However, his attitude leads to the odd funny moment, and readers that just begin to think this is too formulaic will enjoy these unexpected moments.

There is an attraction – the expected romance-chemistry splashes into their relationship at just the right moment – and possibly slightly too perfectly. However, there are light moments, and the humor really works here. Garrett becomes more human as we go: his pursuit of perfection is nothing to how he loves his car. The story improves immeasurably as we bump into some of his thoughts (‘the woman is too cheerful!’) Moments like that really make this story.

Her Boss By Arrangement is not really a page turner, but is very readable. Although the main plot is predictable, it is amusing and it’s a good nightstand book for when you need a few minutes distraction.

The scenes about skiing, snowmobiling and trudging through the white drifts were well described and made me feel like I was there. It even almost made me look forward to winter again – almost.

Tyler was an interesting character. He was a man driven to excel, to succeed and to push himself to the limit in the skill of competitive skiing. In a few seconds, an accident on a ski run took it all away. This book explores the journey of the hero coming to terms with his new reality and Tyler isn’t taking it too well. Enter a pivotal secondary character – his daughter, Jess. Their relationship provided many moments of reflection, emotion, hilarity, tender words and love between father and daughter. It was heart warming, rocky, quirky and a work in progress. I enjoyed the scenes of them together.

The thing Tyler and Jess both agree on is how wonderful Brenna Daniels is, for obviously different reasons. Thing is, Brenna has loved Tyler all her life but he’s absolutely clueless. I liked how the heroine was depicted. She tried to live her life the best she could, resigning herself to unrequited love. Not only does she have to struggle to act like she doesn’t care but she has a strained relationship with her parents. When Ms. Morgan was ready to share it, imagine my surprise as to the reason. It was rather shocking. Not only did it make things so much clearer, it had its own happy ever after finale and I was very touched.

Even though most of the conflict is internal there is one external conflict that has been bubbling under the surface for a while. This is where Ms. Morgan shines – she takes a subject that has deep and possibly tragic lifetime repercussions and explores how a person can heal and rise above the pain. I speak of being bullied in school. The author handled the conflict with care and the scenes that dealt with it were examples of powerful writing. I couldn’t help but be emotionally engaged in the telling and the author showed just how heart wrenching it can be but also provided readers with a twist. The heroine realizes a shocking truth and it stunned me. Ms. Morgan, through her heroine, shows how empowering being able to forgive can be. I respected the heck out of Brenna at that moment.

No spicy romance would be complete without the hero and heroine finally succumbing to their built up passions. It doesn’t get any more romantic that this. Ms. Morgan certainly satisfies a reader on that score. Of course, Tyler initially bumbled it. That made great conflict because at that point he was still trying to reconcile the possibilities with his fears. Eventually, after an ultimatum that shocked him to his toes, Tyler does what he does best – focuses and lets nothing stop him from succeeding. The resulting scene practically melted my heart. This series ends with the ultimate in romantic settings and dialogue and scenes that made me say, “Awwww!”

Maybe This Christmas is filled with warmth, joy and love. This novel is filled with lessons learned, yearnings fulfilled and adorable dogs frolicking among its pages. It’s a story I’m adding to my keeper shelf to reread when I need a boost of “feel good’ to brighten my day. It’s that kind of book and worth recommending to romance readers everywhere. The first book in a series can be difficult because the author has to introduce the main characters, future characters and weave a story in there too. In this case there were just too many threads and the story was “too busy”. Other than acknowledging to themselves there was an attraction to one another, the first half of the book pretty much left romance out of the equation. In fact, I couldn’t see how this was going to work when Jessa was trying to prove Cooper’s mother was a murderer and Cooper was trying to take Jessa’s son away on top one more major issue that brings them both to the breaking point. So, by the time the pair act upon the attraction it felt forced and the chemistry was flat.

The other issue I had was a storyline I felt had a lot of potential, and at first I thought it was going to be the main thread, stayed in the background and it was never resolved. It simply fizzled into nothingness. Now in all fairness, this is a series romance and we will be visiting some of these characters again in the future, so it is very possible this particular thread will play out over time and finally get resolved.

The action starts up very quickly and the story moves along at a good clip which kept me interested. The no win situation involving Liam was very emotional and I struggled to stay neutral and avoid taking sides. I could not imagine having to turn over the child I raised as my own and thought I had legal custody of. I also couldn’t imagine losing a child and then realizing this child could still be alive. Cooper had every right to explore that possibility and if he was the father he had legal rights to his child. But, wow, what a sticky situation and I had to wonder what would be the best thing for Liam in the long run.

