What’s a person to do when they discover everything they’ve believed is nothing but lies?

I grew up wealthy, a spoiled rich kid some would say, blessed with a natural athletic physique and erotic good looks that could get me into the panties of just about any girl I set my mind to.

I wanted … what I wanted.

And that meant one thing: the beautiful brunette from study hall—but she left me high and dry.

Today, I have a heart made of stone. I’m angry, a professed lifelong bachelor and a sexual sadist.

I want to punish her, make her cry, make her suffer. I want to hate her for what she’s done.

But I want my hands on her.

Mine. All mine.

I simply want … Ava Montgomery.

Intrigue Me is a romantic BDSM, sadism story with heart. I never thought that was possible. This book is an eye opener for sure and not for the fainthearted. Unlike some romantic BDSM books, this novel goes a lot deeper. The main characters are Tage and Ava and they have quite the history. It’s a long and painful one. One that included a child, Melli, with Down Syndrome.

This was a difficult read and even more difficult to write a review for. The author did a wonderful job of portraying sadism and showing the emotional side of the characters as well. Each character is so well written and different. You get the good guys, not so good guys and the ones that makes you smile with their humor.

The plot twists were brutal and painful. Intrigue Me has the sweet ‘aww’ moments, the ‘I can’t get enough of you’ moments, the ‘screw you’ moments and so on. It’s sweet, sad, with endless passion and chemistry as well as hurt; there is every emotion in that spectrum here. The author tried–and succeeded, I believe–in writing an erotic romance story which touches and captures the heart of it all, while making sure the chemistry and passion of both still burned as high as ever.

Intrigue Me is an erotic BDSM with sadism in it so readers be warned. However, it is soft as well. This book is perfect for readers who love their story plots with a lot of intense passion and heart.

An exemplary soldier in the U.S. military, he defends his nation against the greatest danger they have ever faced- the Enlai. As the fledgling, unstable Shadow-Molder alliance struggles against Galaxius’s mighty forces, humanity takes no sides, regarding any super-powered being as a threat. However, while Tobias tries so hard to honor his father and country, he makes a discovery which forces him to question everything he had ever believed in- his father, his country, and even his own identity.

No matter how hard she tries, Alia cannot remember. What was she, who were her parents? Deep down, she knows something is missing. She can feel it every time she closes her eyes, and she can see it in her dreams. A door, locked deep within her consciousness. A past, distant, yet not forgotten. And a darkness, struggling desperately to break free.

Return to the world of the Enlai!

First, I strongly advise reading the first book in the series, The Nexus Mirror, before reading The Legend of Solis. Many of the characters and events are connected. I fear readers will be lost if they try to jump into the series at this point. It is definitely worth the time to go back and read the first book!

As with the first novel, Mr. Michael has chosen to tell the story from multiple viewpoints. Again, this works very well to show the story unfolding in different places from different characters’ viewpoints before bringing it all together at the end. All the transitions are clearly marked and never confusing.

This installment also introduces quite a few new characters. I still had the opportunity to catch up with characters from The Nexus Mirror, but I’ll admit I was hoping to see more of my favorites. I would have liked to spend more time following Yuran in particular. His story was quite compelling in the first book, and he became one of my favorite characters. While I did get to spend some time reading about Yuran in this book, his chapters had a bittersweet feeling to them this time around.

It is great to see the Enlai working together. They have spent so much time fighting each other in the past, but now is the time to put aside their differences. They will need to work together to face a threat greater than anything they’ve ever seen. I must warn readers sensitive to violence that this book does contain graphic violence, a lot of fighting, and large battle scenes. The fate of main characters never feels secure. I admit I teared up a time or two as I read!

I’m glad I had the opportunity to continue reading this series. The ending of this novel is very satisfying, but the story is far from over. There are still evil forces at work that have yet to reveal themselves. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

“Behave, Mr. MacTaggart.”

One steamy night in Paris, I had a quick and dirty fling with a Scotsman who wouldn’t tell me his name. Ten months later, my boss sends me to Scotland to broker a business deal with tech mogul Evan MacTaggart. There’s just one problem. The seductive billionaire is the man from Paris, and I still can’t resist him.

