Just when I think there isn’t a fresh take on the predestined mates to be had, an author comes along and proves me wrong. The thing that makes this story stand out from other werewolf paranormals is the fact that even though their sense of smell tells them that the bond is there, by no means is it failsafe. It’s not a guarantee, it’s only a jump off point – the rest is up to the man and woman. They either make it work or they don’t, it’s all up to their personality quirks and foibles. And let me assure readers, the author threw a lot at the hero and heroine making the ride bumpy, exciting and it kept me glued to the pages.

Jackie is quite the intrepid heroine. She’s a doctor and that already makes her character one to respect and take seriously. However, still waters run deep. The author was such a tease! There was this build up of worry, of suspense, of thinking there were horrible things buried in her past. The actual truth had me grinning ear to ear. What a surprise and it certainly made things interesting and complicated for the hero. Not that they weren’t already thorny enough. Jackie is alternately, feminine, competent and aggressive; she even has a wise cracking wit that kept the hero on his toes. I liked how she fought the attraction and I cracked up at her inner dialogue. I also enjoyed the fact that she did what she wanted even though the hero, with his bad alpha attitude, forbade her to do things. Jackie is a class act because I like how she defied him – and yet didn’t do stupid things just to spite him. Everything she did made sense.

Now, Zan is a delicious type of hero. He comes across as an adrenaline junky, commanding and dark. It’s not until he meets the heroine that a reader will see that there is a lot more under the fur than alpha bossiness. Oh, he has it in spades but instead of orchestrating his skills for a tactical offense on a bad guy, he ends up using it to woo and seduce Jackie. And wow, does Zan get lead on a merry chase. I think that was half the fun of the book. Every time he thinks he’s a shoe-in, he messes up and he’s back at square one. He’s also figuring out a few things about himself along the way. Who he really is, and isn’t. What he wants out of life and what he’s willing to do to get it. I think his character makes the most adjustments and growth. I especially enjoyed it when he gets all wolfy and growly. Speaking of the heat, Ms. Dellerman wrote this book just the way I like it. It wasn’t a story to promote only sex. The sensual buildup and physical explorations of their attraction and lust was sprinkled throughout the story in a perfect balance that I really enjoyed. Every time they had it, there was a build up before, making what happens inevitable yet very potent. I was entertained when he was all rough with Jackie, and though she tried to fight him, she was fighting herself more. Because of that, when they did succumb to their passions, it was explosive and forceful. Nothing tame or timid for these werewolves.

The conflict is both internal and external. I’ve already covered the internal between Jackie and Zan but there is a bad guy and he’s a nasty sort. It overshadows a good portion of the book, driving the hero and heroine to certain actions until the moment it all comes to a head. When the confrontation erupted, there was a lot of action and suspense that kept me flipping the pages. The writing was nice and tight so I could feel the drama and intensity as it unfolded. It’s not particularly gruesome but I was left in no doubt that the good guys can be bad when they need to be.

I have to mention that I noticed some misspellings that made me blink; nothing major and certainly not enough to throw me from the story. However, since a perfect score means perfect editing, I am forced to not give the book as high a mark as I wanted to. I was a bit bummed about that. This book is great in every other aspect.

Secondary characters gave a nice flavor to the book. In fact, Zan’s two soldier buddies made me smile a lot. I liked them and thought they were a good addition. I loved the fact that Zan had a brother and it also alluded to the fact that there is a back story that I was unaware of. The result of which is, I intend to go and find out about Dean because he’s fascinating too. And if there is a book about Dean that means the author did great in making this a standalone read. I never felt anything was left out. This book is all about Zan and Jackie and it was cool.

What This Wolf Wants is sexy, fun and exciting with a wonderful sense of humor to sweeten the ride. I enjoyed getting to know Zan and Jackie and had a great time watching them fall in love. The book never lagged and it always kept my interest. I liked their personalities, their sense of love and contrary courting style and I got the shivers when Zan marked Jackie as his. I love it when they do that. It’s so yummy. If readers are looking for a paranormal romance book that will make time fly and their blood pressure rise in excitement, then What This Wolf Wants is the one to try.

This is short story that was able to capture the struggles these two men go through to be together. The ups and downs and give and take that happens between Kit and Emmett are what had me clinging to every page until the end. For me there is nothing sexier than two cowboys alone on a range going down the road of self-discovery and love together. If you’re into a little western cowboy loving this is the book for you.

I was apprehensive at one point that the story would fall into predictability. After a major confrontation between Lyon and Samara, I was afraid that Samara would wither and bend to Lyon’s intimidation, but she held her own and she persevered. I enjoyed that she didn’t fall back into a quiet timid female persona. She knew she had to be strong and stood up to the rather huge Leo Class cyborg. It was a turning point for me in the story. It was entertaining how she proved herself to Lyon and his crew, making a place for herself in his heart and the whole cyborg community.