The suspense level reached a fever pitch in the last few chapters. It was nail biting , edge of your seat action and chock full of big reveals and super nasty bad guys. This also brought down the gauntlet between Cooper and Jessa. Faced with the prospect of losing Liam and Jessa, Cooper realized what really mattered most in life and no matter what he wanted to be with Jessa and Liam. The other theme the book explored was strong family ties and the support system a family offers us when we are going through hard and confusing times in our lives.

Although there were some rocky moments here and there I enjoyed this book and found it entertaining. I will certainly look out for the upcoming chapters in this series. I’m looking forward to getting to know Cooper’s brothers and exploring the McKinnon family dynamic. It should make for some interesting reading. The most important thing is this book did leave me with a smile on my face and a feeling that things worked out for the good of everyone involved.

It’s really sweet, but sometimes we don’t want them to fix things for us. Dominic wanted to see a broken family come together but, he also had some doubts about Lara he needed to put to rest. So, I could see this playing out in real life and that made the story more emotional. A wonderful story of true love, adults growing up emotionally, compromising, and accepting life’s curve balls, building bridges , family bonds , and of course true love. Well done!

Elena easily falls for the kindness Khalil shows her and after they get lost in the desert things get even more complicated.

I enjoyed Khalil. He’s a gruff alpha male and while he feels a bit bad that he’s ruined Elena’s plans, he goes out of his way to get her to realize that she doesn’t need a consort in order to rule her country. I love that he went out his way to build up her self-confidence.

These two together were very sexy, and the chemistry is off the charts. The author does a great job of bringing the desert nomad life alive on the page. I found myself imagining the heat and the sand.

This story had everything I’ve come to love in Sheikh stories, a brooding male, a strong but innocent female, and an exotic backdrop for it all. I highly recommend this for fans of Sheikh love stories.

The Return of the Rebel is second chance story told from the POV of both main characters. The characters are likable, although I preferred Cleo over Jax. Cleo is much stronger character than Jax. She knows how to take things into her own hands in order to get their happy-end. I expected that Jax would be more alpha rebel, but actually he was just a boy from the wrong side of the tracks.

The story is interesting and it flows nicely and both characters change and grow by the end of it and all issues raised are resolved nicely. It contains a bit of suspense but it is not romantic suspense novel.

The Return of the Rebel is great summer read.

Yvette is just as head over heels over Cannon as she ever was, but she has to realize that her youth-like love for him in the past has indeed matured into an adult love and it’s real. The only thing stopping her from enjoying and exploring it, is her own hang-ups. They’re a pretty big stumbling block to the romance which is why Cannon has to have such a deep well of patience and perseverance to draw from.

The internal conflict for Yvette was understandable and I could buy into its effect on her life and her choices in life. The external conflicts however, are not unique in any way. I cringed every time she ‘ignored’ Heath and face palmed when she said she ‘handled or could handle’ him. I rolled my eyes a lot too. With all the advancements and warnings over the last twenty years or so and readily available advice about those kinds of ‘relationships’, Yvette’s handling of the situation left much to be desired. The other secondary external conflict was also predictable. It was so blatant, I was flabbergasted that Cannon, of all people, couldn’t guess it for himself much earlier in the book. Despite all of the clichés, it still provided many interesting twists and turns for their relationship and entertaining dialogue and action to keep things interesting.

Secondary characters were definitely a plus in this story. There’s a lot of world building going on to introduce the future heroes in the series and preparation for a reader to understand how they all are interwoven in their lives. It was fun.

The romance, when it was finally allowed to blossom into the fiery passion I knew they were capable of, was awesome and well worth the wait.

No Limits is great entertainment. I was happy to see Cannon and Yvette get their happy ever after and I enjoyed meeting all the new guys with their quirks and unique personalities. I had fun reading this story and I’m sure fans will be jumping for joy when they get to read this novel for themselves. There’s a lot to like within its pages.

I mentioned it above, but the central theme of this book is family being important and it’s true. Ms Roberts has penned a book about love, relationships and how your family will always be with you no matter what.

I liked this book. The writing flows well, although there are a lot of characters to keep track of. Granted, in a family of three sisters, with beaus to go around, there will be quite a cast of characters. Once I got into the book, keeping everyone straight got a lot easier. The more I read, the more I wanted. I wanted to know what would happen with all of the characters, because even if I didn’t like them on one page, by the next I liked them again.

Cecily was my favorite. She’s got a boat load of troubles. She thinks she likes one guy, but kind of likes another, too. She’s easy for the reader to relate to because I could see a lot of me in her. She struggles with her decisions and not upsetting her family. Easy to understand.

