I love this series, I really do. They all are standalone stories and yet also still manage to be interlinked. The focus is definitely on Dax and Maili but Dara and Loren, plus others, play a big part in it too. The story is fast-and-perfectly-paced, each chapter leading onto the next without any wasted words. I am hopeful part of the story is a pre-runner to the next book but I will just have to wait and see.

I have tried to think of something ‘bad’ to say, just to keep my review balanced. Unfortunately for me, I just can’t think of anything. I think the characters are fantastic, whether you are meant to like them or not. I couldn’t wait to finish this book, just so Dax and Maili got their HEA but at the same time, I didn’t want to finish as I didn’t want their story to be over.

This is such a great series and I really can’t recommend it highly enough. For any fans of fantasy romance out there, give this a try and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

My two favorite characters are older fish wives named Mrs. Gow and her best friend Mrs. Gudge. They are the typical hard-working, hard-drinking, poorer woman who are also merry and loyal to those that are their friends. The banter between them whenever they appear made me laugh.

Will, Maggie, and Lucian’s relationship developed well and I liked how the author treated them throughout the story. More like a pair of brothers, and Maggie, rather than three people who met each other in another way. Their getting close was a treat to read.

There are some obstacles along the way and the ending wasn’t what I expected. I won’t give the ending away, but it made me yearn for the next story for these three. It is a friendship that should not be severed and I hope that there is another book that has them together.

To further complicate things, Joel pursues an engaged woman and wins her away from her fiancé. Seems like that could lead to trouble. Several situations are set up that really create great suspense. For example, Joel grows close to the man his grandmother dated before she met Joel’s grandfather, knowing the man will die in the war. Will Joel try to save him with foreknowledge and at risk to his own existence? And what about the war? Could Joel do something? Should he enlist?

This is a real page turner and very well written. The secondary characters are important to the plot and are multi-dimensional. The period details are great, and the relationships are realistic. For an enjoyable tale with a vintage flair, this is a good one to check out.

This fit the overall one of this piece nicely and was a good decision.

With that being said, the character development could have used more attention. There were such a large number them included in it that none of them had enough time in their scenes to grow as individuals. It would have been nice to either focus on a smaller number of them or to have a longer book so that they could have more scenes to work with. This was something I particularly noticed with the female characters whose development tended to be even more stunted than their male counterparts.

This story was filled with plot twists that I enjoyed discovering. Woodward Heights Borough, where it was set, was a community filled with folks who tended to have known each other for decades if not their entire lives. These deep roots made for all sorts of interesting developments in what people knew about each other, what they kept hidden, and what they pretended like they weren’t aware of it. This made for great twists and turns in the storyline and it also felt quite accurate of small town life is really like in my experience.

I’d recommended Double Swerve to anyone who likes small town murder mysteries.

This book is the embodiment of what I look for in a romance book. It has all the feel-good components I hope to experience when reading a love story. I’m an emotional person and enjoy connecting with my characters on a personal level. The writing techniques in It’s a Trust Thing really brought the story to life. This isn’t my first Peggy Jaeger novel and it will definitely not be my last.

I didn’t get a chance to read the first book in the DotComGirls series before I discovered It’s a Trust Thing, so I’m secure in saying that It’s a Trust Thing can be read as a standalone. I have yet to be disappointed in a Peggy Jaeger novel and I’m pleased to share that this story, like the others, more than satisfied me.

This particular book was a great deal of fun to read. My attention was captured from the beginning and carried onto the end. I lost count how many times I laughed. I really want to share how surprised I was with the unexpected plot twist near the end of the book.

I often talk about book boyfriends but rarely talk about having favorite heroines. Nell Newbery makes my list of favorite heroines. She was a kindred klutz like me. She was also a heartwarming character as I enjoyed reading about her overcoming her trust issues. Nell’s character was a role model for following your dreams despite adversity.

Charlie Churchill doesn’t win the book boyfriend award but he gets an honorary mention. I really loved him, and even though I didn’t get much of his inner thoughts and feelings, I found it wasn’t necessary because actions speak louder than words. Charlie clearly demonstrated his love and passion for Nell.

Together, Charlie and Nell made a compelling romance. They were an inspiring couple as they opened their hearts up to each other.

I don’t have any qualms about recommending this book.

I sure didn’t put this one down very often. It’s the first book I’ve read in the Tracy Crosswhite series. It’s Book 7, and I was never lost. Oh, I could tell things had happened previously in Tracy’s life that weren’t explained in detail, but I don’t think there was one thing that made me feel I was in the dark in this book. I’m not sure how an author writes a continuing series; contains a whole new story in a book; gives you a sense of background and doesn’t go over and over trying to explain what happened before but…Dugoni did it here.

So my previous paragraph probably made it clear I enjoyed this book. I liked all of the characters. Tracy and her husband and their occasional taut relationship and I enjoyed the sense of motherhood weaving in and out. Dugoni built a great sense of tension and danger in his story. He made you worry about Tracy’s daughter Daniella, even about her friends and family. I immediately liked her old chief, Cal and their friends Faz & Vera, even their nanny, Therese. Good grief I’ve listed all of the main characters. I suppose that shows what distinct personalities Dugoni gave them.

