Don’t think I’ve ruined the story for you -– the sweetness and meat of the story are in the details! Ms. McCall wrote characters who were interesting and who drew you right into the story. Although this was by no means a “suspense” novel, it did keep me turning pages.

A word of warning, the violence is a bit graphic, and those with sensitive imaginations might want to skim through those sections. Conversely, while sometimes it is enough just to know there was violence, sometimes you need to hear just how totally awesome your hero is!

I can wholeheartedly recommend this book for just about everyone! From the folks who like time-travel, to the folks who like some action in their romance, to those who need some “steaminess”, to those who need a tearjerker. There is something for everyone in this book!

Melissa is less closely connected, but her story is enthralling and breathtaking. She has a talent that “burns in her blood,” but because of a past traumatic experience, she denies it. Yet, she functions with compassion and dedication in the life she has chosen in lieu of the life she once dreamed of having. As the reader sees her a different way, after Ken’s life-changing deed, Melissa sparkles with vibrant life but with the same compassion and concern for others as before. She does not dismiss that spark of recognition as she sees Ken among the teeming crowd, but reaches out to him.

With poignant metaphors and magical imagery, the exquisite writing style of Michael Baron brings to life an enchanting love story that surpasses the usual and reveals a love willing to give all to assure a loved one gets to fulfill a deferred dream and innermost desire. Also, the beginning of the book – while very important to understanding what happens later, can be very confusing, and may need a few “re-reads”. Do it as many times as you need, the rest of the story will be your reward! In fact, this may be one of the books you want to buy in hardback and then put on your “keeper” shelf!

Callie, although sweet in a slightly southern way, is far from the elegant yet helpless belle-type southern gal. Taylor is everything a leading man should be: dashing, protective, forthright… and we hope, even honest. He’s good, and we so want Callie to see that. Maybe he’s not the complex character she is, but readers will really like him just the same. His point of view might reveal a little too much, but it isn’t distracting. It does help us to understand his frustration and maybe allow us to feel a little bit frustrated with Callie too. Aldredge really has a way of conveying not just a believable character, but their emotions. Secondary characters are also well done (friends are important- just look what Sally gets Callie into!)and happily fully-drawn also.

Simply put, this is a very entertaining story. The plot is interesting and engaging; the character’s goals obvious and understandable. The backdrop is great – there’s a real southern small-town flavor. There’s a few fun unexpected twists, quips and fun, but readers will want to read this for the wonderful characters and the depth of feelings you’ll share as you go.

Aldredge’s Ladybugs and Fireflies is one with appeal for all romance fans.

I found the plot of this novel particularly satisfying, arising as it did from the hero and heroine’s characters and spiritual state, and the HEA ending, while a no-brainer for any reader of romance, particularly sweet. I rooted for the both of them from the first page right up to the last. If you enjoy inspirational romance, you’re sure to enjoy this book.

I might not have agreed with every single one of the characters’ actions – who really does? That’s what gets the reader emotionally involved in the story–I still had to know what would happen next.

I love mythical creatures so this was something I thoroughly enjoyed. Especially when they got to arguing with each other. I could have read about the fights for days between all of the creatures in Izaaz.

Not only is this a story I would recommend to others, I already have a few people in mind that I know would love it and plan to tell them today. So if you are looking for a love story with a laugh this would certainly fit the bill.

I love the world of the Borealis Space Station. Unlike most, this is not a bright and shiny place to live and work, but a villainous, dark and decrepit pit, falling apart and inhabited by some of the dregs of the universe. I found the characters created by Ms. Schartz fit perfectly into this world, and I enjoyed following them all on this adventure.

In orbit around Sestus-3 sits an aging space station under the control of the Trans Planetary Protectorate. The Borealis is slowly falling apart as the TPP funnels its massive resources into the border wars and keeping the outlaying systems in line. The Borealis is a hive of villainy where anything can be bought or sold — anything or anyone — if the price is right. This is one tale of the people on both sides of the law, the beings who inhabit the Borealis.

Captain Czerno Drake has arrived on the infamous space station, intent on furthering his reputation as a skilled and lucky gambler at the casino. With his massive space yacht, Providence, and his fancy clothes, he appears to be the very image of the rich and successful dandy he wants everyone in the TPP to think he is. But there is a hidden agenda, and nothing is as it seems to be. Captain Czerno Drake is also the notorious rebel leader, Black Dragon, and he is on a mission to rescue his deeply religious and innocent uncle, wrongly imprisoned on Borealis. I like the balance of humor and danger in this story, and the action kept me glued to the pages.

Zara Frankel is an officer in the TPP, but she is not sure that she can continue to blindly go along with thing as they are. I like her strength, and her determination to do the right thing, even if the right thing conflicts with the goals of the Protectorate. I enjoyed watching as she discovered nothing is as it seems, and loved her surprise at seeing who was willing to confide in her to help Czerno rescue his uncle.

Czerno Drake, AKA the Black Dragon, is strong and determined to get to his uncle and get him off the Borealis. He has no plans to fall in love, and he certainly didn’t plan on meeting the one woman who could tame the Black Dragon. Czerno is loyal to friends and family, and that eventually grows to encompass Zara in the small but elite group of confidants. I like his sense of humor, and his ability to think and act quickly. I also loved his choice of pets, his white angora cat, Marshmallow, who travels everywhere with the Captain.

This is a gentle love story, filled with twists and turns, and danger for our intrepid hero and heroine. There is a hidden agenda from the Protectorate, and a surprise or two uncovered along the way. I enjoyed watching as suspicion turned to admiration, and admiration became the first flickers of love between Czerno and Zara. Do these two find the strength to be together and fight for the cause together? When the novel begins, you are introduced to the heroine, Lacey Bradford; an ex-trophy wife who’s been spoiled her entire life. It’s taken a bad divorce and a healthy dose of fear to send her back home to the one man she has always been able to count on. Unfortunately, things have changed. The boy she once knew has grown, becoming a sexy cowboy she can’t stop thinking about. Enter Chase Caldwell, an endearing yet determined man who has loved, lost, and finally started rebuilding his life. When Lacey reappears, he’s at war with his feelings. He wants to love her, yet he can’t help but resent her. Knowing she needs his help, he reluctantly agrees to do what he can to aid the woman he’s dreamed about for years.

Once the reader settles in and falls in love with Chase, who is absolutely swoon-worthy, it’s impossible to think about anything else. The writing is sharp, the dialogue is witty, and the pace is perfect.

A definite must read for romance readers who love cowboys, be sure not to miss Tall, Dark, and Cowboy.