I also liked Todd. Whether he’s the one for Cecily aside, he tries so hard. Gotta give him credit for that. He wants to make her happy, even if he’s less than happy. He’s endearing.

In the end, the book works and that’s what matters the most.

If you want a book that’s heavy on heart and family, then this might be the book for you.

Secrets. I love secrets…well in books, anyway. However, this secret is a really sad one and it’s a cross Carly has had to bear all alone for the last three years. She has loudly and proudly proclaimed that marriage and children are not for her. Part of her bold statement stems from her mother’s abandonment of her family and a large part of it has to do with Luke. Luke is now the head guy at the ranch and is trying to raise his two year old daughter alone, so as much as he might want Carly he couldn’t bring a woman into his life that didn’t want a family. The situation with Carly’s mom is one that has haunted her for years and she just wants to find her mother and perhaps gain a little peace. Understandable, but Carly’s problems really need to be addressed from within before she tackles that can of worms. Years of misunderstandings and pain are brought into focus and now as adults Luke and Carly have the chance to put the past into perspective and have a second change at love.

Now, if you have read romance novels to any extent you will have figured out this familiar trope. However this one does have a little twist in there which gives the theme an entirely different twist.

So, while the formula is a tried and true, I found it to be an enjoyable enough read, despite a slight amount of predictability. There were some real heart tugging moments and it was just a little angsty. Luke and Carly were more mature and adult than Carly’s crusty and interfering father. I’m still not sure how I feel about him. I could relate to Luke and to Carly. There are always two sides to a story. I think we can all relate to mistakes in our youth. That is part of the appeal of the second chance at love theme. When two people who were meant to be together beat the odds stacked against them, it’s always a feel good story.

Élise and Sean made a wonderful couple because they both thought each other perfect. The irony was that they truly were perfect, but not in the way either one expected, believed or wanted. Each character took turns suffering emotional blows that knocked them on their keisters and had them rethinking everything they believed to be true. The author had one common thread woven between the two main characters – the effect of assumptions. Élise and Sean were full of them.

Suddenly Last Summer picks up where the hints in Sleigh Bells in the Snow left off. I recognized a wonderful hook when I saw one so was thrilled to see Sean and Élise’s story come to life. The wait was worth it. This book is a solid standalone story and well worth checking out.

Sean also suffers from guilt, but with him, the author added anger and resentment and a bit of self-centered emotional withdrawal. Ms. Morgan not only had the daunting task of figuring out how to make her characters face their guilt, understand their human failings and learn how to open up and forgive but she also had to make it interesting, fun and worth reading. She succeeded on all counts.

With the heroine, I loved how the author fleshed her out by using her dialogue – using her first language, French, and mixing up the two. It was at times humorous, but many times it acted as a clue. A clue that Sean picked up on many times throughout the book to an effective degree which in turn helped me understand Élise as well. It was a clever technique and I think it worked really well in the story.

Sean had a chance to be a hero in the truest sense of the word. I liked how the author had him dealing with it because it proved to his family that his calling was real, important and meaningful. The surprise comes from his discovering what they really thought which wasn’t what he thought which made him question other things he thought he knew. I love that kind of mired twist – it made Sean that much more interesting as a man, a friend, a brother and a lover.

I got to see the grandfather again and wouldn’t you know it, the author made me go ‘awwww’ all over again. He really is a prickly marshmallow.

The emotional secrets were pretty heavy in this story and made for good plot conflict. The constant allusion to Élise’s big secret got to be a little overused at one point; I’m not sure if it was the delivery or the verbiage but I was very glad when she finally revealed it. The constant hints and references were getting tedious. Once voiced, it was no longer a thorn in my brain and I could enjoy the fallout that rippled through the rest of the book.

Once again Ms. Morgan teased me with that flash of red. Something tells me the next book is going to a bit more intense and problematic for the hero in that story. There’s going to be three hearts affected and although I expect it to be emotional, it will be well worth it. All the brothers deserve their happy ever after and so far, I’m loving this series hard.

I was not disappointed with any of the scenes that had Élise and Sean together, especially when passion blew their minds and they lost control. It was hot, potent, delightful and effective writing. There was even a bit of humor injected when I least expected it. Just like in real life it made the moment more real, special and fun.

Suddenly Last Summer is a fun read with many surprises in store for a reader. It has a sweet and passionate romance between two characters I was delighted to see get their happy ever after. This is an easy, smooth flowing story that can make an afternoon fly by. The best theme that I found in the whole story is the reminder to tell those people you love that you DO love them. This novel brings that message home effectively and in a fun way. Suddenly Last Summer is a book not to miss.