The moment Keely O’Shea walked into my office I knew I could never let her go this time. For ten months, I’ve dreamed about the beautiful, sensual woman who drove me out of my mind. Now, she’s sitting here in my office dressed like a sexy librarian and telling me to behave. How can I? The way she looks, the way she moves, and the memory of Paris are all driving me mad again. She thinks she’s too old for me. I say eleven years means nothing. I need to possess her, but do I have the right? My past mistakes are knocking on my door.

Evan tempts me to take risks and unleash my inner wild child, but I’ve had too many heartaches in the past. The secretive Highlander who’s too young for me might be the only man who can get under my skin and convince me to take a chance on love again.

“I can live with that. But if you agree to go sightseeing with me, I’ll let you have your underwear.”

What would you do when one of your one night stands becomes the one that got away?

Keely and Evan are different. Keely has become distrustful of men because of strings of bad relationships. Their passion is definitely there, even after six months. From Paris to the office boardroom, their meetings heat up and Evan is not willing to take a chance and lose her again. Keely and Evan have an over the top chemistry and results in some intense sex scenes. There is a bit of tying up that some readers may not like but it’s well written.

The romantic plot is easy reading but there is another minor plot that comes up which has bits of mystery and suspense. What kept me going was Keely and Evan. Keely is an independent no nonsense “it’s my way or no way” kind of gal. She’s certainly not submissive. Evan is a businessman, a Tech Geek, a Scotsman and a billionaire. He’s strong and very persistent. There is a conflict about an age difference between both of them and Keely is unwilling to take a chance due to that. Fortunately, Evan is determined to work through her resistance.

I loved reading Keely and Evan’s conversations more than anything in this. Insatiable in a Kilt is an all-rounder – a very well written and wonderfully descriptive romance.

I didn’t realize Marcia Clark, yep, that Marcia Clark had written so many novels. I remember her as the prosecutor in the case of the century. So I had to pick this book up. I’m glad I did. The writing flows well and kept me interested throughout. I hadn’t read the others in this series, but Sam Brinkman is an intense character. The ending satisfied and I’m interested in reading the other books in this series.

Sam is a crack legal mind. She knows her stuff and is tenacious. Her boyfriend is in trouble, his mother’s been scammed and the world sure looks bleak–all seemingly because Sam took a vacation. Crazy, huh?

There are a couple of plot points throughout this story and the author does a good job of weaving them together. It seemed a bit odd and almost too easy when some of the pieces seemed to fall into Sam’s lap. She also has a tendency to skew the lines when it comes to staying totally legal. That said, it showed her tenacity. The author also manages to blur the lines, too. Things aren’t black and white in life and neither are they in this book. I rather liked that the author kept the plot human in that respect.

If you’re looking for something in the vein of John Grisham or Scott Turow, this might not be what you’re wanting, but if you’re willing to take this book on it’s own merits–and I highly suggest you do–then you won’t be disappointed. A gripping read. Recommended.

This story may be originally from 2006 but the characters, story, plot and happy ever after are as entertaining and worth reading as ever. I adore discovering older romances because not only can I get them at a bargain price, novels like this are awesome brain candy and perfect escapism – something I find myself in need of these days.

This story is a classic – older brother protecting his younger brother from a gold digger. Of course, things are not always as they seem, assumptions are made, wires are crossed and rampant emotions muck up a perfectly innocent situation. It’s how the author has her characters jump through hoops, the dialogue between everyone, both internal and external, and the supporting cast’s roles that make this story work.

The triangle is between Emma, Piers and Lawrence. Emma thinks Lawrence is being wronged, Piers thinks Emma is in the wrong, Lawrence convinces Emma that Piers is in the wrong and Emma finds out that both of them in their own way are in the wrong about her. Now how is this going to work out? Why is everyone in the wrong? Is everyone taking advantage of each other in different aspects? Just where is that money that everyone is all concerned about coming from and going to? The trail is blurred by assumptions and the truth causes Piers to experience stunned shock. Serves him right. I enjoy seeing an arrogant alpha male have the wind taken out of his sails. It’s how he handles it that makes him either a hero or a jerk.

