to dispose of Lily, take Kord as her own, and kill Kord’s parents to enable him to become King of Battle Draconian.

The plots that interweave in this story make it very exciting and alluring. I read it in one go as I couldn’t put it down, partly due to the fact I love dragon stories. This was not a straightforward “dragons are strong beasts so Lily was bound to fall for Kord” it was about the life of dragons, how they lived and the social mores which kept the three dragon kingdoms apart but in tune with each other. This is very well written and a joy to read.

There’s a mix-up, there are secrets that must be kept, there’s an unexpected villain and a stubborn heroine. It’s a concept that has been done before, but Ms. Jade added her own unique spin making this quite the entertaining read.

I liked the hero, Sin. He possesses amazing willpower when it comes to respecting Zoe’s moratorium against her becoming his mate. A reader knows just how much he really would like her to change her mind but she’s adamant that it’s a no-go. What the heroine did not count on was their amazing sexual chemistry. What Sin didn’t expect was the effect that amazing chemistry had on his body. Something has to give and the outside conflict certainly played a role in shaking things up.

It’s been a long while since I’ve read a sci-fi romance and I think it’s because of the very thing I encountered in this book – the strange names given to objects and people. I realize that with sci-fi an author can really create their own worlds and rules within that world building however there is a challenge to keep a reader invested in the people of the story without getting lost in the ‘special effects’. For the most part Ms. Jade does a solid job at accomplishing that, but every now and again the unfamiliarity threw me out of the story. Good thing Zoe and Sin are so fascinating – their budding romance drew me right back in.

Another reason to like a sci-fi romance is the inventive and intriguing ways having sex with an alien can come about. They’re not like us and those differences pose all kinds of delicious opportunities. What happens to Sin truly made me grin.

Secondary characters are Zoe’s sister in law and a couple of Sin’s crew members, Honey and Ivan. I like Honey a lot because of his sassy dialogue. I think all of their personalities contributed to the robustness of the tale.

Alpha Star sure was interesting. The happy ever after was as romantic as I could wish and I was so happy when Zoe finally came to her senses. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll blame her reticence on that fateful brick. For fans of sci-fi romance, I’d say give Alpha Star a shot. I did and I enjoyed it.

A doubter will believe, a warrior will rise, and passion will rule the day.

Every now and again a book’s character surprises me. This is one of them. Most of the paranormal beings so far have been wolves but in Warrior there’s a new one in town and he’s a first. I’ve never read about his kind before in romance books and I am duly impressed.

Unfortunately for them but not for me, the external conflict continues from the Kingdom Guard. I didn’t expect the way in which it manifested and it was very suspenseful with lots of drama. I liked when the ‘troops’, the werewolves of Angels Rest, come together to try to rescue the heroine. Especially since the heroine is Elizabeth, the hippie, tarot-reading, sweet aunt of Darling from Rogue. She’s not a fighter but that doesn’t mean she’s not brave. She is.

Thunder is truly a yummy hero. It might have a lot to do with how Ms. Jade created his character. I enjoyed all the scenes with his motorcycle because of how they were written. I also felt for the guy because he is so alone. He has honor, loyalty and crazy skills but he’s a loner, a drifter that goes around helping people when they need it without belonging anywhere. I was so pleased that he found an anchor in the community of Angels Rest. That, of course, has a lot to do with the heroine.

Like the previous three in the series, when Thunder and Bets, as he likes to call her, get together physically, it’s detailed, sexy, steamy hot and well written. What I appreciate about the sexy scenes is that the story is not thin as an excuse for sex. Nope, it’s to showcase just how combustible the hero and heroine are together, and to show just how vested they both are to each other’s safety because they are falling in love. It’s a solid romance with a wonderful conflict and challenge to overcome. At one point the emotions inspired by the conflict was intense. I was glued to the pages.

Even though this is a novella, Ms. Jade continues the series with the skill of a master by delivering a full-bodied, thoroughly satisfying solid romance story that reads like a full-sized novel. There are gems of dialogue and descriptions sprinkled all through the tale and many are pure word magic.

At the end of the book there is a tidbit about the next book in the series and I simply have to have it. Why? Because it’s about one of the victims of the Kingdom Guard. What they did to him was heinous. So how and who can heal him is the a very effective hook. Consider the book bought.

Warrior is another winner and a must read. I am loving this series so hard it’s awesome. The quality of the writing remains solid, even in this fourth installment. So far this series has rocked my world and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Wolf shifters and hunters have always been mortal enemies. But under the hungry light of the mating moon, they might be lovers too.

I hoped that this next story in the series after Hero was going to be good and all my hopes were realized. This novella is just as powerful, well written and entertaining as the first book. Joker picks up where the first book left off – with the captured assassin. The suspense and drama is more prevalent in this one and I enjoyed every surprise, shock and revelation.

Once again, there is a strong hero, Bastien, and a heroine worthy of him, Leela. In this story the emotional factor is through the roof. I guess I refer to the brave stand towards the end that had unexpected consequences. My heart was in my throat. Everything that happened in the novella built up to that final climactic and intense chapter that had me biting a nail, or two.

Before the serious wrap up there was all the turmoil of a werewolf falling in love with the hunter that had set out to kill him and his kind. I enjoyed how Ms. Jade made it all work out. Once again there is the mysticism of Mesa Diablo that enhances the believability factor that love can happen that fast if it’s meant to be. The romance is strong and wonderful.

Ms. Jade continues to wow me with her choice of descriptives. They provide a flavor and presence unique to the main characters and their romance. I enjoyed their dialogue, their interaction between family members and townsfolk and their pack. It all worked for me.

Joker is a wonderful romance. This short story is rich in substance and brilliant in its ability to embrace all the aspects a reader seeks in a great romance story. Yes, the sexual build up between Bas and Leela was hot, their coming together was hotter, but what I found incredibly sexy was what the hero revealed to Leela. Joker is delightful and not to be missed.