As I mentioned, this is book 7 in the series. I’m not one to often go backward in a series but this seems as if it might be worth it. However, I noticed Bugoni has another series or two and I hope he’s writing Book 8 of this one as we speak.

After reading book one of the NOLA Knights books, I couldn’t wait to dive it to Cassie and Kir’s story. There’s just something about those Bratva brothers but Kir’s backstory is just extra good, in a heart wrenching way. I loved Cassie too and was thankful she had an Aunt Frieda in her corner.

The story flows very well and I thought it was super clever how the author sprinkled in clues that didn’t even appear to be clues until towards the end. It all comes together in a pretty neat package with one or two red herrings to make it extra interesting. I didn’t expect the explanation and that’s a good thing. I like it when the author surprises me as long it makes sense.

Kir is just the right side of protective and it’s was good to see Cassie not immediately run from it. She’s really just a cool character and someone who I was happy to see Kir claim. And claim her he does. As with book one in the series, the bond is almost tangible but not actually paranormal. Two halves of a whole, magnet to steel.

I gave a little squeal when I realized that I got to meet Roman’s intended for book three. That book can’t be released fast enough! He’s one of those ‘still waters run deep’ kind of men and she’s totally going to get him stirred up in all the right ways!

This is a Russian mafia romance that doesn’t stray into the dark too much. It’s touching and hot and well worth the read.

She has a crush on two boys; Ethan and Cole. She is confused on how to handle those feelings. She also has to deal with the competition between the two.

This is a second book in a series for young adults. It is fast paced and interesting with a heroine that many can relate to. It shows how much friendship and a little crush can affect decision making skills. I did think that the story was a little too long and some of the details could have been left out.

The rest of the characters were incredibly well done and relatable. Yale is a strong character who is a perfect role model for Amy. She shows the girl bravery, comradeship, discipline, and the strength to not give up in any situation. Madison, even being a robot, was unable to understand why the other robots were so devoted to their creator. He was the one that found out Dr. Greenland was going to sell them to the enemy. He had the experience of being free and the friendship of Amy which allowed him to experience feelings the others have not.

Ethan, although not a main character, still plays an important role in the story. Besides being a love interest for Amy, he also is a contrast to her personality; he is more cautious, able to follow orders and is not as strong or experienced in battle as Amy. He does help with fixing up Madison after Yale shot him. He is another great support for her along the journey.

An interesting book for young adults and adults to read. It’ll keep your interest because it is full of action and suspense, but also has parts to teach young adults to handle difficult situations. Although it was the second book in the series you don’t need to read the first to make sense of it. It is rather complex so some may have trouble following along but it is well worth it.

It all sets off in a graveyard, where a brief chance meeting reveals a great deal about central characters, as well as giving us a sense of the character of this small southern town. It is a deceivingly quiet start for the drama that immediately follows.

No spoilers here! This story needs to be read and savored, without giveaways about events. The two main characters, Delia and Eli, are super, but no less are the many secondary characters: the parents who care so enormously, the families who are related, distantly, but all have that sense of kinship. The mid-twentieth-century in Small-Town South Carolina seems the perfect backdrop.

The harsh details are there, pulling us in from moment-to-moment, yet the details fade beside the emotion, from fear to curiosity, sometimes in as many words. There are moments when we readers grasp the significance of a thing, well before Delia does. It might be described as a coming-of-age novel, although I would say it’s about gaining understanding, and perhaps insight. It is not an entirely comfortable process.

Bells for Eli is simply beautifully written. Somehow, the words slip into the background as the story plays out for us. The author goes far beyond creating reader sympathy; we somehow step into that first summer and share so many firsts in the tenderest of lifetimes. Love is there in so many actions…

The gentle power of this novel completely surprised me. It’s a solid 5 star book. Do read.

I first met Beck in the book one of this series. I have to say, by the end of that book I was seriously crushing on the whole Bro Code crew. And not just the hot guys that I hope get their own books eventually. I love parents and friends and whole quirky town that I found myself in with Wyatt and Ellie’s story but by the end, I was craving Beck’s book. He’s just so precious and seemingly oblivious. But he’s not really oblivious. He just looks for the upside while reconciling that the downside is out there. He doesn’t ignore the bad in the world around him, he tries to fix it.

Sarah didn’t have a chance of not falling for him. He would adorably geek her into loving him like he did me. I really like how she describes him. “This guy loves his family, and food, and life, and he makes everything brighter.” BTW, the whole “loves food” part…he’s like a hobbit but adorable. That’s all I can say.

This was a fun book for because of all the pop culture references. If you love some Buffy and believe that Firefly got the shaft, this is the book for you. It owned me with all the silly rom-com antics and great dialogue.

Beck and Sarah have great chemistry. They get each other and therefore compliment each other. She provides stability while knowing what he deals with on a daily basis. Beck has a lot of stuff but none of it, not the cars the houses or the money, truly matter to him. It’s a means to an end. He gives her strength and a platform to be brave. To rise about the things that sent her into hiding.

I’m not sure how I was so lucky to find this new author to me but I glad I did. She already has a pretty healthy catalog of stories that I can’t wait to really dive into while I wait for the next installment in the Bro Code to come out.

Readers looking for an honestly fun and yet satisfying rom-com need to give this one a read. Go read Ellie and Wyatt’s book, too. There’s a whole lot happening there that segues very nicely into Beck and Sarah’s story.