The Wealthy Man’s Waitress has a satisfying happy ever after once the whole unvarnished truth is revealed. Piers finally figures out why he was so obsessed with Emma and Emma sees Piers isn’t the ice man she thought him initially, in fact he is the exact opposite of ice; and Lawrence is finally seen as the man he truly is. Everything works out and all is right in the world of romance. I’m a satisfied reader.

He never expects to fall for her, but when two other alphas, Kane and Marshall, show up to compete for her affection, he can’t deny how he feels.

These very different alphas have to put their jealousy aside when Tiffany is targeted by an unknown enemy, because it will take all three of them to keep her alive. Even as danger surrounds them, Kieran, Kane and Marshall discover that sharing the feisty omega is more appealing than they’d thought it would be.

Can they work together to protect her from the danger threatening her or will their competition drive away the omega they all crave?

In an alternate universe where everyone is an Alpha, Omega, or Beta, things can get a bit tricky! We met Tiffany and Kieran in book one but Kane and Marshall bring an extra bit of sparkle with them.

Tiffany is rescued from a bad situation but has to go to hospital for treatment where she meets Marshall. He is the ‘calm’ one of the bunch. He keeps a tight rein on his emotions, fearing he will become like his father. Kane is a friend of Tiffany’s who she has only ever spoken to over the phone. And Kieran is the one who holds Tiffany’s contract. When the three of these get together to try and protect Tiffany from an unknown threat, sparks fly and everyone gets hurt!

I enjoyed this book and loved reading about the characters and their histories. I found Tiffany to be a very well-written character as she tries to figure out who she is and what she wants. She was a tad annoying at times but then, what nineteen-year-old isn’t? They all have baggage in their pasts and it takes the four of them as a unit to work through some of the problems.

This was a great addition to the series that I enjoyed reading. Full of steam, sass, and sheer alpha-ness that I can definitely recommend.

Between semesters, he traveled north to his birthplace to find the glens quite deserted.

The storyline elaborated the enormous influence diminutive Scotland, the poorest and yet most literate country in Europe, had with the influx of academicians from its shores expounding the ideas of the Enlightenment providing fuel in the movement toward independence. One such educator was the young William Small, Professor of Moral Philosophy at William and Mary, who exposed his students to the writings of the brightest philosophers in Edinburgh. One young mind that became captivated with the egalitarian concept of natural rights was that of Thomas Jefferson.

This book picks up right in the middle of an exciting moment, directly from the point book one left off, but there is a synopsis at the beginning to catch you up if you need that. The first book was great, and this book is just as entertaining if not better.

Elizabeth Rodger is a talented writer who excels at recreating a world of the past. Her vivid details illuminate the setting so well that readers can imagine they’re there. This only makes the exciting storyline unroll all the better. The characters are lovable, and the things they go through will have readers nervous for them.

Though it’s set in commonly-known historical episodes, one will wonder how the characters will be personally affected by the chaos going on around them. Where book one dealt with the brother who became a lawyer, book two features his younger brother who becomes a doctor. It’s fascinating to get an inside look into medical training in the eighteenth century, and the doctor here goes further and researches Native American medicine. Things get even better when he goes to a famous medical school in Scotland to learn to become a surgeon. Hearing about the school that has an historical reputation is very interesting. What readers will learn about the school and the town could be surprising to many people.

The doctor’s adventures in Scotland and then in America again will keep pages turning. The added bonus is discovering just how much Scottish people beneficially affected the birth of a nation (The United States). They played a bigger role in this than many might suspect.

Our characters get involved first with the French and Indian War in America then see the beginnings of the American Revolution. The doctor is friends with Thomas Jefferson as a young man and offers great insights into his thoughts. Even romance is thrown into this story. Those who love history are sure to enjoy this adventurous tale.

Lotte pairing.

