The joy of romance, the twists and turns of fate, and laughter at the most unexpected of times are all found in this really fun story by Ms. Hormel. The Convenient Cowboy is the kind of novel to read when you are looking for a plot with heart and characters that can make you smile. I certainly found myself laughing out loud during many parts of this book.

First, this is a character driven romance told from both Spence and Olympia’s point of view. I liked having both their sides revealed because a reader gets a better understanding of how challenging this romance is going to be. Spence wants his son full time and has come up with the perfect plan to get custody; Olympia needs to provide for her younger sister’s education, so both Spence and Olympia join forces in an arranged marriage to achieve their goals. There’s just one problem, the condom broke. And, true to life, the best-laid plans of mice and men oft go awry, so too with the main characters. I adored how Ms. Hormel shared with me her characters’ dreams, hopes and fears and how they came about realizing that everything they truly wanted in life was right in front of them. It’s the getting there that makes this book worth reading. It’s classic romance.

I don’t know if other readers will feel like I did in the first few chapters so I’ll share it just in case. At first, the conflict of Olympia’s internal struggles seem large enough to overshadow the book and I was so afraid that they were going to poison the romance and turn it into a whiny cliché. Let me assure readers that it gets so much better. Once Ms. Hormel gets the setup out of the way, and the players in place, the pace, interest, and entertainment picks up and never stops. The romance between two stubborn people with assumptions and expectations is not without its emotional drama, but once Spence’s young son comes on stage, a reader will get to enjoy a bit of madcap hilarity, like the scene with Petunia. I belly laughed at that part. The reason why I got the biggest kick out of that and other sections of the book, like when Spence kept getting bit by the horse, was because of the power of the words the author used to paint the action for me. It was effective, well done and the results are pure entertainment. It was apparent that this author knows how to craft laughter in literature.

The Convenient Cowboy is engaging, endearing and is simply a fun romance. When I find stories like this, it reminds me of the reason why I read romances in the first place. When people think happiness isn’t in the cards for them and they find it accidentally, it’s extra special and it reinforces that dreams really can come true; fact can mimic fiction. This was a great read and I easily recommend it.

I know when I open a book by Barbara White Daille, I’m in for a great read. This book was no different. It’s a sweet read with wonderful characters and an engaging storyline. I’m glad I got to read it.

Mitch certainly has his work cut out for him. Not only is he in law enforcement, but the woman he has his eye on isn’t wild about his job. But this guy isn’t a pushover. That’s what I liked about him. He wasn’t one to back down, especially when he knew what he wanted. It was sexy and understated.

Then there’s Andi. Oh, boy. She’s got baggage and fears–which made her very relatable–and a little… irksome. Now, this isn’t a bad thing. Have you ever had a friend who you wanted to help, but no matter what you said, she doesn’t always get the message? That’s how I felt about Andi. I could see what she wanted, what her kids needed and what would make her whole. I rooted for her because I could see a lot of my friends and myself in her.

Yes, this book has a Christmas undertone to it, but you don’t have to wait until the holidays to read it. The story carries itself well and the romance will warm up any chilly afternoon.

I’m glad I got to read this book. Recommended.

Every so often I want a book I can enjoy on a chilly winter afternoon. You know, something to be read by the fire. Well, this book doesn’t disappoint. It was perfect for reading when the temperature dipped and actually, reading whenever. The characters in both books are engaging and the writing flows. I’m glad I got this book–both of them,

I loved both stories in this book. First thing, where can I find a Dr. Slade of my own? Janice Lynn has written a hero that’s both sexy and sinful, but a little flawed. I could see him well and wanted to find one of my own. Not kidding. Once I started Slade and Taylor’s story, I couldn’t put it down. The writing flowed and kept my attention well. I was a little sad when it was over. Ms. Lynn, if you revisit these characters, I’m on board to read all about them.

In One Night Before Christmas, I loved that the author included football. Now, I’m more of a stickler for having the sports play a bigger role in the book, if it’s a sports romance, but not in the case of this one. Susan Carlisle had the right amount of romance, sports and medicine in the book. I loved Dalton and Melanie. I totally could see them getting together from the first moment I met them and rooted for them. Like with Janice Lynn’s book, the story flowed well and kept me hooked. I know when I open a Susan Carlisle book, I will be entertained and I certainly was with this story.