I was captivated by this story. I hope Ms. Carter continues writing about these characters. The other crewmembers on Lyon’s team were intriguing and very interesting. I can see promising futures for them and I hope I can come along for the ride. Ms. Carter writes exciting and enthralling science fiction. She had my heart dropping and soaring all within a few pages. She could easily write a full length novel and keep me totally engaged. Sci-fi is an untapped genre for me and Ms. Carter has my piqued my interest and curiosity. In my opinion, the mark of a great author is one that hooks me and pulls me along on an amazing page turning ride, which is what I found with Mina Carter.

I haven’t read any of the other books in this 1 Night Stand series but after reading this one I’ll be seeking out more. She’s really Mia, the sister of his business rival and has been talked into going to Vegas by her friends for this one night stand.

I liked Shane from the first page. He comes across as a sexy nice guy (complete with his cowboy outfit). I almost felt sorry for him because he’d been talked into this situation by his sister but you’re sure he’ll be well matched with Mia, who’s already been introduced in the story so you know that things are going to be okay for him. I liked the complication caused by Shane being Mia’s brother’s rival. Her brother is also in Vegas so things get really tense for her when she finds out who Shane really is.

The dialogue between these two is great, and sometimes humorous. At forty-one pages the pacing is fast and the sex hot. I would have liked to see more of a story for these two but other than that this is a fun tale that can be enjoyed when you just don’t have the time for a full length story but still need to satisfy your reading fix.

However, six months later she’s in London filling in for another professor and runs into Nigel and that’s when things get interesting and heat up.

I felt these two were perfect for one another from page one so it was great to see them reconnect. There’s an underlying sexual tension brewing from the first time they meet again and things really heat up.

I especially enjoyed the dialogue between these two and the setting, London and surrounding countryside is wonderful too. Nigel comes across as very sexy and you hope that Chelsea will have the good sense to make England her home and stay with him.

The book also has a few spots where you think things could go wrong for them which keeps you reading. And, there’s a nice romantic twist at the end which I won’t spoil for you.

Pacing is fast and you can probably read this book in an hour or so. If you’re looking for a sexy story with a British setting and hot, sexy Brit, give this one a read.

Fitz Gaffney finally has some breathing room. His mother’s out of town, his piano teachers have backed off, and he gets to spend time at a school where he only has to be adequate for an entire year before all his responsibilities comes crashing back in again. With this freedom comes the realization that he’s lonely, but his first attempt at dating goes horribly awry.

Fitz’s new — but possibly imaginary — friends, Julian and Serge, want to help him find happiness. His used-to-be-stepbrother Ari Scheffield wants to help him gain confidence and a little much-needed cool. His housekeeper Marguerite wants to keep fowl in the back yard for butchering because duck confit is expensive and she has pillows to re-stuff. And his possible new boyfriend Garrett wants to prove he didn’t mean for their first date to end with Fitz lying unconscious in a dumpster.

All Fitz wants is someone who cares about him, and suddenly there seems to be a glut. How’s a shy guy to know what’s real when he’s confronted by crazy ghosts, a less than truthful boyfriend, and relatives with hidden motives? It’s a Rhapsody For Piano And Ghost.

Sometimes we all need a little push, even if it’s from a ghost. Fitz is a brilliant pianist but he’s not very socially sophisticated. In fact he has no friends at his new performing arts school and with his erstwhile mom in Europe, he jumps at the first young man to show him some attention. Unfortunately that attention lands Fitz in a dumpster where he’s fished out by two very energetic and talkative ghosts. Julian and Serge are determined to help Fitz in the minefield of his life in very unusual ways. If only Fitz could see the real life man in Ari as well.

Rhapsody for Piano and Ghost is an entertaining romp when Fitz’s naïve and somewhat overly innocent world collides with real men and their good or bad intentions. The story is very funny and pretty engaging as socially awkward Fitz suddenly has two suitors in his sheltered life. The first is Garrett, a school classmate that is obviously bad news. Everyone can see it but Fitz, who’s determined to be a loyal friend and boyfriend. What makes the story really quite fun to read are the ghosts – Julian and Serge. Julian fishes Fitz out of the dumpster by trying to steal his jacket. This sets the stage for two very loving but interfering ghosts to play havoc with Fitz’s life. All the while cooking fabulous meals of course. The ghosts are incredibly fun, very romantic, tragic, beautiful, and simply entertaining. They’re easily my favorite part of the story and really loved whenever they appeared in a scene. Their story doesn’t always make sense, either their backstory or how they came to be where/what they are, but at the same time they’re so engaging I didn’t care.

The writing is very typical of this author and fans of the author’s work are likely going to want to read this. It’s fun, light, entertaining and only slightly frustrating. Fitz tested my patience more than once but the writing and sheer fun of the ghosts, not to mention pretty romantic intentions of Ari help make up for those issues and everything else aside, I think Julian and Serge were absolutely worth reading.