With the help of his sister, Gwen Lotte, Arthur, and two twins visiting their uncle for the summer, Mordy and Morgan Lafayette, Lance learns the true meaning of friendship, and just how far he will go to save the people he loves.

Life can throw many things at you, especially when you are young. For Lance, one of those things was something some of us never even have to consider. For Lance, it was his whole identity.

The writing in this story gives an eloquent picture of the struggle Lance had, not only to become the person he knew he was inside but to also fight the uphill, never-ending battle with people who knew him ‘before.’

Add into that someone who loves him as he is plus someone who wants to love him and you get a very confused Lance. And then there is the other side of this story. The story involving Arthur, Mordred, Morgana, Viviene, and Emrys. Some can do magic, some can’t. Some believe in their past lives, some don’t. There is a mixture of magic in this book, from Celtic Wicca (Gwen) to Santeria (Mordy and Morgan) to Bruja (Lance).

This was an interesting read with plenty of action to keep the reader turning the pages. Not only do they have the big bad to figure out but also Lance and Arthur have to figure out themselves too. The character relationships were brilliantly written as they interacted with each other.

A different book in the mix of King Arthur books out there but one I thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely recommended by me.

The world building was fantastic. Ms. Kuchinskas thought of everything from what people ate, to why they avoided going outdoors during daylight hours as much as possible, to how everyone stayed as healthy as possible in this future version of Earth that had experienced multiple deadly pandemics over the years. I was fascinated by how many parts of the average person’s schedule was different from life in our era. The only thing better than this was looking for the ways in which life was surprisingly similar as well.

Just like I mentioned in my review of the first installment in this series, I would have liked to see more character development. Finder was an incredibly interesting guy who lived in a society filled with medical and technological advancements that people in the early twenty-first century can only dream of. There was a lot of room here to show how he grew and changed as a result of the wondrous and terrible things he experienced. If there had been more evidence of him responding to his environment in this way, I would have gone for the full five-star rating without a doubt.

The plot twists were well written, especially when it came to the mystery subplot. While this work was firmly rooted in the science fiction genre, it did a good job of incorporating some of the things I’d expect to see happen in a mystery novel as well. Figuring out what might happen next and comparing my predictions to what actually occurred was a great deal of fun.

I’d recommend reading Chimera Catalyst before diving into book two of this series. Singularity Syndrome should be read by anyone who wonders what the future could hold for the human race.

The theme of good parenting versus bad parenting is highlighted in this novel. It’s messy, at times unconventional, but the difference between the two (good vs bad) is clear and well delivered.

Ms. Ryan created her hero with enough depth, caring and humor, and with a strong moral compass, I found Austin easy to like. Sonya was presented as smart, giving, loyal and who also had a strong sense of family that she made a wonderful partner for the hero. I enjoyed how the author played one off the other, showcasing their strengths and weaknesses in such a way that I was vested in their success.

Secondary characters, like Roxy, Noah, Kelly and June highlighted the theme of family, love and new beginnings. They all were part of an effective supporting cast that enriched the relationship and growing love between Austin and Sonya.

The funny thing about reading this story was my outbursts at key plot moments. My hubby was watching t.v. while I was reading near him. I thought something was really wrong”. I replied, “Well yes, there IS something really wrong, for the hero”. He just rolled his eyes at me. Of course it happened a few more times and each time, my hubby reacted to my reaction and then was disgusted because it was only about a ‘story’. Don’t others realize that to a reader vested in the characters, the crisis points, the suspense and ‘oh my gosh!’ moments ARE real? They wouldn’t be if the author wasn’t good at their craft. Ms. Ryan is very good.

The plot was a solid one, and even though I knew what would eventually happen, the how of it is what made this novel a good read – entertaining, engrossing and worth the time. It had a wonderful happy ever after times two, and a just ending for the man who could be awarded the ‘worst father of the year’ 1st place ribbon. It’s sad actually because there were other options, and any and all olive branches were brushed aside. Having Austin finally and completely happy at the end was so satisfying.

I recommend this book because Restless Rancher is a really good read and Austin and Sonya are worth spending an afternoon with.