If you’re looking for a pair of stories to warm a chilly night, then this twosome might be exactly what you want.

Jenny suddenly finds that Quincy is more than just a good friend. But she’s afraid she’s just rebounding. Quincy is afraid maybe she still loves Paxton. Somebody needed to take them in for a good sit down talk about life. The family tried but we all know how that goes. When Jenny almost loses her dad, it shakes her up. It also shows her who stands by her.

Paxton comes back. This was the best part of the book to me. It’s where everyone finally has to grow up. This is a sweet cowboy romance with a big magic thrown in. It’s a good read.

A mystery wrapped in a mystery but which one leads to the HEA? That’s what I found most intriguing about this novel. The one that involved Lana and Adam is all over the place in the beginning but towards the end, I could see which way it was heading. I didn’t mind the other one not being resolved because I clearly got the picture that there was another case, another hero, who was going to have to deal with it. Adam and Lana had enough to deal with in Duty Bound Guardian.

The interesting thing about this book was set up. The author took time for a reader to understand the demons that drove both the hero and heroine and it was easy to see how both their pasts affected their present. I liked how the author showed Adam and Lana, in turn, seeing the strengths of the other person as they battle to stay alive and solve the case. I saw their trust grow, the attraction simmer and the best part is how Ace, the K-9 officer and Adam’s partner, played a major role, like an equal character, in the novel. I’ve seen K-9 officers in action and they truly are an amazing team in real life and I could relate. A police officer and his canine partner really are inseparable. That loyalty comes in handy many times throughout the story.

The most Adam and Lana do that physically shows when their extreme attraction for each other combusts and passion overcomes them, is kiss. It was enough to satisfy me that the chemistry is smoking hot but they toed the line because of the seriousness of their situation. It was realistic in that regard. Then again, they both have a strong sense of faith in God and quite a few times they ask/pray for strength and guidance, and a little saving especially when the bullets fly. It’s not overdone at all, instead it provides a healthy dose of grounding, which reminds me, that even when things are at their worst, comfort can come from a higher source, and it can see a person through.

I think I might have guessed as to whom the bad guy was, but I wasn’t sure because the author, through use of her characters, kept throwing me off of the scent. In the end, the heroine was just as shocked as I was. I liked that.

Duty Bound Guardian is a clever read with heart pounding action. It was entertaining, exciting and I really enjoyed myself. I’d recommend this to all romance suspense readers who don’t want to read a huge tome but want a quick edgy read that affects their breathing in all the best ways. It’s a solid recommend.

The first chapter of Maverick Sheriff comes out swinging and never lets up. The heroine is in crisis because her baby boy is dying and only one man can save him. I’m completely serious about the impact this book had on me. Every chapter ended with a cliff hanger that placed Jessa in jeopardy, or it ended with a shocking revelation in which the next chapter had Cooper and Jessa dealing with what it means to their lives, their hopes and dreams. Or, people are getting killed left and right and whenever someone hints at giving Cooper the information he seeks to solve a crime another crime occurs to compound the first one. I was biting my nails, shouting at my e-reader and many times overcome with emotion because Ms. Fossen kept the suspense, urgency and action at a fever pitch. The intensity was amazing!

There is nothing as yummy as two adversaries getting bit by the passion bug and succumbing to their physical attraction. Whenever Cooper and Lana forget themselves and lose control, it’s great reading.

The villain is to be despised. After everything he did and was willing to do is exposed, there is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Fossen created a perfect antagonist. What a demented creep.

The only thing that detracted from a perfect score was the ending. For some readers it might be minor but for me, I didn’t get what I needed. If the ending had been the same in a movie in a theater, I would have left with the jitters of adrenaline. After everything Cooper and Lana went through, almost right up until the teeth clenching end, the HEA wrap up came so quick, my head spun. I needed a bit more follow through, even an epilogue, to calm my heart, be certain that the HEA I read was really going to happen and that the new family-to-be was truly abuzz with love, laughter and for the moment, peace. I didn’t get that and after practically hyperventilating through the novel I needed that smooth-over. Although to be fair, I would never have gotten in that situation if the writing hadn’t been so superb in the first place.

Avid fans of romantic suspense seriously have to consider giving Maverick Sheriff a read. It’s so well done, I don’t know why it’s not been made a movie yet. I’m wowed. I really, really recommend this book!

With back-story and immediate happenings, she does not excuse the flaws and bad decisions, but reveals how the characters forgive, love, and survive incredible trauma in their lives.

The main protagonists are Lucky and Zora. Life has dealt them some bad cards and they’ve navigated their crisis the best they knew how. For Lucky, he was sustained by the dream of the perfect scenario for safety, control and how his future would be spent. Anything messy was frowned upon. For Zora, it was for the magical dream of her ex-husband regretting his choice of letting her go and his returning to her with love and acceptance. None of those things were what was best for both the hero and heroine but they couldn’t see that. Certainly not in the beginning. This book shines as it shows a reader the journey they both go on as they realize that what they thought they needed was completely different from what they had. The most amazing thing happened though all that craziness – they fell in love, and it was a wild and emotional ride.

This novel also includes the people who share their boarding house and it amazed me to see that all these people who started out as strangers ending up being a family. Not like a family but a real family. They tease, they harass, they have bad habits and they all pitch in to help. What made their relationships with Lucky and Zora charming and engaging was their support, their caring, their camaraderie and their zeal in protecting each other from the bad stuff life throws at them. And, believe you me, some of the offal that comes their way is sneaky, mean, manipulative and dastardly. The best thing is, truth wins out in the end but not before a tragedy occurs that stuns most every character in the book.

One of the strongest elements in this story is the dialogue. It’s told mostly from Lucky and Zora’s point of view for which I’m grateful. If I had to keep track of all the people populating this tale, I’d have gotten dizzy or mental whiplash. As it was, the author balanced both their point of views perfectly. The author described every worry, feeling and love and moments of hilarity until I felt part of the group. This book touches the heart of every romantic notion I have about what it is to fall in love so hard, you want a family with this person and you want it forever. By the time the happy ever after wrapped up I was convinced that love really does conquer all. Probably because everyone makes mistakes in this novel, everyone is all too human and it’s that very essence of humanity that makes this novel such a powerfully emotional read because at the end, there is love. There is forgiveness. It’s beautiful and very special.

The Baby Bonanza is a must read. For readers who like to see folks overcome incredible personal hardships, who enjoy tender moments and families reuniting and all the good stuff rainbows are made of after the storm, then this is the book to grab. It’s a winner

If you have read previous Hitching Post Hotel books, you will find Barbara White Daille, with skillful crafting, weaves in the many characters met in earlier books in a way that enriches the inner-emotional-conflicted love story of that finally reaches its happy-ever-after, even though it seemed impossible.

I had fun reading this novel because there was an amazing twist complicating the hero’s angst that took me completely by surprise.

This is most definitely a character driven romance because it deals with the hurdles that come from loving your family even when they hurt you. It comes from the pain of loving the wrong person until the right person comes along and puts things in perspective.

My favorite personality trait of the heroine, Angelica a/k/a Geli, is her propensity to save any animal in distress no matter the inconvenience it might cause her. It’s really adorable and it lends itself to some wonderfully tender and funny scenes in the book.

The hero, Dante, is a typical HQ hero; rich, powerful and used to getting things done. Dante is delightfully approachable and he’s actually a very nice guy who goes along with Geli’s plans to save injured kitties. He got more than he bargained for and how he reacted made him perfect as a hero.

Included in this story is a scene that is a commonly used technique – the witnessing from afar an interaction that looks damning and potentially undermines all the progress in the romance that had been made. I’m grateful that the anguish was short lived but the real reason behind that moment was shocking. Dante is a lot more noble and honorable than anyone realized – and I hurt for him. I found the reason hard to wrap my brain around because it was so …well, it totally confounded me. How the hero accepted and embraced the situation and remained the well-adjusted guy that he is solidly impressed me.

This story is very sensual. It has a lot of attraction and some kisses and steamy almost moments but when Dante and Geli finally express the physical side of their romantic feelings, I only got to see the happy couple after the fireworks. I’m just happy they got together. I wouldn’t expect less with a passionate man like Dante.

Vettori’s Damsel in Distress is classic romance. It has two unlikely people coming together at the perfect moment in time when they were ripe for falling in love. Like anything shiny and new, there’s a learning curve and a few moments of distrust of something so powerful and fast. How can an instant attraction be the real thing?
